We o...moreLover Reborn, in true JR Ward fashion, it's an emotional rollercoaster. It had me in tears pretty early on because there's just so much going on. We obviously have Tohr's past. He's still dealing, and not so well, with Wellsie's death. He is now facing Lassiter's purpose for being there, which is to free Wellsie's and his son's souls from the In Between so they can go on to the Fade. He's been holding them back. Not an easy weight to put on his shoulders.
Now his only hope to help them might be No'One. If he can give himself to another female, that might help them. Their relationship builds up gradually but Wellsie was always a big, ever-present part of their dynamics together. This was good and bad in my opinion, but it's the only way their story could've gone.
Tohr is just such a wonderful male, he's been beaten down by life just too many times and I'm really happy that things can look up for him and that he finally got his HEA.
No'One on the other hand was a very bland heroine for my taste. She had a lot of things to work out herself, but her personality was non existent for most of the book. Another thing that was developed off page was her relationship building with Xhex. I think I would've liked to see them come to terms as mother/daughter more.
Let me talk about my least favorite part of the book, and it's something a lot of you enjoy but I can't get into. The Bastards!! I find their bits quite boring, even though they are a much more interesting set of villains than the lessers we are used to. I could've used with less B.o.B. in this book. However, there are some interesting dynamics developing here and Xcor and Throe might be pining for the same woman. I will leave it at that.
Oh no wait! They're not my least favorite part. My least favorite part of this book was LAYLA!!! I want to murder the bitch.
Then we come to my favorite parts of this book. John Matthew and Xhex. You might known they are my favorite couple and JM just sweeps me off my feet more and more with each book, truly cementing himself as the ultimate male for me. In this book he is struggling with letting Xhex fight and put herself in danger, at the same time Xhex is going back to her old kick ass self. So their relationship takes a major hit. But I loved every bit of the suffering along with them. I am very happy to see Xhex back to her own self and JM recognizing who she is. She's always been my favorite because she is not the wilting flower that some of the others are. She tough, she can face down the bad guys and for has the ability to come out on top. And this book gives us that Xhex back. And is it biased to say I enjoyed their sex scenes best in this book???? *sigh*
And honorable mention goes out Lassiter. He was a stellar character in this book, plays a major role and he is just a lot of fun!
And then there's Qhuay. This book doesn't have a lot about them, but what happens that does involved them is heartbreaking. I don't think my poor beaten heart can take much more of this. They need their story NOW!!!! I think my head might explode if they don't get it next.
I did have a lot of quotes I marked on this book so here's some:
Then again, what could you call somebody who had been abducted by a symphath, violently forced to conceive, and then trapped by biology to bear the result of the torture? First and last name: I and Sorry. Middle name: Am.
John’s head cranked over, and he started to mouth, I love her so much. I’d die if anything happened to h— When he stopped short, Tohr took a deep breath through the pain in his chest. “I know. Trust me … I know.”
Life’s meant to be lived blind—that’s how you don’t take shit for granted.
“Free will is what it is. And palms, motherfucker? If you don’t mind.”
“You ever barbecue with that thing?” “Only lessers—and they ain’t good eatin’."
Rising up onto her tiptoes, she pressed her lips to his and spoke three words he hadn’t expected to hear again anytime soon. “I love you.” She kissed him again. “I love you so much, my hellren."
“Just as the seasons come full circle, so have we. When we first crossed paths, it was all about me, my selfishness, my focus on a tragedy I had lived through. This time it was all about you, your selfishness, your tragedy that you had lived through.”

I fell in love with Bowe in A Hunger Like No Other and since then I've wanted him to get his happy ending. I will admit that when we heard others speaking about his dead mate she didn't sound lije the best match for him.
Well this book did not disappoint! It was full of twists and turns, emotion, humor and more great characters!! It picks up where the last one left off and Bowe has to go rescue Mari from the cave he trapped her in so she can lift his curse or he'll die.
As all good, sexy lykae he has a very caveman attitude (yes, he does throw her over his shoulder to a cave to.have his wicked way with her, yum!) But we also get to see a side of him that's been hurting for centuries thinking he lost his mate and he could never have that again.
Mari is an amazing heroine, she's kick ass!! I still love the valkyrie but the witches are so much fun!! She's fun, she doesn't take any *** from anyone and she knows what she wants.
I was pleasantly surprised with the turn of events. I kept wondering is she or isnt she and the resolution at the end was unexpected. Job well done Ms Cole!
Bowe had his "jerk, I'm going to bash his skull to the wall!" moments but Mari always gave it right back! And his lack of judgement was always short lived so I forgive him. He's still my favorite lykae so far.(less)

An ode to Vlad...
Because you are fierce as few others Because you are caring to your friends and your people Because you are a protector amongst villains All that raw passion, sensuality and heat You make me melt with just a touch, just a look or a simple word There is no other like you I bow to thee You have my love, my heart, and even though you've found The One know that you will always be number one for me
What can I say? I'm in love! But I already knew that from the first moment I laid eyes on Vlad in the Night Huntress series. My love for him has only grown with each of those books to the point that when he's not around I feel his absence. When I found out that Ms. Frost was giving my boyfriend his own series, well... You can only imagine the fangirl screaming that caused. Of course with any book that I go into with such high expectations I'm always scared. And all I can tell you now is this book rocked my world!
But before I continue telling you all about Vlad, lets talk about Leila. She wasn't what I expected in a very good way. Her background is very interesting and she has some powers while she's still very much human. Having worked and traveled with the circus because of an accident that left her in the predicament of shocking the ever loving mind out of anyone she comes in contact with and being able to see their darkest, deepest secrets by just a touch. Tough to live with, yes, but very cool. And oh the possibilities! I also thought her personality was great! Vlad needed someone with some spice and some kick. I think she's the perfect blend. She's funny, she's strong, she's independent. But she's also vulnerable and soft. The perfect female for Vlad...well, after me of course.
"Beautiful and diabolical. You make me impatient indeed to claim you." ~ Vlad
And I have to mention that my heart was beating faster when I started reading and the heroine was going by the name of Frankie. I know, I know, her name is Leila, but when everyone was calling her Frankie I could just pretend that's how Vlad would call her and even though I've only had one person use that nickname for me, I'd take it gladly for Vlad. See? Just another point that he really should've ended up with me!
The story was full of action and intrigue as Vlad is being targeted by his enemies and he has to not only protect himself and his people, but protect Leila since she's the one that revealed the plot to him. I thought this was a job well done all around.
Especially with mixing enough romance in with this urban fantasy. Ms. Frost has always been one for straddling that line between genres and I decided to go with an urban fantasy category for this book but just know that the romance is a big part of this story. And oh what a wonderful part. Vlad is smooth even when he's extra cocky about his own self (pun intended). I wasn't expecting any less from Vlad because he just knows how to heat things up.
"I want to know what your end game is first." ~ Leila Another flash of teeth, this time showing his fangs. "To have you screaming my name within the hour." ~ Vlad
At the same time though, there was a tenderness and vulnerability to him that I always knew was there. He's been hurt, he's guarded himself. He's not an easy man to get close to and he lets Leila in. It was beautiful and sweet to watch him change for her and show her the attention, care and respect her always gave her. Always believing in her and not pushing her aside but wanting her to be better. Vlad can make Leila stronger and she can make him whole.
"You're not just versatile and complex - it's like you're a schizophrenic!" ~ Leila
And then there's the Night Huntress cast. Fun cameo appearances by Cat and Bones, as well as Mencheres and Kira. Bones is just too much sometimes and the banter between him and Vlad is comical. Yes, there's quite a bit of humor in this book as well.
Did I mention how perfect it was? OK good because in case you didn't realize it yet, you have to get this book because it will leave you breathless and aching for more. More story, more Vlad, just .... more!!!!!
"We are all more than the sum of our sins." ~ Vlad
"I' am so Googling 'Vlad Dracul' once this is all over," I stated. "Wikipedia knows more about his past than I do." ~ Leila

Everyone has been reading this book lately, and loving it, so I had to see what all the excitement was about. So here's what I thought...
Going in I thought this would be another erotic book with a decent story. But I gotta tell you I was not expecting what I got. And I say this in a good way. Let me explain.
First of all, I did find the writing style a little distracting because it read almost more like a screenplay than a book (that's the best comparison I can think of), so it didn't flow as easily for me. That's neither good nor bad, just my observation, and I think this was the main reason why I couldn't really feel a connection to the characters.
And the second point that stood out to me was the fact that I didn't find this book as erotic as I thought I would. Yes, there's some sex, some was actually pretty hot, but in general there was something lacking that, well, no toe curlings for me.
OK, so after saying all that you would think it doesn't sound like I enjoyed it. Sorry if that's how that came across. I did rate this 4 stars!
The story in this book is really good! I was completely sucked in. You have two very different individuals. Christian Grey is, well, he's unique. Even after finishing this book we don't know 100% what his past was all about, and I'm not sure what could've happened to him to make him such a screwed up man, but I can't help but want to know everything about him, what makes him tick.
Anastasia Steele on the other hand... Someone please pass me the paddle, I'll discipline her myself! She was a bit immature and at times annoying. However, I understand the why of her personality, I mean, what graduating college student doesn't even have an email? Yeah, my point is she must've been a very awkward kid, with almost no social skills or life experience, and all of a sudden thrown in a very strange environment.
And overall, I think she handled everything amazingly well. By the end of the book she had grown up a bit, and even though she has some more to go, at least she's learning from this experience. And hopefully Grey is also! That boy needs help! You do see a little bit of that in this book but I was a bit scared of his stalkerish tendencies.
One thing I loved were the cute little emails between them, with the quirky messages, the twichy palm, the shouty capitals. Just adorable!
And the ending, well, the last 25% of this book was great in my opinion and the cliffhanger at the end was just RAW and INTENSE. It's almost like watching a reality TV show, you're glued to it because you just have to know what's going to happen next. So I'll be getting book 2 soon because I just HAVE TO KNOW what happens next. (less)

He's arrogant, self-centered, selfish, powerful, driven, egotistical, ruthless. He wouldn't stop at anything to get what he wants. His only fear is betrayal. Betrayal by the ones he cares about, which is why he stopped letting people close.
Ohh but how I've loved his badass self throughout this series and this book was off-the-charts amazing. Completely different than a lot of the books in this series, this author never ceases to amaze me. She can create a completely different story every single time.
He's known his bride was Elizabeth since she was nothing but a human teenager. A mountain redneck human teenager, with no class and very little education at that. He never thought he could be paired with one such as her. Until Saroya possesses Ellie's body. That must be his bride. Fit to rule alongside him when he recovers his kingdoms! To free Saroya, he must destroy Ellie's soul. But he can't do that without La Doradas' ring. RRIIINNNNGGGGGGGG
I'm not telling you what happens, all I want to say is this: Lothaire is one bad, ruthless vampire, but he will make your body shudder and your girly bits quiver! He is so sexy! So in charge and in control! Ellie is very sweet and maybe just the right personality for him, and definitely the right species to bring him down a notch.
They've both been through so much but there were times when my heart would break for Lothaire, what he has suffered, why he is the way he is. And the moment he realizes that others have tried to help him and have been there for him is priceless.
And how can we forget the valkyries, crazy as always, love them. Best of all Nix. She has her lucid moments and her crazy ones, but when the haze in her head has to clear she manages to show us a bit more of her true self in this book. And all the new characters? Ohh the possibilities!
And the last thing I just have to say... if you've never listened to an audiobook, do yourself a favor and get this one. Robert Petkoff brings Lothaire to life, with a perfect and very sexy accent, and enough emotion in telling this story that I felt I was actually watching it play out in front of me.
In case all that was too much to decipher: I.L.O.V.E.D.T.H.I.S.B.O.O.K.(less)

Warning: This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride! Read it with a box of kleenex handy and be prepared to have your heart broken! IT'S THAT AMAZING!
This was a highly anticipated release, and as always, J.R. Ward didn't disappoint me. This book was amazing! From the beginning I felt drawn in to the story and found myself not wanting to put it down (even though I had to because of mundane things like, ohhh say, work).
The book picks up right where Lover Mine left off, with Payne injured, and Jane looking for Manny to come operate on her.
Payne: I truly loved her character. She's a fighter, she's strong, she knows what she wants and goes after it, and at the same time, she's sweet, she's innocent, she's loyal and she loves. I wanted to read a lot more about her!!!
Manny: Just one thing to say about him. I am in love. He's a perfect male. I would be his bambina anyday, anywhere! His romance with Payne is also perfect. And my main complaint about his book, maybe one of the reasons I'm not giving 5 stars, I wanted to read at least a bit more about them, even though what we got was hot and raw. (view spoiler)[Unresolved question: Is he ever getting turned or is Payne's glow going to keep him alive forever? I really wanted for him to get a set of fangs. Boy! Would that make this pair even sexier?!?! (hide spoiler)]
V: Yes, you've probably read this before, this book has a lot of V in it. And I couldn't have been happier that it did. (view spoiler)[V goes through some major emotional stuff after discovering he has a twin sister, and she's paralyzed, and then he finds Jane helping her kill herself. (hide spoiler)] I felt for V, he had me in tears, and in a way (view spoiler)[he might've gotten some closure to his issues, even though I think it should've been with Jane's help. (hide spoiler)]
Jane: Maybe some people will disagree with me here. Jane's never been one my favorite shellan's, even though I really like her character when her role is just as the Brotherhood's physician. I just never thought of her much as V's match, (view spoiler)[and in this book, in my opinion, she showed me she is not prepared to be everything V needs her to be. He's not a simple male, he's complicated, he has a lot of issues to deal with, and Jane just left him hanging in this one, with no support from his shellan. And when faced with his needs, she just dumped them on Butch! (hide spoiler)]
Butch: He's just awesome! I enjoyed every bit we got with him. (view spoiler)[How "creative" of him to use a spoon!!! LMAO I was expecting more from that scene, but I'm happy with the fact that it showed he knows V, and he knew what V needed deep inside, and he gave it to him, without a care for how he felt about doing it, or if it made him uncomfortable. He was the only one there, constantly, for V, and I love him for it. (hide spoiler)]
The Bastards: What an interesting addition to the storyline. I didn't feel the need to read about the lessers, and to be honest, in a lot of the previous books, the lessers are never that interesting that I want to read so much about them. These new "bad" guys are, and I can't wait to see where the story will go. (view spoiler)[Another complaint, and why this is not 5 stars. If Xcor has been searching for Payne for centuries because she killed his father, how is it possible that once he has her at his mercy, all she has to say is "He couldn't have been your father" and he just forgets the whole thing as if it all makes sense. "Oh, he's not my father? OK then, no problem, you go right ahead and sleep in my bed while we protect you until nightfall and the you can go" Anticlimactic. (hide spoiler)]
The Cops: I didn't mind reading their parts either. They were all very interesting, and as promised by the author, it gives us an insight on the character of the upcoming Fallen Angels book Envy, and we get to see more of Jose De La Cruz, a character that has always intrigued me, and I can't wait to see why he keeps popping up in the story.
I've left my heartbreak for last - we'll start slow...
Layla: I've been annoyed by her in the past. I don't hate her, I just don't care for what I've seen of her mentality. I was very happy to see a more emotional side to her in this book, and I feel bad for her. (view spoiler)[She's being used by all the Brothers, which leaves her stuck on the other side, without a hope for having a life of her own like the other Chosen who go to Phury. She has a crush on a guy that doesn't want her, so she knows she'll never find love. She's in a bad spot, and the Brothers should've realized that sooner. I'm sure there's other Chosen they can feed from, everyone can pick a different one! (hide spoiler)]
Saxton: Now, please don't attack me here, I don't hate Saxton. I don't want him to stay with Blay but he's not a bad guy. (view spoiler)[I can tell he truly cares for Blay, he seems to make him feel good, he understands where Blay's heart is and is not trying to replace Qhuinn in Blay's feelings. He even confronted Qhuinn about it and told him to step up, be a man and take what's his. It's not his fault that Qhuinn has issues. And I hope that while he's with Blay he makes him happy, Blay deserves it. (hide spoiler)]
Blay: Even though we don't see much of him, I can tell he's torn, happy in a sense, but torn. (view spoiler)[When we realize at the end that the day when Qhuinn came in after having sex with the redhead, Blay knew he had sex with a man... so sad. He keeps feeling that Qhuinn will have sex with anyone but him. (hide spoiler)]
Qhuinn: I was devastated from the first time he shows up in this book until the last. Actually, he's the one that made me cry like a baby! WOW! (view spoiler)[There's no words to express the total heartbreak over losing Blay, realizing he loved him, admitting he loved him. No, he wasn't Blay's first. It all got taken away from him in a way, and he has nothing left at the moment but fighting. Why oh why Qhuinn did you take you piercings off and shave your head?!?!!? Qhuinn, come back to us! We love you. You can get past all those issues! The thing with the redhead.... broke my heart. The talk with Layla... broke my heart, the balcony scene... broke my heart. The vision about the little girl that looks like Layla with Qhuinn's eyes.... PLEASE DON'T LET IT BE THAT HE'LL GET HER PREGNANT. I might just stop reading the series if that happens. I need to read their story soon because I don't think I can take much more heartache about these two! They belong together! And when they finally do get together, please don't cheat us out of what we want to see!!!! FIREWORKS!!!(hide spoiler)]
Even though it's not my favorite BDB book so far, it's definitely one of the most emotional ones. I like that Ms. Ward is not scared to show that even though these couples are mated, that doesn't mean there aren't issues with every day life. It keep things real and in perspective, and they have to constantly work on things.
I loved every minute of this book. Maybe it should've been a bit longer so we could've gotten more of Manny and Payne because they were amazing! But I can't WAIT now for the next book. Dear Ms. Kane,
I finished reading City of Ghosts and I'm utterly speechless. This is one of my favorite books this year. I'll be honest with you and say that after I read book one I wasn't totally sold on the idea of a heroine with a drug problem, among her other issues.
After following Chess stumble across her life through the past three books all I can say is it takes a truly talented author to bring out so much emotion and the depth of connection that you've managed to achieve with your series. Downside Ghosts is dark and gritty, full of action, bad guys, tough situations and no easy way out.
City of Ghosts was a rough emotional ride for me especially with all the edge-of-your-seat action, heart-pounding, mouth-gaping, jaw-clenching moments, raw passion, thigh-clenching and shows a vulnerable side to all the characters. A lot of what made this book so amazing was the relationship between Terrible and Chess. First of all I can't say enough how amazed I am at the awesomeness that is Terrible. I just want him. And they both battled a lot of issues in this book. I suffered right along with both. I had no sides. They were both wrong, they were both right, and they both broke my heart. And they were smutty-good!
Another great thing about this book was the storyline. Nothing went as I thought it would. Well, with the exception that I always suspected of the certain someone that wasn't revealed until the end. Other than that I was left gaping at every turn and just thinking "Damn, would something just go the right way for once? Please!!!".
At the end of the day, this book had it all! I am even more in love with Terrible, I like Chess a lot, even though she still pops her pills. And I actually liked Lex ('cuz you know I wasn't such a big fan of his in the other books and you know why).
But could I ask you a huge favor? Could you write faster? I really don't want to have to wait until March now for the next book! I may sound like Chess now looking for a fix.
"You know I do, aye? Love you right, Chessiebomb."
Truly an amazing story! After the ending of Fifty Shades of Grey I HAD to rush and read book 2. I had to know what happened next between Grey and Ana, and I had so many unanswered questions about the mysterious Christian Grey. And Fifty Shades Darker answered a lot of them!
I think what shocked me the most was Christian attitude and personality change in this book. He has to be one of my favorite characters. He's so complex, and reading this book is like peeling a layer at a time. In not so many words, he is a very fucked up individual because of his past and circumstances, but he has pushed through, become successful and in this book he faces his biggest obstacle yet.
When Ana leaves him he realizes that he's in love with her. And this is such an intense emotion for him, she truly is his rock and his anchor. In order to keep her he has to change how he's been used to treating women and relationships, and how he sees himself.
And I gotta tell you, to have a mans' attentions focused on you so intently like Christian shows Ana, you can't help but being jealous. Yes, there, I said it! I WAS JEALOUS READING THIS BOOK. Jealous of any girl who looked at my Fifty, jealous of Ana because of course I could do better if I had him. Just plain jealous. I want him!
The plot in this book is a bit more light than book one, there's a lot of revelations about Christians' past, a lot of them pretty messed up. There's also some intrigue and drama, nosy exes, crazy stalkers and pushy bosses.
One of my complaints from book one was the style of writing, and I don't know if it changed in this book, I really wouldn't say it did, but it did not bother me at all. Maybe I was used to it now, but it didn't interfere with my reading! Does that even make sense?
And of course we can't talk about Fifty and not talk about sex. There's a lot of sex in this book. On a boat, elevator, pool table, on top of a piano. Very very creative. In book one I mentioned that it didn't come across as hot because of the way the scenes were written. That is still the case up to a point for me. However, I have such a connection to Fifty now that even if he looks at Ana a certain way I think it's sexy.
I think Ms. James has done such an amazing job with Christian's character! Ana is still a bit childish, and at times I wanted to slap her. Now of course she will the cause for any problems in the next book, because she wouldn't listen and use her damn Blackberry! *TWITCHY PALMS* But overall, I think for someone that young she's doing an amazing job with dealing with such an intense relationship.
Ana's inner goddess I thought was cute, but to be honest, I couldn't help but have this image of Jaz Sparks, UF heroine and assassin, popping up in my head. She was my first heroine with voices in her head with an attitude. So every time the inner goddess popped up looking up from her half-moon glasses or wearing her pink boa and fuck me shoes, I just pictured Jaz's teen or bimbo self. Still funny though.
Who else I thought was cute? Mia and Ethan! I want to read more about them and I hope they get their own book. I think they would be fun to read about. But I can't wait for the next book to come out! I'm looking forward to seeing Fifty and Ana try to use up all the surfaces on the apartment, the new house, the boat, there's still the car sex he promised her.... Ahhhh the choices!(less)

Sinead:n. Total bad ass chick. Sex demon, full time assassin, and the cause of the Apocalypse! My favorite heroine in this series!
I LOVED THIS BOOK! Even more the second time around. There was plenty of action, emotions, romance, steamy scenes and world-changing events.
Sin Fever is killing the warg population, except it's only affecting turned wargs, a little known fact discovered by our hot resident demon doctor Eidolon, and they are trying to keep quiet about it so they don't start a war between born and turned wargs.
Con is torn between having to fulfill a role in the dhampire council and is assigned the role of guinea pig to find a cure for Sin Fever. His body might be creating certain defenses by drinking her blood. But how much more of it can he have before he becomes addicted? And being in close proximity with Sin might be bad for his health. He had a taste of her, body and blood, and now that's all he can think of! All he wants. And isn't it just so convenient that while they are alone together, and he has to protect her, even from her own assassins, he also has to satisfy her demon urges.
Sin and Con will rock your world! They will have you excited, mad, panting, moaning and crying! This was such an emotional ride, and I never wanted it to end!
I'm soooo sad this is the last book in this series, even though there's a spinoff series... I'll miss everyone at Underworld General and all my favorite people! WAR was introduced a bit in this book, and the setup for the next series was laid out, and it all just sounds intriguing. Of course, you have to hate Sin sometimes, she got both hotties! Con AND War! Not fair!!!
One of my favorite series!!!!! Loved this book, there was plenty of action, emotion, romance, steamy scenes, and as always, you get such a good view into everyone's point of view to really be able to get into the whole Demonica World. I'm soooo sad this is the last book in this series, even though there's a spinoff series... I'm guessing we won't get to see too much of Underworld General and all my favorite people!!!!! Please keep them in some way in the next books!!!!! I love Larissa Ione's writing style, the humor put into the dialog. This was the best book in the series! And I LOVED the previous ones!
"Kiss me again without my permission," she whispered against his lips, "and I'll gouge you and sell your balls to a Ruthenian specialty meat shop. Understood?" "You won't do that." He whispered back. "You'd miss them too much." "Men are always overestimating the worth of their genitals."
"Yeah, I need sex or I die. so stop with the obnoxious chaperon shit because I really don't want you anywhere nearby while I'm doing it. And I don't think you want that either." Last year I wrote a sincere letter spilling my feelings. Now I have to confess that I wanted to punch you in the face when this book started and almost through the halfway mark. But I should also apologize because I should’ve never doubted how magnificent you are. The epitome of everything alpha male that I love and crave. You can be ruthless and you can be sweet. Scorching and yet oh so tender and romantic. But you are always YOU. Who would’ve thought I would fall more in love with you, yet here I am. Falling deeper in love with you. And having to share you with Leila. But it’s ok, she’s worthy of you and I can deal as long as I get Mr. Hot Hands to myself sometimes.
Your true lover,
The Night Prince series has more of paranormal romance feel for me than Ms. Frost’s Night Huntress. It is all about Vlad and Leila, how they work together, their romance grows, their powers expand and how they change for each other. Vlad took a turn for the worst in the beginning but I have to stay that throughout this series and even after falling in love, Ms. Frost has kept his character true to his self. He’s a badass, he’s dominating, he’s powerful, and things supposed to go as he wants.
Leila wants more from him than he seems willing to give so she decides to leave. There is still a big bad after Vlad and now they are going after his next weakest link, which is Leila. There’s suspense and action and an all too sexy vampire that steams up the pages with his personality, his anger and his sex appeal.
Through all this, I have to say Leila is a great heroine. She’s smart and cautious, but she’s strong enough to face things head on. She was again great in TWICE TEMPTED. She’s able to stand up to big tough old vampires as well as her own family. She follows her heart and protects who she loves. I give her a great 5 stars for being such a memorable heroine and not letting herself be overshadowed by the greatness that is Vlad.
This was one of my favorite reads of this year, and not just because I’m crushing hard on Vlad. It was action packed, emotionally charged, and corchingly hot. What more could I ask for? Now I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I might’ve brought Vlad to his knees at last, but in so many ways, he would never bend. I knew that as surely as I knew I’d always love him, and it left me with only one answer.
“I dare because I want no misunderstand between us. I am everything you think I am, but I love your daughter, and what I love, I protect with all of the violence in me, which, as you’ve guessed, is considerable.”

For Nalini Singh’s tenth book of the Psy-Changeling series, we decided to do something special for this Kiss of Snow review. Since we are all big fans of his series, we decided to write a “review” as an IM transcript. Please note that what you read below is actually a real conversation between Francesca and I and that the opinions expressed here are our own and events that take place did in fact happen.
We hope you enjoy and let us know in the comments if you would like to see more reviews written in this type of format! We’d love to hear your thoughts! On to KISS OF SNOW:
Francesca: I think we need to give a warning to anyone that will read this book!
Annie: Okay, like this? WARNING! This book is so addictive, so sexy that you’ll need an extra change of panties (or two)!! Will require a day’s rest after reading the orgasmic alpha that is Hawke! Bring your gush bucket! You mean like that?
Annie: And a defibulator for when your heart stops beating at Hawke’s sexy words!!
Francesca: Exactly! YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED!! OK, so I think we can start with our fangirl crush. How excited are we to finally have Hawke's book?!?!?!
Annie: Hawke! Hawke! Hawkee!!!! Hawke has been a favourite of mine every since he flirted with the DarkRiver alpha's mate, Sascha.
Francesca: Mine too. I feel like I've waited forever to read his story! Did you always want his mate to be Sienna?
Annie: Hawke has had my heart since the beginning. And NO, I wanted to be his mate. But if there had to be someone, then yes, Sienna was always the one for him. There was no doubt about that. How do you feel about the age difference between Hawke and Sienna?
Francesca: They've been tip-toeing around each other since Hawke took the Laurens' in, and as long as they waited for her to be adult, the age difference was never an issue for me. However I think it was addressed and dealt with perfectly in this book. My only problem with the age difference...We get 50% of what Hawke could've been. What about the romance and all the sexual tension?
Annie: I think the romance starts off from the very beginning. They have great chemistry. They just haven't acted upon it yet, you know?
Francesca: I agree. The build up is actually PERFECT. I like that he's not jumping her every time she offers. LOL
Annie: She's scared of him. He's a sexually potent guy and in addition, he's alpha. She's young too. Plus a Psy.
Francesca: What was your take on Sienna's development in character? From previous appearances in other books and her actions/decisions in this book?
Annie: I thinks she has come a long way. I didn't think I'd like her much. I don't LOVE her, but I don't hate her either. I think....I'm jealous mostly.
Francesca: I'm jealous too, but I'm just a little disappointed that Hawke is not getting the hot book from cover to cover I was expecting, he has to contain himself because he's afraid of scaring her.
Annie: It's not as hot as I thought it would be. But I knew there would be lots of sexual tension and there's plenty of that. I like that Sienna knows she wants Hawke despite her "younger" status. Hawke is infuriating, I love it when he gets angry!
Francesca: Hawke is just TOO SENSUAL, TOO DECADENT, TOO SEXY. I'm a puddle at his feet right now! He can do with me as he pleases
Annie: That's so true! I wouldn't change Hawke given the chance. I thought he was so sexy, so irresistible, I couldn't get enough of him! (Cue the swooning, please) And what about the sex scenes? Yeah?
Francesca: Hawke is a SEX GOD!
Annie: Lots of groans and "Ohh my GOD!!!" moments for me. I had to take frequent breaks to control myself.
Francesca: He's soooo alpha. I was literally panting through the last 25% of the book.
Annie: Gah! Yes! The ending was... wow! I have no words. Beyond anything I could conjure up myself. Action-packed is an understatement. I know you're a big fan of Riley and Drew as well, after reading this... who's your man now?
Francesca: That's a tough question. Can I just keep all 4??? You forgot to include my man Judd in there! You know, something I loved about this book is how we still get to see Judd, Riley and Drew involved in the storyline.
Annie: How would I forget sexy Judd?! And I won't judge if you want them all! I'd do the same! Speaking of others in the storyline... What did you think of Sascha?
Francesca: She was a bit different in this one. I liked how they're slowly showing us her relationship with Nikita developing and maybe even unfolding things that could've been in the past. Nikita may have a heart after all! I think she loved Sascha from the beginning and was protecting her. And what about Lucas?
Annie: I liked Lucas's protectiveness in this one. Loved that he would do anything to protect his woman and child. It was endearing and hot, showing that animalistic side that I don't think we always witness with the level-headed alpha. Okay, if Lucas and Hawke were dueling it out, who do you think would win?
Francesca: Definitely Hawke!!! I personally think he is a tougher alpha, at least from what we saw in this book.
Annie: Hawke was amazing!
Francesca: I'm curious to see what you thought of the Psy in this one!
Annie: Is it just me or don't the Psy seem more dead and emotionless than they did in previous books? So devoid of anything. Creeps me the hell out.
Francesca: Yeah I agree. Pure Psy and Ming are getting very bad!! But the arrows have some feeling!
Annie: I'm very interested to see how that plays out! My mind is still trying to wrap my brain around who the ghost is.
Francesca: I was pretty sure it was Kaleb before. And I'm still 70% - 75% on Kaleb, but after this book, Vasic is starting to look like another likely possibility. But I just want Kaleb to get a book!
Annie: What about Walker and Lara? Aren't they so sweet together?
Francesca: Lara and Walker were such a nice addition to this book. I thought they were getting their own book before, but I think their story kept the sexual tension going! Loved it! Walker is so strong and sweet and loyal. I loved to see him caring for Lara all the time.
Annie: They had their own bit of tension going on themselves. I loved it! It felt like an added bonus to an already sexy book. Who do you think should get their own book?
Francesca: RIAZ!!!!!! Right now I'm liking his character the most. Mysterious and sexy! So maybe Riaz and Jem??? What do we think about that? I want Riaz to get a mate! LOL He seems so intense. Have we seen Jem before? And after giving him some time to grow up more, I think Kit will have a really hot book.
Annie: LOL! Yes yes! I want more of both!
Francesca: Which brings me to my next question... We met a lot of young wolves, who did you like best?
Annie: Hmm Tai. Kid’s growing up quick!
Francesca: I think Evie (Indigo's sister) sounds like a really cool character. I hope she gets a story even if she doesn't end up with Tai.
Annie: Even if they don't end up together, I would still want to read about them.
Francesca: I also liked that we get to see the dynamics of the SnowDancers as a pack. The strategy, the meetings, the caring for each other...
Annie: Sooo....Team DarkRiver or Team SnowDancer?
Francesca: You should know my answer to that! SNOWDANCER.
Annie: Ok ok I did know that. Me? I'm Team Changeling! LOL I can’t decide!
Francesca: I’m laughing my ass off now. Apparently my boyfriend has our convo on HIS phone somehow and he just told me that there’s this Annie girl texting him about some Lucas dude.
Francesca: He says we’re both retarded! Then he started laughing, LOL!
Annie: This is so embarrassing! Omg, tell him I’m sorry. Next time I text him, I’ll talk about a chick instead, LOL!
Francesca: Okay, he said he’ll respond to that and you can be his secret lover!
Annie: LOL, you got it baby! I wonder what he thought about the gush bucket comment. Never mind. I don’t want to further embarrass myself.
Francesca: OMG I can't stop laughing! Alright, so I have one last question for you... Is it just me being extremely weird, but I have a thing for the RAT, Teijan, what about you?
Annie: Me too!!! Maybe he'll get a book soon? What do you girls think about him? Tell us in the comments!
Francesca: Well, I think we're done! And I'm still Team SnowDancer. What team are you on? VOTE BELOW!!!!
"How was dessert?" she asked, her throat a husky reminder that she'd screamed at the end. A flash of teeth. "I plan to go back for seconds in a bit." She sucked in a breath. "Bad wolf." Sliding down his hand, he tugged at her damp curls. "Hungry wolf."
Her heart, her damned vulnerable heart, had been his from the day she understood what it was he incited against him. She had no true shields against him. Never had. Never would.(less)

I was so excited to get this book, and start reading it as soon as it came out! I've been on Cat & Bones withdrawals because the 4th book in the series was a bit mehh, and then we got 2 books in the Night Huntress World spin-off, and I was not so happy with Spade's, and I did liked Mencheres.
But here we are back with Cat & Bones.... Ahhhh... Opening scene... LOVED IT! I wouldn't mind having him shackled to a cave wall! After that though it started going really slow for me.
The story was ok enough, but it wasn't GREAT. I had really high expectations for this book, and didn't feel like it met them 100%, even though it was a good book (I did rate it 4 stars!) I mainly feel like Cat lost some of her spark and spunk from the beginning of the series, and she didn't feel like she was as confident. And although she was funny at times, sometimes she got a little on my nerves. And that's not good since we're getting the story from her POV.
Bones was amazing in this book however! OMG! I'm in love with him, he can do no wrong! His connection to Cat felt rekindled in this book where it was a bit lacking in the last NH book. And yeah, of course, that brings up the elephant in the room... Chapter 21!!!! I knew before hand from comments on GR to watch out for that chapter, so I paid extra attention, I might've read it twice ;) It was HOT, YOWZA, INTENSE and did I mention REALLY HOT? It has been compared to Chapter 32 of One Foot in the Grave, and I'll agree it gives it a run for the money. It all depends on your preferences. I actually went back and re-read Chapter 32 after finishing this book to be able to compare with a fresh image. There's a lot of biting involved in both, except OFITG was Bones doing the biting, in TSOTG was Cat. But biting aside, I think this book gives us a little bit more intense view of what else they were doing aside from all the biting ;) And I loved seeing Bones lose control! Enough said!
One of my favorite lines in the book is from Bones, when he tells Timmy to ask what he wants about vampires but then he says "If you ask me if I sparkle I'll kill you" LMAO!
Vlad... where do I start... He's the best! He had the best lines in the book ("Premature inflammation! Very embarrassing, I don't like to talk about it!" Come on! I was ROTFLMAO) There was plenty of him in this book and I still want more!
Mencheres... 2 things.... 1 - Him having sex with Kira while Bones and Cat where waiting to see and could hear him... LOL 2 - The shorts and t-shirt at the airport?!?!? That I would have to see!
Ian... Not enough of him in this one. I would love to see his character developed a bit more, I know he has to mature before he can get his own book but he has the potential. And I couldn't believe his comment about Veritas... I always picture her as a kid! Even though she's old as dirt.
The twist at the end.... I could've used at least one more page after the last word!!!! WHAT?!?!?!?!? I'm dying to read the next book and see what the hell happened there!!!!!(less)

I'll admit I went into reading this book disliking Sebastian. Not for his womanizing ways, but for what he did at the end of It Happened One Autumn. I loved him throughout that book and then my little fantasy fell. So it took me a little while to warm up to him, even though I thought the story in this book was excellent from page.
The endearing Evangeline Jenner gets some confidence and asks Sebastian to marry her, of course as a convenience marriage. She wants to get married to be free of her family and he wants the money she will inherit from her dying father. She will only agree to have sex with him once to make the marriage official.
They quickly elope so her family can't stop them, and they have a scottish wedding. Upon their return, Evie immediately wants to go see her father at the club he owns, and finds him gravely ill as she suspected. But to her surprise, Sebastian decides to stay and manage the club. She never would've thought of him as the type of man to work, but he obviously has a passion for this and is good at it.
I LOVED watching Sebastian change, or maybe not so much change but realize that the way he thought he was was not enteriely accurate. He does care for people, he is capable of love, he cherishes his friends and respects those who deserve it.
And above all, he understands that he wants no one other than Evangeline with him for the rest of his life. And this takes him by surprise. The eternal man-whore, who thought he could never bed a woman more than once, and had never been with a nice girl, has fallen head over heels for the shy Evie.
And on a quick side note... Cam and Daisy, just RAWR! That kiss he kinda stole from her made my toes curl and I can't wait to read their book! Sometimes a girl just needs a rough gipsy instead of a refined gentleman with spectacles.(less)

This is a good, solid paranormal romance but I'm not sure if my feelings toward this book are from the expectations or that it was just ok. Don't get me wrong, I do like the story, I like the world, and I LOVE DRAGOS.
Yeah, let's talk about Dragos. He's basically head honcho, all power, charisma, and GC sex appeal. And he's also a dragon! And what a smoking hot dragon he is. Verra verra talented that one. *fans self*
All the elder races politics, and all the different races in this story, make it a very interesting read. Pia's powers are cool, and the plot in this book was really good. At times it reminded me a bit of the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh.
However, and please don't throw things at me... I didn't like Pia. Well, I liked her but I couldn't stand her 80% of the time. She kinda ruined the story for me. Her personality was just annoying! Just a personal opinion.
I am looking forward to Tiago's story. He was such a brooding alpha male character in the little bit we saw of him in this book, and Tricks is just plain crazy! I really liked her! Can't wait to read it!(less)

The story was very well written and I thought the characters were likable. I felt it had an X-Men feel to it, which I loved and I could see developing more in the next books.
The connection between Remy and Haley was very sweet, and I buy into the whole soul mates thing, I think that's so cute and romantic how they find each other, so I had no issue with the lack of time they had to build a relationship. I could feel Remy's pain at not knowing how to control his "gift", how it had affected his life, and the possibilities that lay ahead.
I also LOVED Creed and Annika (secondary characters)! I could tell their attraction had been brewing for a while now and it's all starting to come out now! It was great to see that they also got enough time out of the story even though they weren't the main characters and I was really excited when I got to read more about them. Those two have excellent chemistry also, and I hope they get their HEA.
The third story that gets a bit of pages is Dev's. He's the Director of ACRO, has had a tormented and difficult life, even physically challenging. I wasn't expecting the twist of him being in love with Oz, who we read about but don't get to meet in this book. But it does sound at the end that he could, at one point, have to call him in. I wouldn't mind reading more about that either.
The only warning that should come with this book however is: This is Erotica Paranormal. There's A LOT of HOT, I repeat, REALLY HOT sex. You will probably have to put this book down just to go take cold shower, or make sure you have something close by to fan yourself. It's that hot, and that often! So, if that's not your thing, stay away from this book. But, in my opinion it was written in excellent taste, and refreshingly creative!
I've had this on my TBR for a while and I'm glad Valorie recommended this for a challenge! I'm officially hooked!(less)

OK, so now that I got that out of the way... Kaderin is a valkyrie and she's been "cursed" with not being able to feel for a thousand years, since the death of her sisters, who were killed by a vampire. She is tough (as all valkyrie are), loves and lives for killing vampires and for the Hie (like the Amazing Race). That whole concept was new and interesting. Kaderin always enters (and wins) this race and this year is no different. Well, except for the fact that before it starts she hears of a vampire in a castle and goes there to slay him, but realizes that she can't. She is his Bride, and because of him, after so long, she starts to feel again. She in turn wakes him from years of misery.
Sebastian is Nikolai Wroth's brother. He was turned by Nikolai against his will and has hated being a vampire during his whole existence. He just wishes for final death. And Kaderin is the one supposed to bring it to him, which he is fine with, until he realizes she's His. The one for him. His Bride. And he will do anything to have her, protect her, cherish her, and live eternity with her.
While Kaderin has to compete in the Hie, Sebastian enters as well, with the intention of wining for her. The prize seems to be something she wants above all other things. A key to go back in time twice. He doesn't think it could work, and he doesn't know why she wants to get it, but he is determined to help her or win it for her. They have some competition, and some tough competition in the form of Bowen, the lykae who we met in the previous book, and who wants the key to go back in time and rescue his dead mate.
There a lot of action, intrigue, and some pretty amazing sexual tension and eventually, yes, sex. And even though Sebastian is not a virgin, he's not the most experienced in that department so it's up to Kaderin to teach him, which he learns quickly, and to be his first in many things.
Their relationship develops perfectly. It's not the "I'm in love" at first sight, their love develops from constantly being together, liking each other, their company, their support. Even though there were no major events in the overall world for this series, this was an excellent book and I'll be looking forward to reading the next one soon!(less)

I feel like I've waited forever to read Alex's story!!! I loved his character in Tempted, I fell in love with him, flaws and all, and I wanted to see him get his HEA. This was a great story all around by Ms. Hart, even though not as emotionally draining perhaps as I was expecting from her.
Alex Kennedy... where do I start? He is a tormented bad boy, he's struggled with who he was, with his family and how they view him, how he interacts with others, and his sexuality his whole life.
Olivia has struggled with her life for a while now as well. She is a black woman, adopted by white parents, who are now divorced. Her relationship with her fiance, Patrick, ended when she found out he was gay. But they've managed to still stay friends, even though she still has feelings for him. Does that just make her pathetic to be around him when he's out with other guys? Maybe. But she still attends a party at his house. Except at the party she only has eyes for Patrick's new friend Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome, Alex Kennedy himself... Who is he? Patrick tells her to stay away from Alex, but the sex appeal that comes off him in waves calls to her. And it doesn't help that she actually finds him with a guy in the porch getting a blow job, and looking sexy as hell. She wants to be the one on her knees for him and the one to bring him pleasure.
Turns out he needs a place to live while staying in town for business, and she has a room she can rent! So he moves right in! Their relationship slowly develops. Her history with being with a guy who liked other guys may have hurt her, and she should stay away, but Alex is a complete flirt and seduces her.
I absolutely loved all the sexy scenes with the camera. She's a photographer/web designer, and when she gets him to pose for her in her "office/studio" was SOOOO HOT.
I think Olivia is actually a good match for Alex. I think Ms. Hart always manages to write about very touchy subjects and do it perfectly. In this story we deal with Alex still not being 100% sure about his sexuality and what he wants, and how Olivia will deal with it. At the same time, the social pressures faced by an interracial couple.
I had a problem with how James and Ann were approached in this story. I didn't like the fact that Alex hadn't come clean to Olivia about his relationship with both of them and his feelings for both of them before bringing her to their house and she had to figure it out on her own. Not cool Alex! And then he goes and acts like a moron when he's around James!
The whole drama with Alex's family was heart breaking and hard. I do think, as a lot of other reviewers have said, that the ending was a bit abrupt, it seemed like we were missing at least a chapter! It leaves you wondering if there really could be a Happily Ever After for them. There are still a lot of unresolved issues for both of them personally, and as a couple.
"It's okay to struggle to find our place in this world and the person who will take us for who and what we are. Sometimes we dress ourselves in layers that only get peeled away in the end, to leave us as we should be."
As always, a wonderful book by Megan Hart. I waited forever for Alex's story, I loved his character in Tempted and wanted him to have a HEA. Olivia is a great character, and a good match for him. I do think, as a lot of other reviewers have said, that the ending was a bit abrupt, it seemed like we were missing some 20 pages! But I think with all the topics that had to be discussed, Ms. Hart did it wonderfully. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that Alex hadn't come clean to Olivia and she had to figure it out on her own. Not as emotionally draining as all of Ms. Hart's books, but def emotional! As always, GREAT BOOK! (less)
I am so sad to see this series end. It really doesn't have to! There are still so many stories that they could create! Please, please, please! Or maybe write a spin-off series??? Something!! That's the end of my fangirl moment.
Taken by Fire is mainly the story of Stryker. He has such a cool power, he can affect basically earth, so watch out you don't piss him off or you may cause an earthquake! He is assigned to kill Melanie/Phoebe, the chick with two personalities that killed Akbar in the forest at the end of the last book. He watched as his friend burned in front of him, so this mission is personal for him. He wants to squeeze the life out of her!
Except once he finds her she explains to him about her dual personality. Can he believe her? There are actually two people living inside her body thanks to an Itor experiment, Phoebe is the bad one, and Melanie is the good one. Phoebe is out most of the time and has abused Melanie for a long time. Phoebe is the Itor agent, Melanie doesn't know anything. They each have a different power, Phoebe is fire, Melanie is ice. And yes, they find out that she's Alek's daughter (head of Itor), which of course makes Dev change his plans and decide to just bring her in, not kill her. (view spoiler)[She is his sister after all. (hide spoiler)]
She needs sex to recharge her powers and when they find themselves in a situation where he needs her to get them out of a bind, he is the only choice for sex. After that first time, which was rough, she admits that even though her body might've not been, she was actually a virgin, and yes, Oz's prediction comes back to mind "You will marry a virgin."
He quickly starts developing feelings for Melanie, and after those first few rushed times, which were still pretty hot, there's more of a connection between them. Can I just say that even though this book was just a tad less creative in the sex department, at least with the main characters, they still had some hot scenes. They joined the mile high club and almost brought down the plane with both their powers; the back of an SUV after playing and training with her powers; he sits down at the kitchen table to have dessert *THUD*
So yeah, I liked the main characters in this one. I felt bad for Melanie, I hated Phoebe she was a total bitch! And let me warn you, Phoebe does get a little rough and there might be some scenes where you can't believe they went that far with what she was allowed to do, but that was still ok with me.
Now let me get to my favorite characters of ACRO. In every book, Creed&Annika and Dev&Gabe&Oz were also reason enough for me to keep reading. Their side storylines are amazing in my opinion. I did feel a lack of Creed and Annika in this book, we didn't get a lot of time with them and I missed them. Annika is pregnant, Creed is stressing out about Oz's vision that she would die if she has his child, Annika is pissed at Stryker for sleeping with Akbar's killer. But we didn't see a lot of Creed/Annika time.
Dev... He was my favorite character in this book! He is so intense, emotionally raw and devastatingly hot! Gabe is actually more the romantic and wants more from Dev than a booty call. Dev has to learn to cope with that and to give Gabe what he needs while still dealing with the takedown of Itor and his newly found sister(s) in ACRO's custody. Some of the best sex, and almost sex scenes in this book are Dev & Gabe's. Oh.My.Gawd!!!!!! HAWT! That's all I got to say. You have to read it! And yes, there is a threesome in this one! Oz gets to have a body for just one night!!!! *THUD*
The last two or three chapters of this book had me in tears... constantly. I cried for everyone! I'm tearing up again now. It seemed like there would be no resolutions or happy endings for anybody, and my heart was breaking. It was a great ending! Full of emotion, full of action. The ACRO family is all there. But I still don't want it to end! I can't let go!
"I'd miss my own crowning to be the King of England to be with you." - Stryker
Because he's yours, Oz whispered in his ear, even though he remained where Gabe could see him across the room. Always was - I just kept him safe for you.
"We're all a bunch of goddamned heroes." - Stryker
"You be safe out there, Gabriel. You hear me?" "Yeah, I hear you. I think I finally fucking hear you," Gabe whispered in his ear. "When I finish, I'm going to fuck you into the mattress."["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

I will admit that I was getting a bit annoyed at Indigo at times, and wished that she chased after him a bit too, but it all worked out great in the end. And of course, I kept waiting for the glimpses of Hawke and Sienna, I think the next book has been set up perfectly! There's no doubt in my mind now that Sienna will the Hawke's mate (which makes me so happy, it couldn't be any other way) but also there's a great plot to develop.(less)

Aisling is such a fun heroine. She reminds me a bit of Stephanie Plum. She's kinda clueless at the beginning, gets sucked into a paranormal world she had no idea existed, and she had always been a part of.
I enjoyed the storyline a lot, it was very different. And for someone not used to reading books about dragons, I loved this one. It may have something to do with the extremely delicious green dragon Drake. He is sexy!
But, the book wouldn't be the same without Aisling's sidekick. A demon she summons, better known as Jim! I LOVE JIM! I want my own Jim, and I want a book of Jim quotes!
This book had me laughing out loud literally so many times people were giving me weird looks and probably thought I had mental issues.
Excellent start and I'll be reading the next book soon! Can't wait!(less)

Hot rock stars? Check. Tats? Check. Sexy piercings? Check. A panty-melting smile? Check. We fell in love with Ms. Cunning Sinners on Tour and we finally have a new book by her again. But oh the tease! Yes, this is a short story. And this is a completely different band. But do you see me complaining? Well, maybe just the fact that I wanted more, more, more!
Gabe, aka Force, is the drummer of Sole Regret. And sometimes he is just too tired to deal with the groupies they have hanging around after a concert. But one girl catches his eye. And she looks nothing like a groupie, especially when she says no to lead singer Shade.
Melanie had pretty much been dragged there by her friend Nikki, who is a groupie and who just wants to nail Shade. Tats and piercings scare her, she never though she would go for a guy like these rockstars until she stumbles across Gabe. And then holy hell sparks starts going off like Fourth of July between them.
This is the perfect little read to heat up a summer afternoon ;) Be sure to check this one out and be like me... on the lookout for the next Sole Regret fix!
"He never questioned his little head's instincts. His dick has excellent taste."
"She'd known a few cock teases in her life, but she'd never met a pussy tease before."
"He dove under the covers, delighting in the sound of her laugh as he cupped her breasts in both hands and kissed her flat belly."(less)

Five things to do when a new Wicked Lovers book comes in the mail: *Squeeeeeee in excitement *Do a happy dance clutching the package *Jump up and down not caring if I fall on my face *Open it berry berry carefully *Say bye bye night night to the world to settle in with my precious
I will confess I've had a crush on Tyler for years. From the moment he showed his face as the sexy and carefree bouncer at Alyssa's strip club he had my full attention. Even though he was not lucky to get the girl he "apparently" wanted. See I thought all along that was me.
"Welcome to the real me. When you were married to Eric, you saw the pal, the prankster. You saw the guy who didn't take much seriously because I didn't have anything to be serious about. I still want to have fun, but when it comes to you, I'm serious as a fucking heart attack."
*THUD* Ms. Black gave Tyler a perfect story! MINE TO HOLD was everything I expected for him and then some. The story was romantic, suspenseful, action-packed...climaxed-packed....Is that even a word? It should be and if it isn't then Tyler invented it. I might've renamed him Tyler "Mr. 5+ Orgasm" Murphy.
Tyler wasn't about to slow down. Her orgasm didn't pacify him at all. If anything, it revved him up more... "Again," he demanded.
In his life back in LA, Tyler had a best friend and partner, Eric. Things happened and Eric one drunk night asked Tyler to have sex with his wife while he watched. And see, Tyler had been sort of falling in love with Delaney for a while now. He latched on that one opportunity he would have to have her. And he gave it his all. He wanted to crawl inside of her. And somehow all that emotion showed and his buddy threw him out. Now almost two years later, Delaney shows up in Lafayette, on his doorstep, needing his help and oh.. by the way, they have a baby together!
As a journalist who is trying to get that big story to start her career she stumbled across some corrupt politician who now wants to silence her. The only way she can save herself and her baby is by getting the proof she needs to expose him. And Tyler won't let her go back to LA alone.
Tyler is as take charge as I expected him to be, very alpha. But he also shows that he trusts Del and gives her the space she needs to feel independent and get her job done. But never without help and protection. Thank God a heroine with common sense! I really liked Delaney!
I was expecting a little something extra with these two which never came. After Tyler has been around all his BDSM, menagerie and kinky fuckery I was a surprised when he was pretty much vanilla...very, very good vanilla though. Maybe with some chocolate swirls. I guess I shouldn't complain about Mr. 5+ Orgasm Murphy. And the other thing I was a bit upset at him for was how easy he disappeared from Delaney's life. Yeah, I know she was married to his best friend, but he should've at least stuck around for a bit if he had those feelings for her instead of running.
Onto the rest of the crew. There was a good amount of all our favorite characters from the series, past and future. Jack and Deke and Luc and their wives. Seems like everyone has babies running around, that just makes me so happy!
But I was especially happy to see a lot of Xander. Ah yes, I can't wait for his book. He's a playboy, he thinks he's all tough and I can't wait to see the woman that will bring him to his knees. Or the other way around. I don't mind volunteering. Don't worry Logan, you are still number one in my heart.
"It's always you for me. From the first minute I touched you, it was always you. Every other day and every other minute, I was marking time. No one else ever meant a damn thing. But you haunted me. The moment you knocked on my door in Lafayette, you sealed your fate. There's no way I'm letting you get away from me."
MINE TO HOLD was romantic and sweet, while having a great plot and steaming up the pages. Shayla does it again!
Five things to do when you finish a Wicked Lovers book: *Cry and scream inconsolably because this story is over. *Cry and scream inconsolably because you have to wait another year for the next book. *Start writing a hate email about having to wait a year for the next book *Delete said email and write a really fangirlish letter to the author telling her how much you love her *Try to convince her that I would make the perfect heroine for Xander's book.

Riley Poe is pretty kick ass! She has turned her life around and gone from being a junkie and being completely in with the wrong crowd and doing the wrong things, to going to college, owning a tattoo shop and being a well known artist in Savannah. This in big part thanks to Preacher and his wife who took her and her brother Seth in and helped her along just a bit so she could find her way after her mother was killed.
The premise for this book is Riley's brother, Seth and his buddies apparently release two brother vampires who were captured centuries ago. While doing that these vampires make the teenagers into their minions, and they slowly begin a transformation to becoming vampires which will be complete when they make their first kill in about a month's time.
Riley never knew these creatures of the Afterlight existed but as she sees the changes in her brother and worries about him, Preacher takes her to meet the Dupres. The local family of vampires, who centuries ago made a pact with the locals they wouldn't drink from a human or harm a human as long as they were supplied blood by other means (i.e. blood bank bags). Preacher also confesses that she has a rare blood type, which is like a magnet and a drug to vampires, and that he has been giving her special herbs her whole life to mask that blood so no vampires would be attracted to her and killer her.
The Dupres assign their oldest son Eli to watch over Riley while she helps them infiltrate in Savannah's underground, which she used to be a part of, in order to recapture these two rogue vampires before the full moon so that her brother can be saved and not turned.
Except the magnetism and attraction Eli and Riley feel for each other has nothing to do with her blood and everything to do with her.
It took a while for me to get into this book. I had a bit of an issue with all "Twilight" type references. I felt like I was reading an adult (and at times, very adult, much to my liking) version of the Twilight book. To list a few: - Riley's blood being a drug to vampires, which they can scent and have to show a lot of restraint not to drink from her. - The pact between the Dupres and the locals and if they were to bite anyone (even Riley, and no, biting doesn't automatically change them into vampires) they would break the pact and they would be executed. - Josie is the weird, quirky younger sister, and her personality, comments, actions are almost too much like Alice. Almost the whole Dupre family could be characterized with the Cullens. - The ending still leaves us with Riley being wanted by one of the bad vampires and he's coming back for her. Sounded too much like Victoria.
All of that aside, I will read the second book in this trilogy, I want to see where the story goes from here. This could've been a much better story had the author worked out all the similarities and just made up some other ways to fill in those details, since those things didn't really make the story. My rating might've been different then as the book and the story were not too bad after about halfway through, and I really like the hero and heroine. (less)

I love the way Ms. Ione thinks, develops and writes her stories. She is truly great at making us feel as if we are in this wonderful world she creates.
Being a dedicated fan, and having read all her previous work, I am not disappointed with this one! Her style is still all over the pages of Eternal Rider, and I am so excited to be back, in a way, in the Demonica world.
Demonica If you thought you would never see your favorite demons/angels/vampires again, you were wrong! It could be because this book involved one my favorite characters, Kynan, quite a bit in the new story; or maybe because we get to see Gem being pregnant and giving birth; or maybe the fact that our sexy demon doctor and paramedic are still around. I loved every single glimpse of the original Demonica characters, and I'm happy to say that if you wanted to keep reading about them, this book feels almost as if the series is still going. Even though I understand they might not be as big a part in future books.
"Your mom is my sunset, and you are my dawn." - Kynan
Another character from Demonica, Runa's brother Arik, also makes a substantial guest appearance. Can I just say... yum!
"Some scholars, including myself, think that the Horsemen's Seals will be broken by Jesus himself, and the Horsemen will lead the way into the end of days, but that's not necessarily a bad thing." "Of course not," Arik drawled. "Every Apocalypse if a party. Bring your own beer, pretzels, and semiautomatic weapons."
Onto the main characters, here's where I was a bit disappointed and didn't give this book a 5 star rating. I just thought Ares was an A$$ for most of the damn book! Argghhhhh I wanted to punch him half the time, he kept fighting his feelings for Cara. But, yes, he was sexy in his brooding ways, and all that leather.
"...and horror of horrors, he realized that he was experiencing some sort of a crush. He needed to kill something." - Ares
Cara was nice and funny. Even though I find most of the time the heroines in Ione's books not to be anything remarkable, she was likeable, and to put up with Mr. Grumpy she would have to be almost a saint. I loved their shower scene and the upside down tree scene and that's all I'm going to say.
"His hand sliced through the air in a silencing motion, and he stalked to the window. "Have you seen any rats?" Her mind spun at the sudden shift of subject. "Rats?" "Rodents that resemble large mice." "I know what rats are," she gritted out. "Why?" "They're spies." He peered through the curtain into the darkness. Thick fog diffused the yellow lamplight, creating an eerie glow on the street below. "Have you seen any?" Rodent spies? The man might be hot as hell, but he was a loon. As inconspicuously as possible, Cara inched toward the door. "I didn't see any furry little James Bonds."
BUT... I absolutely loved, and can't wait to read more about....Limos! OMG I can't wait for her book, she is amazing!!!! This is the first Ione heroine I can honestly say that I LOVE! I'm glad her book is next and we don't have to wait too long for it. Is it December already? And then of course, Thanatos... he's all bad boy, tattoed hotness, wrapped in a HAWT and LETHAL package. I.WANT.MORE!
"Eeeeeevil is wiiiiiining..." "They were so fucked his ass hurt"

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Wonderful debut by Amy Plum and the Revenants series. I felt completely transported into an elegant european world, filled with art, corner cafes where to read and enjoy a cappuccino and a croissant, while mixing in a very interesting group of undead characters!
Kate and her sister Georgia have to move from Brooklyn to Paris with their grandparents after the deaths of both their parents. Kate is only sixteen and finds the only way to cope with the tragedy and the move is to frequent the places she grew loving and visiting in their summer trips. Cafes where she can lose herself in a good book, art museums and galleries where she can get lost in a painting. And it's precisely at one of those places she meets a boy that takes her breath away. Vincent, dark, gorgeous, 19 year old. Or is he?
I think Kate is a wonderful character. She's a typical teenager dealing with all the normal issues. Then she meets Vincent and her whole world is turned upside down as she is dragged into a world she had no idea existed.
The Revenants are, in a way, undead or zombies?, but not really. They were humans who died in place of someone else, and from then, they have been dying to save others. I loved that concept! And when finding all this out I actually liked the fact that Kate doesn't throw caution to the wind right away to be with him. She wants to have a normal life.
Of course there's always a battle between good and evil which was pretty interesting. Even though the bad guy at the end was almost predictable, I still found the whole thing interesting and the twists we find out of what Vincent and Kate CAN be together are nice. And speaking of nice, what he did for her birthday.... SWOON.
The supporting characters are all endearing as well. Jules, Charlotte and Ambrose in particular. I actually liked her sister Georgia as well. You could tell she loved her sister even though she was dealing with their problems in a non-conventional way.
And now the few things I didn't totally love, just to keep it fair. I thought the grandparents had no control over what these two girls were doing. How can that be possible? You have 2 teenagers coming and going whenever they please, and doing as they like. Not good. And as I've seen a reference before to a similarity to Twilight, I will address that as well. The ONLY similarity this story can have with Twilight is that maybe the structure of the Revenants was a bit like the Cullen family. There's the elder that rules the crazy "teenagers", the lonely soul girl "Charlotte" which could be like Alice; the big, tough, flirty one "Ambrose" who could be an Emmett; Vincent obviously being Edward; I can't put my finger on Jules though, LOL. But that's as far as it goes. This book really is nothing like Twilight. So there, I just wanted to clarify.
And now... do I really have to wait until next year to read the next one??? (less)

It's taken me a while to get to read this, and I'm excited to see where Kate's story will go from here.
Ms. Andrews has created a completely different world involving shifters, magic, and some of the weirdest and most disgusting vampires I've ever read! It did take me a while to understand fully what was going on, but once I was able to follow the ins and outs of the story, I enjoyed it a lot.
Kate is actually pretty kick ass, but level-headed. She knows what she's doing, and I hope that in future books I keep enjoying her character! And the girl drinks Corona! LOL
And then there's sexy Curran.... "Here... kitty, kitty." He's a total bad-ass. I loved him. I also loved when he went to the same fancy restaurant where Kate was with her date with the doctor. RAWR *claws air* He's just hot, he's the toughest shifter, and he has a soft spot for Kate... He even helps her fix her roof! Awww
I am really excited to see where the storyline will go from here since at the end we get the perfect opening for her new job and role.(less)

Let me start by saying that this book scared the bejesus out of me! No, not all the time, but I did have to put it down for the night because it was not what I wanted to be reading at 1am while everything was dark and I was getting creeped out. LOL But I enjoyed every bit of it!
If you take ALMOST FAMOUS and you throw in a decent amount of QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, minus the vampires but keeping it paranormal, then you will get THE DEVIL’S METAL. And if there is one author out there that can pull that off and make me want to read it and like it, then that’s Karina Halle.
This is a unique story set in the 1970s of a young aspiring reporter and music reviewer who gets the chance of a lifetime… going on tour with her favorite band to write an article about them for Creem Magazine. It’s a tough world out there for a female journalist and this is the piece that will make her known. Of course, it helps she’s with the band.
Dawn is 21, her mother killed herself, her dad is an alcohol and her younger brother has Tourette Syndrome. To say she’s had a tough life is an understatement. She still has a great attitude and a lot of drive. The love interest in this story is the dark and brooding guitarist of Hybrid, Sage Knightly. I had an instant fascination with him but it wasn’t until closer to the end of the book that he started puling at the strings of my heart. And then there’s the band.
“We all lost our souls when we joined this band…… ”
The band has issues, and they don’t know it yet. I won’t tell you what the book is about because it was fun to be surprised and spooked along while reading it, but I will say this… Be careful what you wish you.
This book had a bit of everything. Crazy rockstar sex and drug antics, near death moments, creepy gross moments, and a whole lot of WTF?!?!? Karina Halle didn’t pull any punches and dug in. I’ve come to think of her books as MUST WATCH because, quite frankly, this would make a great horror movie!
The ending was not how I expected things to go down, and the twist (or would that be a cliffhanger) at the end was something I had seen coming for a little while. The clues were there, but it still doesn’t make sense to me. I just don’t think Dawn did the same as Sage, so how did she find herself in that position. But that’s a story for the next book to explain. :)
On a side note…
From the blurb…”The Devil’s Metal is the first book in a two-part New Adult Horror/Paranormal Romance and very (very!) loosely based on the author’s exploits as a music journalist. Hell comes in different forms.”
What? Seriously!? I just have to know which parts are the “loosely” based on…teehee.

Highly anticipated books like this always scare me. What happens if the author can’t take the pressure of writing such an anticipated story and it falls flat? What if it doesn’t go the way I WANT it to go? There are no guarantees and I was both extremely excited and extremely scared to start reading.
Another fear of mine was the fact that knowing this book had the big Ghost reveal, this story would be centered around the Psy. In the past, the psy-only books have not been my favorites. They lack some of the intensity that the changelings bring to the world.
I shouldn’t have worried. I was hooked from the very first line. I wrote my review with names in it and then have changed them to HERO and HEROINE in case people don’t want to know.
There are some series that always have a tough leader, a guy that makes those sometimes ruthless decisions that go against most morals. He may seem heartless but there is always a purpose to his actions. The last one I remember that caught my interest as much was Jonas from the Breeds series by Lora Leigh. But after that, it’s been the HERO. The HERO, who should be psy and Silent, but has so much bottled up passion he could melt you at his feet. The HERO, who is ruthless in the pursuit of what he wants and won’t leave anything or anyone who gets in his path standing.
Then focus all that intensity on the woman he loves. OMG!!!!! Ms. Singh, I am in awe of what you’ve done with this story. From all the layers to the HERO we get to unfold, to the story of his one true love. This is a second chance at love story. The girl he fell in love with as a kid and was taken from him. Brutally. The one he’s been searching for since. For such a hard shell on the exterior, I couldn’t help but melt at the softness inside of him.
The HERO is, in one word, INTENSE. There’s so much he has learned to keep bottled up and as that shell cracks and all that intensity spills out….. Be prepared to fall in love. Changelings have nothing on the HERO.
The HEROINE was also perfect for him. The perfect balance to his intensity. Nurturing, soft, but strong at the core. Able to stand on her own. Able to fight for her man. Able to heal him.
Then there’s the Ghost. On this subject, I’m keeping my mouth shut. However, I will say that I found the big reveal a bit….anticlimactic. After waiting to find out who the Ghost is for so long, I was expecting bombs going off, cities collapsing and the Ghost riding in on some white horse to save the race. I don’t know. I wanted something epic. Instead, we find out as almost an afterthought. And that’s all I’m going to say. No more.
Nalini Singh’s writing has the ability to paint a picture in my mind. Beautifully crafted words that flow and let the imagination run wild. And for the span of time it took me to read this book, I was living it.
I wish I could give this book 10 Stars! Every single page of this book is packed with intensity. It’s enthralling, all consuming, and mind blowing. Yes, I was thoroughly blown away! This will be one I want to re-read and hold dear.
The bed slammed back to the ground. Hard. So did every other item in the room.
“I’d line the streets with bodies before I’d ever hurt you.”
“Why are you holding me?” Closing his hand over hers, the tanned skin of his shoulders warm in the sunlight pouring through the window, he said, “Because you belong to me.”

Dream lake was an emotional book from beginning to end and I loved every minute of it, every tear and every smile. Alex has been through the ringer. Everything that could go wrong for him has. His wife divorced him, she's selling the house that he lives in, business is slow, and he's becoming an alcoholic like his parents. He is not in a good place and definitely not where he should be to meet a good girl.
But he does. And Zoe is sweet and understanding, a giving person. Truly what he needs to come out of his rut. And, of course, it helps that she's smoking hot. She needs her house remodeled to start taking care of her grandmother who has special needs and he takes on the job, against his better judgement. He knows he should stay away from Zoe, he's no good for her. Their relationship builds up slowly and perfectly even against both of their better judgements. It's hot and sweet and even sad at times. Just perfect!
Then there's the ghost. Alex picked up a ghost companion at Rainshadow Road and now he has to help him figure out who he is. The ghost is just awesome! I loved him from the beginning and how he's intertwined with the story was just amazing and magical.
Dream Lake was gripping and once I started it I couldn't stop until I finished it. It consumed me for the short time that I read it in. Another hit from Kleypas! Truly masterful. Even as it brought tears to my eyes more than once. One of my favorite reads of 2012!
Favorite Quote: "No matter what I become...I will love you! No force of heaven or hell could stop me, and damn anyone who tries. I will love you forever".

The storyline was amazing, there's a lot more interactions between Curran and Kate (bath scene?!!?!?!?).
Saiman, very intriguing, what is truly his deal? Derek, I just felt so bad for him. I also LOVED Andrea and Raphael! Cutest thing ever to see Raphael chasing after her.
Funniest moment ever:
"His Majesty needs a can-I girl anyway. And I’m not it.” “A can-I girl?” Andrea frowned. I leaned back. “ ‘ Can I fetch you your food, Your Majesty? Can I tell you how strong and mighty you are, Your Majesty? Can I pick out your fleas, Your Majesty? Can I kiss your ass, Your Majesty? Can I . . .” It dawned on me that Raphael was sitting very still. Frozen, like a statue, his gaze fixed on the point above my head. “He’s standing behind me, isn’t he?” Andrea nodded slowly. “Technically it should be ‘may I,’” Curran said, his voice deeper than I remembered. “Since you’re asking permission.”(less)
