The last installment to the Angels Among Us Trilogy was full of emotions, action, and very steamy scenes. It definitely ended the Angels Among Us books very well and also opened up a new installment that I know Elise Marion will make us love just like she did with the Angels.
Nathaniel was a Warrior Angel at one time, until he fell in love and made the mistake of pursing that love. He knew that he should not have fallen for the beautiful woman he met while dancing. He knew his actions would lead him losing his wings forever and becoming one of the Fallen. He could not stop his feelings for the beautiful woman though who captured his heart and now she needs his help more than ever...but he has been dealing with 7 years of not turning into the demon that he made himself become. Carmen Rodriguez has been trying to move on with her life with her son who is Nathaniel's. She did not know that one night of passion would give her such an amazing son who now has Guardians looking after him since demons want her son to help them in their battle. Her son is going to be one very powerful Naphil (half angel/half human). His Guardians who are Sarah and Jackson will do about anything to keep himself. He even has a Warrior Angel by the name of Reniel to keep him safe as well. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for what the demon who wants him for himself to open a portal and steal him in minced a battle. Now...Nathaniel has to help his past love to find their son and bring him back...and also help Carmen with her Oracle powers that she is still trying to learn.
I could go on in the description of the book, but I will give too much away. This is the final installment so I definitely do not want to give it away. Elise Marion definitely made the Angels Among Us go out with a bang. She also picked the perfect characters to finish the trilogy as well. She even brought in previous characters from "Tempted" since they played a vital role in this book. Can I just say...I love Reniel from the previous book and now this book even more. =) I felt a very close connection with the character, Carmen, since she is one strong female who can handle anything and she will do anything to get her son back. Nathaniel who had me fighting his demon from taking over was amazing as well. He fought the hardest of them all because he did not want to become what Lucifer wanted him to be. The ending was epic and I definitely look forward to the spin-off series even more after getting a small glimpse into it at the end of "Redemption". I was wondering since there was questions at the end that needed to be answered. Even the angels said there's more going on that needs to be finished. Angels Among Us, just introduced us to three angels who fell in love and how they were able to live their lives with their loved ones. There's a battle now that needs to be conquered...or should I say battles.
Elise Marion definitely did not disappoint in the last book and it definitely had me crying as well. I love her writing style since it is very descriptive, powerful, and emotional. If you have not read this trilogy yet, what are you waiting for. Warning though, you will miss the Angels after your done reading all 3 books.
I was provided a complimentary copy of "Redemption" from the Author in exchange for an honest review. ...more
Gena Showalter has done it again, she has made me fall in love with her characters again and fallen in love witReview also posted on Book Lovin' Mamas
Gena Showalter has done it again, she has made me fall in love with her characters again and fallen in love with a book I had a hard time putting down.
"Beauty Awakened" is the second installment to the Angels of the Dark series and it definitely was worth every month, day, minute, and second to wait for it. I literally fell in love with Koldo from the first page and felt for him even though I know he is fictional, but to me, he came to life due to the way Gena writes her stories.
Koldo has literally never been loved. His mother hated him since the day he was conceived and his father tortured him the minute his mother gave him up to his father. His mother was the one who took his beautiful wings from him and his father put him situations where he had to do things he was ashamed of. Ever since his hatred toward both of his parents, he has chosen to take revenge on his mother and hoped he killed his father when he did. He has craved to be just like the other Sent Ones, but he believes he has been punished for what he has done in his past thanks to what his parents endured him to do. The minute he comes across Nicola, his life is about to change. He will learn that love does exist and he is capable of positive things. Nicola has been suffering with the darkness around her since the beginning. Her twin, Laila is dying at the hospital and Nicola is not far behind. When she is given another chance at life and saving her sister's life, she chooses to let the light in, instead of the dark. She knew something was making her feel sick, but never knew what it was, until she comes across the sexy stranger who she talks to in the elevator. Koldo chooses to help Nicola because he is intrigued with her. He will have to teach her about keeping positive and thinking about only things that will heal her, instead of harm her. Unfortunately, darkness has it out for Nicola and Laila and they will do everything in their power to have them.
I loved every bit of this book, the minute I read the first page. How Gena can make you go through so many emotions at once. The child Koldo to the adult Koldo made me feel so much for him and how I wanted to comfort him and tell him it would be okay. What he had went through and continued to go through, he stole my heart. He definitely was destined to meet Nicola and how he could help her as well as she could help him. Nicola was such a strong female character as well in the story. She chose to fight back and not sit and let darkness eat at her. She chose to help her sister through the darkness, but it had to be Laila that accepted it. Nicola even made me laugh on how she handled Koldo. She definitely made him realize what love is.
Between what Koldo is dealing with and Nicola, there is also the issue of what is happening with other Sent Ones. Thane has his background story in this book and what is going with him. We get more of a taste of Bjorn and Xerxes. We even get a taste of Axel who happens to be a womanizer....but he seriously had me laughing with his personality.
Here's one of my fave quotes from Axel: "Fair enough, since I wasn't really interested. But I gotta say, I am so proud right now." Axel flattened his hand over his hear. "You borrowed my patented move, proving I'm made of more than awesome. I'm awesalicious. Is that a word? It's probably a girl word, but who cares! Seriously. Do you see a tear in my eye? Because I'm pretty sure I feel one."
Awesalicious...seriously that is my NEW fave word. =)
Oh...and if you want a little LOTU action...well...you'll get just a taste. Another thing I enjoy is how Gena mingles stories together and prepares you for what is next. She even gives you clues on a certain character that we definitely want to know more about.
If you haven't read any books from Gena Showalter yet, what are you waiting for? If you have, then you definitely need to pick up this copy of "Beauty Awakened". Gena Showalter does not follow in trends, she makes her mark in her own way. She dominates the paranormal romance genre and this spin-off series, proves to me that she definitely knows how to take it to the next level. She will forever be a FAVE Author of mine and I am definitely looking forward to the next installment in this series, and even more now the LOTU series.
Seriously...Gena...you need to be named Queen of Paranormal Romance Genre already.
You have a fan for life and here's counting down to your next story. =)...more
First off, let me just say so sorry I am to not have had this book read/reviewed before it was published. FamilReview also posted on Book Lovin' Mamas
First off, let me just say so sorry I am to not have had this book read/reviewed before it was published. Family issues took precedence and of course I was neglecting school work. (Never a good thing...I had to play catch up because of family issues) I am so glad I read "Rogue Rider" when I could and slowly because Reseph has been a FAVE character of mine since the first book. Even though the first 3 books he was Pestilence.
Jillian Cardiff is trying to get over what she went through several months ago when the demons started showing up. She was one of the survivors...at least physically...but not emotionally. She decided to live alone on a mountain with her animals. When she is out doing her chores, she comes upon a man in the snow who is naked. She know she should call someone to help her with him, but the phones are done and the snow has made it difficult to travel. When the man comes to, he does not remember his name or where he came from. He does not even know how he came to be in the snow naked. He does have thoughts in his head that tell him his name is Reseph. When demons come to Jullian's town, Reseph believes he has something to do with him, but he's not sure why. Jullian is not sure what is happening, but all she knows is the demons showed up when Reseph showed up...can she really trust him? In the meantime, Reseph's family believe's Pestilence/Reseph to be dead due to what happened in "Lethal Rider". Reaver, the Horsemen's Watcher, knows where Reseph is and what happened to him since he helped get him there.
I do not want to give away any spoilers because I will give away too much. I can say this, Larissa Ione definitely has a fan for life because she can write a book that sucks me into the pages. I actually felt Reseph's pain when his memory came back. The poor horseman. =( I know, I know...he was a baddie for such a long time, but that was Pestilence, not Reseph. Truths came out in this book and they definitely were shocking. Oh boy...was I in shock...but one of them...I kinda figured out and I was one happy reader when it finally revealed. =) Julian is now a FAVE out of all the female characters from the Lords of Deliverance that I definitely connected with. She was not a wimpy heroine...she helped Reseph and she definitely was destined to meed Reseph from the beginning. He needed someone to knock him around in the head and he met his match with her. There is one question that I need answered after this book and that is what happened to Harvester? I can tell it will be answered in Reaver's book...but I am still confused with her character. She is nice one minute and then a downright cold heart b***h the next.
LOVE, Larissa Ione's writing style. She is one of my FAVE Authors who is difficult not to stay up late at night to finish a book and I definitely enjoyed Reseph's book. (see...a trend with me yet..on the bad boys who turn good) Her Horsemen of the Apocalypse...is definitely one of my top FAVE series. You can tell from Larissa's writing, that she does a lot of research into her books. And can I just say...I'm so excited to read her next Demonica book....(how I've missed that series).
Larissa Ione...I really think you love to have your readers go through their emotions when reading your books though. I definitely will have to re-read this series again because I know I will miss the Horsemen & of course Horsewoman (sorry Limos). Reseph's story was perfect for him. The ending definitely was EPIC and here is another thing...WTH is up with the WARG that Julian got? (sorry...not telling anyone about that...will give away something important) If you love Larissa Ione and have not read this series yet...what are you waiting for? This is a MUST-READ. If you love the paranormal romance genre, love angels and demons and stories about saving the world from a apocalypse...this definitely needs to go on your to-read list on Goodreads. Did I forget to mention the steamy scenes and the action that Larissa puts into her books. She definitely levels them all out and puts them in places...that you will either have to take a cold shower or curse the bad guys out. (at least that's what I did) You will definitely miss the Lords of Deliverance once you are done reading...but thank goodness, Larissa has new books coming out in the near future to quench our thirst. She also tends to make us fall in love with future characters. =)

"Tempted" is the second book in the Angels Among Us Trilogy and it definitely was another tear jerker. This is the story of Sarah who is a messenger angel who knows the rights and wrongs of what a angel is supposed to do...and one of those wrongs is getting involved with a human. An angel could lose her wings over it and become one of the Fallen Angels. It was just recently Sarah witnessed another angel become a Fallen since she had to make sure it happened. Sarah is about to break her main rule though all because of a former soldier who has been dealing with his own insecurities and past issues from what happened during the time he was in the Army. Jackson Bennett is alone due to almost causing harm to his family. He suffers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after witnessing some of his fellow soldiers dying. He blames it on himself and he is still having a hard time getting over it. He is forced now to be by himself and spy on his son go to school in the morning when his wife drops him off. Sarah is assigned to Jackson due to Jackson being special and coming into powers. God, himself, wants Sarah to help Jackson come over to the good side. She cannot force him though, he has to have his own free will to come over. Jackson is going to learn the true reason on what happened that fateful night that change his life when he was in the Army and also find out the truth on what he is destined to do. In the mean time though Jackson will have to fight his feelings for the beautiful woman, Sarah, who walks into his life and also believe her when she says she's not from his world and she can never be apart of his world forever.
My thoughts on "Tempted" are of course another tear jerker. I should just prepare myself ahead of time when it comes to Elise Marion and her writing style. She knows how to make a reader's emotions go haywire. I am a huge fan when it comes to angels and it seems every time I read a paranormal romance book that involves angels, the water works start falling. Elise Marion definitely made me fall in love with the characters in "Tempted" as well, just like I did in "Fallen." I had already read a little bit on Sarah since she debuted in "Fallen". She definitely was one female character who kept to her job as a Angel...although...Jackson is one male character, which I still do not know how Sarah kept from jumping on the minute she saw him. Sarah helped Jackson's character and Jackson did the same thing for Sarah. They definitely were meant to be with each other from the beginning. Jackson with his demons inside of him, needed Sarah's love and caring to help him through and Sarah needed Jackson for his toughness and stubbornness. "Tempted" actually left me wondering what will happen in the next book since there were some unanswered questions at the end, especially when the truth came about with Jackson and what he was supposed to do. Also, with what eventually happened to Sarah. "Tempted" is a book that will make you realize how tough it is for soldiers who suffer with PTSD. Elise Marion definitely did her research on it and it definitely touched my heart. You only get to see what the media puts out and not from a perspective of the soldier. Even if it is fictional in "Tempted", you have to realize that PTSD is a very serious illness that affects soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen who have gone through war. I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, readers who love angels and demons, and readers who enjoy an emotional ride. You'll definitely feel the pain and love from both characters and you'll want to read the next book right away. ...more

I absolutely love "The ComReview also posted on Book Lovin Mamas I have been waiting forever for this book. Well...not forever, but it felt like that. I absolutely love "The Company of Angels" books by Stephanie Chong. I fell in love with the characters in the first book in "Where Demons Fear to Tread" last year. I just knew I would love this one too. I remember, the female character, Luciana in the first book and I was excited to read more about her in this book. (I really did not like her in the first book...but she grew on me in this book) Luciana has fled to Venice, Italy to do her duty of giving the devil his yearly duty. Once in Venice, she tracks down her sacrifice, but ends up running into one of the Company of Angels. She ends up not making the sacrifice in time thanks to the Angel. In the mean time, she has to find away to make it up to her big boss...but the Angel of course is not making it easy for her. She even has her past lover...threatening her...so it is not going to be easy for Luciana to make her boss happy again. Brandon, the angel that interferes with Luciana's plan is trying to capture Luciana for the Company of Angels. She is his assignment...but of course, he finds Luciana to be misunderstood. He feels she could change and he is finding her very irresistible. Of course...in "The Demoness of Waking Dreams", other characters are brought back from the first book...that I really was excited to read about. Corbin (who was such a jerk in the first book), Julian (who I have a HUGE crush on..yes I know he is fictional...but he stole my heart), and several others that I do not what to name. I'll give away too much. New characters are introduced as well...who I hope come back in the third book. My thoughts on The Demoness of Waking Dreams...I loved every minute of it and had a hard time putting down my Kindle. I would read while doing other things. (laundry, etc.) I'm a multi-tasker...I can read as well as take care of things around me. At least I tried to. =) I loved the storyline for Luciana and Brandon. Luciana has her own story and so does Brandon. Both of their stories broke my heart. I could not believe what actually happened to Brandon at the end. I would be upset as well. Oh let me not forget that Julian ends up in the story...and of course I find out more about him and what happened between him and Luciana. =) Luciana and Brandon were perfect for each other. Luciana helped Brandon out with his problems and Brandon helped Luciana. =) I could go on and on, how much I loved this book...but of course I do not want to spoil this book for anyone. The ending, I was definitely not expecting. I'm a little interested on what is going to happen in the third book now. I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers, angel and demon addicts (like myself) and fans of Stephanie Chong. You definitely will be amazed on what happens in this book. If you read the first book, you will enjoy to read about the previous characters, like I did. =)
My dream is to do a character interview with Julian in the future. *sigh* He definitely is a FAVE of mine. Let me not to forget to mention that Stephanie Chong has a fan for life. Countdown to Book 3 is now on. =)...more

I got my hands on it from Netgalley, but didn't get to read it until the day it released. Boo...I need to start reading a book from there as soon as I get it so I can review it before the book is actually released. Oh well that's what happens when you overload yourself with too many books. This book was ALL about the first and only time Luce and Daniel spent Valentine's Day together. Sad, isn't it? Those two never get a friggin' break. Lauren Kate took us out of Luce's head and into several other characters, finally. Yeah!!!! We got a taste of Shelby and Miles. I adore those two. =) Finally, maybe those two will have a happily ever after and stop playing around and kiss already. Then came Roland's own love story. Although, it ended up being a sad ending for him...but not for his love of course, since he made a serious decision. Made me love him even more. It's never easy to give up your one true love to make them happy. What seriously threw me off, is when Lauren Kate, told Arriane's love story. Wow...wasn't expecting that, but it was really Sweet. Although, of course not another happy ending. Geez! Won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't read the book. I was actually a little upset on what happened to Arianne and her true love. Of course, the finale of the book was Daniel and Luce spending Valentine's Day together. Sweet, beautiful and happily ever....well not really. Sorry...we all know what happens to Luce eventually in every lifetime she's ever lived except her more recent one. At least she got to spend one lovely day with the love of her life. If you haven't read the series, you need to read it. Although, the first book is always going to be the best of the series. The 2nd and 3rd just didn't do it for me. I'm looking forward to reading "Rapture" though and you get a glimpse of the first chapter in this book. I always love sneak peeks. I loved how Lauren flowed each short story into once. Shelby and Miles when they ran into Roland, brought on his story and then Arianne came into Roland's story. It was a great transition. All and all...it was a short sweet read...but not exciting. It's a great Valentine's Day read, but don't think the short novellas are always happily ever afters. There's something to learn in each one. I'm just happy to have read that Daniel and Luce finally got something happy out of the deal. Now the countdown begins for "Rapture". Give me more Cam and I'll be a happy, giddy Book Mama. =) ...more

I'm a big fan of Elise Marion's writing style and I'm so glad I finally got a chance to read "Fallen". I've been meaning to read this book for awhile now, but other books took precedence since I had deadlines to meet. "Fallen" is a short, sweet read about Shayla and Amir. Amir is an Angel who miraculously heals people that are near death. Amir's next assignment from God is Shayla who has been in critical condition in the hospital for awhile. Doctors believe she will not make it. Shayla is a professional ballerina who will probably never dance again if she does pull through. It will be miracle if she does. When Amir finally meets her, he realizes she has had no family visit her. He slowly heals her so the doctors and nurses do not get to suspicious of what is happening to her. He tells them that he's just a friend of hers to be there for her if she does wake up. Amir of course gets attached to Shayla because he feels bad for her. He is able to reach into her mind and learn so much about her. He realizes her parents have not been in touch with her for 2 years since she walked out of getting her degree and instead pursued her dream in ballet. She suffered so many times of being turned down jobs in ballet, but now she has come to a point in her life that she is doing so well. When Shayla finally wakes up, she has no idea who Amir is. She's glad he's there for her though. She becomes really attached to him. Amir has also become so attached to her that his friend, Sarah (another angel) warns him to not be tempted by Shayla and his feelings for her, otherwise he will become a fallen angel. Amir does not want to become fallen...so instead his father (God) gives him a chance at a new life, but should Amir take it? He's been a healing angel for so long. I won't go into it further. It's a really sweet, short book that I recommend anyone who loves reading about Angels/Demons will enjoy. I loved how Amir was there for Shayla throughout the time she was in the hospital and afterwards. He actually stood up to Shayla's parents too, which someone definitely had to do. This book did have me crying a bit in certain parts. I felt sympathetic for Shayla and what she has gone through. The poor girl just wanted family support and didn't have it until there was an almost tragedy with her. My favorite part in the book was the last chapter since it was really touching. =) I definitely will be reading the next book "Tempted" soon. ...more

I think I screamed like a little girl when I got it. I love Cynthia Eden's books. =) Unfortunately, it took me longer to read it due to other things in life that took precedence. Boo! Let's just say this Book Mama was not very happy to put "Angel Betrayed" off for awhile to do college homework. Grr! Don't these professors know I need my Romance books to keep me sane? Geez! I've been counting down the days to read Sammael's story since he was introduced in Angel of Darkness. For some reason, I grew attached to him because he is such a bad ass. I wanted to know which female character would tame this fallen angel and I also wanted to know why he fell. Cynthia definitely picked the best female character to capture Sam's heart. I was definitely not disappointed. Sammael, fell centuries ago because he took matters into his own hands to kill men off that weren't supposed to die yet. He also enjoyed it a little too much. (once I read why he killed the men...I understood why he did it...and I couldn't blame him...I think I would've done the same thing) He now owns a club called Sunrise where he meets, Seline. Seline is a half-breed. (She's half succubus, half angel) She actually has a mission to take out Sammael from someone who wants to punish Sam. Unfortunately, that mission goes not as planned. Who can resist the sexy fallen angel, Sam? Although, she doesn't know what he is until later. She needs Sam's help on gaining her freedom from the person who wants Sam dead. Sam does not want to help her at first until he realizes what she is and how she could help him find Azrael. (another fallen angel...who also appeared in Angel of Darkness) Both of them are now being hunted by the same guy and fallen angels are being killed everywhere now. It's up to Sam and Seline to find the fallen angels that are on the hit list to save them. My thoughts on "Angel Betrayed" were of course not disappointed. I love Cynthia Eden's Fallen Angel world she has created. It's way different from any other fallen angel stories out there. I also learned there are other types of angel in this book (not just Angel's of Death) that weren't introduced in the previous book. Yes...definitely like the way Cynthia has taken this world. I loved Seline's character and how strong she was and how she could take care of herself. I loved her abilities and I loved how she handled Sam in the book. I adore Sam...and he is my FAVE of the Fallen Angel's...(probably until I read Azrael's story) Found something out about Azrael in this book that I wasn't expecting. =) Sam in my opinion could have been forgiven for what he did to those men before he fell, but of course that's now how it works in the angels world. There was a lot of action in this book and of course some steamy scenes between Sam and Seline. (Jealous...of Seline...just letting everyone know...damn her) Now I have to wait until the next book comes out. I can wait patiently. At least try too. =) Thanks Cynthia Eden for creating these Fallen Angel series. =) I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers out there, fans of Cynthia Eden, and of course those readers who love reading about sexy fallen angels. You will definitely not be disappointed in these books. =) ...more

I received a complimentary copy of "A Hunger so Wild" through Netgalley from the publisher for a honest review. May I just say...I think I about fainted when I saw this book post to Netgalley. I feel like I was waiting forever for July to get here and when I got a early copy of this book...I literally screamed. My hubby and oldest daughter were probably pondering if they should call a mental ward or not. I knew I would love this book too, once I started reading it. It's on Elijah! If you've the read the first book, you know who Elijah is...if you haven't read the first book, what are you waiting for? Elijah has left the Sentinels and now is running the pack of Lycans as Alpha. He's the best for the job. He never thought, he would end up hooking up with the Vampires though to find out what's going on with the vampires and why some are coming down with a disease that makes them go crazy, basically. (these crazy vamps...are wraiths) Elijah, also never expected to have the second most powerful vampire approach him for his help. Vashti is one serious, deadly vampire that no one wants to mess with. She is still out for revenge on her mate that was killed years ago. She knows it was a bunch of lycans, but she needs Elijah's help to find which ones did it. Who would thought though a lycan and vampire would end up hooking up? Elijah and Vashti have tried everything to not show their feelings of each other, but for some reason Vasti can not resist Elijah and his sexy lycan charms. (I should say "puppy" though) =) Elijah can't resist Vashti due to her domineering ways and of course the way she dresses. I won't go any further because I'll give too much away. This book had a lot of story to it. My thoughts on the second book to the Renegade Angels series...is Syliva Day did an amazing job building up the suspense even more in this book. It had a back story and a main story going on at the same time. I got to read about Lindsay and Adrian again and what they are dealing with. I also got to see Syre in action too...who is the first most powerful vampire. I loved the steaminess between Elijah and Vashti. I actually was kind of skeptical on them getting together at first though since I remember how Vashti was in the first book. She is one cold-hearted, mean vampire. I definitely never want to mess with her. Elijah...I think I'm in love with him. No...I know I'm in love with him because I fell in love with him in the previous book. He stole my heart even more in this book. Sylvia definitely had me hooked from beginning to end...especially, the ending. Dang you, Sylvia...you left me hanging. It was an amazing cliff-hanger though. I recommend this book to readers who love the paranormal romance genre and who love a different take on angels, lycans, and vampires. This definitely is WAY different than other books out there. This book will have you wanting more....but forewarning...you will be left wanting even more at the end. =) ...more
Where do I start with this new series that Gena Showalter has created? First off, we'reARC Provided by Author Review also posted on Book Lovin' Mamas
Where do I start with this new series that Gena Showalter has created? First off, we're inside of Zacharel's head in "Wicked Nights". If you're a huge fan of Gena Showalter's and have read her Lords of the Underworld Series, you know who Zacharel already is. In the Wicked Nights, we find out Zacharel has been tasked to run the most powerful angel army in the heavens. Of course there's a catch though...the angels he leads are on dangerous ground...they're a danger to themselves and everyone around them. If Zacharel doesn't straighten them out, he may end up losing his wings. He has to prove to his deity that he can be a leader and help train these ruthless Angels. If he doesn't...he's punished for what he does, but also what they do wrong. We're introduced to Annabelle Miller, a human who was accused of a killing her parents at the age of 18, which she didn't do. Now she's forced to live in the walls of Moffat County Institution where she is being treated. The doctor who is supposed to be treating her, instead is abusing her mentally and physically. She also can see things that normal humans can't see. She has demons tracking her wherever she goes and now they are upon Moffat County Insitution. Zacharel and his band of Angels are sent to the Moffat County Institution to find out why the demons are attracted to the place and kill them, as long as they aren't humans who are demon-possessed (which they can not kill). Zacharel comes upon Annabelle and for the moment he meets her, he knows he's in trouble. Zacharel is not meant to save Annabelle...but of course everything in his world is about to change because of Annabelle and her past. It's up to Zacharel to find out why Demons are tracking Annabelle...and also find out what happened to Annabelle and why she can see the demons...etc. I won't go any further...because this book has so much going on, I don't want to spoil anything. My thoughts on "Wicked Nights" of course is that it's a great start to a new series. In fact it's a great start to a spin-off series of Lords of the Underworld. =) I was so excited to find out that Gena was doing a spin off...especially when it includes Angels. (I'm a sucker for a sexy male Angel) I fell in love with the stubborn, tough, sexy Zacharel in the LOTU Series. To be able to find out what makes Zacharel tick...I was definitely onboard to read his book. Now, after reading it, I'm looking forward to the next books. It definitely keeps me sane waiting for the next LOTU book and you'll see why when you read "Wicked Nights". Oh yes...Gena throws in surprises. I was so giddy reading this book, my hubby was about to send me to the doctor to get checked out. I fell in love Annabelle because she's a strong-willed female character who can take care of herself. I don't know how many times she stood up to Zacharel. (because I lost count) I loved the storyline that Gena Showalter created in "Wicked Nights". She of course threw in extra stuff to prepare you for the next book or books. You'll get to read about the other Angels too in "Wicked Nights". I don't know if Koldo or Thane is my fave yet, after Zacharel. I'll have to wait and read their books. I'm going to admit again, how addicted I am to Gena's writing style. She's one of my FAVE Authors and with this spin-off series...she didn't disappoint at all. I will find myself re-reading this book because I still can't believe what happened and who ended up being the bad guy in this book. Plus...other reasons I will not discuss on why I want to re-read it. If you haven't read any of Gena Showalter's books, what are you waiting for? If your thinking about reading this book, but haven't read the LOTU Series, I recommend you read that series first. You will thank me later. =) I recommend this book to ALL Paranormal Romance Readers out there, and of course die hard Gena Showalter Fans. If you've read Kresley Cole's IAD Series, you'll love the LOTU and "Wicked Nights" by Gena Showalter. Now what are you waiting for buy yourself a copy of "Wicked Nights" and get to reading... This Book Lovin' Mama is counting down to Gena Showalter's next book...patiently.........(trying to at least) =) ...more
I saw "Angel of Darkness" on my Recommended Reads from Amazon.com, one day, and thought I would try it out. ItReview also posted on Book Lovin' Mamas
I saw "Angel of Darkness" on my Recommended Reads from Amazon.com, one day, and thought I would try it out. It took me awhile to receive the book since I borrowed it from my Library, but once I did get it, I had a hard time putting it down. Cynthia Eden, you are a New Author to me...and I love "The Fallen" Series so far. I'm used to sappy Angel stories, where the Angel is a girly boy (Yes...I said that). I needed a Manly Angel who was Dark and Sexy...and you gave me just that and more. Cynthia Eden throws you into a different world of Fallen Angels. This book is about Keenan and he's the Angel of Death. It's his job to take souls to Heaven after their Death (sometimes horrific). Unfortunately, Keenan doesn't do that to Nicole's soul. Instead, he interferes with her death, but instead of a happily ever after for Nicole, she turns into a Paranormal being herself. She never expected Vampires to exist, let alone Angels. What's the craziness thing about Keenan and taking the souls...is one touch...and your dead...but you have to be close to death (mostly). When Keenan interferes of course he's stripped (burned) of his wings. He crashes to Earth and his main focus to find Nicole again. That doesn't turn out well for him when he sees Nicole again. That poor girl is put through hell. She's hunted down several times, thrown into the chaos of the Paranormal World. What is Keenan to do to prevent her death again? I loved everything about this book, the drama, the action, the romance and of course the characters. I can't wait to see where Cynthia Eden takes us next in the Series. Although, she does do a sneak peek of who is up next in her Series. I did think some characters were annoying and I wanted to BITCH Slap a couple of them...but who doesn't have a Villian or Villians that do that to you. I wasn't really expecting the ending and who was the ACTUAL Big Villain. What that Villain had to go through at the end to defeat him...(He got what was coming to him). This is recommended read to anyone who loves reading about "Fallen Angels" and loves twists to the Heaven/Hell stories....more
This book had it moments where I lost my interest at times and I had to put it down. I would come back to it the next day...but all and all...I really enjoyed this book. I definitely love the story to it. This reminded me of the series Fallen at first by Lauren Kate until it started taking a different love twist that I wasn't expecting. Adrian Mitchell is a Sentinel Angel. He's actually the most powerful on Earth. His job is to regulate the Fallen-Angels. He's not supposed to kill them, but punish them for what they did. He also keeps an eye on the lycans in the book. He has them stand guard for the Sentinels. Adrian has it rough because he has lost his true love who he was never supposed to be with in the first place because she was a mortal named Shadoe. Shadoe was Syre's daughter (Syre is a the Main Vampire to the Fallen who used to be a Angel). Adrian is forced to do something no love one should do and that is kill his beloved...but doing so, Shadoe's soul is forever reincarnated into a different body, putting Adrian through hell again and again. Lindsay Gibson is now Shadoe...Adrian must find away to keep Lindsay safe from her real father and keep her from the truth. All he wants is Shadoe to be free from the torment she's had to go through in the last couple of centuries. The only way of doing that is Adrian must kill Syre. Syre though doesn't realize his daughter, has been reincarnated until later on in the book. He wants his daughter back and the only way of doing that is changing Lindsay into his kind. Sylvia Day takes you into a different world of Angels, the fallen and lycans. She puts twists in the story and then leaves you hanging at the end of the book making you want more. What is happening to the Sentinels, Vampires and Lycans? Why are they all working to find out the truth to what is happening in the ranks? Why are the Lycans turning their backs on the Sentinels and why are the Vampires becoming diseased? Those are questions that leave you pondering what is to come next. I gave this book 4 stars...I enjoyed reading about the love story of Adrian and Lindsay (Shadoe). I gave props to Lindsay for being so strong against Adrian. I also gave props to Adrian at a certain point when it comes to Lindsay and Shadoe. The sex scenes were not as great as I'm used to, but they did get heated a certain times. Especially, when Adrian ties up Lindsay. You will have to read the book to find out. I loved the ending and I want to know what happens next. One character who I didn't mention that I enjoyed alot was Elijah. I want to know what happened to him. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone who has it on their To-read list any further. If you enjoy reading about Angels, Lycans and Vampires...you will enjoy this book. You'll also enjoy it if your looking for a different take on the Angels and Lycans. You will find it interesting on how Lycans came about....more
I have been underneath a rock since 2009 I guess because I wish I had read this book/series sooner. Now I’m making timeReview posted Book Lovin' Mamas
I have been underneath a rock since 2009 I guess because I wish I had read this book/series sooner. Now I’m making time to because darn it…I have been in a reading rut and needed something to get me out of it. Thank goodness for Angel’s Blood because I’m out of that rut and I’m now obsessed over Nalini’s Guild Hunter series. In fact, I read this book so fast that I’m already having withdrawals. Thank goodness for having the next couple of books in the series on hand, otherwise I would be driving my family crazy. (especially the husband)The minute I started reading Angel’s Blood I knew I was not going to get anything done. The very first page had me hooked into this world that Nalini Singh created. There is nothing new about me loving kick butt female characters because I prefer heroines that can handle their own, other the damsel in distress. Elena is that character in this book and Nalini got me liking her the minute she stood up to Raphael (the archangel). Oh…how I LOVED Raphael in this book. He was one lethal, sexy archangel that I loved following in the story. Elena is a Guild Hunter who hunts vampires that the archangels want back who try to run from their duties. Elena has been tasked though to hunt down a archangel that has gone rogue. She’s going to be tested and put through a lot during this mission because she has the sexy, dark archangel making sure she doesn’t screw up. In the mean time, she’s trying to resists his charms, and Raphael is trying to resist losing his angel powers to a human that intrigues him.Nalini creates a different world where nothing is what it seems. There are archangels in the world that try to keep everything in order, but it’s kind of hard when one of them goes rogue. In comes the importance of the Guild Hunters who help in the matter of the rogue vampires and now rogue archangels. Elena is the strong female lead in the story that will steal the show with her personality, and Raphael is the dangerous archangel that you will either love or hate. In my case…I LOVED him! I loved how Nalini made the story in different points of views, so the reader can follow Elena and Raphael in the story. It made the story very well with the back and forth between the characters.I also enjoyed the ending. I kind of expected the ending, but was still blown away with how Nalini ended it. Okay…I admit it was an explosive ending. Now I need to just find time to read the next books in the series back to back with no interruption. Must convince the husband to let me have 3 to 4 days by myself to read them. Ha…we’ll see how it goes. He did allow me to have my birthday weekend last year to read a series. It was my birthday wish and he knew I rather read books then have an actual birthday present (but he still got me an amazing birthday present) =)I give this book 5 full moons (ten if I could) and highly recommend it to UF/PNR readers out there....more
I read Fallen by Lauren Kate back in 2010, when I was reading like a mad woman before I started reviewing books. Thanks to my local library I was able to listen to Fallen on my drive to my oldest daughter's school in the morning and afternoon.
I loved Luce's character because she doesn't do anything to stop her for what she wants, even if something is haunting her. She is determined more than ever to figure out why Daniel is the way he is, and she also is dealing with several other things in Fallen that I definitely don't want to give away. I enjoyed the triangle in the book that Lauren Kate throws in and I also enjoyed what comes forward in the book. One of my favorite paranormal elements is in the book and forewarning there is a slight cliffhanger. It leaves the reader knowing there will be more. So many more questions must be answered and I know back in 2010 I had to wait until the second book was out the following year. Now I can read them back to back, as long as my library carries the audiobooks for me.
I give this book 5 full moons and highly recommend it to Young Adult readers out there. Fallen is being made into a movie, or actually it has. I'm just waiting for it to be announced, when it will officially come out. =)...more
