I didn't think I could love this book more than the first, but I do. In Rides Trouble is the 2nd book in the super hot and sexy Black Knights, Inc. series by Julie Ann Walker. And, in case you can't tell, I loved it!
Becky "Rebel" Reichert has really gotten herself in a jam this time. Hijacked by Pirates. How do these things even happen these days? Lucky for her, she has her own team of badasses and she knows they are on the job. It just sucks that Frank will have even more amunition to arm himself with in his constant bid to keep her at arm's length and see her as a too-young screw-up.
Frank Knight, the head of Knights Inc. and leader of his band of alphas, is out of his mind with worry. Becky has been abducted by pirates. Pirates, for the love of god. He swears that girl can't do anything without getting in trouble. He can think of nothing else, but saving her and then turning her pretty little ass over his knee, and doesn't that just make him sound like a pervert. He can't get past the age difference between he and Becky and has fought his attraction ever since the day he met her. Unfortunately, it's getting harder and harder to hold himself back and it doesn't help that he has a kiss in his memory that keeps drawing him back.
This book has it all! I can not wait to continue on with this series. The more we read the more we get insights into the future badass alphas stories and I can't help, but think each story is going to be better than the one before it.

Hell On Wheels is the first book in the fast-paced, sexy Black Knights Inc series by Julie Ann Walker and I am hooked. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed this series. You think it's a book about motorcycle hotties and you get so much more.
Nate "Ghost" Weller hasn't been the same since the death of his best friend and partner. He blames himself for his death and just can not forgive himself. And now life has just gotten that much more complicated. Ali Morgan, the baby sister of his best friend, has just showed up at the "bike" shop needing help. He's loved Ali pretty much from the day he met her, but knew it was not something that could ever happen. If she ever finds out his part in her brother's death she'll hate him even more than he hates himself and now he's the only one that can save her. He has no idea how he's going to control himself with her around all the time.
"Yes, damn you! Yes, that's why I always keep you at arm's length. Because anytime I get near you, all I wanna do is peel away your clothes, lay y'down on the nearest horizontal surface, and plunge balls-deep inside you until your squirmin' beneath me like a worm on a hook and beggin' me to never stop. There! Y'happy now?"
Ali misses her brother terribly and now trouble has found her. Trouble that she hasn't caused and has really no idea how to handle. She can think of no one else to help her other than the super sexy best friend of her brother, Nate. The problem is he acts like she has cooties and doesn't seem to feel any of the sparks that she feels when she's anywhere near him. And she's quickly learning that her brother's life was not at all what she thought.
I honestly think I have an addiction to bad ass alpha males with surly attitudes. Holy cow! I couldn't read this book fast enough. And it's not done, yet. We have definitely been introduced to some amazing future hotties. Thank you Julie Ann Walker!

Wow, that's all I can say! Forgotten Sins is the first book of the Sins Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti and in the spirit of full disclosure I have to say I have gotten away from anything paranormal or fantasy and really didn't realize this book dipped into that genre or I probably wouldn't have read it. I am so glad that didn't happen. I loved this book so much!
Josie fell in love and married Shane Dean after a brief and passionate romance. Their marriage was hot and everything she could have asked for. Well, almost everything she could have asked for. Shane wasn't forthcoming about his life outside of her and their marriage. She always chalked it up to his military career and so much being top secret and decided it was something she could live with. At least, that was the case until one day he left and never came back.
Now, 2 years later the hospital has called her stating Shane is their. Lieing in the hospital bed, Josie realizes that sure enough it's her long lost husband and it's time she had some answers. Sadly enough, the chances of her getting answers anytime soon just aren't going to happen. Shane has a severe case of amnesia and remembers nothing. This is a particular problem for many reasons, one of which is trouble is following the couple and Shane can't seem to remember why.
Josie just wants to be safe, get answers and move on with her life. Shane just wants to find out about his past, protect Josie and convince her to give him another chance. He doesn't remember their marriage, but he can feel the attraction pulling at him anytime they're around each other.
"You're the only woman I've ever loved." He couldn't live without her. Didn't want to. "I'm selfish, Josie. Life is hard, and I don't want to fight it without you."
This isn't your typical fantasy read. It doesn't have your "everyday" paranormal characters. Because of this I think this story will appeal to any and everyone who wants a hot, military romance. I can't wait for the next book in this story.

I loved this book! Vertigo by Gwenan Haines was such a great read. I’m not the type of person that loves a good suspense book. They typically drive me crazy. I find myself trying to figure things out throughout the book and getting so annoyed with all they cryptic scenes that it steals the enjoyment for me. This book had it’s share of cryptic characters and scenes, but it was so worth it.
Blake Cartwright is turning 30 and turning over a new leaf. She’s tired of the hustle and bustle of her big city life. So, what’s a girl to do? She gives up her job as an attorney and buys a broken down home, sight unseen in another state, to turn it into an Inn. Now, she’s wondering what she’s gotten herself into. Huh! The house is in worse shape than she thought and it’s haunted. She’s not one to believe in the paranormal, but she is seeing unexplainable things. Thank goodness, a man just happens to show up at her house that can help her out with the repairs. Her instincts are telling her that something is just not right about who he claims to be, but with all the mystery surrounding her these days it’s hard to know what to believe.
Declan Hunter (is that not the best name ever?) is a retired navy seal posing as a local handyman. He has his reasons for keeping who he really is a secret and has never suffered a pang to his conscious over it. So, what is it about Blake Cartwright that makes him willing to risk it all?
I enjoyed the characters a lot! Blake came across as an intelligent woman who has no problems standing up for herself. Yet, she asked for help when she needed it and had no problems admitting when she was in over her head. Declan was hot! Oh yea, he was a great guy, too. I seriously, can’t control myself from falling in love with a guy that can wield a gun like nobody’s business, protect me and change a diaper.
I have to admit I picked out the “bad guy” pretty quickly, but the supporting characters in this dastardly plot were a little bit harder for me to pick out. It was definitely quite a trip to get to the who, how and whys.
I would like to thank Gwenan Haines for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Outlaw Lawman is the first book I've read by Dolores Fossen, but it will definitely not be my last. I loved this book! It's actually the 3rd book in the series and I'm sorry to say I haven't read the first 2. I will be soon, though. You can easily read this book independently. I didn't feel like I was missing anything by having not read the series in order.
Texas Marshall Harlan McKinney's life is about to become all kinds of crazy. He and his "brothers" were abused repeatedly at the home they grew up in, yet they stuck together through it all. Becoming men of law to protect the innocent just seemed like the logical next step for them. Just recently the man responsible for their years of abuse has been found, or at least his body has. Everyone is a suspect. Afterall, when he disappeared their life got a whole lot better. They went to live with Kirby, who taught them what it was like to be loved and how to be good men. His past is not something he likes to dwell on, so all this dredging up things he'd rather have stayed buried is not what he would call fun. He has one good memory from his past and he hasn't seen her since he was 16. She's back and has a whole lot of trouble on her shoulders. Can he overlook the past hurts she's caused and keep them both safe? Apparently, his body can if nothing else. The sparks are still there.
Caitlyn Barnes is running scared. She's receiving very threatening letters and she has no doubt they are real. Who they are from is a little more suspect. They share very personal information that no one else would know, other than the man she lost her virginity to, and she hasn't spoken to him as a friend since they were 16 and living in a home for troubled kids that no one else wanted. After leaving the home she didn't look back. She doesn't really believe that Harlan would send her those threatening letters, but she had to investigate to be sure. She offended her past love by writing a damaging article on him and his brothers as lawmen and now, she needs his help. In her heart she knew he would always be there for her, but she didn't expect that same attraction to come flooding back.
This book was so good! The drama and intrigue was perfectly written. I suspected the one "bad" guy, but then was blown away by the way it all panned out.
Caitlyn had this really sweet, little tattoo on her hip with Harlan's initials. I am not normally one that thinks getting a man's name or initials is a great idea, but this was so sweet and lovely.
"You had my initials tattooed on your body?"....."Hey, a girl's first time is a big deal, and I didn't have enough money to put your whole name there."

I so look forward to every new release in the In Death series by J.D. Robb. Calculated in Death, the 36th book in this series, did not disappoint. It’s set in the future, but not over the top futuristic. You don’t have to be a fan of fantasy or even like it to like these books. As a matter of fact, you can dislike anything fantasy and have no problems with this series.
Eve Dallas is a homicide detective in New York set in 2060(ish). She solves crimes in her signature badass, no nonsense style, while being supported by a wonderful cast of friends. Roarke is pretty much the master of the universe. He is rich, sexy, smart and more than badass in his own rights. He always knows what Eve needs, even before she knows and makes sure that she has it. Roarke alone makes you remember that you are reading fiction. There is no man as perfect as Roarke, yet you fantasize about him just the same.
I happen to prefer this series in audio format. I am sure it’s perfectly fine in print, but Susan Ericksen is the master when it comes to narration. I enjoy her as much as I do the story itself. Each character is brought to life as Ms. Ericksen reads. I honestly believe no one else could read Roarke the way she does. As you are listening to his sexy Irish brogue, you forget it’s a woman reading his part and find yourself falling in love and wishing he could be yours.
Eve Dallas is back at it, again. A body of a woman is found at the bottom of stairs stripped of her coat and valuables. In true Eve Dallas fashion this case isn't a simple open and shut. She soon finds this homicide is connected to power and money. As the homicides begin to pile up she depends on the help of her partner, trusty E-team, and her very, sexy expert consultant. Meanwhile, she is expected to attend the movie premier that was based on a previous case that Eve worked. Anyone that knows Eve knows that she would rather be chasing bad guys than dressing up and attending a fancy event.
Pretty much all the characters had a part in this book. It’s so fun to see where they are today and how their lives are progressing. It’s like revisiting friends. I look forward to book number 37.

Oh my goodness, I loved this book. Fugitive is the 8th book in the Heroes for Hire series by Shirlee McCoy. Now, I've not read any of the books from the first 7, so I can't say how this book was in comparison to the others, but I can say it was amazing as a stand alone read.
Laney Jefferson escaped her abusive parents and moved on with her life thanks to her childhood friend Logan Randal. There friendship was based on misery, abuse and the need to leave that life behind. And that's exactly what she did. She got away, married a sweet, older man and never looked back - not even to check up on her old friend. Cancer took her husband and her father died in prison and now she's back in the town that it all started. She's just getting the house cleaned out and put on the market, then she can go back to her life far, far away from the horrible place that haunts her nightmares.
Sometimes the worse things we've ever lived through make us the best people we could ever hope to be.
Logan may have helped Laney escape, but he didn't give himself the same luxury. He didn't blame the town for the tortures heaped on him when he was a child. He knew who was to blame and had no problem holding that person responsible. He became a well respected sheriff and was the reason that Laney's father was convicted for his crimes. Now, his whole life has been flipped upside down and he's running out of options quick. Convicted of a crime that he didn't commit he found himself being transported to prison with little hope of declaring his innocence. Things just got worse - his transport was forced into an accident, the deputy transporting him was shot and he's on the run. What are the chances that he would happen upon Laney and she would be the help that he needed.
Nothing happens by chance. I was put in your life for a reason. This is it.
I am not always a huge fan of romantic suspense, but this book was great! The characters were well developed and even had some fun banter between all the suspense and drama. The book was labeled romantic suspense, but was pretty light on the physical romance. Honestly, I think it could fall into a christian romance genre, too. There was mention of scripture in a few places and the characters often spoke of their faith. Logan and Laney slowly felt their way around a new attraction. It was sweet and done well. I highly recommend this book!

But, since I enjoyed it so much in print version I figured what the heck? I would go ahead and finish it in audio. I'm glad I did. It's not often I get to do an audio versus print comparison. I can honestly say that this book is great in either form.
Meg Galloway is a crazy bush pilot in Lunacy Alaska. Being abandoned by her beloved father and raised by an attention hungry, needy mother has made her very independent and pragmatic. To her things are black and white. You have a need? Fill it. Don't sit around feeling sorry for yourself and don't expect someone else to do it for you.
Nate Burke is the new Sheriff to Lunacy. Coming from the lower 48 he's an automatic outsider and not to be trusted. A few of the townspeople are friendly enough, but he has a long ways to go to prove himself. Now, a body has turned up and Nate is in the position to find the decades old murderer and no one in town is free of suspicion.
This book becomes interesting when Meg and Nate hook up as a couple and to solve the murder. Meg was a bit brash for my tastes in many scenes, but in others endearing. I think this is more of a personal taste. I like strong heroines, but not in your face. There were times when she was in your face. However, Nate and Meg played off of one another really well. Nate was a great hero. I loved just about everything about him.

I didn't find it rushed at all and I never felt short changed on the story.
Carley Morgan has lived a life of crime. She's the best thief in the business and makes no apologies for it. Her chosen career doesn't make her a bad person. Quite the contrary. She's a great sister and will do anything for her, including joining forces with a detective when her sister turns up missing.
Hunt Brandon is walking a fine line. Working undercover to bust a human trafficking ring he needs to keep his eye on the big picture and he has no problem doing this. That is until a certain thief shows up in his home acting all mysterious. All he can think of is Carley and what she could do to his career if he's discovered helping her. It scares him even more what she could do to his life if he lets her walk away.
I would say my biggest frustration is the 2 main characters never made me feel like they couldn't live together. The words said it, but I never felt it. This was an enjoyable read. It's not one that sucks you in and won't let go, but enjoyable nonetheless.

If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones is a terrifyingly, hot, suspenseful read that leaves you craving so much more. The story is expertly written and the characters are deep and well developed. Being the first book of the Inside Out Trilogy we are left waiting to get the answers we need to all the deep, dark secrets of this trilogy.
Sara McMillan finds herself in the possession of a storage unit. Her friend bought the unit and then was whisked away by her fiancé, leaving the unit and all the contents to Sara. She comes across journals written by Rebecca the original owner of the unit and soon finds herself enthralled by the sexy, addictive, dark life of BDSM that Rebecca writes about. Convinced something has happened to Rebecca, Sara sets out to find her and either help her or return her items. She follows the first trail to the art gallery that Rebecca worked at and quickly finds herself accepting a summer job to step in for Rebecca while she’s “away”. She soon finds herself over her head in so many different situations you can barely keep up. Her boss, Mark Compton, is an amazingly hot control freak and is immediately assumed to be the star of Rebecca’s journals. The sexual undercurrent between the pair is palpable even in print. Throw in the Chris, the famous, sexy, artist, that has taken a huge interest in Sara and the animosity between Chris and Mark and this book is positively scorching.
“If you think the guy trying to protect you instead of walk all over you is the one trying to run your life, you’re just as fucked up as I am”
In this book, Sara has an amazing affair with Chris and they begin to explore a relationship. Both have tons of scars and are loathe to share. Together they are different. Sara is able to let go with Chris and let him take complete control of her body and pleasure in a way that she has never been able to do in the past. Chris looks to Sara for more than a quick romp and then move on. Something about her draws him and he tries so hard to warn her away from himself and Mark, saying they are dangerous to her.
“Be warned, Sara. I’m no saint. If I take you upstairs, I’m going to strip you naked and fuck you the way I've wanted to since the moment we first met.”
There is a huge cliff hanger at the end, which kills me. But, that is not the only suspense in this book. At the end of this book, you are left with tons more questions than answers. This is so frustrating, yet the book is so good that you are willing to wait it out.
I would like to extend a giant thank you to Lisa Renee Jones for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Sullivan siblings Malachi, Gideon and Rebecca are searching for their lost fate. Passed down from generation to generation by their great great grandfather. One night it was stolen from Malachi Sullivan and the family is on a mission to get it back.
Working with family members who may know or have some knowledge of the whereabouts of their fate or the remaining two they form alliances and relationships that were not foreseen. Lives and hearts are at risk in every turn.
I enjoyed this book. In some parts it became too busy requiring me to read back and see what character went with what fate, etc. It could almost have been split into a trilogy, each book showcasing each sibling. However, the ending helped to explain the reason for one book. Overall, I would say a very good book!

It is not at all the empty fluff that I remember of Nora Roberts. This book has romance, but more. There was suspense, banter, sadness, betrayal, acceptance, and lots of depth. Elizabeth Fitch is a genius. But, of course she is, her mother designed her that way. As far back as she can remember (and she can remember a lot. She has a photographic memory) her mother has made it clear that she was the product of a carefully selected sperm donor, so that she would display the best traits in all areas..intelligence, beauty and physical health. She was 16 and pre-med at Harvard because her mother said she would be. One night in a fit of defiance Elizabeth decided to rebel. She met a girl at the mall who decided to be her partner in crime. She helped Elizabeth buy clothes(not her mom's styles), she taught her to put on make up and how to act. In return Elizabeth made them fake ID's, so they could go to a club that night. They meet up with some guys at the club and because of too much alcohol decide to go back to the man's home. This is where life is forever changed for Elizabeth. She witnesses 2 murders and is on the run.
12 years later Elizabeth is living a quiet, solitary life in the Ozarks as Abigail Lowery. She just wants to be left alone to live her life and stay in hiding. Unfortunately, in a small town that's the quickest way to catch the eye of everyone. She certainly has caught the eye of police chief Brooks Gleason. Tired of admiring her from afar he introduces himself and quickly senses that she is hiding something. Brooks finds himself echanted with her and at every chance wanting to be a part of her life more and more. The cop in him can't resist the mystery that is Abigail Lowery. But, the man in him just wants her to be his.
I really, really recommend this book. I listened to it in audio and it was fantastic. The narrator, Julia Whelan is amazing! I absolutely loved how she made each character come alive. I will definitely be giving Miss Roberts another try.(less)

Sadie Townsend aka the Ice Princess is living a very lonely life. Her father, a well known, mostly feared and despised, drug lord, is in prison. It would come as a surprise to him and everyone else that he is there with her help. She’s never approved of his life and didn’t enjoy the fruits of his labor, as so many assumed. Now, that he is safely out of her life she can keep a low profile and just enjoy her quiet, albeit lonely life running her gallery. It would be nice to have friends, but how could anyone ever like her once they found out who her father is? Unfortunately, rivals of her fathers are making a play for his business now that he is out of the picture. Taking Sadie is part of that plan. She fears for her life and safety, for good reason and has no choice but to go to Nightingale Investigations for protection. This takes her right to Hector Chavez, the undercover ex-cop that infiltrated her father’s business and took him down.
Hector Chavez gave up his undercover DEA job after taking down Seth Townsend taking a job with Nightingale Investigations. He had his reasons and no one would doubt they were good ones. Enter Sadie Townsend, the daughter of the man he put away and the woman he’s never been able to get out of his head. Sadie is in danger and he wasn’t there to help her when she needed him the most and it won’t happen, again. Guarding her body and saving her life is the least of his jobs. Somehow, he has to convince her that she is worthy of love and friendships no matter who her father is. More importantly, he has to convince her that she is the woman for him, not because of revenge or a sense of duty.
I’m gonna say this once so pay attention. I’m not passin’ the time here, enjoyin’ a sweet, hot piece for the fuck of it. If you don’t get it yet, I’ll give it to you. What we got, it means somethin’. Do you understand?
In this book we don’t get just the wonderfully, entertaining Rock Chicks/Hot Bunch gang. We, also, get the wonderful Buddy and Ralphie. I loved how they all dealt with Sadie’s insecurities when it came to having friends and deserving them. They gave her just the right amount of patience and attitude. Everyone should be blessed with friends like these.
What happens to you happens to you but, in a way, it also happens to the people around you that care about you.
This is the best series! As in all series, some books are better than others. This was my absolute favorite, yet. I have said that before, so you know this one had to be great to top my past favorites. I absolutely can’t wait for the next book to come out. Thank goodness, it should be soon.

Stop the presses (I've always wanted to say that) I have found my favorite Rock Chick book. Of course, this could change by the time I read the next one and I am sure I will declare my love in a similarly dramatic way, but Luke and Ava have my loyalty thus far.
Ava Barlow has sworn off men. I mean let's face it, if there is a lying, cheating, no good man in the vicinity she'll find him. Even her own father left and he was the one ally she had in her home. There is only one man that has ever been perfect in her eyes and she just doesn't fit with him. She's even lost 75 pounds and completely reinvented herself to feel worthy of him. However, in her mind this still isn't enough. Unfortunately, she has to face him and ask for his help. Her best friend is married to a cheating, slimeball and she needs to find proof.
Luke Stark was the boy next door to Ava Barlow. He was the one person she could lean on and she was that one person for him. It never got any further than friendship because he left home and left her all alone with her judgmental mother and sisters. Now he is an esteemed member of the Savage hot bunch and can help her when no one else can. He always liked that Ava was different than the rest of the women in her life. She was witty and funny and sweet. He liked her no matter her weight. Now, he just has to convince her that there is no such thing as her being good enough for him. He loves and wants her for who she is.
"I'm not lettin' you go. I'm not lettin' you push me away and I'm not giving up. I'm gonna keep working until I piece together what your Dad and those assholes tore from you. I'm gonna keep at you until you let me in. I'm not gonna stop until you tell me you're mine, until it comes straight from your mouth, preferably when I'm deep inside you and you're lookin' at me like you look at me when I'm close to makin' you come."
Rock Chick Revenge is the 5th book in the Rock Chick and series and it has it all. Luke Stark is one sexy, alpha male. His patience and undeniable love for Ava is impossible to resist. There were times when Ava got to me a bit, because she refused to believe she was worthy of Luke. I get body issues and I understood her insecurities, but I felt she held on to them a bit too long. About halfway through I totally got over it. She redeemed herself in every way. Read this book! You won't be disappointed.

I admit this was not my favorite book of the series, but I still loved it. Keep in mind, it's all in comparison. Kristen Ashley is the master and nothing can top her. Had this been the only book of hers that I've ever read I would be screaming from the rooftops how great this book is. In comparison to her other books I can say it was very good, just not my favorite.
Vance Crowe is Lee Nightingale's top tracker and one hot, sexy, badass dude. He can be alone for hours following a lead or catching a skip. Enter a beautiful, little vigilante that has more skill and courage than brains and fear and his world is forever changed. Lucky for both of them that Vance is strong enough to know what they need even before she does.
Julie "The Law" Lawler is a social worker by day and a pain in the ass of the drug world by night. Befriending a group of 3 boys at the shelter she works for has defined her life. When she loses one of the boys to the drug world her life has changed. This earns her their respect and protection. Vance wants to give her more than just his protection, but she hides so much of herself. Finally there is something that scares The Law. "Yeah. Me fucking you. In your bed, on your couch, in my bed and anywhere else I can think of. I'm gonna do you on your back, on your knees and you're gonna ride me.
