If you have read "The Secret Life of Avery O'Dea" you'll love this short sequel of Avery and Dominic. You'll find out what happened to two of my fave characters from 2012 and how even our fave book characters have a fallen out every once in awhile, especially when it comes to Valentine's Day.
Dominic Ramsey and Avery O'Dea are living their lives as a married couple now. Avery is finally living a normal life with a normal guy, until Valentine's Day comes around and she realizes that maybe her normal life was not what she expected. Dominic though is now living his dream come true with his photography and traveling around the country and world. Unfortunately, he is about to find out the truth about Valentine's Day and why it means so much to Avery and why he should not be taking that trip to Paris. It takes an unlikely source to help Dominic understand Avery and what really matters to her.
This short book about Dominic and Avery are a perfect read for Valentine's Day and any time you just need a great romance story. Elise Marion gives you a book that gives you relationship dramas that could happen to anyone, especially during the holiday of love. You know you've had those moments where you look at your spouse/partner in shock for what they got you for V-day or even forgot that it was V-day. It takes an outside source for Dom to realize what Avery actually wants for Valentine's Day. Oh...and the real gift at the end, is beyond sweet and I was ecstatic to find out what happened to Dom and Avery in this sequel. Although, Dom was such a jerk at first to Avery. Grrr!!! I was about to go into the pages of the book and knock some sense into him. You even get find out what happened to Avery's ex-husband, Ryan. Elise Marion delivers yet another story that will have you turning the pages to find out what happens next.(less)

The last installment to the Angels Among Us Trilogy was full of emotions, action, and very steamy scenes. It definitely ended the Angels Among Us books very well and also opened up a new installment that I know Elise Marion will make us love just like she did with the Angels.
Nathaniel was a Warrior Angel at one time, until he fell in love and made the mistake of pursing that love. He knew that he should not have fallen for the beautiful woman he met while dancing. He knew his actions would lead him losing his wings forever and becoming one of the Fallen. He could not stop his feelings for the beautiful woman though who captured his heart and now she needs his help more than ever...but he has been dealing with 7 years of not turning into the demon that he made himself become. Carmen Rodriguez has been trying to move on with her life with her son who is Nathaniel's. She did not know that one night of passion would give her such an amazing son who now has Guardians looking after him since demons want her son to help them in their battle. Her son is going to be one very powerful Naphil (half angel/half human). His Guardians who are Sarah and Jackson will do about anything to keep himself. He even has a Warrior Angel by the name of Reniel to keep him safe as well. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for what the demon who wants him for himself to open a portal and steal him in minced a battle. Now...Nathaniel has to help his past love to find their son and bring him back...and also help Carmen with her Oracle powers that she is still trying to learn.
I could go on in the description of the book, but I will give too much away. This is the final installment so I definitely do not want to give it away. Elise Marion definitely made the Angels Among Us go out with a bang. She also picked the perfect characters to finish the trilogy as well. She even brought in previous characters from "Tempted" since they played a vital role in this book. Can I just say...I love Reniel from the previous book and now this book even more. =) I felt a very close connection with the character, Carmen, since she is one strong female who can handle anything and she will do anything to get her son back. Nathaniel who had me fighting his demon from taking over was amazing as well. He fought the hardest of them all because he did not want to become what Lucifer wanted him to be. The ending was epic and I definitely look forward to the spin-off series even more after getting a small glimpse into it at the end of "Redemption". I was wondering since there was questions at the end that needed to be answered. Even the angels said there's more going on that needs to be finished. Angels Among Us, just introduced us to three angels who fell in love and how they were able to live their lives with their loved ones. There's a battle now that needs to be conquered...or should I say battles.
Elise Marion definitely did not disappoint in the last book and it definitely had me crying as well. I love her writing style since it is very descriptive, powerful, and emotional. If you have not read this trilogy yet, what are you waiting for. Warning though, you will miss the Angels after your done reading all 3 books.

I received a complimentary copy of "The Lady Knights of Barony" from Elise Marion. I have been a fan of Elise's for awhile now. She contacted me last year to read her first book in the Kings of Cardenas series, "The Third Son" and ever since I've adored her writing style and her addicting historical romance stories she creates. =) I'm doing three separate reviews of "The Lady Knights of Barony" due to the 3 different stories in the book.
The Hellion: I was excited to read about Ava Longley because when I was first introduced to her in "The Second Son", I adored her character. She is one lady who can seriously kick butt. I connected with her in The Second Son and connected with her more once I knew more about her. Ava is on a mission in "The Hellion" to find out who is taking women to sell, but in the mean time she is kidnapped. Why is she being kidnapped? Well, the person she is seeking about the women, wants her personally for himself. She finds this a great idea to find him and kill him, herself. Although, in the meantime, her kidnapper is someone she finds quite interesting. I won't go much into detail about the story because I do not want to give anything away. All I'm going to say is I'm so happy what the outcome was for Ava. Elise wrote the perfect story for Ava and who she ends up with. The storyline and what Ava had to go through was definitely keeping me clicking on my Kindle. Ava was a fave of mine when reading "The Second Son" and she still is. She is so stubborn, but strong as a female character. I love reading about female characters who can hold their own.
Beloved: The second story is on Mudiwa, who is another lady knight that can do some serious damage. Mudiwa's story touched my heart though and what she has gone through. Mudiwa was promised to someone, but ended up loving another. When she is caught, she believes that she has condemned her life and her loved ones to death. Instead she is sold off into slavery, but while sold off, she ends up on the shore of Barony, where she is taken in by the lady knights of Barony. Mudiwa's present story is taken up from the ending of "The Hellion" and how she has been enslaved again, but by the man who truly wants another Lady Knight who has captured his eye. My thoughts on "Beloved" because I really do not want to give away some major parts of the story is that it definitely was an emotional one. Mudiwa has so much on her shoulders and in her heart for awhile since what happened in her past that she refuses to open up to anyone else. She never thought someone she never knew, would help her out of a bind. She also never figured she would fall in love again. Certain parts of the story was hard to read because of certain violence, but I have to give it to Elise, Mudiwa is one woman who can kick back and kick back hard. I loved the ending of the story also. (Nope...not giving it away) It touched my heart on what a certain character did for Mudiwa to make her realize how much he loved her.
The Accidental Groom: The last story is about Hanako, who is now become another favorite female character I've read about. She has her own hidden story before she became a lady knight of Barony. In the past, she was forced to wed someone she didn't love and she never wanted to be someone's property...so she decided to flee the life that her parents were forcing on her. That is when she came upon Ava and the other lady knights. Now though, her past is coming back for revenge...and the only way to get away from it, is to make a accidental deal with someone she's only known by glimpses. My thoughts on "The Accidental Groom" were how much I adored the story of Hanako. I actually did not realize know she was so different from Ava and Mudiwa. She kept so much inside of her and she had a legitimate reason to run away from her arranged marriage. The person she ends up with, played along with everything and accepted Hanako for who she was and what she was. This story had me in tears over another matter. Hanako definitely did a 360 in the story on a certain young person who changed her heart. She took on more responsibilities then she really was used to. She also learned to accept some things in her life she really didn't want. She was an amazing character to learn more about.
After reading all three stories, I definitely feel connected to the Lady Knights of Barony even more. I loved reading about each individual story and how they all got their happily ever after. They all went through a rough time to get there, but they all managed to find the perfect man to help each one of them with their issues. The men that Elise wrote about in all 3 stories were all gentlemen. I think my favorite of all three though is Garrick. You'll have to find out why, by reading "The Lady Knights of Barony" and if you haven't read the first two books, then I definitely suggest you do. I highly recommend this book to historical romance readers out there and readers who have read the first two books to the Kings of Cardenas series. You'll fall in love with these Lady Knights just like I did. I really look forward to the next Kings of Cardenas book now since I got a glimpse on what happened to one certain character that I've wondered about for awhile now. Elise Marion definitely will have me anxiously waiting for the next book now. =) (less)

"Tempted" is the second book in the Angels Among Us Trilogy and it definitely was another tear jerker. This is the story of Sarah who is a messenger angel who knows the rights and wrongs of what a angel is supposed to do...and one of those wrongs is getting involved with a human. An angel could lose her wings over it and become one of the Fallen Angels. It was just recently Sarah witnessed another angel become a Fallen since she had to make sure it happened. Sarah is about to break her main rule though all because of a former soldier who has been dealing with his own insecurities and past issues from what happened during the time he was in the Army. Jackson Bennett is alone due to almost causing harm to his family. He suffers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after witnessing some of his fellow soldiers dying. He blames it on himself and he is still having a hard time getting over it. He is forced now to be by himself and spy on his son go to school in the morning when his wife drops him off. Sarah is assigned to Jackson due to Jackson being special and coming into powers. God, himself, wants Sarah to help Jackson come over to the good side. She cannot force him though, he has to have his own free will to come over. Jackson is going to learn the true reason on what happened that fateful night that change his life when he was in the Army and also find out the truth on what he is destined to do. In the mean time though Jackson will have to fight his feelings for the beautiful woman, Sarah, who walks into his life and also believe her when she says she's not from his world and she can never be apart of his world forever.
My thoughts on "Tempted" are of course another tear jerker. I should just prepare myself ahead of time when it comes to Elise Marion and her writing style. She knows how to make a reader's emotions go haywire. I am a huge fan when it comes to angels and it seems every time I read a paranormal romance book that involves angels, the water works start falling. Elise Marion definitely made me fall in love with the characters in "Tempted" as well, just like I did in "Fallen." I had already read a little bit on Sarah since she debuted in "Fallen". She definitely was one female character who kept to her job as a Angel...although...Jackson is one male character, which I still do not know how Sarah kept from jumping on the minute she saw him. Sarah helped Jackson's character and Jackson did the same thing for Sarah. They definitely were meant to be with each other from the beginning. Jackson with his demons inside of him, needed Sarah's love and caring to help him through and Sarah needed Jackson for his toughness and stubbornness. "Tempted" actually left me wondering what will happen in the next book since there were some unanswered questions at the end, especially when the truth came about with Jackson and what he was supposed to do. Also, with what eventually happened to Sarah. "Tempted" is a book that will make you realize how tough it is for soldiers who suffer with PTSD. Elise Marion definitely did her research on it and it definitely touched my heart. You only get to see what the media puts out and not from a perspective of the soldier. Even if it is fictional in "Tempted", you have to realize that PTSD is a very serious illness that affects soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen who have gone through war. I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, readers who love angels and demons, and readers who enjoy an emotional ride. You'll definitely feel the pain and love from both characters and you'll want to read the next book right away. (less)
