I have been underneath a rock since 2009 I guess because I wish I had read this book/series sooner. Now I’m making time to because darn it…I have been in a reading rut and needed something to get me out of it. Thank goodness for Angel’s Blood because I’m out of that rut and I’m now obsessed over Nalini’s Guild Hunter series. In fact, I read this book so fast that I’m already having withdrawals. Thank goodness for having the next couple of books in the series on hand, otherwise I would be driving my family crazy. (especially the husband)The minute I started reading Angel’s Blood I knew I was not going to get anything done. The very first page had me hooked into this world that Nalini Singh created. There is nothing new about me loving kick butt female characters because I prefer heroines that can handle their own, other the damsel in distress. Elena is that character in this book and Nalini got me liking her the minute she stood up to Raphael (the archangel). Oh…how I LOVED Raphael in this book. He was one lethal, sexy archangel that I loved following in the story. Elena is a Guild Hunter who hunts vampires that the archangels want back who try to run from their duties. Elena has been tasked though to hunt down a archangel that has gone rogue. She’s going to be tested and put through a lot during this mission because she has the sexy, dark archangel making sure she doesn’t screw up. In the mean time, she’s trying to resists his charms, and Raphael is trying to resist losing his angel powers to a human that intrigues him.Nalini creates a different world where nothing is what it seems. There are archangels in the world that try to keep everything in order, but it’s kind of hard when one of them goes rogue. In comes the importance of the Guild Hunters who help in the matter of the rogue vampires and now rogue archangels. Elena is the strong female lead in the story that will steal the show with her personality, and Raphael is the dangerous archangel that you will either love or hate. In my case…I LOVED him! I loved how Nalini made the story in different points of views, so the reader can follow Elena and Raphael in the story. It made the story very well with the back and forth between the characters.I also enjoyed the ending. I kind of expected the ending, but was still blown away with how Nalini ended it. Okay…I admit it was an explosive ending. Now I need to just find time to read the next books in the series back to back with no interruption. Must convince the husband to let me have 3 to 4 days by myself to read them. Ha…we’ll see how it goes. He did allow me to have my birthday weekend last year to read a series. It was my birthday wish and he knew I rather read books then have an actual birthday present (but he still got me an amazing birthday present) =)I give this book 5 full moons (ten if I could) and highly recommend it to UF/PNR readers out there....more

From the beginning to the end of this book, you’ll be on the edge of your seat because Elena is not only having to deal with Lijuan but several other nuisances. Poor Elena can’t catch a break, and Nalini is going to put Elena and Raphael through several tests with each other. She also tests Elena a lot with her strength. Let’s just say I was constantly worrying for Elena’s safety, but I knew my girl could get through it all. The person who ticked me off the most was another archangel who keeps giving Elena a hard time. Get a life, archangel!
I could go on and on about how much I loved this story, but I’m going to move along and finish reading the next book in the series. I’m having hard time leaving Elena and Raphael for too long. I need to know what happens next to these two.
Nalini makes her Guild Hunter series very addicting and hard to put down. I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend this series to UF/PNR readers out there....more
I read Fallen by Lauren Kate back in 2010, when I was reading like a mad woman before I started reviewing books. Thanks to my local library I was able to listen to Fallen on my drive to my oldest daughter's school in the morning and afternoon.
I loved Luce's character because she doesn't do anything to stop her for what she wants, even if something is haunting her. She is determined more than ever to figure out why Daniel is the way he is, and she also is dealing with several other things in Fallen that I definitely don't want to give away. I enjoyed the triangle in the book that Lauren Kate throws in and I also enjoyed what comes forward in the book. One of my favorite paranormal elements is in the book and forewarning there is a slight cliffhanger. It leaves the reader knowing there will be more. So many more questions must be answered and I know back in 2010 I had to wait until the second book was out the following year. Now I can read them back to back, as long as my library carries the audiobooks for me.
I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to Young Adult readers out there. Fallen is being made into a movie, or actually it has. I'm just waiting for it to be announced, when it will officially come out. =)...more
Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh Archangel's Consort is the third book to Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series andReview posted at Book Lovin' Mamas
Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh Archangel's Consort is the third book to Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series and it's just as addicting as the first two. If you haven't started reading this series I highly recommend you read them in order, otherwise you will miss out on reading Elena and Raphael's relationship growing. I friggin' love Elena and Raphael's relationship even though Raphael can be a tad overbearing at times with his protection. Elena wants to be able to do her job as a Guild Hunter, but Raphael is a little weary on letting go without one of his Seven being with her. She's still new angel and with that comes weaknesses that Elena needs to live with now. In Archangel's Consort, Elena gets a chance to learn how to fly better, but she is still grasping onto her new life with the beautiful wings that are attached to her. In this installment of the Guild Hunter series, Raphael's mother is showing signs of awakening from being asleep for thousands of years. She wasn't stable back in the day and she most likely won't be stable in the present. Raphael's mother wants her son, but Raphael has to protect everyone else and may end up having to destroy the one person who made him. It's going to be epic battle between mother, son, and others that get in between in Archangel's Consort. Nalini knows how to keep the action going from each book she writes in this series, and I swear each book gets better and better when I'm reading them. I even loved the intimate moments between Raphael and Elena in this book because they definitely have grown further together. Not everyone is on board with Elena and Raphael together, especially since she is his consort. Although, in my opinion Raphael needs Elena even more now since his mother is about to show up. They complete each other and keep each other sane. There are many things that come up in this book that bring to light about Elena's past and her present. She is dealing with a lot still and something comes forward that makes her realize how she became a Guild Hunter. Let's just say lots of shock moments in this installment that will keep you flipping the pages to find out even more shock moments. Ahhh! =) I'm telling you Nalini has a way of sucking the reader in the story, which is why I'm moving right along to the next book in the series. I need more. I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to PNR/UF readers out there. This is one series that has now become a favorite and I look forward to reading way more of this series. =)...more
Okay, I'm going back to re-read (or actually in this case, listen) to my old favorites thanks to my local library. I read Guilty Pleasures back during my binge reading days in the Navy in 2009 - 2011. Let's just say I had a hard time diving back into reality after reading the Anita Blake series. I loved every bit of this series and still do. I thought I would listen to the books in audio this time around.
Anita Blake will always be a favorite female character of mine because she kicks butt and I love kick butt female characters. I also enjoy reading Urban Fantasy because it gets me out of reading funks all the time. UF and PNR are my go to genres to get back into binge-reading like a man woman, even when working full-time again.
I was a little nervous to have someone narrate Guilty Pleasures to me and bring the characters to life, but Kimberly Alexis did an amazing job on telling the story. She even did an amazing job on giving certain characters accents and she made Anita sound kick-butt too. Anxiety averted and now I'm anxious to listen to the second book in audio. Thanks to Kimberly Alexis I have found yet another female narrator that can bring my favorite characters to life and make me enjoy the story even more. ...more

I would’ve definitely finished it sooner, but unfortunately the day job got in the way of my reading time. That’s okay though because I got to spend much needed time with Nick Rogers aka ‘Tiger’ and Faith Winter.
I give this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to Contemporary Romance readers out there and fans of Lisa Renee Jones.

If I Dream is the first book in the Corrupted Love trilogy and I would describe it as a angsty dramatic book. Bring on Ryder who finds himself thrown in a world, where he has to fight to survive. He’s never really had a true family. He ends up becoming apart of family though, as an adopted son of a wealthy man that wants him to fight in fights that he sets up.
K.M. Scott knows how to write a story that will have your emotions a wreck. You’ll go from high to low within a couple of minutes or even seconds because of what Ryder and Serena (especially Serena) go through in the story.

Sins of the Father is the third book to her Mcintire County series and Winter will definitely have you the edge of your seat with suspense.
Winter AustSins of the Father is the third book to her Mcintire County series and Winter will definitely have you the edge of your seat with suspense.
Winter Austin takes us back to McIntire County in Iowa, where another crime has rocked the small town. This time though the town is dealing with a girl gone missing and its up to Jolie Murdoch who is a rookie cop to find her. Unfortunately, she’s going to come across her first clue on what happened to the girl due to stumbling on a corpse and the potential suspect Xavier Hartmann. Xavier Hartmann is a Marine war veteran, who is still recovering from his injuries. Some times he ends up not remembering what he’s done and he never thought he would be suspect one in a murder case.
Sins of the Father leaves you guessing on who is behind the girl’s disappearance, especially when another incident happened so many years ago.
One of the many reasons why I enjoy reading Winter Austin’s books are the characters she writes in her books. They end up being characters that readers will feel for and adore. At least that is how I felt about Jolie and Xavier. Both have their own problems. Jolie is a rookie cop that has her father’s legacy to live up to because he was the previous Sheriff, but she doesn’t really want to follow in his path. She’s one strong-willed and determined character. Then you have Xavier who is a veteran and he has secrets that he’s not willing to tell and he has drama. Both characters definitely are different, but they make each other stronger.
Another reason why I enjoyed Sins of the Father is the storyline. Winter tends to create edgy storylines that have you going along with the characters to figure out the crime. Winter definitely doesn’t make it easy for Jolie and Xavier to figure out what happen to the girl who disappeared. Jolie is going to realize that not every one is who they seem to be and McIntire county has it’s own secrets.
I give this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to fans of the Romantic Suspense genre. If you haven’t read any of Winter Austin’s books I highly recommend you do. ...more

If you are looking for a different re-telling of Cinderella then you definitely have to check out The Black Lily by Juliette Cross. Unfortunately, there’s no Cinderella looking for her prince charming and no prince charming looking for the girl who lost her glass slipper.
Instead, in The Black Lily we have a Vampire Prince who is looking for his next bleeder and a pheasant girl who wants to kill the Vampire Prince. Yup, definitely not the same sweet Cinderella story.
I give this book 5 stars and look forward to reading the next book in the series. I always love fairy re-tellings and I really enjoyed this re-telling of Cinderella because who doesn’t love the paranormal. Nikki Groom is one author I’ve been meaning to read a book from, especially since I have two of her Kingdom books in one of my big book cases. Now after reading Spark in the Ashes, I may have to dig out those books very soon.
The first book introduces the reader to a lot of action and tension between the characters. It’s not only between Ramsey and Sadie though. The ending was the biggest doozy because I definitely was not expecting it.
