Dark Inside was so much better than I expected. End of the world, survival stories are not my usual thing, I don't really like them. Dark Inside has changed that. It was the type of book that once started was very difficult to put down.
Basically, there are earthquakes all around the world, and people have started going crazy, turning on each other with brutal violence. The book is told in the voices of four teenage survivors. Initially, I thought it would be about these four only. But they don't actually meet until near the end. Throughout the main bulk, they meet other people, and end up with their own little groups. I loved that. There was all these very different people who had to band together to survive.
This book is scary. While reading it, I was wondering what I would do in this situation, and the truth of the matter is, I don't know. I was thinking all sorts, like how would I keep my cats with me. I couldn't realistically carry two carriers everywhere. I'd have to get leashes for them. And what about their food? But then there's the fact that you need clothes, and medical stuff. Food for yourself. How would you carry it all? It's a genuinely horrifying thought and I hope never to experience it. What makes the book scary, is that it is all too believable. (less)
