I finally got a chance to read this one and wished I had read it a long time ago. It was really good. I loved Jace as I have read in other reviews that most people do. I loved his cocky so sure of himself attitude. This book has it all, action, adventure, a little romance. I loved how the author brought all the mythical beings into one book. Clary is a strong character and I enjoyed her story. Alec I did not really care for, but can't like all the characters sometimes. Clary, Simon, Isabelle and Jace just make me laugh. I loved the shadowhunter world, it was somewhat unique and fun. The middle to ending of the book has a major twist. I did not see it coming and almost put the book down because I could not believe that Cassie would change the story and characters like that. I loved Jace in the beginning but towards the end I thought he became to soft and weak. I hope he is more like himself in the next book. The plot flows really well and it's just a great start to what is I hope a wonderful series.(less)

I loved reading this scene from Jace's point of view. It was one of my favorites in the book too.

What can I say about this one. Well it sure did not disappoint for being the second book. The first one was so good but I think this one was even better. This one kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. With it's non stop suspense and action I didn't want to put it down. While Clary's mom Jocelyn is still under a spell Clary is fighting demons and Valentine non stop. Her relationship with Simon has become something more and yet she still has feelings for Jace. I mean who wouldn't, I would choose Jace over Simon any day. Simon is great though and now that he is a Vampire it just makes his character stronger. I like Alec and Magnus together, I was laughing when Clary put the "No Fear" Rune on Alec and he almost told his parents about him and Mangus. My favorite part though was when they were in the Faery court and Clary had to do what the Queen said to be released. Don't want to say if someone has not read it yet. The battle on Valentine's ship was incredible and well thought out. You never knew what was coming next. I never know when Valentine is telling the truth and when he is lying. Something the Inquisitor said to Jace about his scar has me thinking. I really hope that Jace and Clary find out that they are not brother and sister. I really enjoyed reading this, the story just gets better with each book. I can't wait to read the third one and I have the fourth one pre ordered already. If you haven't started this series yet, you need to!(less)

City of Glass was such an amazing book. This series is one of my favorites of all time.
The other two books took place in New York but this one takes place in Idris. I loved the setting and getting to see where the Shadowhunters originally came from. I was once again drawn in from the beginning and could not put it down. It is a real page turner for sure. It had some new characters that I didn't really care for but can't like them all sometimes. It had so many twists and turns, murder, mystery, action, adventure and romance. The story flowed along perfectly. I loved how the characters relationships developed throughout the book. The way that some of them became couples and others I'm wondering about for future books. I was happy to finally learn the truth about Clary and Jace's families. I liked the way that things worked out for everyone. There were some special moments between Clary and Jace that were both romantic and heartbreaking at times. I'm still wondering what the Seelie Queen wanted as a favor. The ending was lovely but it kinda left me wondering what is going to happen next. Thankfully I get to find out with three more books coming out! Yes I already mentioned that but I'm so happy to get to fall back into such an amazing world with characters I love!
I'm looking forward to reading Jace's letter to Clary and seeing how their relationship plays out. In my opinion this is one of the best series out there, and I'm recommending to anyone who hasn't read it to read it now!(less)

It just seems to get better with each book. In this fourth installment, Jace and Clary are in love and finally together. Simon is dating two girls at the same time and Luke and Joceyln are planning their wedding. Oh yeah and Alec and Mangus are traveling the world. Everything is going smoothly until Shadowhunters start turning up dead, someone is trying to make babies like Sebastian and Jace starts pulling away from Clary.
Cassie has such a way with words that takes you on a rollar coaster ride from beginning to end. I loved the new characters and the way that they brought new storylines for future books. I was a little shocked to find out who Jordan was, but I really liked him and what he brought to this book.
Jace is having nightmares that he is with Clary and that he tries to kill her. He thinks he needs to distance himself from her. At the same time Clary is trying to figure out what is wrong again with Jace. Simon is becoming a favorite of mine. His struggles with his love life, home life and just being a vampire. Now he has to deal with Camille and whether or not he should take her up on her offer. Alec and Mangus were absent for almost the first half of the book but they make their return at just the right time. Isabelle had me laughing out loud with her comment about them returnig. All the relationships were well written, I love Alec and Mangus and their arguments and make ups. Jace and Clary drove me a little crazy throughout, sometimes I wanted to yell at them, get it together already. I am hoping that there is more to come with Simon and Isabelle, they are great together.
Overall it was fantastic as always. My favorite scene was with Jace and Clary in the alley. Loved it! The ending had me on the edge of my seat and my mouth fell open on the last couple pages. What a thrilling ride this one was. More to come in this series and I can't wait! You really need to read this series if you haven't already. (less)
