I just can't find any words to say to this book. It was Hot, sultry, dirty, full of lust, compelling. argh! I cannot find any way to say this but this book is totally crazzzyyyyy!!! It got me yanking my hair out just to know what the secret is. The book is set in a posh life of a girl named Layana. She found the love of her life. But everything changed when she knew that her boyfriend has a major secret he is hiding.
The book got me gripping. I want to tear every page so i can get the part on what the secret is, The whole plot pretty much won't leave you any clues on how can there be such a big secret lurking in this book. Seriously?? I did not see that coming. It hit me like a BANG! The author lead us to this very twisted story that you think is a typical romance novel with a typical twist. But it's not. This book got me questioning everything! When I found about the secret. I was backtrackking every page of the book and got me saying "Oh that's why she did that", "Oh that's why she said that" , "That's why she acted that way."
Reading this book is such a surreal experience. I really don't know what to think. It is so messed up in a very beautiful way. I don't know what to think of it. But still I gave it a 5 star rating it was that good, in the most undesirable way. I have encoutered two books with the same twist and turns. Next time I will be prepared. I will not be fooled if ever i will encounter the same kind of book again. ...more

What the hell did I just read?? this book really got me all confused and unsure of everything... The book started of with reading with the POV of a girl named Naomi, she is just an ordinary girl but she wakes up in the morning finding herself in a psych ward, unsure of why is she detained there.
It seems pretty interesting to read a book like this, the prose of the book got me really captivated and I was sure with myself that I will surely find this book really mind blowing. The first couple of chapters didn't gave it away. It seems like I am just reading a book that has a typical plot. Everything is just so ordinary, but somehow it is hard to keep up with the main charater'
point of view, all of she's saying is a bit of a blur. she is completely unstable and I don't know what to think of her. At times I think she is a complete slut. Sleeping with two guys at a same time, and I think of her as a complete push over. above all it was really hard to grasp every thought in each chapter and page with Naomi narrating her story. I don't know what the whole book is all about. It got me thinking that I can figure the mystery of this book by just reading between the lines. But NO. NO. NO. The line "God, I love you. part should gave me a hint but no. it never crossed my mind.
A fact of the matter is. it is really hard to make a review without spoiling it. I am glad that the end of the book that the mystery is unveiled and Unraveled and the book made me kinda Sad. after reading it you just get to realize how precious life is, It should not be wasted. we must stand on our feet and fight, and no matter how hopeless you think you are there is still that someone willing to fight your demons with you.
My advice? Go for the book a big shocker is waiting for you but be warned some scenes are graphic and contains a lot of adult things so better condition your mind prior reading it....more

it turned out it did what i just expected . the book has one interesting prose. a teenage boy killing his own family not knowing why or what his real motives are. it got me really really hooked just by reading the summary and as i read on the pages of the book it seems like this book was in a quick phase unlike my previous encounter with the Gone Girl. i was not bored reading it and reading different prespective fron Patty, Ben and Libby made this book have variety and didn't get me bored.
the book features abuse, sex and devil worshipping the book was twisted I have no idea some people think like that. (Diondra was the most twisted of them all) the book will not be from Gillian Flynn if it wasn't twisted, it was also disturbing made me flinch and take deep breaths while reading it . The book just held a really deep meaning like things that made me feel really uncomfortable that I feel like the ending for me didn't make me feel satisfied, i still think gone girl has a far better twists and turns and has a good ending than this one....more

I feel like my rating in this book is very questionable. The story starts with this married couple on their 5th wedding anniversary. Amy (The wife) went missing leaving only subtle and vague clues on her whereabouts. It seems interesting at first. I mean. I just love mystery so much, and part of reading this is because of that reason. in the back of my mind I was thinking " This will blow up my mind!" but what happened to me is exactly the opposite. When I was reading this book I was always on the verge of sleeping every time I grab my ebook copy of it.
But the book got interesting on the second part. I mean on this part of the book, you will think all kinds of vile things that you can think about Nick and Amy. I was really confused on what the plot of the book is. I can't begin to muster what really happened to him. but... (view spoiler)[ It turns out that Amy is framing her husband on killing her cause she caught him having an affair on his 23 year old student. (hide spoiler)]
The story was good. don't get me wrong it has an unbelievably twist on the near end part. I would have given it a 4 or 5 star rating, but I was just so bored when I was reading this one. so minus two stars for the book. just one tip of advice who is about to read it. JUST BEAR with it while reading it, trust me it gets boring, a lot of dialogues are here and there. but It'll get good I can guarantee that.
I guess no one will guess what really happened to Amy. the whole secret lingering in this book will just shocked you. I never saw that shocking twist at the end. I just have such indescribable emotions as I am at the peak of the conclusion. but yeah. if it wasn't for the boring opening I would have loved this book even more. :|["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>...more
my 4th John Green Novel, and I was *this* close to give this one aOriginally posted on The YA Bookworm
OFFICIAL RATING 4.95/ 5 stars >:) TEHEE
my 4th John Green Novel, and I was *this* close to give this one a 5 star Rating. oh my.
this is really really different from the 3 previous books I have read from the same author, John Green. From the start of the novel there is a very evident change in John Green's writing style and that is using a teenage girl POV for narrating the whole story, you know John green, right? he writes story from a point of view of a guy. and giving out dirty jokes in the story here and there. But this one is entirely different. This story is about two cancer survivors, Hazel and Agustus. I for one think that John Green made a very bold choice of the main plot will be, cause for me Cancer is such a very hard topic to make out a story for, cause we all know that cancer has ruined many people's life we all know that a person who's been through it has really suffered greatly, and John Green just delivered these assumption flawlessly, in a way the book was written in a light fashion way but still has a hint of seriousness in it.
as I've said this is my 4th John Green novel, and this would have to be the first one that made me teary eyed. Not teary eyed because of the jokes and humor (cause John Green is really known to make books with jokes and humor) but because of how the story was narrated by a cancer survivor and how she deals with her life living everyday with uncertainty cause there is this fear that cancer will reoccur again and she'll have to fight for her life again. and the love story is really unique. OH , I mean imagine a loving someone knowing that you both are bound to not to be with each other for a long time. OH GOD! I can't imagine loving like that. John Green really showed how brave the Hazel and Agustus are. They fought cancer, they lived there life even though there is like a least chance of survival.
A lot of readers are saying that John Green keeps on making books of the same plot, genre, settings and dialogues, well looks like the ranting will have to stop cause Mr. Green just step out of his comfort zone and wrote a book that is completely not his signature style. and by that I am really pleased. I would have given this book 5 stars I am like a verge of giving this book a perfect rating, but the ending was not what I have expected, AHHH! it would have been great if the ending was different, but nevertheless i enjoyed every single page of this book, and I am now an official disciple of John Green, GOSH! this dude just rocks....more
I've never been to a circus. NEVER!i think in my country, Philippines I don't know if it's been in our culture to have circuses around, but i think our Local "Perya"/ "peryahan" comes pretty close to what a circus is, as described in the books and as seen in a television. But it never has this kind of elements such as fortune tellers and spell bounding acts in our local "Perya" or maybe I am just a weirdo and such a Homebody that maybe there is a "real" circus lurking in our area that I have no idea that it is there. But nevertheless my close encounter to such circus is the "Peryahan"
This would have to be my second book about circus, the first one is Water for Elephants and the main reason that I've read that book was because it was made into a movie starring Robert Pattinson (call me crazy fangirl) well in this book the main reason that I've read it was because I have seen a lot of reviews saying that it has many surprises and I just happen to love surprises I like it when there will be a part in a book that my mouth will just be hanging open and even though my eyes are sore from continuous reading I'll endure that pain just to read the entire book, and well the circus setting ain't that bad to read. kinda longing for that setting of a book cause it's been a while since I've read a circus related book.
well did the book lived up with the expectation?
I can't give you a definite answer. I mean the night circus IS great. a book that contains an old victorian- adult plot with magic and sorcery on the side. and it is promising but the book is soooooooooooooooo Darn long. and regardless of the number of pages the book is so descriptive that it took me a while to finish it and even conjure on what kind of book this is, cause you see the main plot of the book is about the duel between the protege of the two renowned magicians and the concept of the game is in either you WIN OR YOU DIE. well that is the plot alright. but as you read on there are many sub stories on the side that it is kinda hard to make out on what the book is about. and OH darn, I can honestly say that the book did bore me. I was contemplating on skipping it but then again there are twists in the story and I am looking forward to know on what is the twists in the story. but somehow the twist was nice and promising. not kinda expecting for it to be the outcome of the story.
4 stars for the book:
-the romance was nice. you can feel the intensity of the attraction between Celia and Marco. INTENSE ATTRACTION is an underrated word to describe their romance. OOHHH! trust me.
- Nice sorcery and magic. feels like I am reading Harry Potter (cause of the sorcery in it) and not mainly focused on the circus acts but it has some kinda sorcery in it.
- Nice set of Characters.
don't read this one if you don't like long descriptive books that can bore you out. cause the downside of the book is I guess no pumping adrenaline in any page.
one piece of advice read this one on your own risks. not saying the book is entirely bad just very slow paced. but has Magic and surprises on the side that can make your mouth hang open. :D ...more
This would have to be my first Love Story Book I have read for 2012. This one kinda disappoint me, caBook Review Originally posted @ The YA Bookworm
This would have to be my first Love Story Book I have read for 2012. This one kinda disappoint me, cause I was actually expecting this book to really answer the Question that's been intriguing me like
"can Love at first sight actually does exists?"
turns out the book didn't even give me even a slightest hint if such thing/phenomenon does exist.
the book is like Anna and the French Kiss, I mean the story line has the same flow, so I was expecting that It'll be as good as the book, but as it turns out, it was great in the first couple of pages, really gives me this giddy factor, but as I read on it turns out that the book is like really too good to be true, like the events stated in the book is not really possible to happen in real life, I know this is a fiction book, but some books that I've read at least contain a bit of realism to them, but this one is just, well. Too impossible to occur in any Human living on this planet.
I gave it 3 stars cause the first couple of pages is good, and there was a sense of unpredictability in the plot, but as everything goes on, everything just gets crappy and I didn't like it.
after reading this my judgement of the probability of love at first sight would probably be like Zero to none percent that it would happen in real life. meh. :|...more

WOOOHH hahaha!
Habang binabasa ko to , syempre si Bob Ong to. Syempre puro to katatawanan.
HAY! Opinyon ko Lang to kaya wag kayo magalit. hahahahahhahahah! XD ...more

The cover art really caught my attention , i mean come on. ain't the cover just so beautiful? really captivating if you ask me
so what to say about the book? I think the book is kinda good the first couple of pages was tolerable, the first part of the book was kinda all over the place the plot was not that concrete and so does the characters. We are intoduce to a two main character in the book (Aimee and Alan) their characters for me is kinda poorly constructed (Sorry sorry sorry) It's just that there so no definite kind of trait or personality. I really don't know what to make out of Aimee's character sure she is not a "Damsel in Distress" (Stated by her) sure she is smart but her mind just works differently ahmm. in the first part of the book she said that Blake and her are like a couple meant for each other but she broke up with him cause he made fun of the new guy. (aint that shallow or what?) Alan reminds me of Jacob Black the way he is describe, but his thoughts were just filled on how much he fancy Aimee he even said that her Jaw looks sexy while chewing *Rolls Eyes* PUH-LEASE! i think it is safe to say that this book is filled with raging teen hormones.
The romance between the two teens are kinda fast for my taste. Aimee just broke up with her boyfriend and damn she is hanging out with ALAN? LOL. Her boyfriend is missing and ooohhh! she just kissed ALAN? haha! DAMN GIRL ain't you feisty or what?
the plot is not that great also, well it has it's moments due to the concept of possession it was kinda scary to be honest. I give credit on how the book stated "the possession", the plot is good but as you read on it kinda gets bad I really don't know what to make out of the possession mystery surrounding their town. MEH :/
Overall: i did not enjoy reading this one. This is actually a stand alone book. so yeah i won't even read the next one even if this is a series....more

in this book we are introduced tthis is one funny book! this is my third John Green novel and i have to say that the guy never fails to make me laugh.
in this book we are introduced to the main character Collin who is a genius he pretty much know everything he speaks 11 different kinds of language but his passion is linguistics he likes to make anagrams out of people's name or maybe just random words that he just saw or encounter. My thoughts about Collin's character. I like Collin sure he is selfish brat and a washed up child prodigy but i liked it when his character shows that even though you are good at something you still are not considered THE BEST, sure at the age of 3 Colin can read he won a Quiz bee TV show but he still didn't get what he wants, he is not internationally known as the smartest kid in the whole universe, and most especially he got dumped by 19 Katherines.
Hassan and Colin are really two peas in a pod i just love those guys I would really really love to have a friend like Hassan, he always got Colin's back. the lines of the two guys is just something really quirky and funny.
the plot of the book is really refreshing, i have read Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns i was kinda shocked that the book was written in a 3rd person POV not unlike the two books that i have read from John Green. but still the elements of what makes John Green likeable are still there you get a laughing moment each and every time you flip the page of reading this book.
what i appreciate most in this book is that the idea that no two persons are alike. There are times when we get attached to a certain person and eventually there is also a time that we have to let them go, and enable to move on our instincts tend to look for someone who has the same qualities and traits, but eventually we also fail cause in this world there are no two persons alike each and everyone of us has a unique and special kind of identity *wink* (LOL)
lots of reviews that I've read that this novel is just like the exact same clone of other novels from John Green. But let me tell you that what makes John Green,John Green. i did enjoy this one even though it has similarities of his other novel but i guess that's what i like the most about John Green he always deliver a good story and still gets a few laughs out of it lots of message you will get just by reading a single book.
so this one would have to me my fave out of the 3 novels i have read from him. ...more
this book was actually given to me by the author for review. I am giving my overwhelming gratitude for trusting me enough to review this book and also this book was actually given to me by the author for review. I am giving my overwhelming gratitude for trusting me enough to review this book and also giving me the hard copy of the book. :D
I did enjoy reading this book cause i feel like i was transported back to my childhood days, the way the charcters in the book seek adventures and at an early age they seek magic and they believe that they exist. just those couple of parts , this book really caught my attention cause as I've said I feel like i was a kid again when i've read this one.
the characters are also something that i really liked, they are all tweeners (ahm... maybe their age bracket falls on 12 to 13 years old) even though i don't belong in the age bracket (Teehee >:) i have made a connection with their characters and i love it that they posses different kinds of personalities and traits and I am glad that i can relate in each one of them. The main character Ryan/Trish-a (I really love her name) at first she is this kind of reckless girls who craves adrenaline in her system but as you read on, it's really nice to see that she became responsible and becomes more knowledgable as the story progresses.
what i appreciate the most in this book is that it contains values. it's about friendship, loyalty and trust.
the writing style also is really good i feel like I am transported into a fantasy/magical world as described in the book and i like the cute little button people in the book. the book kinda reminds me of some of the faery YA books that I've read regarding the setting and magic in it.
overall: i enjoyed reading this one. Lots of intriguing questions left unanswered. so I am looking forward for the next installment. :))...more
when i actually finished reading this book i really don't know how to make a review out of it, i just think Imaginary girls iwhat to say? what to say?
when i actually finished reading this book i really don't know how to make a review out of it, i just think Imaginary girls is the kind of book that left me really dumbfounded when i finished reading it, and oh trust me, i was speechless not in a good way, not in a very good way at all.
let's first go with the pros of the book:
I think the book has a very captivating premise plus the very nice book cover! oh come on! the book cover is really nice! the book cover is enough for me to think that this book is filled with mystery and the tag line "secrets never stay below the surface" is something really eerie and creepy and I am the kind of reader that is in to secrets and mystery.
second one is the writing style, i like how the book is written in a way it's kinda poetic and lyrical combined with the eeriness of it. it made me feel like the town of Olive is really Haunted.
ok lets proceed with the Cons:
I think Ruby's character is the most Love her or hate her character ever!! OMG! for one moment you will like her cause she cares so much of her younger sister Chloe, but at times you think she is just one hell of a bitch, she actually reminds me of Alison Dilaurentis in the Pretty little liars series, she is just plain manipulative and everyone adores her, but behind all those smiles and people adoring her, deep inside everyone hated her. >:)
i think the story has potential but it would have been great if the author provided a short glimpse or a side story on why Ruby has the ability to rise people from the dead or better yet she should have provide a history regarding the Reservoir, I mean a lot of question is swirling in my mind like, Is the reservoir really haunted? does it have lost spirit in it? after reading this book none of my questions were answered and i think the book just really left a reader like me very confuse and well really blank.
I just hoped that the story is really has a solid plot, there was this moment when i was reading this book and i was like "what the hell am I reading?" i can say that Imaginary girls is the kind of novel that has a scattered plot, i can't even come up with the right words on how to describe the story.
I'm not saying that the book is really bad, you should try it out if you like mystery, and if you happen to like it, please do enlighten me. :) and the ending is really nice in a way it's really bittersweet.

Beautiful Disaster? what can I say about this book? hmmm... this book actually reminds me of the Book Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles the flow of the story is pretty much the same. Bad boy (who has straight A's btw) meets smart and good hearted girl.. eventually both collide and fell in love with each other ,thus forming a Beautiful Disaster.
so... pretty much perfect Chemistry-ish right? but i guess the only difference is that this book is much hotter and steamier than the latter.
this book is actually very long, i feel like i am watching a two hour movie with repeated story line over and over. the first part of the book was good you get this giddy feeling every time you read it, cause for me it's really nice to see Travis break in to his shell from bad boy player to a vulnerable guy cause he is falling in love with her best friend, Abby. Those parts of the book were great. i actually skip meals, lost precious sleeping hours just to know how will the story of the two lovers will be.
2nd part i guess the part where they went to Vegas, i kinda lost my interest in the book cause everything is just so redundant they make love, they fight, they break, they kiss. (so on... blah.blah.) i was so infuriated with the flow of the story, i mean they love each other and everything, so why suppress it? duh. i feel like grabbing Abby out of the book and shake her shoulders and tell her "Come on Girl!!! you are making this soooo hard for everyone!" LOL...
so why 4 stars?
at the end of the book i have this realization that love conquers all.. (cheesy, I KNOW!!!) and maybe even though the book is long and some parts were boring, i like it that the author made a believable love story. She showed how an individual can go crazy, change for the person that he/she loves. and how also a certain person can found or lost their love. so yeah this book is filled with cheesiness and sugar coated with even more sugar lines and scenes, and i guess those are the elements that can make a reader like me, go crazy. (Geez is this a cheesy review or what?) LOL
if it weren't for the consistency of the plot i would have given it a 5 star rating. cause what happened is that the first part was very climatic while the 2nd part was a downer, so therefore 4 stars is my rating for this book.
erm.. IDK what's with the book cover, i have no clue why is that the cover.. meh.

When i was reading this book, i feel like I am watching Ugly Betty and Nodame Cantabile... we get to meet Beth who is known to her classmates as the "Beast" cause of what she looks like, but even though she is ugly she has a wonderful voice. and along her choir competition she met a guy, a guy she truly loved and they share the same passion for music but when she returned home she realized that her best friend Scott, who has been with her along the way loves her also.
at first i think the description given to Beth was a bit too exaggerated i can't imagine someone looking so horrible, she even made kids cry and i can't imagine someone being called a "beast" oh trust me i know what it's like to be bullied, but what has Beth gone through is a bit too much? i guess i can say that she is Bullied very severely .
the plot of the story is your very usual ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan, but that didn't made the story your typical fairy tale, cause there is something behind the book title, the story is actually heart breaking. i never guessed that it would end like that, and also i never would have guess what is up with Derek.
Overall: a so-so book, i'm not actually a big fan of romance it will take a lot of drama for me to be moved by a certain romance novel, so this one is a nice quick read, not my cup of tea but this one left me really refreshed and i feel like smiling to the whole world when i was done reading ...more

i really don't know what to expect from the book , i have this feeling that it was going to be about a loner boy who has no friends and has a miserable life cause the book won't be titled as "Perks of being a Wallflower" if it isn't about that. so the first couple of pages is like a letter from a guy named Charlie, and at the beginning he always write the words "Dear Friend" so the book is like filled with Journal entries from Charlie and it is the compiled events of his life. The first couple of pages of the book i was actually dead bored i have been contemplating with myself if I should stop and just skip reading this particular book, but as it turns out i did manage to finish it, and i was really shock with it's content cause it actually contains some Taboo stuff that i never thought that will be the subject or will be discussed in this book. like many sex scenes, using pot and smoking, abortion, and third sex relationship. in a way the book is an eye opener for teens cause maybe by this book you will be able to face the reality, like how much we avoid this kind of subject it's always happening around you.
The characters were always nice , I appreciate it that the author gets to have a variety of characters, and i guess every reader gets to empathize with each of them, cause they all posses this distinct personality and also have this problems that each of every normal teen faces everyday. as for the main character,Charlie. I can describe him as a very observant boy, who just looks at things and be able to analyze and read his friends or people around him (I guess that's why the book is called Perks of being a Wallflower) and due to being observant and empathizing with his peers he gets to be this kind of friend that lies just so he gets to please his friends and make them happy. in a way i can relate to charlie the most not just because he is the main character of the story but because of his personality, I guess I am like him in a way that I treat my friends and the way I think about them.
Overall: a very inspiring book, I gave it three stars cause i was like bored in the couple of pages, i do recommend it for ages 16 and up. must be really open minded enable to appreciate this book. :D...more

But in this book we get to meet a very risky gal named Natalie, who would risk it all just to know how guys think and she gets to cross dress and pretend as a guy in a boy's school just to get to write a decent arcticle for her column, to whole thing sounds very familiar right? the book is exactly the same replica of the movie She's the man starring Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum.
at first i was a bit skeptical that the book won't be that exactly the same as the movie, but it turns out that it is, let me tell you the resemblance
1. cross dresser girl
2.girl get to fall in love with the roommate
3. bitchy gal who will blow her cover.
see?? while reading this I can't help but compare it to the movie she's the man , but i did enjoy reading this one, some parts were funny and some parts was just plain ole boring, this book has it's moments wherein i get to be excited to know what will happened but most of the time i get this feeling that i was in this state wherein i was really bored and I'll go like "OH MAN!! Nothing's new here!"
Babe in boyland is something you can read in just one sitting, cause everything is just so light and fluffy in the book, a very light read this book was, but i was just not that in to it, i do recommend it for girls, since it's a chcick lit book, and also a huge hard core fan of she's the man and Hanna Kimi... :D

i never thought that I will give this book a 2 star rating, i super LOVE the Hunger games trilogy! and i thought i will find myself liking this short anthology of the series. oh man! I feel so bad for giving this book 2 stars, but i was just so bored when i was reading this.
this book is actually about a compiled essay about the hunger games craze, so basically the book just revolves around the 3 main characters (Katniss,Gale,Peeta) and also about Panem and the book's supporting characters (Rue,Finnick, Prim) Etc. i just feel like the whole book is pretty repetitive like it all evolves in a same topic, and i just find the whole thing to be boring i was expecting that there will be short stories involve, cause I've been reading a bunch of book Novella's and i enjoyed reading them all, so i was expecting the girl who was on fire to be like the Keys to the repository of the Blue Bloods series, i expected this book to contain short stories and bios about the characters, and the story behind the plot. *sighs*
I still love the hunger games, but reading the book's anthology really didn't work for me, i guess I am not a big athology fan... I REPEAT! I STILL LOVE THG. LOL...more
