What a delightful story! It reminds me of the classic fairytale only it has a paranormal, sexualized spin to it. The older sister sacrifices and marries the ugly ogre for the good of the family while the younger sister gets to marry her Love: The Handsome Prince.
Wisia does what she can to help her sister prepare for her perfect wedding. Including corresponding with the new pack liaison, Gerik, to ensure everything goes smoothly. Hey, seating charts are important! What Wisia isn’t prepared for is the drop-kick to her, umm, chest when she finally meets Gerik. Younger Sis, Varina, plays her role well as the unintentional match-maker. While the “worthless dosser” of a husband is managed in a proper fashion.
That last little bit of the blurb - “Contains explicit sex” is just a tease. Because, yes it does, including: An orgy with a peak of a ménage/interracial foursome and a very brief F/F scene (Which I felt played well into the story line.).
I did find it odd that lizards, yes lizards, were the preferred mode of transportation. Yet, it strangely grew on me.
One more thing. Don’t judge this book by its cover. That hand and those fingernails creep me out. Just sayin’…(less)
A collection of nine stories revolving in and around the Vampires in America series by D. B. Reynolds. Yes, they are short stories. Yes, you will find them more enjoyable if you have read the series. Yes, the ebook cost is 99¢. But come on, this ninety-nine cents is a pittance for something that will bring you incalculable gratification. Did I mention you should keep your significant other close at hand?
Three Vignettes provide a more intimate picture of Cyn and Raphael on Valentine’s Day, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. Vignette #4, THE PARTY, details a bit more of Cyn’s family, but what I found to be more exhilarating is just how ALPHA Raphael can be!
The stories with Sophia and Colin and with Duncan and Emma are not to be missed either. Sophia deals swiftly with a challenge. While a wilder side of Emma starts to appear.
What I liked the most were the two stories featuring Sarah and Rajmund about his proposal and their wedding. THE WEDDING is the last story of the ebook and one of the best. The three mighty Vamp Lords come together, with entourage in tow, for the wedding when two of the ladies get kidnapped. What follows is priceless Cyn!
“We absolutely have to get out of here first. Raj will have a fit if he wakes up and I’ve been kidnapped again.”
“Tell me about it,” Cyn agreed gloomily. “Hell, if Raj is anything like Raphael, neither one of us will see the sunlight for years. Decades maybe.”
Sarah nodded vigorously. “Plus, it would totally ruin my wedding.”
“And that is the number one reason why it’s not gonna happen. You don’t fuck with a woman’s wedding day. So, let’s get this show on the road.”
It was a pleasure revisiting with the posse from the Vampires In America series and the hottest uber-alpha Vampires in town!(less)
If you’re not familiar with the 1NS series of short stories, well then, you are in for a treat.
Ellie has been depressed and feeling worthless ever since her last boyfriend dumped her. She decides to use the services of Madame Eve and 1NS (One Night Stand) to treat herself to a night of no-strings attached, uncomplicated, completely fulfilling debauchery. Bryce on the other hand had grown tired of string of women coming through the revolving door. The services offered by Madame Eve allow him to satisfy his physical needs and give something back to the women in return.
For a short story, Ms. Kennedy packs a wallop. Just enough emotional pain, love lost, and self-esteem issues to get you involved with the characters but not overburden the story. Ellie’s one-night stand is more than she ever expected; as Bryce worships her and brings out the woman hidden inside. But oh no, this is not a one-way street. What Ellie unknowingly offers Bryce is too good to be true.
Get out the fan and ice water and keep them close by – you’ll need them. (less)
Little did Armand know what he was walking into when he strolled into Del Fantasma. He was searching for a brief respite from the unrelenting chill running through his body and the loneliness that was his constant companion. Krakow sat alone in the dark of the corner. He needed to be in the company of these beings, but couldn’t risk the pain again and so kept to himself. Enter matchmaker extraordinaire: the owner of Del Fantasma and bartender, Cody Warren.
Cody sets a Toasted Almond (yes, it’s a cocktail) in front of Armand and tells him to go sit over in the corner where it’s warmer. Krakow wonders what exactly Cody is up to, sending someone over to his corner; knowing good and well the guy will move as soon as he finds the corner too warm. Relaxing, Armand finds the warmth comfortable and even starts to sweat. He is startled when he realizes he is not alone in that corner. Krakow is amazed as he watches Armand’s reactions to Krakow’s heat.
“What’s happening here?” Armand gasped out, breaking into Krakow’s contemplation. “Who are you?” Could it be? Was it possible? Does he have any idea? No. If there were one thing Krakow felt sure of it was that the man beside him truly had no clue as to his nature.
As Krakow takes Armand under his wing to gingerly guide Armand to his true nature, the power of these two magnificent beings ignite the pages. Careful….or you may get singed! Armand’s insistent eagerness is tempered by Krakow’s methodical and deliberate development of Armand’s nature. Whoa! And it is hot – scorching - hot!
The paranormal features are well developed for a short story. A time or three I would re-read just to be sure I was clear on what I had read. Okay, I admit - I am a virgin when it comes to this creature and I’ve just had my cherry popped. (But now that I’ve had a taste, I want more. Yes, Laurie, you told me so.) Krakow and Armand are sincere but cautious when moving forward, but they are more fearful of saying “No” and not finding out at all.
Overall, a blistering man love, paranormal romance that will leave you breathless. Hmm, I think it’s time for a Toasted Almond. (less)
If you’re looking for the sanitized, romanticized or even (GAH someone slap me) the twinkling day-walking vampire – thank you Mr. Chase, because you won’t find them here. Mr. Chase has created a world that puts the vampire right back where it all began. In the shadows, at the top of the food chain; peering down at us with those mesmerizing eyes, captivating us with their beauty. Harkens back to the day of the vampire as true predator.
Katherine and Alexander are drawn together by an unquenchable need and lust; their passion the only thing they have in common. Little do they know, however, they do hunt each other in a totally different way. Katherine is searching for the killer in a string of horrendous murders, which Alexander has committed, but only in self-preservation. As Katherine’s investigation closes in on a suspect, and she thinks it may be Alexander, her outlook on life changes. Alexander knows he must take action to prevent his kind from being exposed or he forfeits everything.
From Page One, I was hooked by Mr. Chase’s writing style and world building. Nothing ho-hum, tedious, or lagging. On the contrary, at times I was a smidgeon overwhelmed. DARK IS THE NIGHT will satisfy readers of the paranormal, suspense, and erotic romance genres. There is one short f/f/m scene, but don’t get your panties in a wad Girls.
I would be remiss if I did not caution you of the graphic sex and violence in DARK IS THE NIGHT. Well, the sex you expected, but the violence you may not; this is not for the faint of heart. I feel the violence (and sex, of course) is warranted. They play a very large part in the development of not only the relationship of Katherine and Alexander, but of how Katherine sees herself and to what lengths Alexander will go to protect her.
Some of you may find Katherine’s actions unbelievable (it is fiction), but ask yourself this question: What would you do for love? Where is the fine line? The real, true, ever-lasting, can’t live without, he/she completes me, love. What Mr. Chase has penned is a bit reminiscent of Etta Place and Bonnie Parker (just two examples that come to mind). Except that Mr. Chase has delivered it to us wrapped via an uber-sensual vampire in the delicious tale of two souls colliding with each other, overcoming the frightening odds, and having their HEA. BRAVO! After all, this is romance! (less)
A love story of Samson and Delilah. I know, it sounds corny, but it works.

A love story of Samson and Delilah. I know, it sounds corny, but it works.
Samson believes the woman in distress that shows up on his doorstep is his “surprise” birthday gift stripper from his friends. This case of mistaken identity leads to a passion that can’t be denied, secrets revealed and deception from unexpected sources. An original storyline that includes a powerful vampire with ED and several vampires who visit a psychiatrist on a regular basis. If the opening sentence of this novel doesn’t grab your attention, then someone needs to check your pulse – STAT! Oh, and yeah, it’s a dead giveaway of more to come…..
Although the plotline was thin and I could see where the story was going, it was fun getting there. Samson was a bit “over-the-top” at times and it took Delilah F-O-R-E-V-E-R to grow a backbone. The cast of characters are intriguing and the humor sprinkled throughout the story didn’t detract from it. I sure would like to be a fly on the wall when Amaury has his sessions with Dr. Drake. *giggle* (Sorry, Girls, I keep thinking of Rick Springfield!) Ms. Folsom puts a different spin on her vampire lore; it’s a breath of fresh air. (less)
It doesn’t matter what romance genre (or name) Ms. Tabke chooses to write: Erotic (Hot Cop Series), historical (Blood Sword Legacy Series), or paranormal (L.O.S.T Series). You can be assured of an intense story with expertly crafted characters that will have you captivated.
Falon always knew she was “different” from everyone else; something inside her just wasn’t right. After running away from a foster home at a young age, she barely survives on her own. Her initial meeting with a Slayer “Conan” is also her first introduction to Rafael. Once Rafael takes care of the Slayer, he takes Falon with him. After all, the slayer wanted her for some reason; she must be important. And thus, the ride begins!
Let’s get this straight….There was nothing – NOTHING – that I didn’t love about this book. It starts out with a bit of background to get the story rolling. How the Lycans and Slayers came to be; their ongoing feud; necessary stuff like that. At times, this is a violent story. The violence plays an integral part of how the characters develop. This is one hot, steamy, sizzlin’ read. The only reason I didn’t give BLOOD LAW the highest sexual rating is because of the almost ménage. (Hey, you’re going to have to read it to find out!) Now, a few of my highlights.
Falon: the growth of this character is astounding! She begins as a weak, fearful girl and develops into a strong alpha; oh, so deserving of her alpha Lycan.
“Complicated?” she shrilled. “You hold my life in your hands and all you can tell me is, it’s complicated?” He stood quiet, unable to defend himself.
“I don’t want to die. I will not die because of your Blood Law. If that messes with your day, too damn bad.”
Rafael, the alpha leader of the Vulkasin clan. He does whatever is necessary for the survival of his clan. Even if it means sacrificing his happiness and the destruction of his chosen one. Rafael is the “light” brother.
Lucien is the outcast; the “dark” brother, alpha of the Mondragon clan. Although he and Rafael are identical twins, it is easy to tell the difference between them: Light and dark, day and night. When Lucien’s chosen one is murdered, he claims Blood Law.
There are concurrent storylines running in BLOOD LAW. The war between the Lycans and the Slayers. The hostility between the brothers. The blooming of Falon and her relationship with Rafael. The survival of the Lycans. All of them are intertwined with one another and turns BLOOD LAW into a howling fantastic novel. Also, there is a bit of knowledge concerning Falon’s heritage that has yet to be discovered, along with what “destiny” has in store for the brothers.
BLOOD LAW does not have your typical HEA, but what it does have will blow you away! (less)
Javier left Catherine 200 years ago without a word. Now he’s back and wanting to pick-up where they left off. Only this time, Catherine isn’t the same young wolf Javier knew; she has done quite a bit of growing up since then. She is on an undercover mission with the fey, Talen, to save both of their clans and the Were King Brac, who has been kidnapped by the Fey King, Feroas. Javier could very well put their lives in danger. Someone has been helping Feroas gain more magick and power.
Now he waltzed back into her life, expecting to pick up right where they had left off. He should have known that things had changed. Life wasn’t the same as when they were both young senators in Barcelona. It was more complicated now and more dangerous.
I liked the premise of this story: kidnapping, suspense, and subterfuge with the addition of a bit of ménage a trios (m/f/m = vamp/were/fey), m/m, and a bit of bondage. However, when the characters kept referring to the Senate in Barcelona and the Immortal Council, I felt as if I was missing something important. Maybe it was the back story of the Council and the history of Javier and Catherine.
The one ménage scene was puzzling. I understand what and why Javier, Catherine and Talen participated, but it didn’t work for me. The scenes between Catherine and Javier were hot and intense - those silken, heated ribbons Javier used…..well….. The m/m went overboard with the cruelty involved.
Javier remembered the rumors he had heard back in Barcelona of the fey king’s sexual preferences. Feroas dominated his servants in every way possible and that included sexually. It didn’t matter whether they were male or female. The tales of abuse and humiliation made Javier cringe.
King Feroas was using orgies, sex and violence, and the energies they produced to gain more and more power. Feroas hunger for power is almost comical.
If you’re a Suzanne Rock fan and you enjoyed Book 1 of the Immortal Realms, I’m sure you’ll like this one. For me, the promise of an impressive tale was lost in the tangle of brutality and magick, magick, magick. (less)
This is the first in Ms. Keraleigh's Fairy Series. I really wanted to rate/review this as a 5-An Alpha Howl, but the dialog seemed a bit choppy at times. Nevertheless, I was not disappointed - nope - nada. I am expecting great things from Ms. Keraleigh and her Fairy Series!
Oh no, don't be shakin' that head! I was skeptical at first, too. Fairies, with wings *chuckle* come on! It sounded silly to me, but once I started reading, these "muscled models" wearing loincloths had me hooked! Ms. Keraleigh has written a whimsical fairy world full of scrumptious fairy men and women. Where one can lounge about on gigantic sunflowers, under the sun (or moon) while waiting for your fairy man to............
The fairy population is dwindling. King Carrick travels to the earth's surface in search of that rare human female that may be able to see him; in the hopes they can produce offspring. Once mated, the human body must be prepared by the fairy flavor. *wagging eyebrows*
Brook is one of those rare females. King Carrick seduces Brook, the attraction is hot and smokin', and he takes her to his kingdom. He wants Brook to be his Queen. Now, Brook loves her fairy man deeply and has decided to stay in the fairy Kingdom and be his Queen, but she would be the one to make the decision when they have children. Oh, and be on the lookout for Wick, and his "licks".
Everything isn't all gumdrops and lollipops in Fairyland when the trolls set a trap for Carrick and attack Brook. My heart broke for the wingless fairy, Valen, "a sex God on steroids". All he wanted was to be loved; not to be alone.
During the Crowing of the Queen and the tasting of the honey, oh my, *fanning self*
I want more Wick and Whisper! What happened to Thame?!? And, yes, dammit, Valen too!!! (less)
