Such a secretive agency that the president doesn't even know about it and it's been on its own power for so long that it only recently comes back to the attention of Homeland Security, etc. everyone who works within the agency is very much in their own sphere of the world so for me it fits the notion of a secret society - they've been hoarding technological innovations for so lomg that they no longer even fit in with our normal society.
I loved this one, I have to admit when I first started reading and realized how much physics and scientific jargon was being thrown around that I was overwhelmed and I wondered if I'd be able to continue reading. I decided that since I was riveted to the story at heart - even so short in - that I wanted to give it a try and as long as I could understand the gist of what was going on that I wouldn't focus on the minute details. That worked for me and I was able to slip into the story.
This is a thrill ride! You never could guess what was around the next corner, who was going to be with you or against you and I was fascinated by all the futuristic tech!
So I would suggest this to anyone who loves a good futuristic read, but yet set in the "now" and if you love SciFi this one is definitely for you! And even if you - like me, like SciFi as long as it's not to hardcore with the jargon - give this one a try, if you can enjoy the story itself without trying to completely understand all the jargon - and the author does a good job of helping readers get the gist, read this! I tell you the story will have you within it's grasp from the outset! ...more

Gah, I need the second book now! I guessed the big twist at the end before Sal figured it out, although like her, I didn't quite want to believe it. There were so many unexpected twists and turns throughout tho..and omg the creepiest children's book I've ever heard quoted from made this book even better. I seriously can't wait for the second book in the series..!!
I highly recommend this for mystery-lovers even if you're not into SciFi ish plots! this will suck you in! It's very approachable and had me turning the pages until I couldn't keep my eyes open. The only reason why it took me so long to finish was because I kept falling asleep before I'd even get to open the book! Which was really starting to irritate me. So, so good. When does the next book come out already?!...more

That being said, he's also consumed with trying to find a "thin space" which is supposedly according to lore a place where this world and the afterlife sort of collide and the "veil" so to say is easier to pierce through because it's "thinner" there.
I really liked Marsh's character, he is so believable and likeable. You can completely relate to his situation - at least I can having lost my sister while I was in high school. You go numb, suddenly things don't seem to matter like they used to - not school work, not friends.. you just basically enter a fog and I personally didn't even realize how much of a fog I truly was in until I came out of it. Or at least the worst part of it.
I can't say a lot about Thin Space because I don't want to spoil things but there's a major twist at the end that I didn't see coming at all, maybe I should've because once it was revealed you realize how many hints there are about it previous, but I'm glad that I didn't guess it because it made it that much more intriguing. I love books when there are things you just don't see coming.
So, I can honestly recommend this not only to those who like a bit of the supernatural but ALSO to those who like a good contemporary because really - the supernatural aspect doesn't take up that much of the book - their search does, but not the actual "event" so to speak. :) ...more

Iona, she is such a bright, happy, cheerful woman who desires nothing more than to be loved and to love. When she moves to Ireland she finds the love she desires - in family, and friends and more.
This is my first Nora Roberts book I've read - because I'm not one to read books where romance is the main stage of the plot. This was a nice mix. Although I did feel like it was kind of slow getting to the main battle with Cabhan - although I should've realized it wouldn't be over since it's a trilogy after all. But I felt like it dragged on a bit getting to the battle. ...more
