She enters a portal to Amaranth where she meets the vampire Samira, the mother of all vampires. Although now she has no idea that she has just walked into a trap that will lead her into a war between vampires.
The beginning of the book was a bit slow for me but as I continued to read on I realized that it was all part of the story building. The things that happened in the beginning make sense as the story progresses. The last part of the book is really good and the ending had my jaw dropping. Overall a a great story. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this trilogy. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

Well author Allie Burke has drawn me into another wonderful dark story. When I was told that it was tied into another series of her's, the Enchanters, that I loved I knew I wanted to read it.
The story is set in post apocalyptic time of what used to be Malibu, California. There are three groups of people, the Holies (hippie like, who don't speak and are pretty easy going), the Gunners (will and do kill anything in their way) and the Enders (zombies). Jett and her family are Holies who come in contact with Devlin, a mortal enemy. When Devlin's father finds out that he is being friendly with Jett, things turn dark. It seems as though a war is going to start and continue between them.
The author writes a very raw, dark story that is very easy to visualize. I liked seeing references of the characters from the Enchanters series and how they tie into these characters. There is romance, which I always love, suspense and lots of action. Overall a great read. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way. ...more

If another book would be written in the future I would love to read it. It would be great to see the characters in the future. But for now I am happy to have read such a great series.
Marina continues to be one strong young lady who just seems to find trouble no matter where she is. Her relationship with Ethan is tested once again but this time I wasn't sure if it would survive. The author brings in some new characters into the story that shake things up. The story mainly focuses on Marina but we do get a few updates from some of my other favorites throughout. There is a lot more suspense and action in this book than there was in the previous ones. It seemed more intense and I found myself not wanting to put it down. With the new characters comes some surprising news. Marina must figure out who she can really trust because her life and the lives of the mermaids depends on it.
When I finished reading, I was happy with how the series ended. I am going to miss reading about the characters that I have come to enjoy. Overall a great series that I would recommend. I will be on the lookout for more stories from this author. This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way. ...more

Colin and hiThe Gatekeeper's Forbidden Secret surprised me. It is geared for a younger audience but as a thirty something adult I enjoyed reading it.
Colin and his sister Addy get into a bit of trouble with their parents one day while out looking for their lost dog Buddy. So as punishment they have to go to a friend of their father's to help work around his castle for the summer. It's here that they meet the owner's nephew Peter. The three of them become instant friends. Colin and Addy share an incredible and almost unbelievable story with Peter. But together they hope that they can uncover the truth and find a missing piece that could help them get their dog back. Peter will do anything he can to help his new friends but at the same time keeping his own secret hidden.
I had fun reading this story, it is quite an adventure. The author describes everything with such detail that I felt as though I was there in the castle with them. It took me back to my childhood when my friends and I would get ourselves into some crazy adventures. The characters are very likeable and the story is well written. I would give this a 3.5 star rating. You will get lost in the story and be on a wild ride adventure with Colin, Addy, Peter and some unusual friends they meet along the way. It has lots that I love, vampires, hunters, werewolves, supernatural creatures and of course forbidden romance.
Bay-Lee is not your average teenager, she is Van Helsing's daughter. She has been hiding out and moving around for most of her life with her Uncle. She has always dreamed of attending her father's school for hunters. When she finally gets the chance her life will change forever. Bay-Lee wants to train so that one day she can avenge her mother's death. Once she arrives at her new school she is taken into a mock battle almost immediately. Most of the other students don't like her and thinks that she gets special treatment because of her last name. One of the students that really dislikes her is Nick. He is a hunter and one of Van Helsing's best. Nick volunteers to mentor Bay-Lee. It's then that he realizes that he is intrigued by her. But there is a prophecy that will not allow Nick and Bay-lee be together. So they must keep their relationship a secret and figure out a way for the prophecy not to come true. If that's not enough there is someone creating wraiths to kill students on their birthdays. There are other surprises that will keep you guessing throughout.
This book will take you for one wild ride with lots of twists and turns. I was in love with the story and the characters from beginning to end. One of my favorite side characters is Keisha. I love her kick butt attitude and how she is such a great friend to Bay-Lee. I am left with unanswered questions but also wanting to read book two like right now. LOL I was shocked and surprised by the last part of the book. I am hoping that there is much more to this in the next book. I want a different ending. You will understand when you read it. This is a must read! This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

Kimberly Long, aka Kim, is a legal secretary at a law firm in Manhattan. While she enjoys her job she has always thought of being a writer. She has a great boss, Rob, who she seems to "boss" around most of the time. Then there is Nicholas, the lawyer down the hall who Kim has been crushing on for a while.
Kim attends her high class reunion and runs into the high school "mean girl" Hannah who happens to have just written a chick lit book. She wants Kim to read and review on her blog Pastel is the New Black. This makes Kim jealous, even though she doesn't realize it at first.
I liked how the story didn't just focus on the blogger part of Kim. It really followed her throughout her daily life. The ups and downs of being a blogger and the romance in her life.
Blogger Girl is humorous and the characters are so real. I don't normally read contemporary or chick lit but this book has changed my view on it. I loved the office party at the end of the book and the karaoke singing. All in all a well written book. I will be on the lookout for more stories from this author....more

You just want to listen to it over and over again. But in this case I would love to read this trilogy again. This third and final book brings the story to a whole new level and ties everything together with an epic ending that I did not see coming. I could not put my kindle down, Chloe and Alex's story had me so drawn in. It's romantical and suspenseful with a bit of mystery tied in.
Chloe and Alex are living with their son Sammy in San Diego within their drift. Things are going really well but there is always someone waiting for them in the shadows. Franco and his men are still trying to get their hands on the mysterious locket. Alex has secrets of his own and little Sammy always seems to know that Chloe needs to follow what Alex says is best.
Throughout the story I found myself trying to figure out the answers to the same questions that Chloe had. I have to admit that I was confused of what was really going on and what was real and what was a drift. The confusion was a good thing though because by the end I was really surprised. There are many twists and turns throughout with one that I thought had changed the story and thought I knew the outcome. Well I was sure wrong, the last part of the book throws a major curve and the story comes full circle. Things are not always what they seem and this author did a fantastic job of making that happen within these three books. I loved how the locket and the picture came to be about at the end. When you read the book you will understand. I could go on and on but I don't want to give any spoilers away.
This is not a genre that I normally read but I am so happy that when I was asked to read the first book Schasm that I did. While this story was fun for me to read it really opened my eyes up to people with mental illness. I highly recommend reading this trilogy. I am looking forward to reading more from this amazing author in the future. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

Just when Chloe and Alex thought they were escaping their horrible real lives things take a turn for the worse. Chloe and Alex are now being held captive by her Uncle Franco. But what I loved is how they are living such a wonderful life in Paris within their drift. While most of the story takes place in their drift there are times that Chloe goes back to real life. In both reality and the drift Chloe and Alex are in danger and are seeming to run out of time. This book took their story to a entire new place so to speak. We meet new characters and learn so much more about Alex's past. Uncle Franco has some secrets of his own that change things up a bit too. While I found myself getting lost within their story I couldn't help but forget that they were living in one of their drifts and not real life. There are some major changes towards the end and an exciting change to the cliffhanger at the end.
I really enjoyed the first two books and am looking forward to reading the third book When Fully Fused. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way. ...more

Chloe has lived her entire life basically a prisoner in her own home. Her mother treats her bad and only allows her to leave the house to go to the doctor where she always accompanies her. She thinks Chloe is mentally ill. Chloe is left with only her imagination so she drifts. She lives an entirely different life in her other world. It's here that she meets Alex and his mother Celia. Chloe finds out that she knew them since she was a child. Is Alex and Celia real, has she known them since childhood or is it all in her imagination?
I don't want to give too much of the story away. I will say that there is some romance and lots of twists and turns. I have not read a book like this before and I was just blown away by it. I was told that I would either love it or hate it. Well I loved it. It kept me guessing and wondering what was real and what was in her imagination.
The ending has a major twist and then we are left with a cliffhanger ending. I need book two like now. Even if this is not a genre that you normally read, I recommend you read this. It's that good. This is an author whose books I want to read more of. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

Marin and Favian are splitting their time between the elf kingdom and going out on missions to kill ogres. While at the kingdom Marin comes in contact with who she thinks is Favian only to find out that it is his identical twin brother Sebastian. As you are probably thinking yes this does cause some problems. But Marin is more focused on becoming a Protector and killing as many ogres as she can. While at the same time she wants to find out who her real father is and what she is apart from being human. I think I was as shocked and as confused as Marin when she finds out some things from her past. She is also trying to keep Favian from finding out that she is in love with him, while it seems everyone in the kingdom knows this already. But that doesn't stop the males from wanting to court her.
Protector is full of action, suspense, lots of twists and turns and some romance. It will keep you on your toes from start to finish. There is just so much that we learn in this one but so much more to find out in the next installment too. The ending is truly magical. I could just keep gushing about this one all day. I just really loved it and hope I don't have to wait to long for the next book. This is one of those stories that I want to read over and over.

I loved Emerald Destiny and wasn’t sure what to except from the third and final book. Allie Burke blew me away with this one. It was like reading something magical. The words just flowed so perfect throughout. I am sad to see it end but wow what a great story it was.
It pretty much picks up where Emerald Destiny left off. Abby and Evan’s relationship continues to grow. We get to meet and love Claire, the girl, not the car. You need to read the first two books to understand this. Daniel really becomes his own person and starts making a life for himself. While at the same time he is still linked to his twin sister Abby. I enjoyed the new characters and at the same time reconnecting with previous and unexpected ones. Unanswered questions were answered in this one and I was surprised by some of the revelations. The near ending was unexpected and a bit shocking. The end of the book though I enjoyed getting a look at them years later.
All around a fun fantasy that I would recommend. Just so you all know that there are some adult scenes in this one also. I will be on the lookout for more stories from this author. This e-arc was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way. ...more
