Marilyn Johnson became interested in librarians while researching her previous book on obituaries, and running into a few fascinating librarians death notices. A few quirky librarians may have initially caught her attention, but she is clearly enamored with the field, the staff, and the whole concept of sharing information for free.

The main thrust behind Griest’s time abroad was to discover her roots, and while it seems she got a better view of Mexico than she ever had before, what struck me was her own sense at the futility of the quest. Throughout the book she is constantly commenting how she just can’t seem to get the subtleties the culture has to offer.

All in all a great book about the life and times of Juana of Castilla. For centuries historians have labeled her "mad" but Belli tried to shed new light on her life, encouraging us to see Juana as a strong woman who lived a very dificult life, being used as a political pawn for most of her life.(less)

Pausch certainly deserves tons of praise for the courage with which he took on his illness, but this book offers little extra than what I'd already heard in the video, plus at times it reads like an advertisement for Disney.

Vera Grabe's story is similar to that of many other guerrilla fighters, they want to believe that their actions will truly change the world, but unlike others...
