Katniss Everdeen volunteered to be the tribute on the hunger games because her younger sister Prim was draw and she doesn't want her to participate the game because she fears that prim might get killed or can't make it through the game, another participant of the game is peeta mellark the son's baker in district 12 and the boy whom Katniss knows from school and who once saved Katniss's life by giving her bread when her family was starving. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At first i really don't want to read the hunger games i actually want to read the prophecy of the sisters by michelle zink since i can't find it and in every bookstore that i look i there is always a huge tarpaulin for the hunger games trilogy and since we have a 1 month break from school and i need something to do in that one month i decided to buy it. First i thought i made a mistake of buying it because i never like sci-fi, futuristic genre i always read books that is in the paranormal romance genre BUT I WAS WRONG!!!!!! hunger games is such a beautifully written book very fast paced and every page is filled with adrenaline the first couple of pages I can't help but to feel sad because of the poor city of district 12 wherein Katniss have to hunt and trade it just so they have something to eat . i love the characters of the book like
katniss--she is independent and really love her family and i admire her character because she's strong and will do anything and everything for her family
PEETA- ahhh!!!! SWEET and loving peeta i love him so much i don't know why katniss doesn't like him!? i know peeta is kinda heart broken by the end of the book he is hurt when he realize that the affection that katniss is showing him is just for the audience ,just for the show.
. the ending kinda left me hanging because i really want katniss and peeta to end up together but i think gale has feelings for katniss too and katniss is so confused on which to choose!!!!! ahhhh.. hunger games is a must read and i recommend it to everyone! :) ...more
since the book is divided into three parts (the spark, the quell, the enemy) I'm gonna do a review on each of part of the book
*Pasince the book is divided into three parts (the spark, the quell, the enemy) I'm gonna do a review on each of part of the book
*Part 1: the spark
- in this part of the book it's pretty much where book one has left off. Katniss and Peeta being victors of the hunger games meaning they are living a good life . But president snow is pissed of the act Katniss pulled in the arena (eating the nightlock berries) so pres. snow wants Katniss to show everyone in Panem that eating the berries is not some act of defying the capitol but she has done that cause of her undying love for peeta.
Ok so thoughts on part 1
*since part 1 is title is "the spark" so i was thinking "can Katniss actually realize that she feels the same way as Peeta?" but instead on part one Katniss chose Gale over Peeta *slaps forehead* i'm like "come on katniss!!! really?? are you serious??? are sure about that? i don't really like Gale cause i just don't feel him that well on book 1. i know he is a diligent son, feeding his family and everything but that's it! i don't get much of who he really is...
* part one of the book is pretty exciting cause we get a taste of what the plot will be (an uprising)
* katniss is kinda confuse on part 1 , so ok she chose Gale over peeta *grunts* but she doesn't know if what she's feeling is real like when she kissed gale she doesn't know if that kiss meant anything. I think katniss is confuse cause she loves her family more than her love for the two boys.
part 2: the quell
when part 1 just ended my mouth is just hanging open! in my mind i was thinking "Dammit president Snow!! are you effing kidding me??? are you freaking serious? what? ur making the past victors contestants again? you... you... you s^&*!,^&*@#(#^# *inhales* *exhales* *regaining self-composure*
in part 1 i just slapped my forehead but in part 2 i just wanna hit my forehead on a wall! (but that would hurt a lot so i just stick on slapping my forehead.. HAHA!) on part 2 i just feel anger, depression and fury!
*i'm angry at president snow! *i'm angry at the peacekeepers who hit cinna on the head! *sobs* *im angry that katniss and peeta will have to go through this over again! :(
but my fave Katniss and peeta moment is in this part of the book: peeta and katniss on the rooftop having Picnic katniss lays down on peeta's lap while she's doing some crown of flowers and then peeta said "i wish this will last forever" katniss replied "ok" then they watch the sunset together! (awwww!!!)
part 3: the enemy
uhmmm.. in this part of the book got me going really crazy! many emotions are steering inside me. i don't know whether to laugh, cry,be angry,be depressed,be scared...
i have never felt this emotional over a book... i really wanna cry when *peeta is telling katniss that she needs to live cause no one will need him back at district 12,*peeta giving a pearl to katniss *sobs* T.T
and then the ending!!! the ending is a major cliff hanger! *grunts*
i wanna read mockingjay so bad! cause i want some answers to my question
like 1.is peeta alive? 2. is district 12 really gone? 3. will katniss have a change of heart? (choose peeta, katniss!!!)
but mockingjay is out on hardcover... i don't buy hardcover books cause they're pretty pricey. i certainly don't wanna read it on an e-book format.. (huhu) i need to save up some money or maybe wait for MJ to be available on paperback (but i don't think i can wait that long! HUHU)
in the society officials decide, who i love, where i work, when i die... when i turn seventeen the moment will come for myWILL MAKE REVIEW SOON!!!!!
in the society officials decide, who i love, where i work, when i die... when i turn seventeen the moment will come for my matching, where the society will match me in my most optimum partner I'm sure they'll come with a perfect match with my... b..essstt friieennnnddd Xander *screen blurs* what's going on??
Characters--- so there are two main characters in the book (Ky and Cassia)
Cassia-- Cassia is the main heroine of the story, so at first Cassia is a very neutral character in the story you neither love her nor hate her, while I'm reading the book there is not much recognition or any strong feelings that i have for cassia but she doesn't annoy me like normal heroine characters. But as i'm reading book i started to like her i really like her straight-forward decisions she is never in "dilemma mode" or "denial mode" she directly admitted to herself that she is in love with Ky and not with Xander no ifs and no buts. and i love her character progression she shows some kind of rebellion at the end of the story.
Ky- Ky is... he is like... hmmmmm... i find it funny that i can't find any adjective besides mysterious to describe Ky. so let me just compare him to a puzzle, a puzzle because he is just someone that you have to crack or decode enable to unravel what he truly is. Ky to me is a big question mark. you really, really, really have to look within him enable to decipher a word that he is saying. i never encountered a character that is so intriguing and mysterious yet you won't mock him or call him a freak or a weirdo and you can't help yourself not to like him and smile whenever you he has an appearance in the book. :">
* i actually love how Ky is very fond of "the arts" (read poems, writing, draw) i really love the way he draws on a napkin and not just any drawing but it actually represents his life... i find it very romantic.. <3
The concept of the book Matched is like "fixed marriage" when a boy or a girl turned 17, they'll be all called in a matching pool where everyone is paired to their most compatible partner, the reason for this matching is for the matched couple to produce healthy children and be productive in the society. The society also decide when they'll die, where they work, what they eat, what age they'll stop having a baby.
- Matched is very hunger games-like i mean it's like living in a world where everyone has control on you. but in this book even on who you choose to love is still the society's mission well i kinda find it wrong cause it's more of our right on who we choose to spend our life with (cheesy) LOLZ... and the "you'll be dead by 80" is somehow inhumane, like OMG!!! it's kinda too much that they'll be the one to decide when you'll die.. :(
- the way matched is written is kinda Prophecy of the Sisters-like it's like the words a carefully selected and each word is fragile, i actually imagine someone narrating it with a voice so soft and assuring.
i only gave the book 4 stars cause it's kinda missing something but i can't quite put a finger on it. i wanna read the next book... i wanna know where is Ky. and i'm really looking forward to the Cassia and Ky Love team ,Cassia's quest, the rebellion.. :D
i would just like to say that wither's front cover is very beautiful!! that girl from the cover is like a contestant from America's next top model LOLi would just like to say that wither's front cover is very beautiful!! that girl from the cover is like a contestant from America's next top model LOL.
wither is about Rhine she's been kidnapped and forced to marry. although she lives in luxury together with her two sister wives, she wants to escape enable to find her twin.
so we have a new heroine of YA dystopia, Rhine Ellery. rhine is pretty much the combination of Katniss and Cassia, she has fearless ideas, thoughts and actions but somehow she is vulnerable when she sympathize with her two sister wives, the way she mourns over Jenna and Rose and the way she consoles linden... but what makes her really special is her hetero chromatic eyes, meaning she has 2 different eye color.
this is my 4th Dystopian book that I've read and this would have to be the kind of futuristic world that I'm afraid to live in cause (1) men dies @ the age of 25 while women dies at the age of 20 and dying is not as simple as closing your eyes but you have to experience some painful kind of sickness like coughing with blood, blisters on skin, wilting of hair and so on (2) prostitution and polygamy is legal since people in their society die at a very young age polygamy is advisable enable to impregnate as many women as they can and prostitution is somehow mandatory, girls are kidnapped and their physical appearance are checked see if they are ample enough well if they are not capable enough they get killed.(3) people are sold through auctions.
but the way the author described places, things on the book is not really impressive sure holograms is there, pretty dresses, sparkling bubble bath but since we are talking of futuristic stuff here i'm expecting cooler things. I feel like the things that she described from the book is not enough to fill in the dystopian genre .
so why 4 stars then?
well I enjoy reading this book besides from being different due to the polygamy thing but this kind of dystopia, somehow doesn't show that much rebellion to their society cause their society is not that controlling but the main mission for our heroine is to find the magical cure that will prolong the lifespan of all the men and women in their society.
and as for the sister wives thing. i kinda like it cause how ironic it may seem that Cecily,Jenna and Rhine should hate each other they actually form a camaraderie and well i find it cute cause they treat each other like sisters and get to console each other.
I am anxious to meet rhine's twin brother,Rowan i think he is the only man there that is crush-worthy and the only one that has a backbone like he can stand up for himself unlike Gabriel and Linden.
a YA book is not complete without romance right? so yeah we have a love triangle in this book (surprising right? *sarcastic* ^^) Linden and Gabriel competing for Rhine's love, well i'll actually pick Linden instead of Gabriel but it won't be that exciting to read if love complications doesn't exist, so I'm kinda excited to know how will Gabriel and Rhine love will turn out since they have just escaped from the mansion.
since I'm a book title conscious person meaning i should know why this book's title is like that. so i get the idea of why is the book called wither at first i have no idea why it's called wither. well i kinda get it that it means people slowly deteriorating due to the virus that affect them at the end of their lifespan, and maybe another meaning of wither is the world slowly loosing it's natural beauty cause the word "synthetic" is very evident in this book.

book review originally posted @ the YA bookworm yay! can't believe i have a Blog, haha! a major thanks to Google for tutoring me on HTML codes, LOL. ok,ok enough about me being a noob in blogging and HTML. :>
i decided to read this book cause this book is always featured in listopia (a feature on goodreads) it says that if you like Hunger Games you will like this book as well, since i just finished reading Mockingjay and I'm kinda looking for a YA dystopia kind of book that is as good as The hunger Games so i gave this one a shot.
This book is about in a society where everyone is classified as being Pretty and Being Ugly.the Pretties lives in New Pretty town while the Uglies lives in Uglyville, but as you turned 16, everyone is required to go through a transformation of being Pretty, So our Gal, Tally is anxious to be pretty cause she is excited to be with her bestfriend Peris who just recently undergone the transformation of being a Pretty, but Tally can't become one of the Pretties unless she'll help Dr.Cable to find her runaway friend, Shay. if she refuse to cooperate she will stay as an Ugly FOREVER!
so first thing first, this book is nothing like the Huger Games. i guess the concept of the way the people in the society lives is pretty cool, can you imagine living in a life where you are subjected to be pretty?no one will tease you and make fun of you, but in the back of my mind i find it morbid to defy to change the way we look. i just finished reading the book and up until now i don't get the essence or the author's point on why in this book they have to make everyone pretty. if people in this book just want to control the minds of people in their society, why can't they just do that? why do they have to make them pretty too???
as for the characters, Tally at first i find her annoying cause she is soooo darn desperate to be a Pretty, but as you read on i can't actually blame her for wanting to be pretty cause all her life, her 16 years of existence she is branded as an Ugly and the way they used the term Ugly in this book is like you are an outcast to the society, the term UGLY is being referred as of today being called POOR, while being pretty on the other hand is like being called RICH. I actually like Shay more than Tally. cause Shay is like the kind of girl that is so Katniss-like, i actually thought she is the main character of the book cause she is the one determined to defy the society's law of being pretty, and i like the fact that she likes the way she looks.
i guess the moral of the book is Beauty is skin deep. that's the Moral i got form david and tally's relationship. but i dont feel any spark between them their relationship has no magic effect on me.
i gave this book 2 stars cause it is a tolerable book, some parts are boring and i guess there is no point of the book where i was excited to read it. the ending didn't even make me excited for the next book. so i guess i recommend this book if you just wanted something to read, or you just want to kill the boredom that you are experiencing. ...more
"Love is the most powerful force in the world. That love can do anything." - Jonathan Christopher Lightwood
Imagine a world where love cannot exist or better yet it is considered a sickness... it the thought is kinda absurd but in Lena's world such thing exist, at the age of 18, each ad every people in their society is subjected for the cure, a cure is more like taking away your feelings towards love, thus making your emotions dormant so you won't experience Deliria Nervosa or in my point of view, delria is more like the scientific term for being Madly in love along with the process of being cured is also finding your Match through series of test that you are required to undergo.
this is my second novel from Lauren Oliver, i did enjoy reading before I fall. but this one i didn't enjoy as much. haa! when i first started reading this and reading the concept of the book, I was like "OMG! they found a cure for LOVE! OH MY GOD!" i don't know but the thought of finding the cure for love is like completely ridiculous to me, i just think that love is really, really IMPOSSIBLE to defy! i would have accept it if they found a cure for cancer but NO! they found a cure for love. ay-yay-yay! i know love can make you go crazy and everything but gosh! i mean come on! people can't die out of love! it's more of their choice if they don't wanna move on. (my,my i'm I incredulous of the thought or what?)
another thing that I'm ranting about this book is that it's not really a dystopian novel, not a single thing is futuristic here, just maybe for finding the cure but the setting is nothing dystopian, everything is so chick lit-ish and paranormal romance-ish and Lena and Alex just fall in love with like a snap of fingers like one blink and then BAM! their in love.
on the bright side i did like Lena's character progression in the book, at first we get to see her as this very nice, goody good girl who doesn't know how to take risks but as you read on you will be really impressed on how Lena goes to the wild side, and i just think that such character progression is really impressive cause we get to see the character gets to change within the book, cause some characters takes several book installments before you see some change in them, another thing is the ending. the ending made my heart rate just sky rockted to 10 times , WOW! the ending is just so darn dramatic.
here's my thoughts while reading the book
1st half: meh. 2 stars. 2nd Half: still 2 stars (so certain and sure) Ending: Dang!!!! gosh! Oh MY GOSH! OK another star! gee! gosh! OH MY!
haha! still i never thought the book will end like that, i was taken off guard so i add an additional star for my supposedly rating. hihi *evil grin* I'll read the next one for sure. ...more
i just recently finished the e-novella of this book (the strange case of finley Jayne) and i was really ecstatic forBook review originally posted here
i just recently finished the e-novella of this book (the strange case of finley Jayne) and i was really ecstatic for this book, good thing netgalley grant my request for a copy of this book, gee! a million thanks to netgalley!!! yay! yay!
this book is actually set from the 1800s where girls wore fine and sophisticated dresses and guys are chivalrous and ware tux and a baler hat instead of a shirt and jeans, don't let the setting of the book fool you, the book is not as timid or wholesome as girls and guys from the 1800s act this book is actually filled with action and mystery and it's like classic hits modern kind of thing, and i enjoyed reading this one, every single page is such a ride for me... many things are new to me like automatons and a human androids and i thought i won't be surprised of the flow of the story cause i just read the prequel of the book, but man i was wrong! the conspiracy, the lies, the mystery are just too shocking to take. there was never a boring moment on this book
the characters have a variety of style , each one of them has their own individualism and trait and i really like that they also posses supernatural powers like Finley who has superhuman strength and Griffin who can able to walk through the world of the dead and Emily! oh i really like Emily! she reminds me of Hermione from the Harry Potter series, and also Sam the half man, half machine... i like it that the main characters can somehow be the bad guy (like Sam). and the minor characters of the book is likable also. :)
i gave the book 4 stars cause even though i like the whole book and everything what it's lacking is the romance, sure Emily and Sam take their relationship to the next level, but i never get to see Finley and Griffin take their unrequited love to the next level. aww...
since i like this book, i think i'm gonna explore more books from the steampunk genre, i think i'll try to read the Clockwork Angel by Cassie Clare.
gee! where was I when this book was out? seriously? i've been actually seeing a lot of this book, but i thought this is part of the Strange Angels boogee! where was I when this book was out? seriously? i've been actually seeing a lot of this book, but i thought this is part of the Strange Angels book series, cause the book cover of Defiance is pretty much similar to Inside Out's book cover, since me and YA angels don't get along I ignored this one, hell! i really got to keep on reading book synopsis or make thorough research before I ignored a certain book... oh my! i really regret ignoring this book. sheesh! it's actually been a while since i've read a dystopian novel and i've been actually looking for dystopian books that is as good as Unwind and The Hunger Games Trilogy and guys! i think i finally found another dystopian novel that i'll go crazy for!
first page of the book: a booming action scene.. wow! actually the first part of the book took me off guard, i know action will be present in this book but not that early. goodness! that shocked me in a completely good way. and me being an "adrenaline rush seeker" in each book that i read. i was really ecstatic when the first part of the book is an action scene.
another thing is the book really lived up with the dystopian genre. Everything here is so futuristic from the tools, gadgets, names of people and also the terms in here like the "uppers" and the "lowers" . the uppers will somehow be called today as the rich people with all the perks and privileges while the lowers on the other hands are maybe the less fortunate ones, they are basically stuck on cleaning.
the characters are good too, Trella a.k.a Queen of the pipes, is one kick ass heroine. she is actually being referred as a girl who has no emotion or maybe the kind of girl that is not into sympathizing with her fellow "scrubs", but i like Trella. i like her fierceness and eager determination.
so this will not be actually a one good book if i'm not crushing on some fictional characters... yay! i love Riley.. hihi. my oh my!!! haha. i like him when he talks to sheepy. wow he is so darn cute. haha! *ahem* i now declare that sheep is my favorite animal . meeehhhhh!!!!! LOL
so this is an overall nice book, if you are looking for a dystopian novel this one won't definitely disappoint you! i recommend it to dystopian fans out there. :)
i have never read a book that is about the "steampunk" genre so i'm notreview originally posted here :)
wow! this is one kick ass novella!!!
i have never read a book that is about the "steampunk" genre so i'm not sure what to expect when i was reading this one, but i really really liked this one!
the book is actually set in the 1800s, so more like this book is set in a Victorian Era. we get to meet Finely Jayne, a girl who can't stay on a decent job due to her lack of self control, she actually has a very incredible strength that is highly unusual for a girl.
i don't know but the book is written in a freaky, eerie way cause the novella itself is like retelling of Mary Shelly's Frankenstine, Lord Vincent is soooo freaky.. sheesh! as i've said i'm new to this genre so i don't know what to expect, i guess a steampunk genre is like having modern stuff and victorian stuff combined together, cause in this novella even though it is set in the 1800s some stuff are a bit modern like mechanical horses and automatons, in a way this book reminds me of the anime full metal alchemist...
another thing i like about this book is Finely Jayne is one super bad-ass heroine... wow! would you chase after a mechanical horse to save someone?? can you kick the arse of two creepy hoodlums?? a normal girl will say HELL NO! but finely jayne can! haaaa! i wish i can be as tough as her. LOL
what's so strange about finely jayne?
i really can't put my finger on it, besides the fact that she has a super, extraordinary incredible human strength and she wears steel corset (lol KIDDING), what's really ticking on my mind is what is she??? is she some kind of robot?
i'm excited to read The girl in the Steel Corset to find out more about Finely Jayne... good thing netgalley grant my request for an ARC copy.. yay!...more
OH MY! just finished this very awesome book! haaah! forgive me, my review will be like all over the place, haha! Originally posted @ The YA Bookworm
OH MY! just finished this very awesome book! haaah! forgive me, my review will be like all over the place, haha!
so any-who! i was so excited to read this book, cause i just love, love, love Inside out cause of the booming action scenes and a very realistic futuristic theme of it. thank God Inside out is two times the action and romance and drama! *screams*
in the first book we get to see Trella as this girl who has a very tough exterior like she is not so vulnerable at all, but in this istallment we get to see a "scared" Trella she is actually afraid of responsibility like giving up her place in the comittee cause she thinks that she is not capable enough of leading the Force of Sheep. she never sees herself as a leader of rebellion and she is also scared of commitment, like having a commitment with Riley. *sighs* and i think it's very nice that the author made the readers see Trella's vulnerability and it's nice to know that she is not the kind of person who doesn't sympathize with the people around her.
another thing that i like about this book is that there is a balance of everything like there's a little bit of this and that, it didn't only stick to action but there is also Romance,Humor and a bit of Drama (GOSH! I HYPERVENTILATE ON TRELLA AND RILEY'S SHOWER SCENE) and also there is a lot of twist in the story, the plot leads to the idea that Logan is the Enemy and the outside is actually a place where everyone can be happy and equal again BUT NO!!! the author fooled us. haha!
i like the ending of the story, i actually thought that there is another book for this series, but i guess this would have to be the end, i like how everything is in proper order and equality is restored in the people of inside.
*sighs* this is one hell of a nice book! if you like Inside Out then you will certainly like this one too. :)
I'm Gonna miss SHEEPY!!! haha! XD
OMG!!! i'm gonna buy three stuffed sheep and name them SHEEPY,MAMA SHEEPY and DADA SHEEPY!!haha! XD
Once upon a time there was a girl who was special. Her hair flowed like honey and her eyes were blue as music. She grew up bright and beautiful, with deft fingers, a quick mind, and a charm that impressed everyone she met. Her parents adored her, her teachers praised her, and her schoolmates admired her many talents. Even the oddly shaped birthmark on her upper arm seemed like a sign of some great destiny. This is not her story. Unless you count the part where I killed her.
*** insert the twilight zone theme song here***
when i read the first chapter of ultraviolet i was shocked! the first chapter of the book was actually enough for me to gave it a high rating, in the back of my mind i was screaming 5 STARS! many thoughts are spinning in my mind on why did she kill the girl, i was thinking that maybe she has split personality or maybe she has an evil twin sister, so i was so curious and i don't know but demented kids and twisted murders really fascinates me.
this book is actually about Allison she is confined to Pine Hills Mental institution cause she is a suspect of killing her classmate Tori, but she has no memory of killing her, and she actually possess a different kind of ability wherein she can see different variety of colors that is not visible in the human eye and according to the book it's called Synesthesia. and she can actually sense if someone is lying to her.
while reading this book I was actually scared and confused at the same time, many new ideas about paranormal stuff are introduced here there are a lot of terminologies that i am not familiar with, but nevertheless the book is good i'm just not that in to aliens and too much science fiction are just occurring here. i enjoyed the twist like how the author gave us the idea that people here are crazy but it turns out that Tori wasn't actually dead and Allison didn't actually killed her and Tori is actually is actually an Alien. the ending is nice also very bittersweet
i gave the book 3 stars cause i just like the book, i am not a big fan of aliens i like science fiction books if it's dystopian or utopian, i do recommend this to people who likes Sci-fi books that is about aliens and as far as i can say, this is better than star wars. haha!
Once upon a time there was a girl who was extraordinary. She could hear colors, and see sounds, and taste the difference between truth and lies. But hardly anybody knew that, and she preferred to keep it that way.People thought she’d killed someone, but she hadn’t. They didn’t believe her—some still don’t—but that doesn’t bother her much anymore. Because she has her family and her music and her freedom, and somewhere in the universe is a man with violet eyes who loves her. And deep down, part of her still believes that one day she’ll see him again. This is my story.
I AM VERY LATE READER OF THIS BOOK!!! ARGHH! hahaha!
this book is always compared to the Hunger Games, but when i was reading it i didn't get the similI AM VERY LATE READER OF THIS BOOK!!! ARGHH! hahaha!
this book is always compared to the Hunger Games, but when i was reading it i didn't get the similarties for the following reasons
Reason #1: the heroine is nothing like Katniss Everdeen. In this book we are introduced to Beatrice "Tris", when I first get to meet her in the couple pages of the book. I find her very shy,a Prude and very timid and weak, she is not my ideal heroine. and I can't grasp the idea. that I'll deal with a heroine like her, throughout the whole book
Reason #2: the setting of the story is very Perfect, it is not like the environment introduced by Suzzane Collins on THG. Cause Suzzane Collins introduced us to poverty in THG. The world Beatrice lived in is perfect, and the people are nice also, very "selfless" as they call it.
Reason #3: no Gore or brutality whatsoever in the book.
ok.ok.ok. haha... i have rants (i know,i know) when i first started reading the book,it was good. but it wasn't special, wasn't that spectacular or phenomenal. It's like ermmm... reading (haha) i had doubts that i'll like this book. Everything was so common,so normal i haven't got that BAM moment when i was reading it.
This is me while reading it:
but I eventually changed my mind.HAH!!!!
i go from sad, confused and doubtful to awed, amazed, happy and excited
haaa! i am so sorry that i have a lot of rants at first. *puppy dog Eyes* but this book is awesome!so Bad ass! and coming for a 23 year- old author and this is her debut novel. CRAP! this is genius! ahaha!
what i like about this book is the way Tris progresses as a character she started first as someone that is weak but as she went through all the trainings and tests she eventually blossomed into something admirable, smart and well of course BAD ASS.
the twists were also great. hmmm i really don't know at first what is a "divergent" GOSH! my mind is really reeling with stuff just to come up with a theory on what kind of abilities and skills a divergent possess and why are they a threat... and also it really shocked me on the romance aspect of the book. i was thinking that maybe Tris will end up to her fellow trainees. but it turns out that she end up with *gasps* FOUR! ahhh! (i know his name is Tobias but i prefer to call him Four) haha!
reading Divergent made me all fluffy and light headed even though it talks about rebellion and stuff, while on the other hand Hunger Games when i finished reading it. I got this certain heaviness but in a good way. Both books are awesome. Both has a certain quality that made them distinct from each other.
SO GUYS AND GALS JUST READ THIS! YOU WONT REGRET IT OK?

the book is actually about Emerson who is seeing different people from the past which she thought at first were ghosts and her brother thomas Hired a doctor from the hourglass,Michael. which later on she discovered that Michael possess the same ability as well but instead of seeing people from the past his ability is seeing people from the future.
Cool plot right? wait till you read on! what i appreciate about this book is that the info about time traveling is very concrete, it's very realistic and i can say that the concept of the book is well thought! and Ms. Myra McEntire has a really wild imagination, she even applied Physics in to the book as well, and the reading this is like watching X-men different characters with different superpowers and the superpowers in here is not just the average kind, think of empathy, fire starter, ability to locate things. every single person in this book somehow posses powers that is unutterably unnatural.
at first i am expecting that this book will be like Ultraviolet cause it also kinda deals with mental illness like having hallucinations and having a hot doctor to help the main heroine, so i was thinking that "NOOOO! i don't want aliens! NOOOO!" but as I read on my complains and disapproval of the book just quickly disappear cause of the great characters that is introduced here, i actually like reading Emerson's thoughts which by the way i thought first was a boy, Emerson is like reading this very tough girl the one that won't back down in a fight the kind that is very curious and inquisitive that will do anything just to know the unsolved mysteries even if it will cost her life,i really enjoyed reading her thoughts this book being written in a 1st person POV made it a smooth reading experience for me and i actually don't want the book to end.
5 stars for the book! i wanna read the next one soooooo BAD! even though the ending is not that really exciting , the unanswered questions are really enough to kill me! gah! i wanna know Kaleb *blushes* more. :">...more
oh wow! another ARC grab form Netgalley! _______________________________________________________________________
we are introduced with the Main characoh wow! another ARC grab form Netgalley! _______________________________________________________________________
we are introduced with the Main character Jackson Meyer,he has the ability to jump through time. but he can't change what's in the past he can just Jump back and forth through time. the person he has interacted to in his "jumps" won't be able to remember or recognize him when has came back to his proper year... in other words Jackson has the ability to travel through time without ruining the time and space continuum.
This book is actually really complex for my taste, i feel like I am watching a spy movie when i have read this one. a lot of scientific terms were introduced in this book and i feel also like watching the Movie Back to the Future and Jumpr.
It actually takes a while, for this whole book to get stirring cause the first couple of pages has not much action going just Jackson springing Back and forth through time and all his efforts were gone to waste cause he can't go back to his main year, so there wasn't anything for me to look forward to when i was reading the first part of the book, the romance aspect of the book was not actually i was looking forward to also cause i feel like Jackson and Holly's romance is a bit forced, i feel like they are two teenagers just fooling around without having any commitment at all with each other. I actually feel more touched with Jackson's love for his twin sister,Courtney.
I was surprised that the book gets better as I read on, but the complexity is actually still there cause the characters keep on blabbering about the "tempest", Full Jumps, Half Jumps and so on... But what i really like about the second part of the book is it's depth and drama, cause this book is not just about time travel but it also talks about grief and loss of a family member. it really broke my heart when Jackson went back through time, and stays with her sister in the hospital, he eventually watched his sister die, *SNIFFS* that was for me the main highlight of the book. (SCREW HOLLY X JACKSON) (view spoiler)[ and I am really intrigued to the little girl from the future, hmmmm.. My guess is she is Jackson's daughter (hide spoiler)]
Overall: not that bad... this book is actually great, the ending is also good. another tear jerking part in the book.... i do recommend it for guys and gals that has a taste for Mission Impossible-like plot and also a fan of time travelling. Many of my friends in goodreads seem to like the book so much they even gave it a 5/5 star rating.
the book is actually like X-Men, we met a character named Juliette who seems to have a lethal touch, everything she touch will die. I would just like to say that Juliette is like the first female main character I encountered wherein I actually consider her a SAINT, she is the nicest person i have ever as in EVER have met! who would take blame to something that you didn't do? Juliette will! I was actually expecting a character so provocative and bad ass in this book, cause it seems like Juliette has been through a lot. you can just tell by reading her thoughts on the beginning of the book, I guess i would've consider her CRAZY. Just by reading through her thoughts, and i kinda feel sorry for her. her ability did really make her kinda demented and downright creepy.
as for the plot of the book, well it seems very cliche and everything. Girl meets Boy and Villain secretly fancies the main heroine. ermmm. the middle part of the book was actually a bit exciting, cause i really have no idea how will the story will go on. I was actually making a mental note to myself that I'll actually will give the book 4 stars, but as the story goes on, everything is just so typical. the ending was a bit simple and flat nothing to keep me on the edge and wanting for the next book to come out. I guess the only redeeming factor of the book is the romance aspect of the book. I like Adam and Juliette's intimacy. very wholesome yet will make you pant. :P...more

I have encountered A lot of YA drool worthy boys, like erm... let's see ahm a Hot Vampire *check* , A hot Werewolf *check* , a Hot Shadowhunter *check*, A hot Slayer *check* , A hot faerie *check*( ok,ok stop with the Fangirling) but I have never ever encountred a hot, drool worthy *coughs* Alien!?
Obsidian is the second novel from Jenifer L. Armentrout the author the Covenant series, I am not actually a huge fan of of the covenant series cause the book is the exact same clone of the Vampire Academy series, just different names for the Characters. so I was a bit skeptical if I should read this one, an oh the aliens being gorgeous is kinda intriguing so I was a bit curious so i decided to give this one a try.
the book wasn't much first just the same ole story of a very average girl who happens to bumped along strange creatures. What really caught my attention is that the main heroine has really something in common with me, like duh, she has a book blog and she likes YA books, so yeah the main heroine serves as my anchor when I was reading the book.
But it turns out that the book was great the plot is original, unlike the author's previous one, and I find myself really sucked in to the book, like every page is really gripping and I was introduced to a lot of foreign stuff about aliens cause it seems like i really have zero knowledge about them. It turns out that not all aliens are green and slimy some of them are HOT! oh YES HOT! I mean Daemon is like... like... gosh i have three words for you SWEET.BABY.JESUS! Crap ohhh Crap! hahahaha!
i really like how the book ended I mean a lot of debut book of the series it always end up that the boy always get the girls affection and they live happily ever after, but Obsidian's ending was different, never have I expected that the ending would be like that. HMMM. so i am most definitely looking forward for the next book cause some psychic part of me is saying that it would be filled with A LOT OF STEAMY AND HOT SCENES ***KYAAA***

OOOKKKAAAYYYY!!! there is really not enough words on how much I really like this book, so please bear with my review. I can't really get over with the whole story of the book... *HEAVY SIGH*
this book is about a post apocalyptic world wherein angels are the ones who are destroying our world we are introduced with the main heroine Penryn and her sister page and her very unstable mother.
Of course the book's title speaks for itself that the book would be about angels, but as I first read the first page I just thought the the book would be like Hunger Games cause really, I mean the resemblance is like there. The unstable mom, the tough big sister and the vulnerable little sister, so I was like thinking that maybe the books isn't really about angels, but as I read on a whole new concept of angels were introduced to me, OKAY, so I was Taken aback that angels could like possibly destroy our world, that is like seriously never ever crossed my mind, I know angels are not really the gentle creatures that we know, some YA novels have introduced me to that concept but WOW! THEY ARE LIKE DESTROYING OUR WORLD!! OMG! I was like really shocked. BUT! my hysteria regarding the plot wasn't really a hindrance for me to like this book.
One thing I like about this book is how well it is written, I really feel like I am living in to this destroying kind of world and everything is just so dark and uncertain, another thing is the dialogues of the character. I just feel like the personality that the author feeds us with the characters really matches the dialogue that they are suppose to possess. Like how Raffe really talks like this modern kind of angel and how Penryn gives comments that is well suited to her personality. Another thing is the mash up of the concepts of this book so we have angels , we have aliens, we have dystopia and we have a slight glimpse of the apocalypse ... WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR. Everything is present in this book. and it is a shocker on how well those elements go together. Even though its kinda different that those different kinds of elements are present in this book.
I like this book so much, It just kinda took long for me to read cause I was back to school last week, so things are kinda like pretty hectic. This book is really awesome, and I am encouraging every Young Adult Lit lover out there to read it, cause this book didn't get that much attention. DO READ IT! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
I guess this is one of those books which I just really fell in love with the whole story, I can say that this book is one of those books which i didn't fangirl, but just fell in love completely with the whole book concept. :D...more
this book is really twisted. just when you taught you'll get over the craziness and the goriness oME WHILE READING THIS BOOK:
this book is really twisted. just when you taught you'll get over the craziness and the goriness of the first book. YOU ARE SO DAMN WRONG! I have this impression that this book will be just about blabbering and talking about the AWOL's Rebellion against unwinding but i was so damn wrong. The first part is really really sick! especially the little snippets and the little advertisement on the unwinding. it got me really creeped out! I got this premonition that maybe 50 years from now this is the exact picture of what the world would be like.
Just when I thought I am done with the craziness with this book. It has more surprises that I never thought would come up. I was really irked when there i a modern frankenstine lingering in this book. EWWWW! I HATE CAM COMPRIX! EWWW! I know some girls like him cause he is the sensitive guy in the story. OH MY! I don't like him he is like a freaky stalker with dirty thoughts about killing cats or something, that is how i picture him everytime i read his POV.
The whole book is really AMAZING! I never thought it'll surpass the first one. More sickening things are happening here, and the whole flow of the book is well balanced there's a little bit of everything in every part. I really don't know what to expect on the next book. but I am more interested on Risa's fate. I don't know what will happen to her knowing she ran away and knowing there is a lurking frankenstine following all of her tracks. yay! can't wait for the next book. ! ...more

I cannot really muster the words to describe on how good this book is.
to be honest I am not a huge fan of the first book, i'm not sure I really even liked the clockwork angel. may be because I tend to compare it to TMI. and I just find Jace even more attractive than Will so I really dismiss any memory of the first book.
but this book was different. the next installment of the infernal devices I can tell that this one s filled with passion and longing. OH MY GOD! It really unleashed the fangirl inside me. WOW! the kissing scene between the Tess and Jem and Tess and Will really made me explode! WHOA! it was that hot!
knowing Cassandra Clare. The Queen of all cliffhangers. well this one is no different that her other books. It has a shocking and heartbreaking ending and It leave me longing for the next book.yay!
as for MR. Herondale. don't worry baby I am on your side. you deserve Tessa Gray more than anything. YAY!

the book is filled with blood, gore and graphic violence, which the whole series is known for. but this time it seems really different cause i get to see the characters in this book in a whole new light, and they are progressing in a way that shocked me.
the booked wrapped up with a plot that really keeps me going and would want me to keep on reading the entire seriea until the end. yeah....! let's go find out what will happen to the kids of FAYZ....more

"…death is better because death is the end of fear, isn’t it?
I am absolutely mortified on what I just read, I am a Gone series fan since day 1, and since we are talking about Gone Series it has this elements that makes up it's identity like let's say the gore, it's twistedness and a lot of things that absolutely will just freak every reader. But I don't know what's in this book that made those elements intensified. The book title live up to it's name. I did feel scared and nervous at the same time while reading it. My heart was pounding on every page. I think it was Penny who made the book really scary. The visions she just make just really give me the creeps. what she did to Cigar and Caine is like a work of a psycho unleashed in a mental ward. Her character is the type that gives you nightmares at night. For me she is the cherry on top of the whole book. without her, FEAR is not evident in this book.
But aside from the gore and the book's creepiness I did enjoy reading it, I cannot put it down for the reason that in each page is really captivating it has this snippets where the adults were featured, and I am really just itching what really happened to them I mean .. Hello?? why did they leave Perdido Beach ? where are they?? But somehow maybe just a little bit the mystery was unveiled. Yeah but I still need the last book to really answer all the questions lingering in Perdido Beach. and yeah. Maybe an Evil Baby featured in the book seems somehow interesting. Hahaha... and really shipping Hard ASTRID X SAM and CAINE X DAINA.
I love you. All my heart. Forever. But get the hell out of here, because I can't be watching out for you" -Sam Temple
ooohhh,.. and Sam walking out of the adults is completely bad ass he's like

whAllegiant: The Final book of the Divergetn series has finally come. It's been a year since it was published and I only got a chance to read it now.
what do i think of the last book of the series?? Well let's just say that I should've kept my curiosity of the book at bay. I was not really a huge fan of the last book of the series. But is still manage to gave it 3 stars. The thing is, the whole book didn't pretty much left me anything to hang on to. Like I really don't know the whole shift of the book thing. experiments, new world stuff and serum thingys just doesn't seem to make the book so interesting. A muddle of thoughts are swirling in this book.
Despite the whole uncertainty of the book. It still manage to leave me crying. I know someone will make the "Sacrifice" . all along while reading it I was thinking that it will be Tobias. I mean every YA author always kills the dude. It been a tradition. but this one seems different. The chick made the sacrifice. which by the way I am pretty not much sure if the sacrifice she made was worth it? anyways it is still heart wrenching to see baby Toby suffer beacause he lost the love of his life.
Sad, confused and left me feeling incomplete. That's Allegiant not the best book i've read from the series. considering I loved the First book so much. But yeah thanks to Theo james who awakened the divergent lover inside of me and made me finish the entire book series.
