I was anticipating this book in the series and have to admit I have read it several times over and over prior to writing a review. Heck, with this series, I didn't want to take the time to write a review...I wanted to get back to the brothers!
Lover Awakened picks up where Lover Eternal left off. The book focuses on Zsadist (Z) and Bella. In Lover Eternal Bella had been taken by the Lessers, Mr. O., who was in love with her because she reminded him of his dead wife. Lover Awakened picks up a few weeks after her abduction with the brotherhood (well technically just Z) on a rampage to find her.
Whilst Zsadist had always appeared to be a vicious yet unfathomable character in the previous books, we now see the vulnerable side to his character which makes him so much more appealing. The abuse he suffered as a slave has lead to a self hatred and an enjoyment of inflicting more pain and abuse upon himself.
Not to give away any spoilers, but eventually the "mountain" Bella must overcome with Z is touching and realistic. Their connection simply amazes me and brings me back to the book over and over again.
Furthermore, there are some real heart wringing scenes between the twin brothers and the emotion is kept bubbling through out the book because Phury loves Bella too and his love is so sad and hopeless.
Lover Awakened is a fast paced book with action and heart wrenching drama (so sad for the goodbye of one character) that rolls from one emotional high to another taking the reader along for the ride.
I would definitely recommend this book, heck the entire series, to anyone looking for some adventure and a lot of romance from some fierce warriors who never seize to amaze. If I had the option of 6 stars this book would have it....more

AsLover Mine is the eighth book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward. And let me say first and foremost, Ms. Ward does NOT disappoint! As always with Ward’s books, especially that of the BDB series, I find that I can not put the dang books down and as a result the house is a mess, the dishes are dirty, and the work gets put on the backburner so basically her books are like my crack, or often referred to in our house as “book crack.” This book definitely fed my addiction and only made it that much stronger. This book is the story of John Matthew and a symphath Xhex. In previous books the attraction between these two was strong, yet Xhex always held back due to her nature and her history with Vampires of the Brotherhood. **It is still rumored and basically confirmed in this book that JM is the reincarnation of Darius; however, Ward has yet to write the realization by JM to that fact into the series. There are a lot of events that occur with JM and X that I will not get into, as reading the book yourself is the whole point, but let me just say that the action scenes do NOT disappoint, nor do the sexy steamy sex scenes for which Ward is known. I also enjoyed the ending of another character, again no spoilers, because honestly he (okay it’s a he) was really starting to get on my nerves. Furthermore, the relationship between Blay and Quinn takes a crazy turn that will shock most readers and leave the majority of them with tissues. I look forward to additional insight into their relationship in future books and would have to say that my only complaint in this book was that instead of Quinn it was Saxton and there was no closure. Yet I know, a story for another book, just as well. ALSO, a huge surprise is in store for readers during the last 100 pages when four individuals realize they are related, no all to each other, but in pairs. One team of twins, and one mother-daughter team. Again, bring the tissues. Lover Mine is packed with action, danger, mystery and scorching hot love scenes. If you are new to the series I would recommend you read them in order, starting with Dark Lover, as there is too much history in the following books that you would miss and feel lost. I have to say, Ms. Ward did a phenomenal job at this book and I look forward to the next one, which I suspect will be about Paine. I am just bummed that I have to wait until next year for such a book. 5 stars out of 5, word up! ...more

And for those of you who don't.....you're missing one heck of a great read and fabulous book. Father Mine is the e-reader release addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This story, again, well rocks! I found, even though it is a novella, that I was satisfied with the story and the outcome even despite the shortness of the book. It was a quick read, only about 350 pages, but worth every one. The story follows Z and Bella after Nalla is born and Z is having a hard time building any kind of relationship with Nalla for fear of his past. He hasn't even touch the poor baby and often refers to it as The Young! It is heartfelt and touching watching him realize the error of his ways and watching Bella give him some tough love. I am happy to say that pretty much every character in the series made an appearance and it was a nice coming together. I would definitely recommend this book to read and give it 5 stars out of 5. Here's hoping that Ms. Ward continues to write more!...more
