I had to stop reading it because when people would ask me things about the series things were blending in from what had really happened, so I deidn't finish it last year.
Now, in preparation for Lover Unleashed, I had to finish it. The author of this story did an amazing job. It's written in a very J.R. Ward style. Very good job.
The actual story is pretty hot, and it makes me even want to get the Qhuay HEA sooner rather than later. Even though I know we'll have to wait for it.

I will give this book an overall 3.5 Stars. It was a pretty light read for the most part. 2 stories are stand-alone and 2 stories you really should read the previous books or you won't enjoy where they are going as much as you should.
And I actually ended up finding an author I wouldn't mind reading more of (Shannon Stacey). So onto my individual reviews.

I was a bit disappointed after reading this story. You definitely have to read Taking Care of Business andNo Reservations in order to understand where this story is coming from. However, even after reading those two stories, and I enjoyed them and liked the characters, I couldn't get into this story.
There's the drama of the fall which seem to take up extra pages and was unnecessary, the fact that she didn't want to spend Christmas with family but all of a sudden she did. And I just didn't like how Leah was taking Brandon for granted a bit.
I guess I had expectations from this story that I didn't see here.

This is the perfect ending to the story between Jude and Rori. Definitely the connection I thought was missing at the ending of Second Chances.

Cute stand-alone story. Small town girl who grew up in foster homes runs away at 18 after finding her boyfriend in bed with her best friend. She goes on to becoming a successful country singer. After 10 years she comes back to her hometown as part of a biography video. She comes back to finding her ex-boyfriend had married her best friend, had a kid with her who was now 7 years old and her best friend had died 4 years ago. After the story goes about half way we realize how she found them in bed together was all a setup by her best friend, who had always been jealous of her, and he may or may not have slept with her then, but now they can have a second chance to have a life together. I just couldn't get past the fact her name was Riley Jensen, LOL Just too close to the vampire/werewolf Guardian in Keri Arhur's series.

She always manages to create characters that you get attached to and seem very real, while weaving an intricate and very emotional web that is their lives.
And this book was definetely no exception. It is emotionally charged, had me in tears, it's also got some funny parts. It describes the day to day lives of the characters involved perfectly.
Let me start with the heroine. I really liked her. She was the shy, awkward, geeky, not-so-attractive girl in school that people used to be mean to and bother, with an older sister who was exactly the opposite, head cheerleader, married her high school sweetheart and had 2 kids. But instead of letting all that bring her down and affect her life, she moved away, got her degree from the college she wanted, lived overseas, became a writer, and rediscovered herself.
She comes back to town and we see her interaction with her family (sister, brother-in-law, nephews, mother and stepfather) which was also very real. She always had a crush on Jude growing up (the town's bad boy and her brother-in-law's brother) who is now a cop and now that she's back he seems very interested in her. Problem is, he's still a playboy.
I really liked Jude at the beginning, I was rooting for him to change his ways and get the girl. And when all of a sudden Zach comes in the picture, who I have to say I really liked, Jude's chances fall apart. It's really sad to watch him go through the realization that he is in love with Rori, only to figure it out too late, after she moved on with Zach.
I had no problem seeing her relationship with Zach develop. He seemed to appreciate her, to immediately want to know more about her, and he also seemed to understand her needs. Their relationship was just so sweet, the only thing that was ruining it for me was that I knew what was going to happen from reading it online before.
I cried so much last night after the "event" that changes things, I couldn't finish the book and had to do it this morning.
The only problem I had with it was that by the time Jude gets his second chance I felt there was a piece of the building relationship missing between the two of them.
Other than that is a great book, but it does have a lot of BDSM (not too extreme) so if you're into that, you may want to reconsider.(less)

The Haire of the Beast by Donna Andrews - 2 Stars I wasn't really into this story, although it was funny if you have an ex-boyfriend you would want to change into a dog forever.

S.A. by JA Konrath - 1.5 Stars Lets start with the fact that the first few pages of this story are at the doctors office while this guy is waiting, with a stool sample that he lets a kid look at, to figure out why he keeps finding strange things in his, well, crap. I did not need to read all that detail! Then he proceeds to figure out on his own, with the help of Google, that he's a werewolf and finds a SA (yes, it is like AA but for supernaturals) where he learns that Santa Claus is a vampire hunter, and then Santa and all his "helpers" come kill them all at a SA meeting. OK, I'm done now.
So, by now I just wanted this book to be over! But I kept going.
The Star of David by Patricia Briggs - 3.5 Stars I've only read 1 book in the Mercedes Thompson series, and the only relation this story could have is that I've read the character of David was mentioned in the series. I don't recall. Anyway, the story was nice. Werewolf, old vampire lady, human minions, a their very own little Harry Potter.

It took me a little bit to get into it as the beginning was confusing (specially because I had to keep stopping). But once I understood where the story was going I really enjoyed it.
Hugh and Lilith are just destined to be together. They meet while she's a demon *on the job* and he's a mortal about 800 years back. Even then there's something between them and it all comes down to a night where Hugh sacrifices himself for the girl he had a crush on and Lilith wanting to keep him "alive" and not able to make him a demon, bargains with an angel to make him a guardian.
They meet constantly in battles, and Hugh's intention has always been to save Lilith, until he figures to do that he has to kill her, which he does and then "falls" becoming human again. Except she doesn't die, and 15 years later she's back, to help him fight the nosferatu's killing his students, protect his life and friends, and.... she has to kill him for Lucifer.
The characters in this book are all likeable! Lilith is a tormented soul, but she's still able to make light of situations, she's got a really fun and easy going personality and at the same time can be bitchy. Sir Pup is just adorable, a hellhound with charisma, I can't wait to read more about him. Savitri, I didn't quite connect with much, but she's young and she was out of the loop, so I'll wait to form an opinion in her book. I was kind of disappointed when I read the next book is Colin and Savitri. I loved Colin in this book, and even though you could tell they were setting them up as a couple, I had hopes for him and Selah. Oh well...
I'm curious to see where Michael ends up. I want to read his story, there has to be so much there.
And then there's Hugh... Hugh is an honest, kind-hearted, male of worth (yes, it's a BDB reference, but it's the best description that comes to mind for him!). And refreshingly, he's the virgin sacrifice! LOL He has so much love for Lilith, he loves even her demon form! OUCH

On to the actual story... The story was OK, her best friend is marrying a werewolf, she's a bridesmaid, his future in-laws are trying to kill him, his own mother wants him to marry Jane. The side stories: Jane's grandmother is engaged to a ghoul, her boyfriend mysteriously disappears "on business" all the time, Dick is actually her new boss's grandfather, then he dies and becomes a ghost, her high school crush asks her out and turns out and maybe stalks her a bit before she gets rid of him, and of course there's always her family DRAMA.
You would think with all those things happening this would be an interesting book... However, seeing everything through Jane's point of view and actually having to be in her head, it all became very dull and boring to me.(less)

There could've been a great story in this book, with lots of action and interesting characters, and instead we got a book that revolved around sex. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the sex scenes as much as the next person but I like to read a bit more of a storyline, and I'm really put off when the big dying problems of the world are solved with just having sex *eye-rolling moments*. At the beginning of the book Jane seemed to have a spine, and then all of a sudden I felt like she was a different person, so scared and submissive. Nick was too attached with the way his father had instructed him to be that he couldn't let himself care for his wife. But in the end he did fall in love with Jane. And I actually liked the fact that it took that long for him to fall in love with her instead of "love at first sight" because of the Kings' wishes.
On a side note, this was a very sensual book, even though some of the scenes felt forced and without much enjoyment. And I was a bit disturbed with the Aunt's sex scenes (did NOT need to read about those). I was not too happy to read about the Sharing either, which I found was totally unnecessary in the end. Maybe it'll prove a point in the next book.
I think it's great that the author kept this book very accurate to the times, when it comes to culture, customs, behavior, etc.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, and hopefully the *war* in ElseWorld will bring a better story.(less)

I didn't think I would going in since I thought the first book was a bit boring, but there was a lot less explaining everything in detail and more actual things happening and action in this one.
The storyline was pretty good. I liked Delilah so much better than Camille. Her point of view was a lot nicer to read. Her relationship with Chase it's cute and developing, even though they're still not sure where they stand with each other and have a lot to learn.
Delilah also has to grow more comfortable with her shifter side, and maybe we'll get glimpses of that in future books.
Also, the VA meeting was pretty funny, and I would like to read more about Menolly. I'm guessing book 3 is from her POV.
Camille is still the same, she reminds me a bit of Merry Gentry don't know why!
All in all, this was a fun installment of the D'Artigo sisters and I do look forward to reading book 3 at some point.(less)

It was a bit difficult to get through this book. In general, I'm not a big fan of a book that has "one of each" of paranormal characters. It's like the author couldn't quite choose what she wanted to write a book about and just threw a big mix in.
The plot was not bad, maybe one of the reasons I kept going. But, like in a lot of first books of a series, there's a lot of explaining about the people, the places, traditions, characters. And that was all I was reading for the first few chapters, and a lot throughout the book.
I couldn't connect with the main character Camille, and she also reminded me at times of Merry Gentry.
I will probably try the second book of this series to see if it catches my interest, there are a lot of series that start out not so great and evolve into really good books.
Would I recommend it? I think it you liked Merry Gentry's books you would probably like this series, and it was an overall OK book.(less)

I really liked the twists and turns in this story, and there was sure lots of that and lots of action. In my opinion a very well put together story into an elaborate world.
My only complaint was the fact that we didn't know most of the characters involved, so this could "almost" be a stand-alone story (you wouldn't need a lot of background story to understand it). I did come to like Robyn and Finn. Even though Damon, her husband's ghost was still around, and I knew they would get a moments reunion, I was rooting for Robyn and Finn to get together, which is why at the end of the book I was still a bit frustrated. But I guess there's always hope for the next book. And if I must add one more thing.... How hard could it possibly be to turn yourself in to the cops! LOL
I really enjoyed the Hope and Karl moments we got throughout the book. And, of course, I wanted to cry at the end of the book, which is why I'm dying to get my hands on the next book already and see how it all unfolds.
I also enjoyed getting to see different viewpoints, I think that gives the readers a complete understanding of everything going on.
If you are looking for romance, this is not the book for you. It's more of a mystery with a taste of paranormal, but I like mysteries, so I enjoyed this one a lot!(less)

Where do we start... Now the characters are all grown up. Elena and Clay have their two kids, and let me just say that Logan and Kate are just ADORABLE. Jeremy is getting older, taking on a new role as babysitter (along with Jaime) to Elena's kids. So now Jeremy wants to make Elena the new alpha of the pack.
There's a mutt issue Elena and Clay have to go investigate in Alaska. There's human killings, and after they get there they discover also female humans have gone missing. This has all the good characteristics of a great werewolf book, there's more drama, suspense, action and nail-biting moments. And as usual with Elena and Clay, they have a hard time getting themselves out of danger before they have to have sex!
There's a lot of sweet, tender moments between them, like when she first seems him on the plane! We also see Clay struggling to adjust to the fact he's not as young as he used to, and has his handicap with the one arm, which now makes him look at things differently. And also how Elena has to work through in her mind the fact that she will be pack alpha.
And the part I'm most excited about... I think there's some promising wolf characters to write books about! I want one about Nick for sure, he's just so cute! But Noah, Reese, Morgan can grow into characters I'd want to read more about.(less)

This book was, as the others in this series, a fun, light read. I forgot how much fun the goddesses are! Venus is hillarious.
This is a story about friendship, loyalties, goddesses that get in everybody's business, and P.C. Cast own tale of the Trojan War.
Kat, a mortal woman from the modern world, and her best friend, Jacky, are brought by Venus, Athena and Hera to put an end to the Trojan War. Kat's mission is to keep Achilles from fighting so that the greeks can hurry up and lose.
Kat and Jacky, who are close to their 40s, are given 18 year old bodies to complete this task, and are promised to be given the body of their choice after they accomplish the mission. Jacky is a sooo funny, their friendship is very real, and they both find love in another time.
This is not a book to look at if you want accurate storytelling of events or mythology. I think the author did a wonderful job using most elements and putting her twist on the story.
Kat and Achilles make a very cute couple, their relationship never felt forced, and I felt it developed and flowed nicely.
The only thing I wished for that didn't happen, was at the end I thought they would all go back to the modern world and live their lives there as opposed to staying in old times.(less)

Elena is now a *baby* angel. We get to see her adapting to her wings, the changes in her body, her weakness shows through in this book more, and allows Raphael (soooo sexy) to take care of her. We still see her as a hunter for now, and she'll be facing some decisions in the future.
We get small glimpses into Elena's traumatic past as her memory slowly comes back, and we piece the whole thing with her. We have more than one crazy angel/vampire in this one (not giving any spoilers here!) which kept the story flowing very nicely. I enjoy a book a lot more when there's more than one thing I need to be worried about happening, it keeps me on my *toes*. There's definitely lots of twists to the story, but they only make Elena stronger.
I thought it was so cute that Elena was going to classes with the angel children, and they were helping her too. As usual I really liked Ilium, we don't get to see much of Dimitri (so sad), Venom and Galen I could warm up to.
Elena and Raphael's relationship also evolves throughout the book. Raphael learns to let Elena in and Elena shows Raphael her vulnerability. They both show trust and love. And their chemistry.... very, very hot (I think I'm in love). And I actually think the way their relationship is developing and the way they interact with each other is also very realistic.
Excellent story, characters and writing in a different and intriguing world.(less)

I've been wanting to start this for such a long time! I wish the story could've been longer to develop better, but it was funny, entertaining, sexy, with just a little bit of action.
For the most part I liked the characters in this novel, although at times their emotions didn't feel believable. And I also liked the characters around them. The Valkyrie are a funny bunch!
With Wroth and Myst it was... love at first sight, and then wait 5 years... and then fight it, give in and fight for it in the end.

Where can I start, the characters were amazing. Eden Back is an otherworlder that has been raised on Earth. Her skin, eyes and hair are gold. And she's an assassin of otherworlder criminals. She is then partnered against her will with Lucius, a human very hot alpha male to kill her target EenLi, an otherworlder who is kidnapping human women (mostly) and auctioning them off as slaves to be taken to other planets. And on a side note, I liked Targon also in the end.
The actual story was very well put together, with lots of twists an turns, which I won't mention because I don't want to give anything away. As with the other book, we learn about different kinds of otherworlders, we get a lot of action, in a secret-agent kind of way, but I actually liked that this was not a member of AIR but an independent assassin mission, less bureaucracy.
And lets not forget that there's also romance in this book! Eden and Lucius chemistry was just explosive! *fans self* Just one word for it, HOT!(less)

Marrock. One of King Arthur’s knights. Maybe used to be the “love them and leave them” type. Until the day he slept with, and left, the wrong woman. Or witch, in his case, Morganna. Obviously none to happy about it, Morganna curses him to immortality.
Now fast forward to present day. He has lived in isolation, after having everything taken from him, being kicked out of court, and watching his loved ones die, he lives in solitude, does not form bonds with anyone as he knows he will eventually lose them. But one day, he sees Olivia, and her eyes are the same eyes he’s been remembering for the past 15 centuries. Morganna’s. He believes her to be the witch who cursed him. However Olivia is just an American human, who has moved to London in search of her heritage. After the death of her mother she finds out who her father is and goes to London to find him. And she does find out where she came from, as she is descendant of Morganna Le Fay.
I really like the premises of this whole new world. There’s magic, there’s fae. I enjoyed the fact that the book had a mystery feel to it, with a lot of twists and turns, and I didn't expect how things would turn out and unfold, which was great! The one scene in the hallway with Bram walking up the stairs (great!). And towards the end where there’s more action it got really good.
I thought Marrock was a bit of a brute, I understand why he’s bitter, I understand why he doesn’t have any personal relations skills, so in a way I thought he was cute in his big brute ways. He does have issues with trusting Olivia, and although understandable, I thought they went on too long. The lack of communication and mistrust was getting a bit frustrating at times, but I could see Marrocks point completely.
I liked Olivia just fine. She struggles with believing that Marrock can love her, even after they perform the mating ritual. This also felt a bit repetitive. Onto the other characters: I LOVED Bram! Sabelle and Ice, I could see some sparks maybe in the future. Shock, he's hot and I'm still confused (and that's all I'm going to say). Caden, sounds very promising ;)
I loved the ending and how things fell into place and I'm looking forward to book 2. (less)
