She decides to tell him goodbye and explain to his gravestone that she needs to move on. She also says goodbye to his best friend Dash she doesnt want to hold him back any longer. So on the 2nd anniversary of her husbands death she joins a D/S club looking to be dominated. Wait that was probably a terrible transition.
While those are the facts the transition in the book is way less terrible. Sure for me it was a little crazy, but thats me perhaps you may feel differently. Joss confides in her 2 best friends Cheesy, and Kylie (her sister in law) her plans to find a dominate. I mean that took some guts. I dont think I could tell my best friends let alone my sister in law who is still pretty torn up about the loss of her brother. Cheesy totally cheers her on after all shes in the lifestyle. Book 3 Taking It All is about her relationship. Kylie well she doesnt take it well and views BDSM as a form of abuse, and after the abuse she and her brother received as a child shes none to keen on it. Book 2 Giving In is about her sex life and I have to admit that one im sure anxious to get to and I will be soon!
What she didnt expect walking into The House was to see Dash. And Dash sure as hell didnt expect to see her and he was none to keen on that guy who was talking to Joss. Possessively he takes her, threatens the guys life which the guy took surprisingly well and I didnt understand it. Only because he totally ripped the guy a new one in front of everyone and he took it. Now if im a Dom male and some dude calls me out in front of the whole club im going to get physical really fucking quick. Of course this could be me talking out of my ass because I know nothing about the lifestyle.
So Dash ends up professing his deep love for Joss and tells her she wont do BDSM unless HE is her Dom. He gives her time to think about this. Which she kind of takes. Its hard for her because shes still in love with Carson. Her mind is definitely whirling. Dash has basically been in love with her since minute one. Carson knew but he trusted them both and since Dash never acted on any of it they were cool. Of course she ends up agreeing to submit to him. And they have crazy adventurous sex that only Maya Banks can write. I mean they were HOT. I literally had to stop reading at work for fear of the blushing totally giving me away. Plus having unpure thoughts at work freaks me out! Everything went soo smoothly I kept waiting for the drama. And then BAM it hit. It took awhile but I was distracted by the large amount of hot sex that I didnt even realize the drama was missing. So im not complaining.
The thing is im kind of meh about the characters. Joss just couldnt go a second without think about Carsen and if I had to hear one more time that she was worried about disappointing Dash I was going to slap her. I swear they had the same conversations almost word for word a few times. And Dash Oh My God who talks like that! Hes so proper I wanted Joss the feck the proper out of him. I know your like super confused if im meh about the characters how can I love the story as much as I do. The answer shit if I know. Perhaps its Banks ability to make me forget they are slightly annoying to me.
This series had me at hello. Seriously the whole premise I loved. This is my first novel ive read from Banks. I have been eyeing her for awhile though. Im kicking myself for not reading her works sooner. ...more

The build up freaks me out I start to get anxious. Im really weird that way. But for some reason I love to freak myself out. I dont read thrillers often probably because I would be a nervous wreck and unable to function in society. Lucky for me I read this really quickly.
How to fall starts off with the tragic death of Freya. Well its a fade to black death but that doesnt make it any less tragic. After the fade to black we meet Jess Tennant, Freya's long lost cousin. Their mothers are twins however when Jess's mom met and married her dad (jess's) she cut herself off of the family. She moved away and so the cousins had never met. Now Jess's parents are divorced and her mother has reconciled with her sister so back to Port Sentinel for the summer. Along the way Jess's mom is kind enough to let her know a little abit about her family she tells her of the loss of Freya and shows her a picture.. They couldve been twins! Which of course will freak out the towns people.
Strangely enough jess kinda takes over Freya's life. Which kinda works for her because she's convinced Freya was murdered and well victimology will come in handy right? At first glance everyone in the town freaks, thinking Freya has come back from the dead only with longer hair and not so great clothing. Apparently fashion is HUGE in Port Sentinel. She quickly becomes friends with Freya's friends they even share enemies! Theres a lot of people in town not okay with Jess trying to get to the bottom of Freya's death I was surprised she didnt receive a death threat or like a dead animal at her doorstep.. I think that might say a lot about me sooooo REDIRECT!
One of the towns people Jess has befriended is Will. Will lived behind Freya's family and was apart of the family for sometime. Until things got really weird with Freya. Will proves to be very vital to the story. As for the girls of Port Sentinel Im pretty sure they existed in Mean Girls and thank sweet baby jesus I never knew girls like this.. Jealousy over guys is soo beyond stupid. New flash people. NO MAN IS WORTH BEING AN EVIL SHIT.
There were some pretty interesting characters in this story and I have to say I really loved Jess's boss anyone out to save owls is a okay in my book and an instant hit! Will's dad Dan is a hot freaking mess and I wanted to punch him in the throat. Freya's family they kind of played a back seat for me which I found odd since Jess basically took over her life.. I thought for sure they would play a bigger part.
The murder in this story came out of left field for me. I really had it pegged as someone else. But thats the beauty of a well told story. Lost in my own thoughts of the characters I was blindsided and it was AWESOME! Now this book wasnt non stop action quite the contrary. It was slow even paced, but not slow enough for me to loose interest. But slow enough for me not to be a SPAZZ. ...more

Imagine being in love with a book so much so that you do a short film. Meet the author who you admire and BAM are cast in a live action film based on the book. Yeah that would be AWESOME! So thats kinda basically what happens in Fangirl only a lot more and just awesomeness!
There is a LOT to be said about a book that you pick up and 20 pages later KNOW just KNOW in your bones that you are going to love. Thats exactly what happens to me EVERYTIME I pick up a book penned by Angel Lawson. Ive been fangirling over her for years now. Her writing simply stuns me.
Ruby fell in love with a graphic novel because of her no good cheating ex boyfriend. The fact that he was an ass didnt stop her from creating a fan site with her best friend, Iris. It was a pretty decent website to the girls were pretty dedicated. So much so they created a small short film starring Ruby and directed by Iris. Sure they thought they would get a few hits but it went viral. VIRAL! I would DIE. DIE I tell you and not reanimate because im not a zombie person at all. I dont like them cant do it. Its just not for me. While others are obsessed I totally respect that its just soemthing I have YET to get behind. So that being said this book isnt really about zombies more a behind the movie and Ruby’s life kinda book. To be honest I was expecting zombies and kinda dreading it.
Living in the limelight is something really unexpected for Ruby. She really never thought of herself as the true heroine just filling the roll for Iris. But it becomes clear Ruby is definitely the girl for the job her passion comes through and I love that. Incase you cant tell im a very passionate person when I love something I go balls to the wall for it. I could really relate to Ruby which was great but I rarely feel so connected and in tune with the heroines. Its usually the snarky sidekicks.
Of course there is a bit of a love triangle. Clearly invovling Ruby, her costar Andrew Xavier and the creator of Zocopalyse Gabe Foster. I probably shouldve mentioned earlier the grpahic novel is called Zocopalyse. I totally was #teamgabe! While Andrew is a walking god Gabe was more Ruby’s speed and the chemistry was wonderful.
Heres the thing that kills me about this book. SO many people just over look it. I want to scream from the rooftops how amazing this story is. Are you hearing me world? ITS AMAZING! Grab it and give it a try im telling you before you know it youll be hooked....more

Im a sucker for mythology and a great story. And what a coincidence this story has both! Sit back and lets talk, yes?
Inheritance mixes Egyptian mythology with present day New Orleans because you know they go together naturally right. Okay so they dont but for this they really do. Syn is a warrior one who is being punished. She has been stripped of all feelings so that she can do the job that is demanded of her. Previously she kinda went on a rampage and killed a lot of humans.
Thousands of years old she relys on only herself these days. Which is fine she is totally badass. Shes a wonderful example of how heroines should be written. Not these whiney little girls. She did have partners in the past and well for one reason or another they didnt work out. She believed she cared for her last partner which is odd because again she had been stripped of her feelings.
Her last partner imprinted with “the key” im really not going to go into explaining that part and youll have to forgive me because the way it is written is so damn perfect. Seriously its captivating! As a result of the imprint William and Katie are sent off to an undisclosed location where they are to live in secret.
Syn is called by Iris to protect a guy in New Orleans and that how we get there. Its theorized someone within the guardians is a traitor. Shes not completely alone she has a partner in Echo. Echo is awesome and I loved him. He is essentially a shapeshifter. I mean come on thats awesome, Echo does have a tell his eyes cannot change. Also he doesnt speak, hes deaf. How Syn didnt figure this out I have no idea. Shes also got Malachi someone who she doesnt exactly trust. But he proves to be a worthy alley.
Remy grew up believing his parents were truly in fact his parents. Sadly after they both die he finds out he was adopted and that his true parents set up a trust fund for him. Oh by the way this is the guy Syn is sent to protect.
This novel is captivating from start to finish. There was always something going on. Thrilling and humorous! Whiteside knows how to tell a story! I cannot wait to read the next story in this series especially after that curveball at the end of this one! It wasnt exactly a cliffhanger but youll definitely be asking for more as soon as you finish! ...more
