This is a great cozy mystery. Feel free to read out of order if that's how you happen into this series, you won't miss anything. A personal preference is to read in order, but it is not neccesary to enjoy the books in this series.
Any book in this series will be a fun quick read without gore, extreme violence, sex & minimal bad language. While this may not be a 'stay up all night to read' book or a 'can't sleep after I read it' book, it is entertaining and full of recipes used in her catering bookings.
I was not interested in all recipes due to my personal preferences, however, a recipe is always a bonus in a light mystery. Some seemed like they might be really good.
If you like entertainment without all the gore, violence, etc... this is a treat. Don't miss out on reading this enjoyable quick read.

I do wish there were more details about the soap making processes. Sounds like a fun hobby! Good mystery and can't wait for more. I even ordered his other two series based on how much I enjoyed this series.

This is a very quick read series of books. There is not any extreme violence, language, sex or gore in this series. So in my opinion this would be a 'cozy mystery'. Definitely a 'fairy tale' quality to the books.
There is a paranormal theme to this series however, and that makes me hesitant to recommend to easily influenced young people or anyone with strong Christian values as it is clearly not a biblical view of the hereafter.
This is an entertaining series that is fun and quick to read. Will not keep you up at night to finish it or keep you from sleeping after you read it.
Each book in the series after the first one includes a key recipe mentioned repeatedly in the book.
Reading this series in order is not necessary, however, would be my personal recommendation. (less)

Joanne Fluke includes recipes in this series! Ms Flukes books contain no gore, or sex, & very limited bad language. This all makes for an enjoyable, easy and fun read!
If you enjoy a light fun mystery & recipes, well you found a gem! Read them all and in order for the most fun. You can absolutely read this series out of order and not miss anything, it's just a personal preference to read them in order.
If you are looking for something to keep you up at night until you finish, or something you can't sleep after reading, well - keep looking. This series is not for you.
