My head hurts my eyes are bothering me because my contacts hate when I cry also I think a part of my soul just died. So here is to hoping I can somehow put words into a sentence and make actual sense.
I went into The Next Breath completely misinformed. I thought this was a series book and I was somehow jumping in. This is NOT the case people not by a long shot. While Osterkamp has several books out involving these characters they are in no way a series. You can read any of her novels and not feel like you are missing something huge ( so im told. Though I have to say that was my experience with The Next Breath. ANOTHER thing I got wrong was I thought this was a book about a girl dating a guy with CF and then meets another guy. Love triangle you know how it is. Yep thats not what this is about at all.
What its really about is Robin dealing/healing with the loss of her first love. Her college sweetheart and best friend. 10Ish years after they met. I don’t think i’m spoiling anything by pointing that out. Shes now in her 30s dating an incredible guy only shes kept Jed (College boyfriend) kind of a secret. Clearly this wont be a secret for long because just before Jed died he wrote a play. She promised to read it after he passed and if it was good she would find someone to bring it to life and even star in it. So now is the time. The play drew from their life together and then it morphed into something else. It was beautiful.
The story alternated between the past and present. But always in Robins point of view we are there when she meets Jed, when they fall in love, and when he dies. We are there when she loves Nick, changes, heals and is heartbroken. Her joys were my joys her heartbreak was my heartbreak. I keep crying and its not pretty. I haven’t cried so hard since reading Me Before You By Jojo Moyes. Only this time i’m not mad and yelling at my husband because of the male characters behavior.
I cant praise The Next Breath and Laurel Osterkamp enough. I was starting to think I was numb. That somehow I really did break and wouldn’t be able to cry myself into oblivion again. I was wrong clearly its possible and its beautiful (not really I am one FUGLY crier). This is definitely going on the top 5 fugly cry books.
Hey im actually kind of proud of myself this is actually somewhat articulate....more

All sleek and sexy and then they brought up Starbucks and Iphones clearly I was WAY off the mark. But my crazy little mind just wouldn’t accept that. So sorry Monica.
Violet is the middle child. The sensible one. While her sisters Lily and Rose are larger than life she is meek and humble. Meek and humble has gotten her no where. Her boyfriend is a lying cheating two timing piece of crap and its about time she lose him. After all it seems hes been using her to advance his career. Violet is after all a vital part of her family’s business.
Ryder grew up rough. Parents gone at a young age. He raised himself, he fought, lied, stole and cheated. He did what needed to be done to survive. Until he met Pilar, she gave him food, clothing, and job and sex. They have a very unhealthy relationship.
After witnessing an exchange between Violet and her boyfriend Zachary, Ryder and Pilar devise a plan. Ryder wants Violet he sees the woman underneath it all and he likes what he sees. Only thing is he cant tell Pilar that because she is one wretched woman. She’s evil, all Ryder wants is to get away from her as far away as possible. Violet just wants to get back at Zachary and Ryder is willing to help her with that. They didnt count on catching feeling but it totally happened.
The chemistry between Violet and Ryder was HOT. Ryder is a man that can bring a woman to her knees. I enjoyed these two. Ryder wrecked Violet and Violet repaired Ryder. It was beautiful.
Owning Violet is the first in the Fowler Sisters Series. It was beautiful start to a promising series. While Lily and Rose were in this novel they were supporting characters so you really didnt get a good look at them so Im definitely looking forward to getting to know these sisters a bit more in the upcoming novels. And im anxious to see what kinda sexcapades they get themselves into....more

Now shes sleeping her way through the alphabet. Her boyfriend of 5 years ruined her academic career and left without a trace. She’s drowning and her only hope is a meeting with an old teacher. Hes set up with a major magazine. All she has to do is some under cover work. Find out about the corruption at F & F Sweeny. And she will be become Editor and Chief of the European branch.
Things are starting to go in the right direction. Things with her roomies is good. They party at least once a week and get plastered regularly. Bri and Trey her best friends are finally kinda dating. While Jackson and Shayne are playing the field. This is basically a model house. Everyone is as per usual drop dead gorgeous some know it while others dont. During a few interactions I was just waiting for the orgy to pop off. Didnt happen sorry for that spoiler.
While I thought the main focus would be on Mia at work afterall she is undercover. Most of the good stuff didnt occur at work. Although later some fun stuff does take place.
I really wasnt a big fan of Mia’s She really just annoyed me. I couldnt see what everyone else saw in her and why they would be so fiercely devoted to her. My only guess is that I missed something, whatever the reason we just didnt connect. I rather liked Ethan and his personality. My favorite was Harrison god hes an asshole. I will say Koenig can write an asshole.
I basically spent my day yelling at Mia and cheering Harrison on. Im weird sometimes I just connect with the wrong people but I CONNECT and well that means something to me.
The story ended somewhat cliffangerish. But thankfully there was sneak peek at the end so yayy for that. If your into the employer/employee relationship perhaps you should check this one out....more
