Loved this book!
Sultry Groove is the 4th book of the Reckless Beat series by the rocker bad boy master Eden Summers. I am pretty sure it is my favorite of the entire series. I've said that before about this series with pretty much each book I've read, but I'm serious this time. Sean's story has stolen my heart.
Sean is the drummer of the super popular Reckless Beat band. Half of his band mates are settled down and happily coupled, his best friend and lead singer is getting married and the Reckless Beat band is at the top of their game. He should be happier than he's ever been, right? Not so much! His best friend is marrying the woman he's lusted over for years, the band may be well-known to everyone in the civilized world, but as the drummer Sean is overlooked more often than not or even worse he's used to get to the other guys. All of this is screwing with his head and Sean's about ready to give up on it all.
In an effort to spotlight Sean he's going to star in a Reckless Beat video. Just him and a professional dancer dancing to a beautifully written ballad. First he has to learn the dance. Enter Melody Jenkins. She was at the top of her career when it all changed. Now, she's behind the scenes choreographing and training Sean for the upcoming video. Her life has become a series of bittersweet moments. Choreographing for the Reckless Beat band is a dream come true, but not being the dancer in the video is heartbreaking. To make it worse she finds herself falling more and more in love with Sean everyday, but she's hiding so much of her real self from him it's keeping them from ever having a real relationship.
Eden Summers has a gift for writing down and dirty raw dialogue between these friends. These guys make me laugh so hard. Which comes in handy with this story. You'll have these heartbreaking moments that suck you in and then comes these snippets of laugh out loud moments. I don't think anyone can read this book and not be overwhelmed with all kinds of emotion. Seriously, this book has it all! Now, I can not wait to read the next one.

Book 1: Ryder
Hotness Rating 3 out of 5
I loved, loved, loved this story. It's short enough to read over just a couple of hours, but packed with so much witty banter, heartfelt emotion, and sexy SEAL that you never feel rushed or cheated. Seriously, these characters are so well-developed you feel like you actually know them. Like they are old friends. I honestly have no idea how Ms. York pulls this off in a novella, but she does. Even more exciting it ushers in a new Alpha SEALS series. I can't wait!
Ryder "Stone" Maddox is one of my favorite heroes. Faced with the unbearably difficult task of leading his platoon in a rescue mission for some pretty high profile people who were abducted by Somalian pirates is just another day at the office, but fighting this attraction and need he feels for his target just may do him in.
Lily Wilson has lived a very sheltered life. As the daughter of a senator she may have well just been wrapped in wool and packed away she's been so protected. That's why a mission trip to Ethiopia seemed like a grand adventure and she jumped at the chance. Just her luck, the first time she's ever done anything without her parents blessing she gets abducted by Pirates. She's optimistic all will be okay in the end and is doubly reassured when her guardian angel, in the form of Navy SEAL Stone Maddox, comes to her rescue. Stone does more than rescue her, however. He shows her that she can feel passion and a sizzling attraction. Now, she just had to convince him to act on it.
There are few authors that can write such funny, laugh out loud stories and never lose the heat and desire. I checked my kindle for smoke or burn marks after finishing this book. Lily and Stone's attraction was that palpable. Stone often spoke in sarcasm and I love that in my men. Even better Lily gave as good as she got. She was naive and protected, but tough, smart (even if a bit airheaded at times), and a fighter. This couple was made for each other.
She paled, "I c-cant swim".
"You never wanted to learn?"
"Oh, I wanted to" she sighed. "My mother wouldn't let me. She was afraid I would drown."
"Not drowning is kind of the point of swimming."
See? Sarcasm at its best! I do so love Sabrina York and her smart, yet funny dialogue.
Book Two: Drake
Hotness Rating 3 out of 5
I have to start out by saying I couldn't wait for Drake's story after finishing Ryder's story. I had to know Drake's take on the events leading up to the rescue. More importantly I wanted to get to know this cocky, brash, character better. Ms. York did not disappoint. I loved Drake! Heck, I loved Brandy!
Drake tried so hard to get Ryder's approval and had really hoped that this mission would help him do it when all of his past achievements hadn't seemed to get his attention. Unfortunately, that doesn't seemed to be in the cards. If anything could go wrong in this mission it did big time. Get foiled trying to save the girl? Check. Get shot? Check. Miss getting to the extraction site on time? Check. Thank goodness the woman he was tasked with rescueing is all kinds of badass even if it does hurt his ego a bit.
Brandy has sworn off one thing in her "take-no-prisoners, live life to the fullest" lifestyle. And that is no SEALs. She learned this lesson the hard way when her first "real" boyfriend used her thinking a connection with her father, the commander, would help him further his naval career. Little did he know that their is no love lost between her and her father. So, when she finds herself stranded with an injured SEAL and she finds him all kinds of drool-worthy she is questioning her sanity. But, the more time she spends with Drake the more she finds that her feelings aren't just a result of adrenaline and fear.
I really, really liked this couple. For one, this is not your normal SEAL story. Drake was injured and not at anything near his best. Hell, Brandy had to save his butt more than once. Brandy was a take-charge, tough chick that did what needed to be doing while keeping a level head. Yet, I loved that she didn't ever try to make Drake feel like less of a man for all that she did. She was supportive and protective without emasculating Drake. Drake was all that I expected of him. He was such a smartass, but in a fun, cocky way. Yes, it hurt his ego and worked on him a bit that he wasn't able to be the big hero in this scenario, but he was man enough to know when he had to accept help. Like I said, I loved this couple!
Ms. York didn't let me down with her witty dialogue. I swear I live to read what she'll write next.
"Why did you think I was lying on you?" "Um, because you like me?" She growled. Yeah. Growled. "They would have seen you." "They would have seen me? So you laid on top of me? Did that make me invisible?"
Yep, I totally dig Drake's quick wit courtesy of the awesome Sabrina York.
I really, really hope to read more about this SEAL team.

Country Heaven is the first book of the Country Love series by Vicki Green. I am so torn after reading this book. I liked the characters a lot. But, the style of the book threw me. I kept looking back to see if this book was a historical romance or written in the early 1900's. The way the lead character and those around him spoke, as well as the basis of why Sadie was at the ranch was very outdated and quaint. But, then I would get to parts with cell phones and wi-fi and think nope not a misprint this is really a contemporary novel. I must say had it been based in the early 1900's I would have very little complaints about this book.
Memphis Johnson is a sweet and sexy rancher who sees the world through rose colored glasses. He lost his mom at a young age. Luckily he was blessed with a good father to raise him and teach him how to be a good man, but now he's gone as well. Memphis has been left with a lot of land to work and few ranch hands. In a flash of inspiration Memphis decides to place an ad for a second chance ranch as you will. He'll provide food, lodging and a chance for something better in exchange for honest hardwork. He gets a couple responses to the ad and gives each one a lot of thought. But, when he gets a response back from a rich city guy asking Memphis to take his daughter for a time Memphis is torn. It seems the girl has been going a bit wild and the dad wants her away from all of the bad influences that are contributing to her behavior.
Sadie Tisdale is mad as hell that she's bent sent to this backwoods ranch that has nothing to offer. She has no problem taking it out on the sexy cowboy that shows up at the train station to pick her up. She knows she is acting like a spoiled brat, but she really doesn't care. She cares about little in life, actually. In her mind, her dad has always thrown money at her to keep from having to spend time with her, so why should he start acting like he cares now that she is enjoying her life.
I loved how Memphis responded to Sadie's spoiled brat ways. He was almost amused by her tantrums and saw right through her entitled ways right to the person she was trying to hide. Memphis was sweet and naive, but a really good strong man. It was exactly what Sadie needed. The more time she spent with Memphis and his housekeeper the more she felt that she was becoming the woman she was meant to be.
There was an element of suspense thrown in and it did keep me wondering for awhile, but it also made me want to shake Sadie for doing the things she was doing.

Wow! I am blown away with this book! Falling Hard by Sandy Sullivan is a sizzling m/m romance that is sure to melt your heart. This is the first book of the Eight Second Ride series and if it's any indication of what's to come Sandy has a fan for life. I've been around the bull riding community for most of my early twenties and was really a bit suspicious of how Ms. Sullivan could pull off this particular love story in a setting known for manly men who can often be set in their ways and stubborn. After reading the story of Levi and Curt I think she did an amazing job! She detailed the fear that plagued these characters when "coming out" was discussed and the ignorance they faced from some of the riders. Although, I loved that they were mostly accepted and supported I have my doubts of how realistic that actually is at this time.
Levi Bond is at the top of his career and good thing since he's nearing the end of it, as well. He's one of the lucky ones. He has a profitable ranch and good people to keep it running well in his absence. He wants nothing more than to win the title and settle down with the man of his dreams and raise a family of his own. He has no illusions that living the life of a gay man in a small town will be smooth sailing, but most everyone he loves and respects already knows and supports his choices. Now, if he can just find that man of his dreams. Fellow bull-rider and friend Curt is what his heart wants, but he's not even sure Curt is gay.
Curt Walsh lives his life on his own terms. He's never felt loved or wanted by his family, so the nomadic life of a bullrider suits him just fine. He seldom lacks for companionship on the road. He can pretty much have his pick of a different girl every night. Except he's bi-sexual and lately his desires have been pulling him towards Levi. Levi makes him feel and want things that he's never wanted in his life. No one has ever made him consider anything permanent or even to choose one gender over the other. But, there is just something different about how Levi makes him feel in and out of the bedroom.
When this couple comes together sparks fly. You can feel the connection and the attraction right through your Kindle. It's not all sex, either. Although, don't get me wrong that part is HOT!!! But, they truly have this undeniable passion and respect for each other that just resonates to the very heart of you. I can not wait to read what else this series has to offer.

Texas Bossa Nova is the 5th book of the Texas Montgomery Mavericks by Cynthia D'Alba and my all-time favorite. I love this series, so that's saying a lot that this is my favorite! While all of the Montgomerys entertain me in so many ways Reno Montgomery and Magda Hobbs will always have a special place in my heart. Individually, they hold all of the character traits that I love most. Loyal, hardworking, genuine and only slightly flawed. Together, it only gets better. They compliment one another so well and seem to bring out only the best. And when this couple comes together sparks fly. You can feel the heat.
Magda Hobbs broke Reno Montgomery's heart 5 months ago not that he's shared that information with anyone. She just up and left. All Reno knows is that things were going great. The chemistry was there and it seemed everything was fine until it wasn't anymore. Magda's mom got swept in the whole faling in love with a cowboy thing and all it did was leave raising a baby all by herself, working her fingers to the bone until cancer took her away way too soon. She always swore she would never end up going down that same road that her mother did. So, when she started to see Reno as more than just a romp in the hay and started to feel like she was planting roots she bailed. Her motto is leave before they can leave you. But, when she gets the call that her dad, a dad she has only recently reunited with, has had a heart attack Magda comes rushing back.
Reno and his twin brother are doing everything they can to make their ranch a success. It takes a lot of hard work and determination to keep a ranch going and sometimes there are things that fall to the wayside. In their case it's the housework. So, when their mom hires them a live-in housekeeper as part of their Christmas present it's a God send. At least Darren thinks it is. Reno isn't so sure. The housekeeper is none other than Magda Hobbs the woman that he can't get over no matter how hard he's tried.
This book really was so funny, sweet and sexy. I can not even find all of the right words to tell you how much I loved this book. Not only were the primary characters awesome to read, but the secondary characters were just as fun. I can not wait to read more on these characters.

I am a huge fan of the Girl Series by Kate Baum and these little in-between novellas are perfect to give us a peek into the lives of some of the secondary characters that we've come to really love. Naughty Girl (Girl Series 3.5) brings us the story of Joe and Cora. We met Cora and Joe in Brave Girl (Girl series #2) when Eve moved to the reservation to begin her service as a librarian in exchange for furthering her education. Cora is one of the fellow teachers housed with Eve. I fell in love with this group of girls almost as much as I did the original "girls" of this series. I am so happy to read more about them.
Joe wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't working hard. He helps out on a friend's farm, he does last minute deliveries to the local watering hole when they are running low and he drives the reservation teachers to and from work. He likes to stay busy, but he really likes that he met Cora. He's laid back and willing to take things as they come. He knows that Cora is the girl for him and quickly finds just how well they are matched.
Cora was raised in inner city Detroit by her beloved grandmother. She knows what it's like to work your butt off to just get by. That's why she always knew that a good education was her only way out. She's always had a calm and in-control personality which services her perfectly as she teaches the adolescents in her class on the reservation. Things weren't always easy for them on the reservation. In the beginning they were judged and treated unfairly because of their "outsider" status. Which is one of the first things that drew her to Joe. He was always kind and had a nice word to share.
When Joe and Cora finally come together it's sweet and loving. Cora is thrilled with her relationship, but feels like there is something missing. Then she stumbles across a how-to book for the aspiring dominatrix and everything just seems to click. She's done her research and all that's left to do is put her plans into action.
This book is definitely more of a tale of self-discovery than anything else. Cora and Joe already have their love match, but in this story we get to see Cora come into herself. And what a hot ride it turns out to be.

Wow! I am still reeling from everything I have just read. This book is a wild ride from the very first sentence to the very last. This book has every bit of the spark and sizzle you could ever want. And it has so much more. I loved these characters! All of them! The primary characters were not only likeable you could totally put yourself in their shoes and go right along with them for the ride. The secondary characters were funny and loyal and all you could want in the people that surround you. I laughed a lot! I cried a lot! And now I'm praying for a miracle.
Dante Santoro had quite the rocky start in life. Born to a relatively normal life it all fell apart once his father was gone. His mother turned to drugs and never came back. Although, it was a hard life it led him to Joe and his destiny. Joe took him in and raised him as the son he never had. Dante even followed in his footsteps and went into law enforcement. Drug enforcement to be exact. He may have grown up surrounded by the world of drugs, but he will give his last dying breath to eradicating it. He's worked his whole career for the opportunity to go undercover and now he has his chance. He has no outside attachments, so he's perfect for the job. He has a girl in his life, but that's really just a hook-up. They've never even shared personal information and that arrangement is perfect for both of them.
Ava has found the perfect set-up with Dante. They are exclusive, yet they share nothing. And when I say nothing I mean nothing. They know one another's name, address and phone number and that's it. When they want to hook up they make a phone call. It's safer for them both that way. If their secrets were discovered people could die. All of a sudden their carefully constructed world starts closing in around them. Ava discovers Dante leaving the resteraunt where she's scheduled to meet with a well-known crime boss. She wonders could Dante be a criminal and he's left wondering the same of her.
Discovering one another's secrets opens a whole new world for this couple. They finally are able to make a true connection without any barriers in the way. When this couple is together sparks fly like crazy, but when there is nothing standing in their way it's taken to a whole new level. Dante is ridiculously funny, sexy and badass all rolled into one. Ava is the perfect female lead. She is tough and someone not to be messed with. However, she isn't a bitch just to be one because she works in a mostly male-dominated field. I always hate when an author does that. She has a feminine side and is not afraid to show it.
I can not wait for the next installment of this series and I repeat I am praying for a miracle!

Hotness Rating 4 out of 5
I am a huge fan of Sabrina York's writing style. The witty sarcastic charm that her characters exude gets me every time. In Sterling's Seduction we didn't get to see this as much from the main character due to all of his gruff, in-control, surliness. Have no fear. This worked for Sterling in a big way. Can you say hot, dominant, alpha male? Woo-eee! And we get the playful, witty sarcasm from the secondary characters. Win-win!
Sterling is a member of an elite military group pretending to be a motorcycle gang. This kind of deep cover has to be protected at all costs. People could die if this secret got out. That's why when the beautiful "Candy" comes across the team's radar as more than a nosy waitress Sterling will do whatever it takes to protect his team. There's only one problem. "Candy" brings out a side of Sterling that he's never experienced. He's never even imagined trying to protect someone from his team. They've always come first. Not to mention her sexual appetites rival his own.
Roni is a reporter for a gossip magazine posing as a waitress in the middle of nowhere trying to get information about the very protective compound that is stationed there. By all accounts, this compound is owned by a badass motorcycle club. But, Roni's not buying it. Her investigational skills and instincts are top-notch. There is definitely more to the story and everything her gut tells her points to military secrets. Could this be the story that can finally get her what she wants more than anything? She's willing to do anything to finally get out from under her step-father's claws. At least she thought she was until she meets the super sexy and dominant Sterling.
I really, really enjoyed this story and can not wait to read more of this elite team in this boxed set....more

I don't read a ton of paranormal, but this is one series that keeps drawing me back. Lover Claimed is the second book of the Dark Wolf Enterprises series by A.M. Griffin and quite possibly my favorite thus far. The heroine was strong and extremely likeable. The hero was all that makes us swoon over an alpha male.
Lajos Farkas is a shifter on a mission. His brother's mate has been targeted and it all seems to lead back to Dark Wolf Enterprises. He will stop at nothing to find who is behind the threat and why. Well, almost nothing. First he has to drop his brother's mate's dog off to her best friend for safe-keeping. Easy, right? Ah, not so much! Not only does he find himself up against a kick*ss woman bent on handing him his balls, but he finds himself face-to-face with his mate.
Meisha has a past that has taught her one thing. Never let your guard down. So, when she finds a stranger in her kitchen what's a girl to do but kick his butt three ways to Sunday. When she finds that this stranger is none other than the brother of her best friend's boyfriend and that her friend is in trouble Meisha is all in to help. Even though Lajos has made it perfectly clear that he not only doesn't need her help he doesn't want it nothing will stop her, especially now that the trouble has spilled into her life.
The human side of Lajos struggles with the wolf side that wants to claim it's mate. Having a human for a mate is the last thing that he ever imagined or wanted for himself. Working together is making the struggle so much more difficult.
When this couple comes together sparks fly. I don't care if it's when they are arguing with one another, fighting beside the other or giving into the attraction that is undeniable this couple is combustible. Whether you normally read paranormal or not I can assure you that this series and this book will appeal to you.
