The story takes place a hundred years after a nuclear war decimated the world. Hazel grew up in Mainland where she lives a pretty normal life despite everything that has happened. She has always been taught to hate the Outlanders, as they are known to be savages who want to overtake Mainland. She has good reason too, some of them killed her mother and sister and left her father blind.
Now years later Hazel is a programmer for the Mainland Military. She has been given her latest assignment to program a robot to help in the war against the Outlanders. The robot is known as Prototype D or as Hazel calls him Des. He is programmed to be human like with thoughts and emotions. When he fails a simulation test because of fear, Bracken, the Military Commander wants him shut down. He orders Hazel to get rid of that robot and program another more advanced robot with no fear. This produces robot Prototype E, aka Esroy. He is like an ultimate solider with super cool gadgets and of course no fear. Hazel has a soft spot for Des and convinces her co-worker Roger to let her keep Des.
Commander Bracken does not find out about Des not being shut down until he saves Hazel from fugitive Nolan Ragsdale. It's after being held captive that Hazel learns the truth about what is really going on with the Mainland government and military. This is when she makes a decision that will change her life.
I really enjoyed reading this story. The world and the characters are really well written. I kept forgetting that the robots were not human and were actually robots. The author did an awesome job of making them seem human. The story is full of action, suspense and has many surprises throughout. This is the second book of this author's that I have read and it won't be my last. If you enjoy dystopian, post-apocalyptic or sci-fi you should check this book and others from this author! That is the thing to say after finishing this amazing trilogy. This was by far the best of the three, although the first two books were really good too. This last one just blew me away.
Evie and Quinn think all the craziness with the servants is behind them after the third incident. What they don't realize is that the worst is yet to come. Not only are the servants still planning on converting Quinn but they also want to destroy Evie. Together along with their friends they must find a way to stop this from happening. Evie and Quinn also must figure out how to get their souls to bond since they are "true soul mates". Will they survive or will they be unable to save each other?
I, like Evie was very skeptical of Minerva, aka "M", Dylan's new girlfriend. Even though he trusts her completely I still felt there was something off about her. Then when Ronald and his brother would warn them about someone close to them not being who they think, well I was like run away from Minerva. She has a very unique story that she shares with Evie. She also has some really awesome super powers. By the end of the book I really had come to like M like everyone else, she was a great character and brought something unique to the story. Dylan, I still loved him throughout. He by far is one of my most favorite characters of any book series that I have read.
I could go on and on about everything that happened but what fun would that be for other readers? No, I will keep all the goodies to myself. You need to read this truly amazing love story mixed with shepherds and demons. I will say that there are many happy, humorous, romantic, suspenseful and sad moments. There are lots of twists and turns with many surprises and things that really shocked me. I was on the edge of my seat and my heart was pounding most of the time. This is by far one of my favorite trilogies. If you have not started this book or trilogy I recommend you do. It is SO GOOD! This e-book was provided to me for review. It is by far the best and my favorite of this series so far. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. The author brought so much more to this story and the characters.
Hellsfire and some friends travel to the Burning Sands to try to find Premier and a cure for Princess Krystal. What they find is so much more. From learning about ancient demons to a realm of fairies, Hellsfire has a lot to deal with. He needs to find a cure for Krystal, capture Premier and defeat an ancient, powerful demon. All the while try to figure out ancient runes, survive in the Netherrealm and keep himself and his friends alive.
There is so much excitement that goes on within this story. While it is emotional, suspenseful and full of action, it is so much fun to read. I kept thinking what an incredible adventure Hellsfire is on. But then I thought well I don't think he would see it as an adventure but more as survival. For the reader it is one awesome ride. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next the story would take a sharp turn. The author keeps you on your toes, you never know what is going to happen next.
There are so many new characters along with ones from the previous books that I really like. There are so many new things happening. The last part of the book the author throws a major curve ball into the story. I loved reading it and am looking forward to the coming books in this series! This e-book was provide to me for review. Honoria and her brother move to Arnn from New York City with their aunt and uncle after their parents are killed. She is told right from the start about the legend of Witchwood Hollow. If you venture too far into the forest the witch will trap your soul. She is intrigued right from the start and does all she can to find out more about Witchwood Hollow.
The story follows three girls, Honoria, Albertine and Lady Clifford who are from different time periods, as their stories are told. The characters are all very likable and I enjoyed learning about their backgrounds and how they each are a part of Witchwood Hollow. There are lots of twists and turns that lead up to an exciting and surprising ending. I will be on the lookout for other books from this author in the future. When you get to the last page it leaves you feeling happy about the ending but sad that you finished reading. I highly recommend reading this book by one of my favorite authors.
Victoria is a teenager who is a cheerleader with lots of friends and is pretty popular. There is just one thing that her friends don’t know about her. She is a hybrid werelion and her father if the alpha werelion of his pride. Victoria has never really felt part of either life though. She is not fully a human or a werelion. She has super strength, can run really fast and has the ability to heal quickly. But she cannot shift.
Victoria is excited to visit her dad for spring break and see her friends in the pride. When her dad shows up to pick her up he has Brandon with him. Brandon is this totally hot werelion that will turn Victoria’s world upside down. Spring break is over before she knows it but her dad has a surprise for her. Brandon is going to be going back with Victoria and going to finish out the school year at her school and protect her. During the two months they become close friends with a little romance here and there. Victoria or as Brandon calls her Tori, is falling fast for Brandon. The only problem though is Brandon doesn’t know if he wants a mate who is a non lioness.
Not long after they return to her dad’s house for the Summer something unexpected happens and causes Victoria to move permanently with her dad and the pride. Things start to get real interesting after this. Michael, a childhood friend and werelion comes back into Victoria’s life and causes a bit of a love triangle. Then there is Bob, a crazy werewolf that is obsessed with Victoria and wants her all for himself. His pride of werewolves wants to start a war with the werelions and will use Victoria as bait to get it started.
I hope that I haven’t revealed too much of the story already. I would love to keep on gushing about what happens but I am going to recommend that you read this book. There is so much more to it and it is SO GOOD. I would give it more than five stars if it were possible. I fell in love with the story and of course Brandon. It is on my favorites lists now. It seems like a stand alone book but I am really hoping that there is going to be a sequel. I want more stories to come from this amazing book. This e-arc was provided to me for review. The beginning of the book was a bit slow for me but as I continued to read on I realized that it was all part of the story building. The things that happened in the beginning make sense as the story progresses. The last part of the book is really good and the ending had my jaw dropping. Overall a a great story. Well author Allie Burke has drawn me into another wonderful dark story. When I was told that it was tied into another series of her's, the Enchanters, that I loved I knew I wanted to read it.
The story is set in post apocalyptic time of what used to be Malibu, California. There are three groups of people, the Holies (hippie like, who don't speak and are pretty easy going), the Gunners (will and do kill anything in their way) and the Enders (zombies). Jett and her family are Holies who come in contact with Devlin, a mortal enemy. When Devlin's father finds out that he is being friendly with Jett, things turn dark. It seems as though a war is going to start and continue between them.
The author writes a very raw, dark story that is very easy to visualize. I liked seeing references of the characters from the Enchanters series and how they tie into these characters. There is romance, which I always love, suspense and lots of action. Overall a great read. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way. ...more

Just when everyone thinks that they can finally settle down and live their lives everything is turned upside down again. Between the mob, the professor and the senator all after them which way do they turn?
I could just start gushing about everything that happened in this final installment but I am not going to spoil it for anyone. I will tell you though that it is action and suspense packed from beginning to end. My heart was racing during so many scenes. I felt like I was on a rollarcoaster ride. The suspense was like that. You're heart is racing waiting for it to get to the top and then go over the other side at full speed. There are so many twists and turns I didn't know what to expect to happen next. The romance is there, but it's not overdone which I liked.
This book and really all of the books in this series are very well written. I loved how each character got their time in the "spotlight" in this story. We got to get to know each character and their personal story. I have to say that Caledonia and Calvin are still my favorites. But I have come to really like Layla, Ramon, Michael and Mina. I thought the author did a great job with how each one of them came together to help get the others out of some really dangerous situations. I am happy that the mob, the professor and the senator got what they deserved.
All the loose ends were tied up nicely. The ending was not rushed and we got to see into the future of each character. I loved how everything turned out and what Caledonia and Calvin were doing with their money. All around a happy ending for everyone. It was so neat to see and remember how each one of them started out in the first books and how they have transformed into these amazing people by the end. I just wish that there were more books because I am going to miss everyone. I had such a great time enjoying reading this series. I guess I will have to re-read it again sometime in the future. That's what you do with your favorites right? This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way. ...more

The Caledonian Inheritance focuses mainly on Layla. We get some interaction with the others but the story is centered around Layla and what is going on with her. It was nice to learn more about her.
All four, Caledonia, Calvin, Michael and Layla are living in a house together while they make plans to build a big house on their property where their parents lived. In the previous books I had mixed feelings about Layla. I didn't like the way that she manipulated people all the time. But at the same time I felt bad for her with her upbringing and all. In this book though she has really started to come into her own. She is living life and has a great new boyfriend, Ramon. I am happy with this because when the last book ended I was hoping that they would end up together. He is a great guy and a police officer in the town where Layla now lives. I found myself laughing at times when they are out somewhere. Things that are so common to Ramon like going to a fast food drive-thru are all new to Layla.
Things are going great for Layla until she decides that she wants to see if she can find out who her father is. The one person that she thinks would know is Professor Reed. All he seems to do is cause more problems for Layla and her family and will do whatever it takes to finance his crazy projects. When he sets up a meeting with Layla this is where things go from bad to worse. Will Layla ever be able to get away from the Professor? What will happen when Ramon finds out about her powers? There is so much more great things that happen but I'm not going to give away any more.
This is a great series that I highly recommend reading. I can't wait to start reading the final installment, The Redcastle Redemption. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

I flew through this story, I could not put it down. I liked how the story was told not just about Caledonia and Calvin but also Layla and Michael. Although Caledonia and Calvin are my favorites.
It picks up where The Athena Effect left off. Caledonia and Calvin are on the run since her escape from the mad scientist Professor Reed. With little money and danger lurking everywhere they sleep in a tent or cheap motels and move from town to town every couple days. When Calvin discovers a way to make money using Caledonia's powers they end up in Las Vegas. It's here that Caledonia meets a woman who points her in a whole new direction about her powers. It's turns out that her power of persuasion is not from Professor Reed's experiments but is actually genetic. When Caledonia turns 18 her and Calvin head to her little cabin in the woods. When she goes to claims her cabin and land she discovers that she has inherited so much more. She also finds out who her relatives are and so much more about her family history.
Layla and Micheal are now living in Los Angeles with Max. Micheal is Max's right hand man with the finances. In return Max is proving Micheal with a life of luxury. Layla on the other hand has to use her powers of persuasion on men so Max can blackmail them later for money.
There are so many thrilling, twists and turns, edge of your seat moments that I could go on and on. This was one exciting story to read. I can't wait to see what happens next! This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way....more

Brie anHallowed is a fast, fun and well written story. I was pulled in right from the beginning and was left wanting more when I finished reading it.
Brie and her brother Pilot move to Hawaii to live with their rock star dad after their mom is killed in a plane crash. Brie is struggling with making friends, her relationship with her dad, dodging the paparazzi and when finding out that she is a Hallow. She is not just any Hallow though, she is a powerful one. Pilot has his own issues, trying to keep Brie out of trouble and his feelings toward a girl named Kennedy. It doesn't take long before things start getting out of control. Once others, both good and evil find out what Brie is it seems everyone is after her.
The story is told from different view points which I liked. The author did a great job setting up the scenes and giving the reader just enough without giving too much away. It was so good that I didn't want to put it down. I would recommend this young adult fantasy readers. I really enjoyed it and am excited to find out what is in store for rest of the series.
