They weren't the usual type of characters I am used to reading. The "fake" engagement storyline was pleasant enough, but at times the writing style was awkward and choppy.
Overall, you won't be disappointed with another edition to the Uniformly Hot SEALs series, especially when Aiden gives an ultimatum to Sage:
"Sex between us is going to be mind-blowing," he said, his words low. His eyes were like fire, so hot and tempting as they looked into hers. "It's going to be so good, you'll never forget it. You'll never get over it. It's going to be addicting sex. Make-you-come-in-ten-years-just-at-the-memory-of-it sex."

A hot little number of loosely connected stories about the shenanigans of a few people at the BDSM club, Dark Grove Plantation. These are short stories, mostly written in the first person, about the D/s dynamic, but they are not just "sex" stories. They are character and relationship driven within the confines of the D/s and BDSM lifestyles.
Because of the storylines, be prepared for very Dominant men, increased levels of kink (public play, whipping, bondage, spanking...to name a few) and HEA's. Each of the Ladies travel their own unique path towards submission, and their Doms are "no-holds-barred" in getting them there. There were times those Doms were utter asshats, but still, they know what their "subs" need. My favorite story was TAKEN with Ella and Brandon.
Two things surprised me. One - no condoms were used. Never. No pause to grab one, tear the foil with his/her teeth and roll it on. Fine with me, I rolled with the story. Two - no page numbers. AGH!!! This drove me crazy. I made sure my bookmark was always in place.(less)
Many times readers (and the unknowing general population) believe all erotic romance novels are porn without the pictures. Some I have read would fall into that category, but not UNCOMMON PASSION. This book has plenty of sexual activity between the main characters. P-L-E-N-T-Y! But it is the developing relationship of Ben and Rachel which propels the story forward and the sex becomes a catalyst for their change.
Ben followed her to the door. "Same time next week?" he asked.
She paused in the doorway and looked at him, trying to understand the causes and consequences of desire. He wasn't trying to trap her or second-guess her, or even protect her. All he offered was a chance to experience something intoxicating, radically thrilling. For now, it was enough.
"All right," she said.
From reading the synopsis, I had the impression this book was about a sexually innocent and uneducated woman looking to hook-up, maybe have a good time, learn a bit and call it a night. The typical alpha hero who had a few issues to resolve yada, yada, yada. Yes, I was right on both accounts, but there is so much more to the story!
Ms. Calhoun has written two complex characters whose layers are slowly peeled away as the story develops. Rachel is a strong woman, fighting for her independence and learning to live by her own rules. She is finally learning how to feel! On the other hand, Ben doesn't want to feel, doesn't want "emotions" and does whatever he can not too.
"I can't keep doing this, Ben," she said, gesturing around the hotel room.
He barked out a laugh. "You wanted a man who wouldn't care. I'm that man. Never expect a man to change. What you see the first time is what you'll get the last time."
"How disappointing," she said. How sad. How tragic.
"Lower your expectations."
"I meant for you," she said as gently as he'd been harsh.
When Ben finally admits and faces his fears, it's such a "guy" moment. It's fantabulous!
This book can be read as a standalone, it isn't necessary to read the first book in the series, Uncommon Pleasure. However, that is where Ben Harris makes his first appearance.
If you, Dear Reader, like erotic romance, GO - NOW and buy this book! Ms. Calhoun is now on my auto-buy list. And with these covers, not for my ereader. Oh, hell no!(less)
Yes, I first picked this book up based totally on the cover. I am a Paul Marron admirer afterall. It was only then I read the synopsis on the back. Never heard of the author or book before, but I liked the description and the cover sold me.
UNCOMMON PLEASURE contains two short stories about US Marines (once a Marine, always a Marine). Their stories are told separately, yet they intersect because these gentlemen are moonlighting for the same agency.
The heroines of both OVER THE EDGE and ALL ON THE LINE own their sexuality and take control of it - knowing what they want. Yet, underneath the hard veneer is a soft warm woman looking for her OTL and HEA.
Her heroes are alpha male through and through. They just wear it differently. I love these guys because they're so cocky and sexually intense. Once their heart becomes involved, the tough facade starts to crack and their vulnerability slips through. It's during this OSM they realize what asses they have been and this woman just may slip through their fingers.
Both of the stories have multiple sex scenes to delight your senses with one m/f/m in each. And oohhh....I look forward to seeing Ben Harris again in Uncommon Passion. Hot Damn - what a cover!(less)

No questions asked, no last names given: Just hot animal sex with a break or two for some shut-eye and a bite to eat. Which of course leads to a case of unspoken truths between Blake and Alexia. Blake, who doesn't do relationships because he can't put the burden on someone waiting and worrying about him at home - his job is too dangerous. And Alexia, plain and simple, she doesn't do Navy SEALs.
The heat and connection develop between Alexia and Blake fast and furious. They try to deny their feelings for each other, but a third party has different plans which bring the two together in an unexpected way.
Alright, I admit it - I caved. I usually don't follow the crowd and read what is popular. I don't know Bones from Barrons from Curran. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not totally in the dark - LOL! It's just that there is sooo much to read and only so many hours in a day. So, yes, I caved after reading all of the press about FSOG and decided to give BARED TO YOU a shot. Really? Seriously? What was all the fuss about.
Eva and Gideon belong to the very exclusive - filthy rich, beautiful people club. There is a catch though; both of them are psychotic having suffered traumatic abuse during their childhood. Eva has (and still is) getting professional help but Gideon, nope, he has a long way to go. Eva's abuse is spelled out, but it is never clear what Gideon is struggling with. Throw into the mix Eva's bisexual, self-destructive (and gorgeous no matter what he wears) roommate, Cary; her looney, but just as gorgeous Mother; and all the other beautiful people in their circle, and you have a prime-time Manhattan drama in the making.
Gideon has commitment problems; then he has issues with possessiveness and jealousy. Eva wants a relationship, but has she self-esteem issues. She'll get jealous or upset and instead of trying to talk it out with Gideon, she runs. And Gideon, well he doesn't talk about problems very well either, he uses sex. There was quite a bit of make-up sex - hot 'n heavy taking place in the shower, the limo, the home library, the office.
The turning point for me was when Eva laid this gem on Gideon:
He pressed a kiss to the crown of my head. "I can't stand the thought that you're waiting for this to end. That's what you're doing, isn't it? That's what you sound like." "I'm sorry." "We just have to make you feel secure." He ran his fingers through my hair. "How do we do that?" I hesitated a moment, then went for it. "Would you go to couples therapy with me?" The stroking of his fingers paused. He stood silently for a moment, breathing deeply. "Just think about it," I suggested. "Maybe look into it, see what it's about." "Am I doing this wrong? You and me? Am I fucking it up that much?" I pulled back to look at him. "No Gideon. You're perfect. Perfect for me, anyway. I'm crazy about you. I think you're-"
Excuse me - I think you're perfect but you need therapy!?! After two weeks (or less) of fucking dating, whose asks that? But it didn't change the caliber of the story for me. It was still misunderstandings, jealousies, SOS - different day, hot sex and a HFN to be continued in the next installment, DEEPER IN YOU.
One more thing, if you please. When I turned the last page of this book, I found a Readers Guide with Discussion Questions. Ah hell, I should have known better. Any book that ends with essay questions instead of an epilogue is not for me. (less)

I was excited to get started on the next installment of the Fast Track series because the story is about a jack man instead of a driver. Also, it was about time Eve saw some action. And that cover, just so yummy.
Nolan Ford is the jack man (the crew member who carries the jack over the wall to service the car when it comes in to make a pit stop) for Evan Monroe's team. Well, he had what you would call a "wardrobe malfunction" on pit road when his fire suit split down the back seam. Nolan likes to go commando.
Eve Monroe, sister of stock car drivers Evan and Elec Monroe, and she is the PR Rep for both of them. Her job is to keep everybody happy. When this latest fiasco on the track happens and the video goes viral on YouTube, she can't fix the problem but tries her best to get Nolan to wear underwear.
The story starts out with snappy attitude and dialogue between Nolan and Eve. You can feel the sexual tension between the two of them and at any time it's just going to explode. Nolan's character as a laid-back Southern Boy who has landed his dream job is spot on. He's charming, intelligent, sexy as hell, knows what he wants, all without being arrogant.
Eve on the other hand has issues. She's not happy with her job or where she is at this point in her life. In the garage, the crew call her the "battle-ax". Eve wanted to drive a race car (she was very good at it), just like her brothers, but was told she couldn't because she was a girl and girls don't do that. This eats at her for years till she becomes a snippy bitch. The type of person who when you see coming - you get out of their way.
I made it to page 126. I'm sure Nolan and Eve find their HEA after some hot sexing (there wasn't any up to this point) and a grand misunderstanding, but there was no way I could read any more. Eve's continual ugly "teasing" and "taunting" remarks to Nolan were getting on my last nerve.
BTW, did you know that racecar spelled backwards is racecar!(less)
An anthology of four stories loosely based on a Valentine theme.
CUPID ONLY RINGS TWICE by Sam Cheever Review: 4 – A Pack Howl Sexual 2 – Steamy Rori overhears the “office jerk” make a bet with his posse that he can make her cry when she reads a note that he has written. This is a delightful and sexy story of competition not only in the office, but between a cupid and a demon. Those of us “young” enough to remember the good ole’ days of the drive-ins will chuckle when reading. . .
REUNITED by Helen Hardt Review: 3 – One Good Howl Sexual: 1 – Flirty Brett and Kathryn were the polar opposites in high school but he needed a tutor and well, she was the one appointed. Circumstances forced them apart. Years later, they are united, divorced, single parents and find their way back to one another. I like the way Ms. Hardt uses flashback in the story to show the history between Brett and Kathryn in high school. A heartwarming story of getting a second chance at love.
IT’S SWEETEST FORM by Xakara DNF – I really did try with this one. Tessa is an author who uses Eaton (vampire) and Brahm (shifter) to block her scenes in the erotic novels she writes. There is also a ghost named Agnes involved somehow. I stuck with all of the non-sex – ménage blocking until Brahm has an out-of-body experience as Agnes. Not for me.
MASQUERADE by Sloane Taylor Review: 4 – A Pack Howl Sexual: 2 – Steamy Clancy is on the vacation of her dreams in Venice when a handsome stranger sweeps her off of her feet and makes all of her wishes for the perfect vacation come true. An enchanting tale that takes you on a mini-tour of Venice via the romance of Clancy and her dashing Vittore.(less)

A goddess of passion, Pamina (with "cat" Abra in tow) takes on a challenge when she overhears three women who
uttered the dismal words "sworn off men", it meant she had work to do. It was time for her to summon a bit of magic, spread a little passion and show these women they were far too young to rely on sex toys for the rest of their lives.
The story focuses on Lindsay and her remodeling of a room at the Pleasure Inn. Both she and Chad are amiable but one dimensional characters. I grew bored with Lindsay's constant sputtering about lack of sex, sexual tension, swearing off men, etc.

Once they start to work together on a screenplay, the true colors start to show.
Don't expect to find a deep, emotional BDSM book here. Ms. Carr delivers a well-written novella where Ty and Gwen discover what they like, what they need, and in the end acknowledge their love for one another.
Gwen's is reluctant to commit fully to Ty because she's afraid of getting her heart broken again and he will find her abnormal.
"So what if we like our sex rougher than other people? So what if we get off on things other people find bizarre? Big deal. I'm not f*cking them. I'm f*cking you and I want the same things you do."
Oh yeah, and the warning at the beginning of the book about explicit sex, et al . . . all true!
Ms. Kennedy has turned up the heat in her latest 1NS short. It’s blazin’ HAWT Girlfriends!
Madame Eve takes it one step further when she pairs Blake and Taryn up for the night. As they aren’t exactly strangers; maybe even granting one of them a special request. These two broke up five years ago, and the lonely hearts have been miserable ever since.
No lollygagging around here as the story opens with a BDSM scene involving a flogger, a cane, and a mini vibe. Of course, you can expect a few ropes and anal sex to round things out. All of this kinky goodness is wrapped up in a contemporary romance that Ms. Kennedy delivers in excellence. Ms. Kennedy keeps upping the ante with her 1NS stories. They are like too many sweets for the brain and I want more!
Note to self: Do not read Ms. Kennedy 1NS stories in crowded airport terminals… (less)

Not only does Ms. Carr deliver up a smokin’ D/s romance, but she introduces a likeable Irish-American family too.
Keira is a college student with the hots for her teacher, Professor Mr. William Wallace. And here lately, her imagination has been getting the best of her as she:
envisioned herself tied spread-eagle to his bed as he whispered her name again. Tied to his bed? What the hell kind of image was that?
The relationship between Will and Keira develops quite swiftly. Will’s Dominant is a joy to watch as he struggles to come to terms with the “innocent” Keira and his desire to have her; especially since she isn’t his type. Keira is overworked at the family restaurant/pub and terribly undersexed. Well, until Will enters the picture. I especially liked that Will is a caring Dominant who explains his actions to Keira.
Oh yeah, Girls, keep the ice water handy! And this is only Book One of Seven of the Wild Irish Series. Count me in… (less)

Daniel "Diesel" Lange and Tuesday Jones have both suffered loses. Unfortunately, they haven't learned to fully deal with them yet. And it starts to affect their relationship. More so with Tuesday than Diesel. As Tuesday tends to turn to alcohol when she doesn't have a handle on a situation and feels it is spinning out of control.
Tuesday and Diesel are complete opposites in temperament and it works. I wanted Diesel to be a bit more alpha. His Dom actions in the bedroom fell short, but he did make an effort and Tuesday enjoyed them wholeheartedly.
Tuesday turning to alcohol when faced with grief and problems is more common then we realize. To see it portrayed in a contemporary romance setting was a nice change of pace.
