I must be in love with the concept of angel, half-angels and demons! There isn't any other way to describe it... I find myself loving any book with this theme: The Hush Hush novels? Yes. The Hallowed Series? Heck-to-the-freaking-YEAH!! And now Immortal City! I just can't get enough!(less)

I eagerly gobble up anything set in that era. Which this is. And I love it. And I hope Will and Cora are going to finally get something going in the next book. I liked Pierre, but I just feel that Will is more suited for Cora. :)
I read some reviews stating that this book is ok if you don't mind some religion mixed into your read... And true, it does have a faith-based storyline. But I didn't find it cloying. Especially because this story in set in a time when people were more in touch with their spirituality. I thought it was fitting.
I am just sorry I have to wait until next year to see how this story unfolds.(less)

I only got about 30 paged read at work and then I went home and sat down and all the sudden! I had 250 pages read! It was a quick read with the usual twists and turns in the plot.
I do enjoy the fact that Iris finally figured out what really happened with her mom. In the review of The Girl is Murder, I stated that I wanted to see more o Suze. I was a little glum when that didn't happen. But I was glad to see more Benny. I think he is good for Iris.
Hopefully there is to be a third book and we can see that develope. :)(less)

I... I... have no idea how to process this book.
I haven't ever read a book with creepier vamps in it. Truly. The imagery was startling and almost had a violent quality to it. I liked it. :)
I liked Gene's character, but we are still settling into who he is and what's going to happen from here. I don't know how I feel about Ashley June. And I don't know if I completely trust anything she says.
I like the hepers. I'm excited to see what happens in the next one!

I had a hard time with the first 200 pages of this book. I went back and forth on whether or not to pick it back up and finish. Aaaand I'm kind of really glad I did. :)
At about page 220 I really started to enjoy the story. I didn't really have any connection to the characters before that point.
I like the whole concept behind the Partials species. I think it is a cool take on AI. And isn't this something that we all fear in the future? I race of beings created by us that is strong enough, smart enough and powerful enough to overthrow us?
I'm excited to see where the next one goes as far as the developments with Kira, Samm, ParaGen, the advent of the RM virus and too many other aspects to list here!
Do you think there could be a lil' sumthin-sumthin goin' on with K &S? If she is what she thinks she is... Why not? Maybe something will be a-brewin' in the next installment... Who knows?

It may seem like all these ingredients wouldn't fit, but they do: steampunk, paranormal, a bit of fright, romance... Together. Awesome. Even the naughty parts... ;) Haha.
And who would have thought I would have a crush on a fictional character named Criminy Stain? *fan myself now*(less)

Ok. To start off, I am slightly obsessed with the lore of angels, demons and nephilim. I love all the aspects about them and I like that they seem to be the new "thing" in YA fiction. With that said, I enjoyed this book immensley.
The concept of pairing a sin or vice with a demon was original and I liked it. :) It made it just that much more interesting.
Anna was sort of a wishy-washy main character, but I get it. She didn't even know what the heck she was until 8 months ago!
Kaidan. Oh mama. I love me my bad boys. Kai isn't someone you'd take home to mom. That's ok. I'll take him somewhere else. Haha. But, really, getting back to business. I felt that he is the standard tortured-and-bad-but-way-way-deep-down-there-is-a-heart-of-gold kind of guy. I feel like he needs to get over it and be the good-ish character he needs to be. But that just might be my idealist/romantic self shining through. Whatev.
All the other things about this book were original and fascinating: idividual guardian angels; the auras; the Legionaires; that mystery of a sword hilt...
Higgins hasn't released anything on the next book, but I'm hoping something will come our my way soon! (less)
Oooook. So I wasn't as upset with this book as so many others. But sometimes the writing style threw me off a little.

Oh, and I totally called the crazy (or not so crazy) plot twist in the last chapter. :) (less)
