Angel starts having these visions of seeing this little girl with worms coming out of her, yeah I was grossed out by this. She also is dreaming of a boy who she seems somehow connected to but doesn't know how or if she'll meet him. At the same time she's trying to watch over her younger brother.
They both start in day school (daywalkers) but her brother ends up in night school. Angel finds this strange and goes to see the hunky principal to get her schedule changed to night classes too. After some thought she is assigned to night school but has to start seeing the new counselor who turns out to be not so human either. She finds way more than she bargained for in night school. One of the girls she meets tells her that the weirdos come out after dark. Angel meets some interesting characters and some she would rather kick butt with.
I really liked the world building and the characters. With this being a novella we didn't get in depth with much but the author has it built up to become an awesome series. I also found it interesting and fun how much of the story is told through Angel's blogging. Night School has vampires, dhampirs, jinn (genies), slayers and day walkers. There are gorgeous guys too, which I loved. My only complaint was I didn't want it to end. I can't wait for this story to continue, I LOVED it!...more

In this book it's Guilder Boarding School in England. This is one of my favorites now, can't wait to see what is next.
Rae is a fifteen year old living with her aunt and uncle in New York. Her parents were killed in a fire when she was six. One day she receives an acceptance letter to Guilder Boarding School. She is wondering how they even heard about her. She packs up and leaves behind the only place she has known for the past ten years or so. Rae has no idea what is in store for her when she arrives. She meets her new roommate Molly. Molly is very into fashion and never stops talking. She also meets some more girls in her dorm. The boys are gorgeous but she only has eyes for Devon. Rae soon find out that this is no normal boarding school. Everyone here is gifted, they receive a tatu (tattoo) when they turn sixteen. It appears on their body on their birthday and then they have a special power. She also finds out pretty fast that everyone seems to know more about her past and her parents then she does. Things are not always what they seem and she doesn't always know who to trust. When Rae's tatu is revealed it is pretty cool. Oh yeah and the ending is so good.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The story flowed really well and I loved the characters right from the beginning. It is full of friendships, romance, suspense and lots of action. If I could jump in a book this would be one I would love to be in. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel and reading more about Rae and her friends. I have enjoyed each one of these stories and am hoping there are more written in the future.

When Saydin's father becomes deathly ill they decide that this is their chance. He learns of a cursed magical apple that he can get from the Kait clan that will cure his father. The problem is getting it. Saydin soon finds a solution with Pagen from another clan or so he thinks. She has her conditions though before she will help him. Will Saydin get the apple to save his father or will he find himself in more danger and trouble than he bargained for?
This is a very quick read being a short story but it is still filled with plenty of action. I like reading about these characters and all the messes that they find themselves in. I also enjoy learning about ninjas through these stories. I hope this author continues with this series. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

Leena and Darwin are seeking help frThis is the second full novel book in this series. There are also some short stories that I have enjoyed as well.
Leena and Darwin are seeking help from some of the other ninja clans. Leena wants to make a clan of her own. She recruits Rumble and names her clan the Shadowsalve after Darwin's last name. Now she just needs to get the Order to recognize them as a ninja clan. Things don't go the way she planned though. She seems to find herself in more messes than she can handle. When one of her plans does not go well she finds herself saying that she is bonded to Darwin. This little piece of information sets off more ninjas and even starts somewhat of a war. Leena is not sure who she can trust anymore. Some of the more unlikely people turn out to be more help than she thought.
I really enjoyed getting to know more of the characters in this book. I liked that the author didn't just focus on a few characters but we got to hear from other ones than just the main characters. I did find that so many characters and clans together in one book did get confusing at times. I had to take a few minutes and think about who the person was and what clan they belonged to. Other than that I really liked it. There is some romance, along with suspense and a lot of action. There are many surprises throughout too. I hope the author continues to write stories from this series, whether it be short stories or full length novels. This e-book was provided to me for review. Legend of a Ninja: Beneath the Shadows is a good book. I have read most of the other short stories in this series. I enjoyed reading them and reading a Ninja story for the first time.
Zyonel and Wrath are members of the Iofrehn clan, where relationships are forbidden. The problem with this Zyonel has been keeping his sercret relationship with his wife Auro and daughter Leena a secret for years. Wrath was a lone ninja until Zyonel found him many years ago and had him join the Iofrehn clan. There is a love triangle made up of Zyonel, Auro and Wrath. On top of that there is other problems going on throughout the story.
This book brings together the characters from the short stories together in this full length novel. I liked certain characters from each of the short stories and wasn't sure how I felt about them all being in the same book. The plot pretty much focuses on the same characters and their love triangle. I personally would have liked to have read about some of the other characters and their stories. I got somewhat bored with this relationship/triangle.
The writing is good and there's action and lots of twists and turns. Just when I thought I had it figured out the author threw another curve ball. The last part of the book was the best I thought. The ending left us with a cliffhanger. I will being reading the other books in this series because overall I do enjoy reading them.

When I started reading this I thought that we would get a look at Kate and James's time in Greece. They are there on vacation for her six months away from Henry and the underworld. I was surprised to find that the story is pretty much about Castor and Pollux, two brothers on the run from Henry and the council. I enjoyed reading about their history and I like how Kate stands up for what she believes in. It was also cool to read from Henry's point of view.
I'm not going to say anymore about the story, I don't want to ruin it for anyone. I suggest you read this if you have read the first book. It's a fun and quick read!...more

Lanore is a mixed breed or as they are know in the habitat a Mixie. She can create fire which comes in handy for her. Some in an emergency and some funny moments. She lives in a caged city where everyone has a mark on their forehead that identifies their species. Mixies are second class citizens to the Supernaturals, aka Supes. Lanore lives with her ex-boyfriend MeShack who is also a shifter, a were-cheetah. They have somewhat of a different relationship, sometimes friends, sometimes more. But there is another guy that Lanore is interested in, Zulu. He is a white guy that shifts into a big black guy with wings.
One night on here way home, Lanore stumbles upon a murder in progress. While she cannot make out what the killer looks like the killer knows who she is. When a note from the killer is left at her apartment, Lanore enlists the help of MeShack and Zulu to help her figure out who the killer is before she becomes the next victim. It's not long before bodies start piling up and the investigation becomes more intense. It seems that the killer is sacrificing each victim to a certain African-American God. Will Lanore and her friends become the next victims or will they find the killer in time?
I really enjoyed the author's style of writing. She combined supernaturals, African-American religion, all with a murder mystery twist. Then add the romance, which at times is somewhat erotica in my opinion and you end up with a great story. While the romance is steamy at times it doesn't take over the story. The murder mystery is the main story line in this book. I liked all of the characters with their own unique personality and brand. I would like to continue with this series and see how everything plays out. There is more that happened that I hope we see in the rest of the series. Overall a great book that would appeal to urban fantasy, murder mystery, and supernatural fans. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more
Ok so first of all I have to say I LOVED IT! What a fantastic start to what I hope will be an amazing trilogy. This book kept me up late at night readOk so first of all I have to say I LOVED IT! What a fantastic start to what I hope will be an amazing trilogy. This book kept me up late at night reading and I had it read in a couple of days which is really fast for me.
Sam is not your typical teenage girl. She is a seventeen year old that can read minds. She has lived within an organization that she calls "Rent a Kid". All the kids here have some kind of paranormal power. Since she was about twelve she has been sent on jobs to spy and gather information for the rich clients that have hired her. When she finishes this "job" she thinks that it will be her last. You see when you turn eighteen you get to leave "Rent a Kid" and go live your life where and how you want. Or so they have been told.
When Sam returns from her latest "job" she sees a teenage boy, Drake, strapped down to a bed. He speaks to her mind telepathically. He asks for her help. Drake did not grow up at "Rent a Kid" but he does have a paranormal power, he can control people and things with his mind. Sam was not supposed to see or know about Drake. They form a two way mind connection and stay in touch this way. They also fall in love even though they have never really met in person yet. Drake has been and is continuing to be drugged so that he cannot use his mind control power. Sam starts to wonder if he did something wrong and that is why he is being drugged and not able to use his power. But when she talks to her best friends, twins Lucy and Luke she gets another idea. Is something more sinister going on at "Rent a Kid"?
When Sam turns eighteen things start spiraling out of control. I was loving the story from the beginning but when Sam turns eighteen things start to get really interesting. There are so many twists and I honestly did not know what was going to happen next. It is not predictable at all. I am not going to give any spoilers away but let me tell you this is a must read. I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed! This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

I had no idea just how much I would end up loving it though.
When we first meet Leeowyn aka Lee, she is a 14 year old girl living with her single mom in Florida. She has never really known her dad because her mom took her and left at a very early age. They never talk about him. Then one day her Uncle Cycle (her dad's brother) shows up and tells her that he wants her to spend the winters at his house with him and her grandmother. While she finds this strange she lives with him during the winter for the next four years.
Every year she knows things are somewhat off and everyone acts strange but she just can't put her finger on it. Then when she is about to turn 18 her boyfriend Alex shows up at her Uncle's and stays there. Lee's best friend Peach and her Uncle are not happy to see Alex. When he tells Lee what is really going on Peach just comes along and erases her memory of anything that he has told her. You see Lee is a very powerful guardian and will become the guardian of the realms when she turns 18. On her 18th birthday is when everything starts getting really interesting and fun. She has no idea that she will soon be the only one that can save the realms from a very powerful evil.
I loved the plot and the characters so much. This was a well written story with so many twists and turns that I couldn't keep up. I read every chance I got and didn't want to put it down when I had to. I loved the ending and the answer that Lee gave. I am truly excited to find out what happens next! ...more
