She's a silly girl who likes trendy clothes, a trendy car, lives in a trendy neighborhood, but doesn't have the income to support her spendthrift ways. When her girlfriend tells her about DMA, she jumps at the chance to find a quick fix to her money problems. Unfortunately, the featherbrained twit has no idea what she is getting herself into and would have been better off filing bankruptcy. Instead to have her debt wiped clean, she signs a contract to serve as a sex slave for one year - no questions asked. Tacked on to the year is the training she must endure before and the months of "follow-up" after her year of service is completed.
At the auction, Jared antes up and pays off Catrina's debt (and then some; so she will have a "little extra" in the bank when her term of service is finished). Jared takes his duties very seriously as Catrina's "benefactor" ensuring she is "regularly spanked as per program guidelines." The majority of Catrina's learning and training was performed on her knees servicing and being available to Jared and others.
THE PAYMENT SERIES is hard-core erotica. There are no fairytales here, lusty sex scenes or love. The purpose of Catrina's service is because she "couldn't control her spending." Some of what you will find are numerous spankings with various implements, gang bangs, anal sex, oral sex, ATM, humiliation, and a machine. At times, the scenes became repetitive and boring, and I didn't really think they served a purpose. Catrina's ass was "reddened" each and every day, often many times a day - it's a wonder she didn't have permanent physical damage.
Finally, Catrina's year of sexual servitude has cum to an end...she's free! Jared did his utmost best teaching Catrina about finances and how to be financially responsible. And now the DMA are kind enough to obtain new employment for her. **Unfuckinbelievable** That did it...they're all TSTL.

The story centers around Johnny, an undercover cop at Cafe Outre, and Frankie, a burlesque dancer. Frankie's BFF, Cookie, was jumped and beaten right outside of the club one night. When the police fail to investigate the crime, Frankie takes matters into her own hands. This gives Johnny the perfect opportunity to work along side of Frankie and investigate the Chinatown underground at the same time.
The Devil's Playground is a serialized romance. It does not end with a HEA. Not even close to a HFN. I would say it closely resembles a work of gum-shoe serial fiction.
I have no idea when this takes place and this is very frustrating. No one uses a cell phone, and Johnny drives a motorcycle. Still, that doesn't give me a frame of reference. Without knowing a time frame or era of some sort, it's very hard to place these characters.
When Frankie and Johnny meet, they call each other "Slim" and "Steve", respectively, in a verbal sparring. Oh, great! If you, Dear Reader, are not familiar with classic B&W films, you will have no earthly idea what this is about. Not only that, these names are used interchangeably with the "real" ones through the entire story. Talk about annoying.
At one point during their investigation, Frankie takes Johnny to a decaying part of town to talk to someone. Once they get there, Frankie starts talking with this person in stanzas from classical literature. However, this is suppose to be a romance book, not Classic Lit 101 where I'm interpreting Poe, Longfellow, Browning, or Nietzsche. Yes, I did google a few of the lines out of curiosity.
Because sexual intercourse takes place in the story, according to BBR guidelines, I have to rate this book 3 Flames, Sex with Details, R Rating. Although, personally, I would give it 1 Flame All Show, No Heat. I cannot say any more without giving HUGE spoilers.
Frankie and Johnny have skeletons in their closets. It is brought up time and again. It's the BIG reason Frankie isn't able to let herself get close to Johnny - her dark and terrible secrets. There were plenty of references to the "past", but nothing concrete. The tale ends the same way it began.
The Devil's Playground contains brief scenes of interracial f/f.

I really wanted to rate this novella 5 stars, but there were a few things that I just couldn’t let slip by. So let’s get those out of the way.
This novella is not Contemporary Erotic Romance. It is Erotica. There isn’t a HEA or HFN for the H/h in this story. Yes, there is a hint of one to come, but it doesn’t end with one and that is where the confusion lies. I’m not a professional by any means, but here are two references you can check out for yourselves: Query Tracker and RWA
I’m a cheapskate. For an enovella of 68 pages, the price of $2.99 is too deep for my pocketbook. Hell, I just bought five full length ebooks for 99¢!
Finally, if the slime-ball fuck-buddy can cum prepared for a spur-of-the-moment “dare” with the condition that said “dare” must use a condom. Then he sure as hell should have stashed a trial size packet of lube in his pocket. Using “juices” for any anal penetration is a big no-no; no matter how copious!
Whew! Now that I’ve gotten that over with…
I really did love this story. Honest! Cross my heart and all that jazz!
Katy is a wealthy, intelligent, and likeable woman who is involved with her work, charities and foundations: A classic “lab rat”. Unfortunately, when it comes to matters of the heart and bedroom, Katy is a bit naïve. And that is where the trouble starts. I couldn’t help but like Katy and her spunk. Despite her “boyfriend” set-back, she’s determined not to make the same mistake again.
I knew there was something slimy about Evan from the beginning. Could feel it through my Nook – my fingers would slip when turning the page. Still, his character is written so well, you love to hate him! Plus, he does lead Katy in her “sex-education” exploration.
The Dare, Green Eyes, Simon – **sigh** That is all.
If what happened in this room last night got out, her credibility amongst her peers would be gone. Because everyone knew you could not have a genius IQ and fuck a stranger, and like it all while…
Oh, who am I kidding! I’ll dish out whatever is necessary for The Chronicles of Katrina (Book Two). Especially since Ms. Tabke left us LIKE THAT!!!...more

Ms. Keraleigh has built a fantastical fairy world where the alpha men fly around in nothing but a loincloth. FAIRY UNBROKEN is the third installment of the series which is an energetic and engaging story. I was hooked within the first few pages as Keyn fell from the sky.
Because of what happened to him as a young boy, Keyn can’t bear to be in the presence of humans - almost to the point of becoming physically ill. This becomes a real problem when he realizes Trillian, a human female, is his mate, because she is the only one who soothes his wounded soul. No matter, Trillian has her brother to worry about and has no intentions of keeping house with “wingman”.
Keyn and Trillian have that “love/hate” relationship building. The banter they have going on is priceless. Here is a snippet:
“Food,” he said flatly and placed a tray on the table. “Thanks.” She walked toward it and noted how he stiffened and took a step back. Might as well get this out of the way. “I won’t be your mate.” She grabbed what looked like a yellow carrot and chomped on it. Keyn lifted a brow. “Good.” That’s it? This guy wouldn’t be getting laid and that’s all he had to say? “Fine.” “Great,” he muttered and turned to walk out. “So, you’ll take me home then?” He halted at the door. “No.” With that, he left. “You’re an asshole!” she yelled before he could walk too far.
The trolls are causing trouble as usual in the Fairy Kingdom. Ms. Keraleigh shines a bit more light on Whisper and gives a tease with a very brief appearance by Valen. All is not lost – he may get his story yet!
FAIRY UNBROKEN is a story I devoured in one sitting. It is a fun and entertaining story with lively characters I enjoy getting to know and revisit. ...more

Book 2 of the series has us back at the Chicago Police Department, but this time we’re hooking up with “Freak Squad” Detective Marisol Whitman, a succubus. When her sister Elaine (also a succubus goes missing), Marisol gets stuck paired with Valerio Costa from the OWEA – Otherworlder Enforcement Agency (a FED and a salamander) to help with the investigation. And wouldn’t you know it; the Fed has “issues” with succubi from his past experiences.
SUCCUBUS LOST can be read as a standalone; as there is slim to no references made to the previous novel. You won’t find any hot, succubus sex here. Nope, the sex scene only wets your appetite and leaves you wanting. I found the story to be an appealing tale that reads like a classic B&W detective film – only this one is loaded with a cast of preternatural characters to give it an urban fantasy flare. ...more

I admit - it took me awhile to catch on to the Fallen World. There is a Glossary and Family Tree at the end of the book; which should be read BEFORE starting to read this book. Even so, I still struggled with their vernacular and hierarchy until I was about half-way through with reading the book. The Kindred are a very interesting world of three distinctive sects/houses of the Fallen. All of whom have an interest in Serenity and some of their intentions are not very honorable.
Serenity is Kindred - even though she was raised by humans. Serenity’s relationship with her fiancé, Evan, is a comfortable one (read here: BORING). He has been her only family for umpteen years. When Serenity meets Cyrus and their energy streams (anima) intertwine, she is confused by her instant attraction to the stranger. I know the Kindred’s life force and kabashem (soul mate) are the central themes, but for some reason it didn’t sit well with me. Maybe it was too much energy sharing and not enough hot monkey sex.
I did like Ms. Rushdan’s use of the Egyptian mythos. I was very surprised by one development in the story - didn’t see that coming! (Nope, no spoilers from me.) I hope Abbadon will get his own story; as I’m a sucker for second chance at love tropes.
Ms. Rushdan has taken her vision of mythology and angels to a diverse level of paranormal. The premise is a very solid one, but I feel the book could have been shorter without losing any significance. I found the writing to be easy to read, but there were times when it was choppy and static, turning into more of a “telling” mode. The sex scenes aren’t as hot or frequent as you would expect for today’s PNR – the language bordering on quaint. Everything taken into consideration, I see The Kindred Chronicles series greatly improving as future books are penned....more

After reading SAFEWORD: Davenport, I was hesitant to read the next installment of the continuing tiresome, drama of Dana and Zach. WOW - WOW - WOW! What a difference. The quartet is back and better than ever!
I am happy to say the ghosts of their spouses have finally departed: May they rest in peace. Dana and Zach are working through their issues, identifying them, and realizing all won't be solved overnight, or even in three months time. They agree to a contract where every tiny detail is mapped out. Basically, ownership papers they both will sign.
"Just so we're clear, when the clock chimes in a few minutes you'll belong to me for the next twenty-four hours, until nine o'clock tomorrow night. You don't do anything but breathe without permission -- no water, no bathroom, no food. Also, no computer, television, or cellphone unless you're given explicit permission. If you want something, you ask. If you need something, you ask. If there's an emergency then of course you should use your best judgment, but be sure I'll also consider it an emergency." Her libido had gone into high gear during the last part of their negotiations, and she was already so turned on she sat on her hands to keep from playing with herself.
Brent and Jacob are back in action once again in SAFEWORDS: Davenport and Chiffon. Their characters become more involved and are instrumental in helping Dana and Zach overcome a "misunderstanding." I'll never look at "Truth or Dare" the same way again!
What captured me from the start was the emotional conflict of the characters and it carried all the way through the story. Zach has to learn how to provide everything Dana needs, even though he may find it repulsive.
One thing that I have a problem with is that Ms. Blevins takes liberties with the "optional" use of the safeword:
"Our agreement says your safeword is for informational purposes only from now on. I can ignore them if I wish."
Again, this type of genre isn't for everyone. SAFEWORDS: Davenport and Chiffon has all the elements of a true hardcore BDSM romance novel - HEA included!...more

The warning label above is there for good reason. SAFEWORD: Davenport is a novel about Dana learning to move on with her life, after suffering the loss of her husband, by rediscovering herself through BDSM.
Dana meets Zach when he hires her to redesign/redecorate his home. His wife, Bethany, passed away about the same time Dana’s husband, Garnet, did, and wants the house to reflect more of his style. Although, dead and gone, both Bethany and Garnet play considerable roles in the story. Dana and Zach keep their relationship strictly “business” until the house is completely redesigned.
Seven months later, however, the initial attraction has only grown and Zach asks Dana out on a “date”. At the end of said date however, Zach kisses Dana and asks her home,
“to drip hot wax on you until you’re encased in it, and then flog it from your body and either make love to you or fuck you – depending on where the energy takes us.”
Dana responds with an,
“Okay….for the wax and flogging anyway – not certain about the fucking part. I’ve never had sex on a first date, but this feels like more.”
As Dana and Zach begin to explore each other’s needs, Dana soon realizes she needs more and calls on Sir Brent, a good friend to help her. Dana is a masochist, but doesn’t want to give her submission to a Dom in order to find satisfaction.
SAFEWORD: Davenport is told from Dana’s POV. For all of the sex play, scenes, etc., happening in this story (and trust me there were P-L-E-N-T-Y), it wasn’t very exciting. It read more like a “how-to” manual. Zach didn’t seem to be very emotionally involved with Dana. Also, a Dom never, ever, ever says, “you can’t safeword out of—Do you agree?” When a sub isn’t capable of doing exactly that!
I would recommend this book to those that enjoy reading this genre. If you aren’t familiar with this type of lifestyle or aren’t comfortable with total submissiveness, total power exchange (TPE), or sadomasochism, I highly suggest you pass this one by. ...more

First and foremost, SOCIAL SERVICE is not a romance novel – not by a long shot. If you’re the type of reader that needs an alpha male, HEA, or passionate tussle between the H/h to finally find their bliss, move along because you won’t find it here. This is a novel of Master/slave relationships (M/s).
SOCIAL SERVICE is written from Heather’s POV. She is a very talented lawyer who feels “betrayed” by those she trusted (in the vanilla world) when she first arrives at Rock Creek, a BDSM Community. The BDSM Community is divided into different sections for different kinks. They are explained in enough details to ensure Heather (and the reader) are well acquainted with what is expected. Since Heather is still “new” in the Community, her Master has given authority to other high-level dominants to play (use) with her; as long as the command is followed by the appropriate “code” word.
When I was about halfway through with this novel, I was ready to use my safeword. I had enough. No, it wasn’t what I was reading. It was because of what was lacking for me in the story - what I wasn’t getting. The story was a flatline: No emotions, no hills, no valleys. Oh, there was plenty of kinkiness, spankings, anal, forced nudity, etc., but I wasn’t feeling any connection between the main characters. They were stick figures going through the motions. Thankfully, all of that changes when Saturnalia happens and the M/s dynamics are reversed. The slaves lost control, their base emotions took over, and they were punished for their actions. Yes, the punishment is harsh (being sent to Section Seven - enforced slavery), but it is the emotional heartbreak when Heather is stripped of her collar that takes center stage.
Ms. Quinn has a Disclaimer at the beginning of her book, and for good reason. The sexual play and scenes that she writes about in SOCIAL SERVICE are for an adult audience only. Be warned: The Master/slave relationship and dynamics include a wide range of scenes and include spanking, paddling, butt plugs, nipple clamps, forced nudity, branding, caning, public nudity, and quite a few others. Even though a slave at her own choosing, Heather was able to use her safeword at any time. And yes, SOCIAL SERVICE does have a HFN! ...more

I didn’t think it would be possible, but, yes, Lucas Donlon, Vampire Lord of the Plains Territory has unseated Raphael, Vampire Lord of the Western Territory, as the most bad-ass alpha in the Vampires of America Series. His love for Kathryn, the compassion he has for his people along with the need for vengeance against his enemies make for one powerful complete package. And I just love Kathryn! She is so independent and loves her baby brother fiercely – would do anything for him! There were times while reading LUCAS that I laughed out loud or found myself teary-eyed because of something she said or did.
Yes, there is a vamp war going on. It’s not glossed over either. Ms. Reynolds writes great battle scenes where the vamps are actually dusted! Her depiction of Lucas’s power is illustrated beautifully:
He was power incarnate, but he rarely bared his true face to the world. Tonight was one of those times, and he reveled in the beauty of it, as his power streamed out, surrounding him waiting to be tapped, waiting for the taste of an enemy’s blood. The darkness around Lucas lit with golden fire as his eyes reflected the rise of his power.
Yes, Kathryn’s brother has disappeared and she has to find him. Unfortunately, she didn’t count on a hunk-o-burnin’- love vampire to have to deal with. These two are in a love/hate relationship and it is S-W-E-E-T watching it develop. This is just a small snippet of a wonderful scene:
“What happened, Kathryn?” he asked quietly.
She gave him a quick glance. “I don’t know what you mean,” she lied.
“Let me refresh your memory, then. You fucked my brains out night before last—“
“I told you I had things to do. I drove all day yesterday to get here –“
“—and apparently you couldn’t wait to get out of town. I talked to the motel manager. You must have gone directly there from my bed, then packed up and left with the sun barely above the horizon.”
“And what do you mean I fucked your brains out?” she snapped, seizing on the one thing she could dispute, since everything else he’d said was pretty damn accurate. “I wasn’t the only one in that bed, Lucas. Brains were fucked and fun was had by all.”
Ah, yes, LUCAS is one hot, steamy read. You will not be disappointed.
Of all the Vampires in America Series (VIA) books, I like LUCAS the best. It doesn’t lean heavily on characters from the other books, but it does mention a few of them. Kathryn and Lucas are written completely different than any of the other H/h of Ms. Reynolds VIA novels. I can’t quite put my finger on it: more touchable, fallible, human? Whatever it is, I like it!
I look forward to the next VIA. The brief glimpse of Aden was a tantalizing tease! ...more

IMMORTAL SURRENDER opens with a prologue that gives you a glimpse of the evil incarnate that is Azazel; along with the suffering the Knights Templar experience in search of their Seraph. The prologue is a tease from Ms. Ashgrove of a scrumptious tale yet to come.
Ms. Ashgrove uses the tropes of miscommunication, misunderstandings, and the attraction of complete opposites and carries these throughout the story with good use. Farran, our hero, just wants to do his duty: Battle Azazel and his minions, find Seraphs for the other knights, and when his time comes, let his soul go where it may. Noelle, our atheist scientist, has no use for religion or theology and puts her trust in proven science. The two are paired when the ever conniving Gabriel assigns Farran as a bodyguard for Noelle and the Sudarium. There is one thing that I didn’t agree with. Noelle does something, which as a scientist in her field would never do. But I guess desperate times call for desperate measures and after all this is fiction – so I give it a pass.
It doesn’t take long for our H/h to grate/grow on each other as the action starts. Throw in a heap ‘o baggage that both of them have been carrying around for far too long and well, here is a great example:
Farran set his chin and looked beyond Mikhail, to the wall once more. “I care not. I will do what is asked of me otherwise. I will lend my strengthened sword. I will work at her side. But I shall not swear loyalty to her. My vows are to my brethren.” The soothing tone of Mikhail’s voice cracked as he exclaimed, “ ’Tis unacceptable!” “Mayhap.” Farran punctuated his response with a curt nod. “Which do you desire more, Mikhail? The reinforcement of our Order or a petty vow that, should you force my hand, I shall not uphold?” Long seconds passed as the two men stared each other down. Noelle pursed her lips so tight they began to tingle. How dare him. Wasn’t it bad enough he made his dislike of her known in private? Did he really have to go and shame her in front of someone else? She might not be anywhere near as beautiful as Anne, or likely the other women he associated with, but she wasn’t chopped liver either. She had good qualities. A brain for starters. And once upon a time, a guy had said her ass wasn’t half bad. Damn him. He could add insensitive jerk to his ever-growing list of faults. Asshole too, if she cared to be blunt. She willed her emotions under control and forbade the rush of tears to stop before they trickled down her cheeks. She didn’t care what he thought of her. It didn’t matter. He was nuts, and she was going home. One way or the other.
The battle of wills and sexual tension between these two leap off of the pages. It’s delish!
As if there weren’t enough problems with the uber-evil trying to gain control, Ms. Ashgrove sweetens the pot with malcontents among the Knights. And they are brewing up trouble - B.I.G. time.
IMMORTAL SURRENDER is the second in The Curse of the Templars series, I feel it can be read as a stand- alone. Ms. Ashgrove provides enough details in this harsh and captivating world without being overwhelming. Several characters that were introduced in IMMORTAL HOPE make a reappearance, and the continuing arc of finding Anne’s missing sister has a brief mention. This is one series that I have really enjoyed reading.
Ms. Ashgrove has another champion with IMMORTAL SURRENDER and her brand of romance, honor and bravery of the Knights Templar....more

Before I get started, some of you may be wondering why Ms. Reynolds would revisit characters she already wrote about. She explains that very eloquently in her Dedication in BETRAYED:
This one’s for all of my readers who asked for more of Raphael and Cyn.
And, if you have read, RAPHAEL (Vampires in America, #1) you know exactly what she is talking about. If not, what are you waiting for? But wait…..BETRAYED is more than just a hot, sexy romp in the hay to keep us occupied between one novel and the next – oh, no no no! It’s a devious plot to introduce us to not one, but two – TWO – powerful vampires all rolled into an assassination attempt and a turf war.
BETRAYED starts with a bang when a sniper decides to take a few shots at Raphael and misses. *shakinghead-stupidhuman* And the fun has just begun! Cyn immediately goes into her over-protective mode and doesn’t trust the new vamp that has arrived on scene; no matter that he is one of Raphael’s sired children. She’ll make her own judgment calls.
Intro #1: Jared Lincoln will be Raphael’s new Lieutenant. And from his description, I envision a blending of Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson and Denzel Washington. ….yummy…
The maneuvering really gets underway as Raphael, Cyn and the rest of his group discuss what steps to take next to find the sniper, who hired him/her, and how it relates to Lucas’s war. Speaking of the Irish Devil…..
Intro #2: Lucas, Vampire Lord of the Plains, who looks enough like Raphael that to “the casual observer might easily think they were brothers.” Powerful and playful, mischievous and deadly.
The way he said her name reminded her of Raphael when they’d first met. He pronounced it with exactly the same sensuous shading, as if they spoke of sin rather than simply saying her nickname. And the sin he had in mind wasn’t exactly missing church on Sunday, either.
BETRAYED works on all levels. It’s a good ‘ole fashioned, turf war with a bit of romance (and hot sex) story that has strong characters and, naturally, betrayals. It just so happens that the main players are vampires. My kind of vampires: Strong, skilled, honorable, faithful, predators. BETRAYED shows that Ms. Reynolds continues to raise the bar in her Vampires in America series. I can’t wait to read LUCAS. I want to see how he deals with a pesky FBI Agent; well, among other things…......more

Bella and her girlfriends (four gals total) have a "Pact of Seduction". Basically, one at a time, each of them will have their one sexual fantasy fulfilled. And after the night of bliss, the gal comes home (they all share a house and are roomies) to spill the deets to her friends, etc., blah, etc., romance follows.
When Bella experiences a serious fail with her initial Pact, Kole offers her a BDSM fantasy scene. He has been attracted to Bella for quite a while now, but she has rebuffed his advances because she hasn't been interested in BDSM. She has plenty of interest in Kole, just not too keen on his chosen lifestyle - until now.
I liked this book from page one. Anyone that has ever dated for any length of time can empathize with Bella during the opening scene; no matter your choice of partner. I couldn't help but chuckle right along with her.
Ms. Kennedy delivers a powerful erotic novel complete with a HEA. It contains what I feel are the necessary elements (dominance, submission, aftercare, power exchange) of a well-written D/s story. Due to the length of the book, they are covered in just enough detail without going overboard. If you are new to the world of BDSM, tread lightly here. Otherwise, Master Kole's dungeon has a plethora of toys, ropes, benches, and floggers - just to name a few - to tame even the most stubborn of submissives. And he isn't afraid to use them!

KEEPER OF SECRETS is a short story, less than 50 pages, and Ms. Thomas puts her own spin on the vampire genre. Not all of the myths about her vamps are answered (I didn't expect them to be), but it doesn't distract from the storytelling.
This is your basic trope of good guys vs. the bad guys with a lady caught in the middle needing protection. Both Hayden and Amelia try to deny their mutual attraction, but Hayden is Amelia's personal Guardian and is therefore forbidden from developing any kind of "personal" relationship with her. I did like that there were three type of vamps: Guardians, Defenders, and Warriors. The story does end with a HEA and not all ends were wrapped up. A series may be in the making.
I'm not sure, but I think KEEPER OF SECRETS may have seen a rewrite since I received the review copy. I enjoyed visiting in Ms. Thomas' world and hope that she continues to write. I want to know more about the Warriors....more
