I am not the gushy type all over the moon about things; I am middle ground comfortable, so when I am screaming and shouting about something its profound. This for a picture book and how-to was very good. I loved the pictures as did other members of the family. 1 in particular that has a personality of a storm cloud over their head: actually had good things to say when shown the book. I recommend this if you are in need of a rainy day project or have to make something with a "wow" pop, but be fore warned these are full on Projects, recipes to make cupcakes are 10 minutes but after baking can be hours of work for some of the more elaborate BUT WORTH IT designs. Glad we got it, thanks honey.(less)

Many I will probably not use but there are some great ones I have used others I plan to use plus it has his shepherds pie and some good ones for stock.! I was not keen on many of the photos but then I don't buy recipe books for the photos. This is good to have on hand as part of any kitchen.(less)

The "Forward" is 3 pages, that's not too bad either. But then, there is a section entitled "FOR THE READER." I know there is an oxymoron joke in there somewhere.
"FOR THE READER" is 9 pages not including another section titled "FINDING FREQUENCY" that is 6 pages, ALL before you even GET to chapter 1 page 1.
"FOR THE READER" is confusing. I find myself thinking, huh? That last paragraph is about what? I feel like I am sitting at a mandatory work seminar praying for anything to spark up the monotone drone on stage.

I already knew that I should eat regular meals throughout the day in proper portions not the super size version, but have always had trouble eating even a full meal, being told by others I eat like a bird, (although birds do eat quite a lot. I get full quickly on small amounts and can barely get through the hamburger kids meal at McD, yet I am overweight. This book has helped tremendously in that it gives easy to fix meal options that I can actually follow. The recipes are tasty enough for the rest of the family and the eating out guide is equally helpful in making choices out. I am now actually eating more everyday and feel much better. Before I would only eat once a day at dinner. Yes I know very bad. There are a mix of recipes that use many ingredients or just a few, plus slow cooker ones so you are not chained to the kitchen. There is a jump start week menu/recipes and a cooking/freezing menu/recipe section as well. SOOOOO much information that you will actually USE. !(less)

I was a little surprised when my order arrived, as I had not anticipated it being so small. In reading I also expected the subject or information to be more somehow, not sure why. To begin with the information is not spelled out in how to fashion it IS a story. The daily grind of Olivia; a wife, mother of twins Nate & Natalie and a new employee of Mighty Power. Olivia a former waitress takes a job as a customer service rep (for the benefits her family needs) in the call center of the local power company. Olivia is having a hard time coping with everything her new job comes with plus the normal pitfalls that we all experience. Luckily for her Isabel a senior rep has something to share. She teaches Olivia steps to dealing with it all. The final outcome is that while this is a story, the "how to" is in disguise like hiding broccoli under the nacho cheese. I feel it difficult to explain the concepts in a step 1 - 2 - 3 format. This is one book you just have to read for yourself. And this book applies to all job formats not just customer service or call centers. What I can share is this my thoughts on " SODA " : Stop Observe Decide Act. - Stop - take one beat, one breathe, one moment, IN the moment, to really see what "is". What is happening IS, and YOU in a split second make the choice " is it good or bad," so take YOU out of the equation and really "see" - Observe. Then make an informed choice, to decide what your "actions" will be. Are your actions rude - angry - dismissive - critical - disrespectful - narcissistic ? Or are you Polite - caring - helpful - understanding - empathetic - the idea of long past "to walk a mile in my shoes," to understand me before you make a character assignation OF me - a complete stranger - because: by my appearance or situation you think you know me - because some guy of a friend of a friend etc. The outpouring of care, concern, & unquestioning help has been willingly sent to Haiti - why can we not live this compassion everyday in our own country, our own states, cities, jobs, homes, and with ourselves ? Yes I finished this in 1.5 days.(less)
