For those of you that have read Countermeasure by Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey you have to read this book. I can not tell you how many books that I've finished and just wished I had a little more of what happens next. Ecstasy by the Sea is that book. The Bytes of Life series could be read independently of the Countermeasure series, but I would advise reading them as companions.
In Ecstasy by the Sea we get a peek at Trevor and Cassandra's wedding and their move to Ireland. I loved the descriptions of how Bob is stepping up to be the dad that he should have always been. Trevor is so sweet and works so hard to surprise Cassie with an unexpected honeymoon. Their love comes across even more in this short story and the scenes are a ton hotter.
I can not wait to read more on this couple and the characters that make up the Countermeasures series.
Holy Hot birthday presents! Cuffed at Midnight is a companion novella to the Countermeasure series by the fabulous writing duo of Chris Almeida and CeHoly Hot birthday presents! Cuffed at Midnight is a companion novella to the Countermeasure series by the fabulous writing duo of Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey. For anyone that has ever read a book and just wondered what happens next these companion novellas are the perfect solution. I am loving the Bytes of Life companion books.
This book is narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds. I thoroughly enjoy Tim's narration of Trevor. He does an equally good job with Cassie. And kudos to him for reading these hot and spicy scenes so well. There are times that I can read a good sex scene, but listening to it is uncomfortable. Not in this case at all. So good!
In Cuffed at Midnight Cassandra is at a loss for what to get Trevor for his birthday. This is his first birthday with them as a couple and she wants to make it special and memorable. And boy does she. Expect edible body oils, cuffs, and lots of down and dirty sex. Trevor's reaction to his gift was hugely intoxicating. I swear my ears were sweaty by the time I was done listening to this story.

To Russia With Love is the second book of the Countermeasure series. I love this series and loved Countermeasure (book #1). I honestly didn't think it was possible, but I loved To Russia With Love even more. I could not get enough of the amazing characters that make up the cast of this book. Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey do things a little differently and I am a huge fan of their methods. First they offer the Bytes of Life companions that give you just a little more insight and bring you that much closer to the characters. Then, they give you two great romances and a mystery within a mystery all in this fantastic second installment.
In this book, Cassandra and Trevor are married and moved from the US to Ireland, so that they can better investigate the real reason behind the disappearance of Trevor's parents a few years before. The authorities have closed the case and ruled his parents dead even though no bodies have been recovered. Being able to listen into one's private conversations tend to come in handy. Trevor overhears a conversation stating that they have a paper written by his father. In an attempt to buy this paper Trevor is given a different task. If he can recover the highly sensitive information that was stolen from this man's company he will turn over the papers.
This missing information, if decrypted by the wrong people, could be really bad for the entire world. As luck would have it the Russian mafia has the information and they just need the right geek to figure it out for them. I loved that this storyline completely took our characters out of their comfort zones. Trevor was the one on the front lines just trying to survive, so he can get back to the woman he loves and poor Cassie was relocated to the role of behind the scenes support running data and praying for Trevor's safety. She still had her moments where she got to show off her super badass ex-CIA self, though.
Meanwhile, back in Ireland Jessica is settling in as much as she can. When Cassie offered her a position working for them Jessica jumped on it. She missed her friend terribly, but if she is being completely honest Stephan played a big part in her decision to move, as well. They had one hot kiss the night of Trevor and Cassie's wedding, yet Jessica hasn't been able to think of anything else.
Stephan has no intentions of ever settling down or even staying in a relationship too long. This rule is set in stone even if Jessica is now living in Ireland and he can't quit thinking about the way she made him feel after just one kiss. The attraction is there, but Stephan knows she is too young and deserves things that he can never give her.
I love Stephan! The pain he has tried to bury has dictated the way he looks at life and relationships. Yet, it's never made him bitter or unkind to women even if it has made him hold a huge part of himself back. I love how Jessica knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it. I can't think of any couple that deserve a happily ever after more than these two.
I highly recommend To Russia With Love and all of the books in this series to anyone that enjoys romance and intrigue. I can not wait to read more and to get that much closer to finding out what happened to Trevor's parents.

Countermeasure is the first book of the Countermeasure series and my first read by Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey. It will not be my last! This book has it all - intrigue, smart characters, a sizzling attraction, sexual tension and amazing supporting characters. This book is definitely not light and fluffy. The characters are so well-developed that you "feel" right along with them. The story has depth and emotion that sucks you right in and leaves you begging for more.
This book was narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds and he was so good! Tim's smooth narration made it a joy to just listen to him. Trevor is originally from Ireland and Tim did a very good job with the Irish brogue. I will definitely listen to more books that have been narrated by this gentleman.
Trevor lost his parents under what he considers questionable circumstances. They went off on a sailing trip and never came back. Their boat was found with no sign of his parents. After a brief investigation the case was closed citing a joint suicide or accidental drownings. Trevor knows better, but without further clues finding out what really happened is on hold. As an NSA analyst Trevor is privy to private conversations. It's his job to eavesdrop. When a conversation passes his way that mentions the name of his parent's boat Trevor can't help, but delve further to see if it leads to information on his parents. In doing so, he has bought himself the attention of ex-CIA agent Cassandra James. Attention that will forever change his life.
Cassandra James left the CIA after getting shot in the line of duty. She lost all faith and trust in her fellow agents. Trust isn't exactly something that comes easy to her as it is. She's now working for her dad in his securities business. She's long since given up on making him love her and would settle for making him proud at least once. But, then the unthinkable happens. He finally gives her the lead for a top-client in making sure the drug that they are developing is secure only to have all of the data stolen right from under their noses. Kicked off the case and having shamed her father Cassandra goes at finding the data and getting it back herself. Her private investigation leads her to Trevor, but not in the way she thought. She first suspected him of guilt, but now has enlisted him as her partner.
When Trevor and Cassandra stop dancing around one another the sparks fly. I love how Trevor owns his feelings and puts them out there. Cassandra has huge trust issues and this spills over to her love life as well. She knows one thing for sure that she will never trust her heart to anyone. It destroyed her father when her mom died and left him unable to even show Cassandra love. She will never give anyone that much power over her. Or at least that's what she thinks. Trevor has different ideas and he's a force to reckoned with.
I like romantic suspense, but it's a love/hate relationship. I go crazy the entire book trying to figure out who did it and don't enjoy the book as I should. That was not the case with this story. Cassandra and Trevor just sucked me in and I was along for the ride. I thoroughly enjoyed this whole story.

This book took me by surprise. I am not a huge fan of romantic suspense. I spend most of the book trying to figure it out and can't just relax and enjoy. When offered the chance to review this book I read the blurb and gave it a ton of thought. There was just something that called out to me. Never having read Alexi Lawless before it saddens me to think I could have missed out on all that this author and book is. Ms. Lawless never goes for the easy and obvious attempts to suck you into the intrigue. It's a slow burn that appeals to your intelligence, as well as your sense of adventure. The characters are well developed and multi-dimensional without being an open book. Hence the intrigue.
The Romance: Jack is used to having women fall at his feet. Not only is he very wealthy, but he's sexy as hell and pretty charming to boot. But, he's met his match when Samantha Wyatt moves in. She's all kinds of badass and mysterious. When this couple comes together sparks fly. In and out of the bedroom. Samantha has huge issues that she has yet to work through, so she runs hot and cold quite a bit. Jack, for the first time in his life, is head over heels and not sure how to handle all of the secrets that Sam has.
The Characters: I loved these characters so much. The secondary characters were just as great! I didn't feel like Jack ever came across as cocky, even though he pretty much had the world at his fingertips. He showed great vulnerability without losing his hot as hell masculinity. Samantha was not nearly as good at showing vulnerability, but she never came across as too hard or harsh. I loved that she had no problems celebrating her femininity all the while capable of bringing a grown man to his knees without breaking a sweat. Sam's friends and the men that worked for her were amazing! They made the story. Their humor and approach to their job and life was great to read. Jack's Italian family was hilarious. They were accomplished and well-known, yet never uppity or entitled.
I have only one complaint about this story - the cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers. Typically, I think they show a lack of confidence on the author's part in her story and writing abilities. If this is the case with this story, Ms. Lawless have no fear your writing more than speaks for itself. No cliffhangers necessary. If this isn't the case, then please, please, please have mercy and don't torture me with the next one. Don't let the cliffhanger stop you from reading this book! Believe me you'll kick yourself if you miss out on Complicated Creatures.

Festive in Death is the 39th book of the romantic suspense In Death series by the awesome J.D. Robb. Honestly, I have no idea how she does it. They just keep getting better and better. The In Death series is set in the future featuring Eve Dallas as a homicide detective and the eclectic team that helps her solve the fantastically interesting and sometimes strange cases that come across her desk. Thrown in with the whodunit is the added fun of seeing Eve stumble through the world of wealth and power thanks to her “richer than God” and super sexy husband Roarke. Eve is called to a crime scene where a personal trainer is found dead in his home. The more she and her partner Peabody delve into the case the more they find that the victim, Trey Ziegler, is not a nice person. It seems that the victim will do anything for wealth and power including rape and blackmail. Eve and her team go up against the elite and wealthy trying to find anything to help them find the murderer. Being a terrible person does not stop Eve from giving the case her absolute best and her absolute best is what she gives.
While investigating the case Eve is also trying to stay on top of things. After all it’s Christmas in New York and as the wife of Roarke their annual Christmas party is a must. If you’ve read the previous books in this series or even just a few of them you see that Eve is getting much better at the social niceties as well as settling into being a wife. I love Roarke and his patience with Eve. He seems to know what she needs and refuses to let her be her own worst enemy. I love that Eve is such a strong kickass character, but has someone to take care of her even though she often fights it. Roarke couldn’t be any sexier. With his sexy brogue, Irish good lucks, bottomless pockets, protective, and thoughtful nature he is quite possibly the perfect man. He’s definitely perfect for Eve.
Ms. Robb you have done it again with another great Eve Dallas book.
This is my first Laura Wright book and I am hooked! Branded begins The Cavanaugh Brothers series - a series I have 4.5 stars
Hotness Rating 4 out of 5
This is my first Laura Wright book and I am hooked! Branded begins The Cavanaugh Brothers series - a series I have really high hopes for. The Cavanaugh brothers suffered a terrible loss at a very young age. This tragedy and the hell that followed shaped them into the men that they are now. Branded gives us a peak at all of the brothers, but is essentially Deacon Cavanaugh's story.
Deacon Cavanaugh left the family ranch just as soon as he was old enough. He loved the land so it wasn't a decision made lightly. But, his hate for his father outweighed that love and still does. He's done well for himself and over the years has tried repeatedly to buy the family ranch, so that he could destroy the childhood that's haunted him. Now, his father is dead and Deacon is coming home to claim his part of the family ranch and convince his brothers to sell out their shares. This shouldn't be too hard. He knows they are haunted by the same ghosts as Deacon. He's ready to end it all and finally move on with his life, but a certain young lady from his past has other ideas.
Mackenzie Byrd pretty much grew up on the Cavanaugh ranch. As the best friend of the only female Cavanaugh and having a not so great childhood herself the ranch was her salvation. So, after their world was turned upside down and the Cavanaugh boys moved away Mackenzie was thrilled to be asked to stay on as a ranch hand and later the foreman. The late Mr. Cavanaugh was like a father to her and Mackenzie would not let Deacon or anyone else destroy the ranch and all she's worked for. She's ready for a fight and prepared to do just that. However, she's not prepared for the jolt that she gets when faced with Deacon. She thought her old childhood crush was gone along with everything else that was lost.
The characters in this book were so well-written. I'm not a fan of romantic suspense because I hate the secrets and questions. It drives me crazy trying to figure everything out and I can't just enjoy the story. This was not the case at all with Branded. The intrigue and mystery is there, but it's not drawn out to the point it takes away from the present story. Kudos Ms. Wright! I can not wait to read more on the Cavanaugh Brothers. And of course, learn what actually happened all those years ago.

Tennessee Takedown is the first Lena Diaz book that I have had the good fortune to read and hopefully it won't be my last. I loved, loved, loved this book! The pace was fast, the characters were likeable, and the plot was fun to read.
Ashley Parrish is an auditor. She loves her job! It gives her the chance to travel to different companies, do her job and then move on. She never thought she would be in the position that her current job has put her in - hiding under a desk while a gunman is shooting people all around her. Making out of that whole thing alive was nothing short of a miracle. A miracle by the name of Dillon Gray.
Dillon Gray took a huge risk ignoring his chief's command and charged into the building to take down the gunman that was shooting innocent people. He just couldn't wait and let more people die. By all accounts it seems that Ashley is the primary target and it's his job to find out why, find the killer, and keep her safe in the meantime. Keeping his hands to himself may be even more of a challenge.
This book was provided to me by NetGalley.com in exchange for my honest review and I'm so happy it was. I love when I read a new author and immediately fall in love. Lena's style of writing just draws you in and won't let loose. I really, really hope to read more by this author.

Wild Ride is the fifth book in the smoking hot Black Knights Inc. series by the talented Julie Ann Walker. This book was the one I was looking forward to reading the least, I think. Of course, it turned out to be one of my favorites. In this story, we finally get to learn what has made Bill so angry and gruff with Eve. Even better we get introduced to more of the alpha hotties that make up BKI. I can’t wait to get to know each and every one of these guys.
Eve was raised with wealth and privilege. Instead of her background making her act haughty and entitled she is the opposite. Eve allows people to dictate her life and walk all over her and her father is the worst. But, things are changing. Eve is tired of never sticking up for herself. She’s been taking self-defense classes and her instructor has been helping her work on being more assertive. However, even Eve knows that no amount of assertiveness can help her now. Someone is trying to hurt her and the police refuse to give her concerns any serious consideration. The only person she can turn to for help is the one man that hates her the most.
William “Wild Bill” Reichert has held a grudge against Eve Edens for most of his adult life. He knows it’s time to let the past go and move on, but every time he’s near Eve he is assaulted with all of the pains and hurts of old. It doesn’t make it any easier that Eve gets even more beautiful every time he sees her. And as his sister’s best friend he sees her much more than he would like to. Now, she’s in trouble and needing his help. He would never let a woman get hurt when he could stop it, even if she did tear his heart out, but it doesn’t stop him from wishing that anyone other than him could help her.
Eve is as sweet as can be and I loved how she worked so hard to be a stronger, more assertive Eve. Her little speeches to herself made me smile. The fact that she was so willing to just accept all blame and take responsibility for what happened was refreshing and just highlighted what a truly good person she was. When Bill would let his anger slip he was so protective and good. There was no way anyone could have resisted him.
I don’t think I have ever rooted for a couple to get their act together and see what lies in front of them as much as I did for this couple. Thankfully, there wasn’t a lot of unnecessary self-inflicted drama (that drives me crazy). Nope. This poor couple has been at the mercy of Eve’s family for years and neither had any idea. I loved how the secondary characters involved themselves in the going ons and had little patience for Bill’s feeling sorry for himself.

Thrill Ride is the fourth book of the Black Knight’s series by Julie Ann Walker. I was looking forward to reading Rock’s story, but wasn’t sure what to expect. Rock has been such a mystery in the other stories and I was intrigued to find out what made him who he was. This book was equal parts heartbreaking and sizzling hot!
Rock Babineaux is one of the hot operatives in the super-secret Black Knight’s Inc. group. He would give his life for his friends and not bat an eye doing it. He would do anything for them, which is why he’s now in hiding and doing everything he can to keep his distance from his BKI family. He’s been accused of treason and doesn’t stand a chance of making it through and he refuses to take BKI down with him. He may not be guilty of what the government is saying he’s guilty of, but he is to blame for the predicament he’s in and he is prepared for the consequences that are heading his way.
Vanessa Cordova may be one of the newer members of BKI, but she’s known Rock long enough to know that he’s being set up. Convinced that they can clear his name Vanessa sets out to find Rock and bring him back, so that they can help him. Should be easy, right? Find Rock, the master of secrets, convince him that he has to come back, and protect her heart at the same time. Piece of cake.
Rock broke my heart. His life’s story broke my heart. But, nothing hurt my heart more than when he was fighting to not go back to the only family he had left. Reading about his struggles to stay in hiding as his friends physically forced him to come back was so painful. Knowing how much Vanessa loved Rock and seeing him blame her for putting them all at risk literally made my chest ache. This was definitely the most emotional one, so far. Thank goodness Ms. Walker was able to balance it all with her signature writing style, great plot line, witty banter, and smoking hot connections. I cannot wait to read more from these hot, hot, hot alpha men.

Rev It Up is the third book of the super sexy Black Knights Inc series by Julie Ann Walker. I love this series! If you love badass bikers this book is for you. If you love hot, sexy, black op alphas this book is for you. See? This series has it all!
Jake Sommers has made many sacrifices in his life. As a SEAL it's just another day at the office. You ignore your own wants and needs and do the right thing. So, when he had a way too close call with his fellow SEAL's sister Jake did the honorable thing and walked away before anyone got hurt. He has never been able to get her out of his head and now things have changed. Jake is no longer active and he's done a lot of growing up. He will stop at nothing to win the girl back. He knows this is not going to be easy. She has lost all trust in him. But, he'll stop at nothing to earn her love and her trust.
Michelle Carter had her heart broke by Jake and will not let it happen, again. Just because she has been tangled up in her brother's messy life and Jake is the only one that can help her doesn't mean that she has to lose her heart. Just because he's back, sexier than ever, and doing everything he can to win her back doesn't mean that she has to fall for it. Right?
This story held so much emotion my heart actually hurt in places. Jake had so many demons that he had to overcome and he worked so hard to do just that. The way he treated Michelle so patiently taking full blame for his actions was so refreshing and sweet. Not that sweet is even close to how I would describe Jake. Devastatingly sexy? Oh yes! Hot as fire and totally alpha? Yes and Yes!
Michelle was a strong woman who has had a lot of bad things happen in her lifetime, yet she's not allowed it to make her bitter or angry. I loved this about her. And I loved that even though she was determined to protect her heart from Jake she was never outright mean or catty with him. We need more adult characters in romance.
I can not wait to get to know more of these Black Knights.

I didn't think I could love this book more than the first, but I do. In Rides Trouble is the 2nd book in the super hot and sexy Black Knights, Inc. series by Julie Ann Walker. And, in case you can't tell, I loved it!
Becky "Rebel" Reichert has really gotten herself in a jam this time. Hijacked by Pirates. How do these things even happen these days? Lucky for her, she has her own team of badasses and she knows they are on the job. It just sucks that Frank will have even more amunition to arm himself with in his constant bid to keep her at arm's length and see her as a too-young screw-up.
Frank Knight, the head of Knights Inc. and leader of his band of alphas, is out of his mind with worry. Becky has been abducted by pirates. Pirates, for the love of god. He swears that girl can't do anything without getting in trouble. He can think of nothing else, but saving her and then turning her pretty little ass over his knee, and doesn't that just make him sound like a pervert. He can't get past the age difference between he and Becky and has fought his attraction ever since the day he met her. Unfortunately, it's getting harder and harder to hold himself back and it doesn't help that he has a kiss in his memory that keeps drawing him back.
This book has it all! I can not wait to continue on with this series. The more we read the more we get insights into the future badass alphas stories and I can't help, but think each story is going to be better than the one before it.

Hell On Wheels is the first book in the fast-paced, sexy Black Knights Inc series by Julie Ann Walker and I am hooked. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed this series. You think it's a book about motorcycle hotties and you get so much more.
Nate "Ghost" Weller hasn't been the same since the death of his best friend and partner. He blames himself for his death and just can not forgive himself. And now life has just gotten that much more complicated. Ali Morgan, the baby sister of his best friend, has just showed up at the "bike" shop needing help. He's loved Ali pretty much from the day he met her, but knew it was not something that could ever happen. If she ever finds out his part in her brother's death she'll hate him even more than he hates himself and now he's the only one that can save her. He has no idea how he's going to control himself with her around all the time.
"Yes, damn you! Yes, that's why I always keep you at arm's length. Because anytime I get near you, all I wanna do is peel away your clothes, lay y'down on the nearest horizontal surface, and plunge balls-deep inside you until your squirmin' beneath me like a worm on a hook and beggin' me to never stop. There! Y'happy now?"
Ali misses her brother terribly and now trouble has found her. Trouble that she hasn't caused and has really no idea how to handle. She can think of no one else to help her other than the super sexy best friend of her brother, Nate. The problem is he acts like she has cooties and doesn't seem to feel any of the sparks that she feels when she's anywhere near him. And she's quickly learning that her brother's life was not at all what she thought.
I honestly think I have an addiction to bad ass alpha males with surly attitudes. Holy cow! I couldn't read this book fast enough. And it's not done, yet. We have definitely been introduced to some amazing future hotties. Thank you Julie Ann Walker!

I knew it! I knew Rowdy’s story would be my favorite! I love The Love Undercover series and haven’t read a bad story, yet. But, Getting Rowdy book three of this series by Lori Foster is my favorite by far! We’ve learned a bit about Rowdy as a secondary character in the first two books of this series, but in this book we really get to dig deep into his past, his motivations, and his true character. I am in love!
Rowdy Yates has spent his life taking care of his sister. Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks he’s broken laws out of necessity, but tiptoed along the lines of right and wrong as a rule. Now that his sister is on her way to being married Rowdy is at loose ends. What does any normal man do when he’s got too much time on his hands? He buys a bar in the wrong part of town and sets out to clean it up and make a go of it. Oh yea, and of course he promotes the waitress, that has been haunting his fantasies since book one, to a bartender – an employee that he really should not touch and certainly not lust after. To make things even more complicated he can see that there is something going on. Something she’s hiding from him and it’s bringing out every protective instinct that he has and he has quite a few.
Avery Mullins couldn’t have found a job that is further from the world that she grew up in. Raised with a silver spoon in her mouth and family expectations of being the perfect little wife no one would expect to find her bartending in a seedy bar in the bad part of town. But, that’s exactly where you would find her and she loved every second of it. Avery was damn good at her job and was proud of the work she did and now that the new owner is cleaning up the place she is proud of where she works. When she met Rowdy as a customer some months back and was forced to continuously rebuff his flirtatious advances she blew it off when he said he was going to buy the bar, promote her, and fix its reputation. Boy, did he surprise her when he kept his word. And the more she worked with Rowdy the more she respected him. He was a good man, if you could discount the parade of women that he had in and out of his life. She had no right to feel jealous over his personal life. After all, he had made it clear that she was welcome in his bed anytime, but Avery had her fill with men like that. She had been burned hard and wanted to know part of a man. Now, that her past has started to affect her current situation she was finding it harder and harder to keep her distance when it came to Rowdy.
Rowdy is funny, loyal, and everything you could want in a man. He protects his emotions by hiding his feelings and burying himself in a new woman every night. By itself this is just yuck, but knowing his motivations I not only sympathized with him, but it made me love him even more. Avery is one tough chick. I found it endlessly amusing on how she deflected his advances until she just couldn’t deflect them anymore. The heat between these two was palpable, as to be expected. Rowdy and Avery are very passionate people, in personality and I had hoped that their pairing would reflect that. Well done Ms. Foster. I cannot wait to read more of this series.

Wow, that's all I can say! Forgotten Sins is the first book of the Sins Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti and in the spirit of full disclosure I have to say I have gotten away from anything paranormal or fantasy and really didn't realize this book dipped into that genre or I probably wouldn't have read it. I am so glad that didn't happen. I loved this book so much!
Josie fell in love and married Shane Dean after a brief and passionate romance. Their marriage was hot and everything she could have asked for. Well, almost everything she could have asked for. Shane wasn't forthcoming about his life outside of her and their marriage. She always chalked it up to his military career and so much being top secret and decided it was something she could live with. At least, that was the case until one day he left and never came back.
Now, 2 years later the hospital has called her stating Shane is their. Lieing in the hospital bed, Josie realizes that sure enough it's her long lost husband and it's time she had some answers. Sadly enough, the chances of her getting answers anytime soon just aren't going to happen. Shane has a severe case of amnesia and remembers nothing. This is a particular problem for many reasons, one of which is trouble is following the couple and Shane can't seem to remember why.
Josie just wants to be safe, get answers and move on with her life. Shane just wants to find out about his past, protect Josie and convince her to give him another chance. He doesn't remember their marriage, but he can feel the attraction pulling at him anytime they're around each other.
"You're the only woman I've ever loved." He couldn't live without her. Didn't want to. "I'm selfish, Josie. Life is hard, and I don't want to fight it without you."
This isn't your typical fantasy read. It doesn't have your "everyday" paranormal characters. Because of this I think this story will appeal to any and everyone who wants a hot, military romance. I can't wait for the next book in this story.
