This is a very different werewolf story. Jessica McClain is the only female werewolf shifter of her kind, but she cannot shift. The male werewolves believe she is a curse to their kind and they either want to harm he or kill her. Most of them want her dead, except for a select few and one of them being her father, who is trying to protect her. Jessica challenges one of the shifters that hate her to prove herself, but she ends up putting herself in danger even more. Until one day her father is forced to accept Jessica's offer to leave the compound, after she is brutally attacked by one werewolf who wants her dead after she challenged another.
Jessica is one kick butt female who knows how to take care of herself. She's trying everything to live in a world of males who hate her and she is trying to prove to everyone she can take care of herself. Her father is in denial on what is going on in his compound. She has been trying to tell him and his second command that she's no longer safe at the compound.
Amanda Carlson gives you a short novella that is full of action, blood, and humor. She gives you a female who can outwit and challenge the best alpha males out there. She may even scare you with how strong and determined she is...I know I was intimidated and she's only a fictional character. I loved this prequel of Jessica McClain and look forward to reading "Full Blooded" even more now. If you are a fan of Urban Fantasy and want to read about a kick butt heroine that challenges her werewolf kind with strength and wits...then you'll enjoy this short novella from Amanda Carlson. I believe I have found a female heroine who may be my TOP fave kick butt heroine since I started reading the urban fantasy genre. Look forward to reading more of Jessica McClain's story.(less)

When I was contacted for Cora Hawkes Virtual Book Tour....I said to myself....HECK YES...and I had already purchased a copy since I was kind of stalking...Cora Hawkes website to find out when the book would release. I saw the book on Goodreads one day and read the synopsis and knew it was up my alley.
First off...let me get this into my review first. The male character is not a cheater in this book. I repeat...he is not a cheater. Unfortunately, he would be considered a ladies man. He ends up having a girl over every night....but may I also say....he has had it rough and the truth comes out towards the end, what was really going on with him. I repeat again, he is not a cheater. How can he cheat when he is never with a character? Just saying....
I really thought at one point I was going to go through the book and beat the living crap out of both characters and I never, ever feel that way over any characters when I'm reading. I should know by now that New Adult Romance is a genre that makes me love and hate characters.
Here's a short take on "Rocked Under" - Emma has moved to the states to get away from her past and start new. She ends up moving in with her cousin, Ash, who has a friend/neighbor upstairs from them, who is a HE. Scott is the lead singer to the rock band group, From Under, and he is every girl's dream come true. When Emma meets Scott at the local club his band plays at, instant attraction starts. Although, Emma has been warned about Scott's tactics with girls and Scott has be warned by Ash to not get involved with her cousin. Now here starts the part where emotions go haywire for both characters. Emma is fighting her feelings for Scott and Scott is just confused by Emma. Bring on the emotional roller coaster of Emma and Scott and you will want to several times go through the book and knock some sense into both of these characters.
Now...you're probably thinking that I hate this book, but that's not the case. I love a book that makes me angry, happy, and sad all at once. When a book makes me cry and makes me blubber like a baby...then I know I'll be daydreaming about this book until the second book comes out in August.
I loved the angst and the sexual tension in this book. Emma had her issues with what happened in her past and Scott has his relationship issue where he never stayed with the same girl once...but for some reason both of these characters clicked with each other. Scott had his reasons and so did Emma.
If you love the new adult romance genre, love tattooed bad boys, rock bands, and your emotions going like crazy...then you'll enjoy "Rocked Under".
And don't come back and hate me after you finish reading it and loving it and find out the next book is not out until August. I read this book in less than two days and now I'm anxiously waiting for the 2nd book. I really hope Cora doesn't make me hate Scott. He did kind of tick me off every once in awhile in this book, but at the end, he stole my heart. Oh boy...did he steal my heart. (less)

I LOVED this! I finished it in less than 2 hours or maybe less as soon as my youngest went to bed. I loved this world that both Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright created. Hello...it's based in Louisiana (in the bayou), which has Sexy Men that turn into Pumas, and of course those puma men who have magic to them as well....why would you not want to read this. Plus...you have two amazing authors who come together to create it and there is more e-novella's to be told after this one. Oh YES...as soon as I saw it was on Amazon, I bought it and drained my Kindle Fire battery dry.
- I'm typing up this review kind of different from my others because I do not want to give away anything since both stories are short. (so not much explaining the storyline) -
The first part, "Raphael" is from the fabulous author, Alexandra Ivy, where she opens it up with the mystery of the half human, half feline creatures that live in the Bayou and how people avoided the areas due to the fact how enticing creatures were. Unfortunately, they are believed to be a myth because it seems the race is unable to birth any children. The shape shifters reverted to sending out their own kind pass the bayou to find out what could be the cause.
Alexandra Ivy definitely had me from the first page when I was reading her half of the book. I also happened to need a very cold shower after her half as well. Wow! She put some really steamy, sexy scenes in that novella. She definitely introduced the puma race very well and their dilemma and she definitely wrote two characters who had the hots for each other and needed each other. Raphael was very protective of Ashe even when he hardly knew her. I look forward to Alexandra Ivy's next part in the next book. =) The woman can definitely make a reader imagine she's in the story with the characters.
The second part, "Parish" is by another fabulous author, Laura Wright and she definitely did not disappoint either. She picked it up from the ending of "Raphael", but of course with the leader of the Hunters, Parish, sent on a mission to retrieve someone they needed for Ashe and Raphael. The moment Parish finds her, he knows he must have her.
Laura Wright did an amazing job transitioning from picking up from Raphael and putting the previous characters in her story, as well giving Parish and Julia their story. I LOVED it! Of course, Laura put together two characters that were stubborn at first, they had their reasons though, but they were meant to be with each other and help each other out. She definitely left a cliffhanger at the end as well that made me want more. I need the next book now after reading this book because both authors definitely created a fave series for this year for me.
I recommend this book to paranormal romance and shapeshifter readers out there. If you are a feline shapeshifter addicted like I am, you definitely will enjoy this world that Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright have created. Just be prepared to want more though. I know I need some more SEXY Pumas!!! =) If you have not added this book to your to be read list yet (SHAME on you) ... you are missing out from two amazing Authors. (less)

Every once in awhile I read a book that blows my mind. A book that makes me read all day, and stay up all night to finish it because I can’t put it down. I rather sleep deprive myself instead of sleeping so I can find out what happens next to the characters. “Bared to You” is definitely one of those books. The first chapter alone had me excited to keep reading it. Gideon Cross, is a dark and dangerous 28 year old who owns pretty much everything in New York. If you see “Cross” on a Building, he most likely owns it. Yes, he’s young, but he’s business-oriented, determined and intimating at times. He has skeletons in his closet though and refuses to let them out for anyone. He doesn’t want anything to do with his family for some reason and women…especially, brunettes are what he usually favors. He has his gal friends he will not bed with and then his women that he has sex with one time and then discards them afterwards. He’s a very mysterious man who every woman wants though. No matter if he is a player or not. Eva Tramell is a 24 year old strong-willed woman who moved to New York after graduating college. She’s living with her best friend Cary who is a sexy male model who she met through a therapy group she went through. She landed a job at a advertising company which so far she adores. Eva has a traumatic experience she’s trying to forget, but for some reason it comes back haunting her. She has a loving father who lives in California, a crazy over-protective mother and a step-father who enables her mother to do the crazy things she does to Eva. One day Eva bumps into the dark and dangerous Gideon and the moment she sees him, she knows he’s trouble. She did not realize she would end up working in the same building as he did though. Now, Gideon wants Eva and he will stop at nothing to have her. The moment Gideon is described, I even knew he was trouble for Eva, but I also knew I would fall in love with him. For some reason I always fall for the dark, dominant man in a book. I love how Gideon is so up front with Eva when they first meet and whenever they are together period. The first time he confronts her in building where she works too…he bluntly tells her what he wants from her. I think I was just as shocked as Eva…but maybe a little more. Eva tries to avoid Gideon, but who could avoid a sexy, domineering man like him. I sure couldn’t. I do not know how Eva held on for some long. I would’ve succumbed the minute I set eyes on him the first time. This book is sexy, beyond-intense, EROTIC (of course), dramatic (warning…two females you will loathe in this book..at least I did…I won’t spoil who they are though), and it’s also full of twists and turns for both Gideon and Eva. The sex scenes in this book, I had to keep putting down the book after I read them so I could cool off. Yes…they were that GOOD!! You’ll get to feel Eva’s pain and understand what her trauma experience was in her past. You won’t really know what is wrong with Gideon, but you will get a hint on what it could be. He refuses to talk about it though, which frustrates not only Eva…but me as the reader. I recommend this book to readers out there that are addicted to the Erotica Genre and love some BDSM. Fore warning a head of time, once you start this book, you will not want to put it down. The cliff hangers of each chapter, will have you begging for more. I’m looking forward to the next book now because I really want to know what Sylvia is going to do next with the characters. Between Sylvia Day and Karin Tabke…I’m addicted to the Erotica Genre now. There’s no turning back for me. They’ve created a monster and I love every minute of it. =) (less)

"Tempted" is the second book in the Angels Among Us Trilogy and it definitely was another tear jerker. This is the story of Sarah who is a messenger angel who knows the rights and wrongs of what a angel is supposed to do...and one of those wrongs is getting involved with a human. An angel could lose her wings over it and become one of the Fallen Angels. It was just recently Sarah witnessed another angel become a Fallen since she had to make sure it happened. Sarah is about to break her main rule though all because of a former soldier who has been dealing with his own insecurities and past issues from what happened during the time he was in the Army. Jackson Bennett is alone due to almost causing harm to his family. He suffers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after witnessing some of his fellow soldiers dying. He blames it on himself and he is still having a hard time getting over it. He is forced now to be by himself and spy on his son go to school in the morning when his wife drops him off. Sarah is assigned to Jackson due to Jackson being special and coming into powers. God, himself, wants Sarah to help Jackson come over to the good side. She cannot force him though, he has to have his own free will to come over. Jackson is going to learn the true reason on what happened that fateful night that change his life when he was in the Army and also find out the truth on what he is destined to do. In the mean time though Jackson will have to fight his feelings for the beautiful woman, Sarah, who walks into his life and also believe her when she says she's not from his world and she can never be apart of his world forever.
My thoughts on "Tempted" are of course another tear jerker. I should just prepare myself ahead of time when it comes to Elise Marion and her writing style. She knows how to make a reader's emotions go haywire. I am a huge fan when it comes to angels and it seems every time I read a paranormal romance book that involves angels, the water works start falling. Elise Marion definitely made me fall in love with the characters in "Tempted" as well, just like I did in "Fallen." I had already read a little bit on Sarah since she debuted in "Fallen". She definitely was one female character who kept to her job as a Angel...although...Jackson is one male character, which I still do not know how Sarah kept from jumping on the minute she saw him. Sarah helped Jackson's character and Jackson did the same thing for Sarah. They definitely were meant to be with each other from the beginning. Jackson with his demons inside of him, needed Sarah's love and caring to help him through and Sarah needed Jackson for his toughness and stubbornness. "Tempted" actually left me wondering what will happen in the next book since there were some unanswered questions at the end, especially when the truth came about with Jackson and what he was supposed to do. Also, with what eventually happened to Sarah. "Tempted" is a book that will make you realize how tough it is for soldiers who suffer with PTSD. Elise Marion definitely did her research on it and it definitely touched my heart. You only get to see what the media puts out and not from a perspective of the soldier. Even if it is fictional in "Tempted", you have to realize that PTSD is a very serious illness that affects soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen who have gone through war. I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, readers who love angels and demons, and readers who enjoy an emotional ride. You'll definitely feel the pain and love from both characters and you'll want to read the next book right away. (less)

After reading "The Third Son" I fell in love with the world she created. I had never read Historical Romance before until I read "The Third Son." I don't know what I was thinking about avoiding the Genre...because now I can't get enough of it. This book was about Serge and Isabelle. It picks up from where the last book left off. Serge was badly hurt in the last book and he was in coma. They never thought he would wake up...but he proved everyone wrong. The only person who really didn't give up him was Isabelle, his brother's wife (Lionus). Isabelle was his best friend and he always had feelings for her, but she was destined to be married to his older brother, Lionus. Isabelle never thought her world would thrown upside down though and she lost Lionus in the last book. In "The Second" Son, Isabelle is being forced to remarry so she can claim her throne in Barony. Who does everyone suggest she marry...but her best friend and her late husband's brother, Serge. Can she love him though like she did Lionus...the only way for you to find out is to read this book. =) What I loved most about this book, was how strong a character Isabelle was. She was dealing with a lot during the beginning of the book and couldn't get over her husband Lionus. She had been mourning him for over a year and now she had to make a hard decision of re-marrying. How could she love someone again? Towards the end, she made a decision to become a stronger woman than anyone expected. She took it upon herself, to make Barony realize she would be amazing Queen to them and she wanted to take care of herself and not rely on someone else. Elise Marion, brings two characters together after going through so much. She puts both the characters through tests that they must figure out how to get out. I don't know how many times, poor Serge had to put Isabelle in her place because of the dangers she put herself in. He just wanted to keep her safe and all Isabelle wanted to do was help. I cried several times in this book because I felt so sorry for Serge in this book. The poor guy lost his brother, lost a year of his life and he loved a woman who really didn't know how to love him back. I also felt sorry for Isabelle because she had lost her husband, was being forced to re-marry and had to learn how to be fully a Queen. She broke Serge's heart so many times in this book too. I just wanted to jump in the book and tell her to WAKE up already. This book is full of action packed love trials that will have you keep turning the page to read what comes next. You will cry, laugh, smile and get mad in certain parts of the book...but in the end, you will be amazed on the outcome like I was. I'm looking forward to the next book which will be about Esmeralda's cousin, Tatiana. ***You also get a glimpse on what happens to Tatiana in this book*** =) So if you haven't read "The Third Son", yet you need to...so you can read "The Second Son".(less)

First off, forgive me for just now finishing this book. I was supposed to read and review it last month, but my Library never got to ordering this book in time for me to read it for the Random Reads Post for February. Boo to my Library! I ended up having to buy it through Amazon for my Kindle and then it took me awhile to read it due to my two College Courses I'm taking. Plus, having two children one that is under the age of 1 and the other who is in first grade...let's just say I can't devote to reading until late at night when they both are tucked away. After so many sleepless nights and running on coffee during the day, I finally finished reading "Dragonswood" last night and I just realized this was Book 2 to the Wilde Island Chronicles. Oh well...I thoroughly enjoyed this book though and I plan on reading the first book when I can get the chance too. I love reading about dragons and fairies. I've been fascinated with Dragons and even the Medieval times since I was a kid. If only Dragons were actually real and I would be on the back of one, flying to Ireland or Scotland right now because I would be one of the crazy girls who wasn't afraid of the fire breathing dragon with sharp talons. I would be the crazy girl who took care of the dragons and made sure no one killed them. I adore this World that Janet Lee Carey created in this book. I felt like I was in the book sometimes, the way she described everything and how I fell in love with each and every character. Dragonswood takes you in the life of Tess, who unfortunately has not lived a good life at all. She has been abused since day one from her Father, the Blacksmith. She is forced to run and hide after she is accused of being a Witch and unfortunately she puts her friends in the middle of it also. All because Tess and her friends were seen in Dragonswood...a place where humans don't ever go because of the Fey and Dragons. Tess has always been drawn to Dragonswood though. She finds out one day from her Mother that she is actually half-fey and her Father is a Fey. The Blacksmith has never been her biological father. Tess is thrown into this Fey World which she is not used to. Her real father wants her to fill the Fey Prophecy and bring the humans/fey/dragons all together. I won't go more into the description of the book because the synopsis above pretty much gives you a great detail of the book. I will tell you this, this book had me enthralled since the moment I read the first page to the last. If you enjoy a fantasy world full of princes, princesses, Kings, Queens, Knights, dragons, fairies, etc.....you will definitely enjoy this book. I look forward to reading more of these books from Janet and reading the first book...that I didn't know about since Goodreads didn't tell me. Grr! I won't hold it against Goodreads though...well at least for now. (less)

I love diving into books that involve shapeshifters. I definitely do not regret one bit about losing sleep at night so I can read this book. Thank goodness for coffee in the morning to keep me going. Sara has created a whole entire different world of shapeshifters that I’m not used to reading. Bring on clans of different species of shapeshifters and that is what the Amoveo is all about. I love it!! ”Unleashed” tells the story of Samantha and Malcolm. You get to experience from both of their points of views in the book, which I always love. Sometimes just being in one character’s point of view can get boring at times. I like to know what’s going on with the other characters too. Samantha is moving back to her hometown due to her artwork not selling in New York. Of course, she doesn’t realize that the world she knows, is about to be turned upside down on her…but in my opinion in a GOOD way. She gains a hunky, sexy, protective male, who any woman out there would not mind having as a mate. She’s been having dreams for awhile about a wolf, beach, and this sexy man who invades her dreams…but she doesn’t know who he is. She even has been painting a wolf into her works sometimes. What does it all mean to her? Those dreams will eventually lead her to her mate…which is Malcolm. He will let her know of everything about the Amoveo Clans and that they are meant to be together. Of course, you always have villains in books too…which you will be introduced to humans (the Caedo) who despise the Amoveo Clan because they think they are an abomination. After 30 something years, the Caedo are showing their faces again and wanting to get rid of the Amoveo Clans. All because Samantha is special. She’s a hybrid, half-human, half-Amoveo (which has never been known and some of the Amoveos area skeptical about it). You will even get a Caedo point of view in the book…which I couldn’t believe who the Caedo was at the end. Definitely wasn’t expecting the villain to be someone right under their noses. I also wasn’t expecting something else at the end with who was trying to kill Samantha. Oh boy…what a twist. You will also be introduced to other characters in the book…Kerry, Dante, Richard (he sounds dreamy…maybe because he’s the Prince), Nonie (Samantha’s grandma…which is definitely one of my fave characters), and Davis ( just to name a few ). If you do read this book…pay attention to the Amoveo’s traditions, etc, especially the mating part. That is definitely a new twist on mating unlike any other book I’ve read. I recommend this book to all shifter lovers and paranormal romance addicts. You will definitely enjoy this new shapeshifting world that Sara has created. I love the ideas of eagles, foxes, lions, wolves, etc I’m looking forward to reading the next installment to see who else gets mated. =) I already have a clue though from this book.(less)

I feel there is more to tell and I definitely didn't like what happened between the Seelie Queen, Arwan and Dana. Guess my favorite book in the series will always be Shadowspell. Hopefully later on there will be a spinoff to the series or a contract will be made for more books in the series. I loved the characters, Arwan, Dana and Ethan. (less)
