Bought it, devoured it, loved it. I'm still thinking about it, which is quite a feat for such a short story. I admit, I tried to flip the last page on my iPad several times, saying out loud, "What? No. That CAN'T be the end." Definitely a one-sitting read.
Again, not for everyone. This is not a romance. The sex is non-consensual. There were some errors that made my inner copy editor twitch. But they weren't that numerous and didn't detract from my overall enjoyment.
If you're looking for something dark, haunting and thought-provoking, this IS for you if you can handle the subject matter. I'll definitely read more from this author....more

I'm pretty tough but even I had to put it down for a few days a couple of times. Once I was past about the 50% mark, though, I devoured the rest. I think I just got desensitized to the horror of it all, maybe?
It would've been five stars but I had a few issues with Tagen and Daria--imagine that! While Kane and Raven's relationship was the horrific, highly disturbing one, it was the one that kept me most riveted. I thought it was unfortunate that the very circumstances of Tagen's mission (alone on a strange planet, no transportation, severely outdated information and little understanding of the language) rendered him a rather ineffectual hero and forced him to rely almost completely on Daria to be successful. I just would've liked to see more from the officer deemed competent enough to send across space to apprehend a fugitive as deadly as Kane.
Other than that, very compelling read, and one that will stay with me for a long time....more

I loved Myrna from the moment I realized she recognizes the seething sexuality inherent in heavy metal music--something I think a lot of people don't get (and that's a shame, because it's an absolute goldmine). There might have been a couple of moments I wanted to smack her for her stubbornness, but that's only because I was madly in love with Brian and wanted to yell at her to hurry up and figure out that she was, too. :-) Ohh, Brian. He was smart, funny, sweet and indescribably hot.
And who hasn't had this fantasy? It's something I think we can all relate to, but what made this book so awesome was that we see it unfold in a way that's real and, perhaps most importantly, believable. I was in heaven reading it. I'd also be remiss in not mentioning how hot it is. It isn't just hot, it's nuclear.
But I have to say, as much as I love those sinfully sexy shredders, I go completely gaga for growling frontmen. So it should go without saying that I cannot WAIT for Sed's book! I'm looking forward to many, many more from Olivia.
