A short story. 20-30 minutes of your time. Time will tell if I read other books from this author.(less)

Although this time, Craig has had plastic surgery to impersonate an FBI agent(Max Siegel) whom he murders in cold bloood. Craig, alias Siegel, is called upon to help Cross and the rest of the MDP solve what is called The Numbers Murders.
Cross and Craig are on a stake out together one night. Cross still does not realize that it is not Siegel. They begin talking and he asks Cross if he could kill Craig face to face, Cross replied no. Craig was really surprised about this information.
Cross marries a few weeks later and is on his honeymoon. He also invites his family to accompany he and his new bride which they did. Lo and behold, who should call Cross one morning, but Craig himself. Cross was shocked. He looked all around the secluded beacg area and spotted Craig holding a gun to his sons' head. Nobody messes around with his family.
The ending is a shocker. But one must remember, Kyle Craig thinks he is the Mastermind.
I always enjoy Alex Cross books. They keep you guessing during the whole book. It's hard to believe that Cross and Craig were once best buddies; now, they're arch enemies. Craig always tries to be one step ahead of Cross, but Cross questions his motives always. I'm not sure how many Alex Cross books are left in the series but I'll be sad when they are gone.

This is what most believe. When they are set free, they have only one goal in mind. That goal is to prove their innocence.
Reed Conway is set free after 15 years in prison. The jury found him guilty of murdering his stepfather. He and his stepfather were arguing and fighting one night but knows that he left him alive that night.
While he is serving his prison sentence, he sends a few letters to the prosecutor's daughter. Shortly after Reed is set free, these letters are being sent more frequently. There are also murders and mysterious happenings in this quiet little town.
Reed is desperately trying to prove his innocence. He seems to think that someone wants him back to jail.
This book kept my attention and didn't actually figure out who committed the murders until the end. I thought of 1 or 2 who could've done it. It definitely did have a twist at the end.(less)

One such crime the Lipstick Killer who shoots down mothers and their babies. The killer does have a gun which doesn't make a sound.
The other crime is what they mickname Hello Kitty. Kitty is a burglar who enters famous people's houses when they are giving dinner parties. He/She seems to know exactly where the jewelry safe is in the house.
Will they solve all the crimes in a timely fashio or do they call the FBI for help.
I found this woman's murder mystery club read as fascinating as the others. Patterson can not seem to write this series fast enough for my liking.(less)

One of these nights, an intruder abused this trust.
The second oldest daughter is at the stage of her life where she is inquistive of everyone and her surroundings; how people percieve her and how others live and think outside of her community. The Amish are able to have jobs in their hometown even if the business is owned by the English people,i.e., they are not Amish. She starts to hold a job in a quilting shop when she turns fifteen.
Men begin to flirt with her and she finds this fascinating. She starts to socialize with them and loves the attention. She sneaks out of the house at night and deals in activities that are not in accordance with the Amish ways. Severals months later, she is found murdered and slaughtered. Not only the intruder kill her, he also killed the whole family which consisted of seven people. Did the daughter know the person responsible for the killings? Why would he did murder all of them?
Kate Burkholder, who is chief of police in the community, is appalled that someone would commit a crime of this magnitude. She remembers how peaceful and trusting the people are since she was Amish in her younger days. She is an outsider to their ocmmunity but she is still able to speak their language which is Pennsylvania Dutch. Kate knows how to relate to this people.
I love this series. The Amish are interesting people. I doubt that I could live that lifestyle since it is so simple. I also find it interesting that the chief of police used to be Amish and in this way, she knows how the Amish think and can relate to that.
This book didn't get 5 stars from me since the ending didn't quite work for me. I felt that KAte shouldve had more police back-up. They are more but I don't want to spoil any of the story.

A person with a ski mask on is waiting for them and shoots the man. He falls down dead. His companion is shocked but spared. There are other people in the elevator as well and are shocked beyond belief.
His family is notified and they do not know who could have done it. He has no enemies that they know of. Is it one of their former employees who has a vendetta against them?
The family's son major in college was film and theatrical. Since he is a millionaire in his right, he has no interest in having a job. He likes to watch movies and play his tennis matches. He also lives out his life according to what movies he enjoys at the time. He quotes movie lines constantly and impresses people with this charming feature.
Is he acting out a movie this time or is the killer a half a dozen characters that Brown has shown us in this book?
Brown's books always leave you guessing who commits the murder until the end. She also has a twist at the end. And this book has a big one.

It was very difficult keeping up with the Badness, the FBI and the Standing. For this reason, it took me about 1-2 weeks reading it. I usually read only a book at time but I just HAD to put this one down and read another one before finishing this one. I was surprised that I remembered what was going on in the book during that intermission. Suppose that says positively about the story. I did not read any of the reviews before reading this book so I was surprised that most people gave it a 2.88 rating. Now, I don't feel so bad about not appreciating this author.(less)

Kate, the sheriff of a small town, witnesses a murder from years past and hasn't told anyone. Only her family knows and she was advised not to tell anyone.
A deceased body is found in this small town after several years. Several more are discovered over a course of months. How those bodies were killed causes Kate to remember what happened in the past when her parents were alive. Her Amish ancestry keeps her from telling the truth what truly went on many years ago.
Her job depends on her finding who the killer really is. Will she tell?
I found this book to be very suspenseful. My family and I used to visit the Amish markets when I was little. These people intrigue me.
Castillo's book debut is very well written. I look forward to reading more from this author.(less)

I can't imagine that this kind of terrorism exists in Nigeria & other places around the world. Thank goodness for the good ole USA!!
The cover flap said that this is his best thriller and they sure are right!! It was very hard for me to read at times because this book is very violent. Once the books seems to be easy-going *BAM* it gets violent once again. It sure made me queasy and nauseous at times. From the time that he was on the plane, was in jail & even when the government over there sent him home. He really must like being a detective because if I encountered any of the situations that he was in, I would've left town. But, he wanted to catch the person-Tiger--who murdered his first love & her family so he persevered for that reason. There were so many people whom he met who turned out to be bad guys even though they said they were the good guys. There were several times where he couldn't trust anybody. He couldn't trust anybody who said they were CIA or anyone in the police force except for his partner,Sampson, and his giflfriend, Bree. There was a moment where he even thought the Tiger has killed him family. Of course, this happened in other books of his as well & hasn't come to be. If you haven't read this book yet, you won't be let down when you do. It's a roller coaster of a ride!! And, as always, there's a 'cliffhanger' at the end. When he gets rid of this one particular person, it will be all over IMO.(less)

President Roosevelt is in term at this time. He requests Alex's presence at The White House and has a mission for Alex should he choose to accept it. Roosevelt has heard too many racial happenings down South; mainly in the state of Mississippi. He wants someone to do down there and report back to Roosevelt. He has heard of Alex's reputation of accepting pro bono cases and thinks he is picking the correct man for this job. Alex accepts the offer from the President and takes the train to Mississippi the next day.
Alex re-acquaints himself with many residents in this town since this is where he grew up. He meets his best friend while they were growing up. He meets his first girlfriend. Most of the people in this town are still living here. They like the way of living. He takes a tour of the city and visits with many friends for a few days and then he gets down to the reason for his coming.
He knows the racial tension is oppressive but what he sees and hears is unbelievable. Alex gets himself in trouble when he gets involved in stopping the issue.
Patterson's books are great. What a great historial book one can't put down once you start reading it. You will get mad at some of the characters and the occurences that happen. You will like to put the book down, but it's just irresistible to do such a feat.

That made me kept my interest from page one. the main character is a 40-something nurse who lives alone. She cared for her mother til her mother died. She didn't marry so was always lonely. There is a cottage(which she used to live in while her was alive)behind the main house. After her mom died, she would rent out the cottage. And then strange things would being to happen. Is she delirious about what's going on? Pretty strange bedfellows in this book. She also started dating this one man but he decided to go back to his wife. This really irritated her. Everyone telling her what to do since she was a teenager. Her mother was always correcting her for everything. She was never good enough. Well, she got back at everybody for everything and anything. Read it and see if it reminds you of Arsenic and Old Lace.(less)
