Like most poetry books, it is not meant to be devoured in one sitting. (Even though that's what I did.) This is especially true because the poems all have the same structure.
My favorite poems were based on fairy tales. I think it would be fun to read the actual fairy tale then the corresponding poem from this collection. An extending activity could be to have class members write false apology poems "by" other characters in the fairy tale.
