This book is satisfying the way a national geographic documentary on termites is satisfying. It draws an enticing description of a foreign world within a familiar scene. Las Vegas is a common pop-culture set, and this lifts up the skirt and sheds some light on one of many seedy subcultures within the glitz. When it's all over, I'm sated for entertainment, but hardly nourished by a good story.(less)
