She did it, again! Fire Inside is the 2nd book in the Chaos series by Kristen Ashley and my favorite of this series, so far. To be honest, when I heard this story was Hop and Lanie's I was not excited at all. In the previous books Hop was not my favorite biker and I had no idea how Ms. Ashley was going to make him likeable after all that he did in Motorcycle Man. When am I going to learn to not question the master?
Lanie Heron has given up on men. She loved her fiance, truly loved him and that ended up worse than imaginable: her best friend was stabbed, Lanie was shot and he was dead. Granted this was all a result of really bad choices on his part, but Lanie was left to deal with the guilt of it all. That's why when she decided she was ready to "get back in the saddle" Hop was the perfect choice. After all, he's as hot as hell, but everyone knows that a great one night would be right up his alley. She had no idea....
"Every step, every breath, every second I lived on this earth, I'm thankful for, no matter how fu*ked up or whacked or hard or good, 'cause all that shit led me to you."
Hopper Kincaid is a member of the Chaos motorcycle club, a loyal friend and brother, a great father, a badass biker and he refuses to apologize or be ashamed of any of it. If nothing else, he's realistic about life and as much as he has always been attracted to Lanie he never thought to have her. That is until that night she walked up to him and asked him for one night that she would never forget. He gave her almost everything she asked for: there was no way he could ever stop at one night.
"The way you look at me when I tuck you in bed, like I gave you diamonds, something precious, something you wanna keep safe, something you want forever. Woman like you could get diamonds just crookin' her finger, so a woman like you shouldn't find a man tuckin' you in bed precious. But you do. It's also about you tellin' me you won't take it there with me but, I kiss you, you ignite. Some men like a game. Others like a challenge." His smile got wider. "You found a man who likes a challenge."
I seriously went from Hop's story being my least anticipated to my favorite of all. I swear I could hear his deep, gravelly voice as I read each page. I was sad to finish because I knew I would miss him. Lanie was great! She had tons of demons to battle and did her best to get through each day. I loved how she was finally able to heal with the love and help from Hop.
Thank you to NetGalley.com for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I’m not sure why I took so long to start the spinoff series. Own the Wind is the 1st book in the Chaos series and in case you can’t tell I loved it!
Tabitha Allen is all grown up and facing life as the daughter of Tack Allen, the leader of the Chaos motorcycle club. This essentially gave her innumerable, over protective brothers that watched her every step. Having a few drinks with the wrong crowd in college landed Shy Cage at her side. He showed up at the party and decided to teach her a lesson and boy did he teach her a lesson. She gave up partying, got her nursing degree and began a relationship with a great guy that she adored. And most importantly, she gave up her teenage crush that she had on Shy. She was able to avoid him for months at a time. Everything was going great until one week before her wedding her fiancé was killed in a car accident. Tabby’s life went spinning out of control, once again. One night, when she got herself in a bad situation she called Shy in a fit of panic. She knew he wouldn’t be disappointed or worried about her. After all, he already thought so little of her it wouldn’t change a thing.
“May feel like you’re fallin’, Tabby, but remember, I’m at the bottom ready to catch you.”
Parker “Shy” Cage is not only a member of the Chaos motorcycle club, they are his family. That’s why when he got the call one night that Tabby was at it again at one of her college parties he lost it. He was tired of her putting herself at risk and not taking the risks seriously. He decided to teach her a lesson. After marching into the partying and insisting she leave with him immediately he takes her back to the club’s headquarters and decided to try a little shock value. As he’s lecturing her and being generally mean he takes her to his room where there are 2 sleeping, naked women and asks her if she wants to join them, after all that’s the life she is heading to if she doesn’t make a change. Well, his lesson worked a little too well. Tabby hadn’t spoken to him in years and he hates it. The guilt he feels is overpowering and things just gets worse when he sees her in love and happy and then later sees her broken and hurting. When he unexpectedly gets a call from her asking for help he jumps at the chance. Not only does he rescue her that night, but he becomes her everything. He holds her when she cries over her fiancé, he helps her to heal and find her way back to the living. And then one night it all becomes too much and he can’t risk losing her, again. He kisses her with all the pent up passion he has felt for years and it changes everything.
“Baby, bein’ your safe harbor doesn’t come with me gettin’ pissed when you gotta do what you gotta do when you gotta do it. It also doesn’t come with me expecting you to explain why did what you had to do. Bein’ your safe harbor means lettin’ you do what you gotta do when you gotta do it and not gettin’ pissed.”
In true Kristen Ashley form this book is rough and raw and sexy in so many ways. No one can write an alpha male like her. They’re real and flawed and ooze sex and power with every word that you read. These men make you angry and indignant, but yet you root for them and wish they were yours. Kristen, once again, thank you so much for sharing your talent and the men that exist only in your mind!

That’s it! I’ve got to quit doing this. I found a new favorite couple. I swear these books just keep getting better and better. Rock Chick Regret is the 7th book in the Rock Chick series by Kristen Ashley and I loved everything about this book! Everything!
Sadie Townsend aka the Ice Princess is living a very lonely life. Her father, a well known, mostly feared and despised, drug lord, is in prison. It would come as a surprise to him and everyone else that he is there with her help. She’s never approved of his life and didn’t enjoy the fruits of his labor, as so many assumed. Now, that he is safely out of her life she can keep a low profile and just enjoy her quiet, albeit lonely life running her gallery. It would be nice to have friends, but how could anyone ever like her once they found out who her father is? Unfortunately, rivals of her fathers are making a play for his business now that he is out of the picture. Taking Sadie is part of that plan. She fears for her life and safety, for good reason and has no choice but to go to Nightingale Investigations for protection. This takes her right to Hector Chavez, the undercover ex-cop that infiltrated her father’s business and took him down.
Hector Chavez gave up his undercover DEA job after taking down Seth Townsend taking a job with Nightingale Investigations. He had his reasons and no one would doubt they were good ones. Enter Sadie Townsend, the daughter of the man he put away and the woman he’s never been able to get out of his head. Sadie is in danger and he wasn’t there to help her when she needed him the most and it won’t happen, again. Guarding her body and saving her life is the least of his jobs. Somehow, he has to convince her that she is worthy of love and friendships no matter who her father is. More importantly, he has to convince her that she is the woman for him, not because of revenge or a sense of duty.
I’m gonna say this once so pay attention. I’m not passin’ the time here, enjoyin’ a sweet, hot piece for the fuck of it. If you don’t get it yet, I’ll give it to you. What we got, it means somethin’. Do you understand?
In this book we don’t get just the wonderfully, entertaining Rock Chicks/Hot Bunch gang. We, also, get the wonderful Buddy and Ralphie. I loved how they all dealt with Sadie’s insecurities when it came to having friends and deserving them. They gave her just the right amount of patience and attitude. Everyone should be blessed with friends like these.
What happens to you happens to you but, in a way, it also happens to the people around you that care about you.
This is the best series! As in all series, some books are better than others. This was my absolute favorite, yet. I have said that before, so you know this one had to be great to top my past favorites. I absolutely can’t wait for the next book to come out. Thank goodness, it should be soon.

Rock Chick Reckoning wasn’t my favorite of the Rock Chicks, not even close, but that’s comparatively speaking. Standing alone without the competition of the previous 5 books in this series it would be amazing!
Kai “Mace” Mason has demons that even he can’t outrun or beat. Witnessing his beloved sister’s murder he left all he ever knew and began a mission of revenge. Once all revenge was meted out he was recruited into the Hot Bunch headed up by Lee Nightingale. This group has always been a perfect fit for Mace. He’s unhappy, surly and has a barely contained fury at all times. When his ex-girlfriend starts getting shot at it brings back all kinds of bad feelings and puts Stella right back into his life.
The Nightingale Private Investigations Team, all of them highly qualified, intensely skilled, morally dubious, but totally super cool.
Stella Gunn is the lead singer and den mother of the Blue Moon Gypsies. She was the one to take care of everyone. So, who could blame her? She fell in love with Mace a year before. He took care of her for a change. She had 4 wonderful months with him and then he walked out on her. The loss of everything she felt in those months rocked her world and changed everything. There’s a price on the head of all of the Rock Chicks and she, like it or not, is one of the Rock Chicks. This throws her right back into the personal territory of Kai Mason and all of her feelings she has tried to bury.
“I fucked up and hurt you. It won’t happen again.” His fingers tensed around my head and his deep voice dropped low. “I promise you, Kitten, it won’t happen again.”
It broke my heart to watch Mace suffer the way he did. It was painful to watch both Mace and Stella open up to each other and face the demons that they both had buried. Maybe that’s why this wasn’t my favorite of the series, the book was filled with pain and angst. It was broken up by the Rock Chicks and some of their antics, but it just wasn’t enough to balance the pain. Thank goodness Mace and Stella get their balance in the end, but it was a long time coming.
After having a life of no love for so long, finding a guy who could love so deep that he’d sacrifice everything to avenge someone he cared about felt effing great.

Stop the presses (I've always wanted to say that) I have found my favorite Rock Chick book. Of course, this could change by the time I read the next one and I am sure I will declare my love in a similarly dramatic way, but Luke and Ava have my loyalty thus far.
Ava Barlow has sworn off men. I mean let's face it, if there is a lying, cheating, no good man in the vicinity she'll find him. Even her own father left and he was the one ally she had in her home. There is only one man that has ever been perfect in her eyes and she just doesn't fit with him. She's even lost 75 pounds and completely reinvented herself to feel worthy of him. However, in her mind this still isn't enough. Unfortunately, she has to face him and ask for his help. Her best friend is married to a cheating, slimeball and she needs to find proof.
Luke Stark was the boy next door to Ava Barlow. He was the one person she could lean on and she was that one person for him. It never got any further than friendship because he left home and left her all alone with her judgmental mother and sisters. Now he is an esteemed member of the Savage hot bunch and can help her when no one else can. He always liked that Ava was different than the rest of the women in her life. She was witty and funny and sweet. He liked her no matter her weight. Now, he just has to convince her that there is no such thing as her being good enough for him. He loves and wants her for who she is.
"I'm not lettin' you go. I'm not lettin' you push me away and I'm not giving up. I'm gonna keep working until I piece together what your Dad and those assholes tore from you. I'm gonna keep at you until you let me in. I'm not gonna stop until you tell me you're mine, until it comes straight from your mouth, preferably when I'm deep inside you and you're lookin' at me like you look at me when I'm close to makin' you come."
Rock Chick Revenge is the 5th book in the Rock Chick and series and it has it all. Luke Stark is one sexy, alpha male. His patience and undeniable love for Ava is impossible to resist. There were times when Ava got to me a bit, because she refused to believe she was worthy of Luke. I get body issues and I understood her insecurities, but I felt she held on to them a bit too long. About halfway through I totally got over it. She redeemed herself in every way. Read this book! You won't be disappointed.

I admit this was not my favorite book of the series, but I still loved it. Keep in mind, it's all in comparison. Kristen Ashley is the master and nothing can top her. Had this been the only book of hers that I've ever read I would be screaming from the rooftops how great this book is. In comparison to her other books I can say it was very good, just not my favorite.
Vance Crowe is Lee Nightingale's top tracker and one hot, sexy, badass dude. He can be alone for hours following a lead or catching a skip. Put out of his home, at the age of 10 by an abusive father, he's learned early on that life will beat you down if you let it. Solitary life works for him just fine. He knows he can count on the Nightingale boys to have his back and that's the most he's ever counted on anyone. Enter a beautiful, little vigilante that has more skill and courage than brains and fear and his world is forever changed. Lucky for both of them that Vance is strong enough to know what they need even before she does.
Julie "The Law" Lawler is a social worker by day and a pain in the ass of the drug world by night. Befriending a group of 3 boys at the shelter she works for has defined her life. When she loses one of the boys to the drug world her life has changed. Deciding to buy a gun and become a thorn in the side of the local drug dealers Jules begins a campaign to annoy the heck out of them. Adopted by a pack of misfits she is taught self defense and how to shoot and take care of herself. However, she is doing more than just annoying the local small time crime guys, she is now on the radar of some heavy hitters. Enter the Nightingale boys and Vance Crowe. Vance steps in to save Jules from herself and the big guys. Julie does ride alongs with Luke and finds herself fighting alongside the boys on a couple different occasions. This earns her their respect and protection. Vance wants to give her more than just his protection, but she hides so much of herself. Finally there is something that scares The Law. It comes in the form of a very sexy Native American by the name of Vance Crowe.
"Yeah. Me fucking you. In your bed, on your couch, in my bed and anywhere else I can think of. I'm gonna do you on your back, on your knees and you're gonna ride me. And when I've exhausted you and you don't have those fucking shields up, I'm gonna make you talk to me and tell me what this shit is about and then, maybe, I can help you with it.
I really, really can not say enough about Kristen Ashley and her band of characters. So many books suffer when there are lulls in the action, but not this series. The supporting characters are just as entertaining and lovable as the main characters. Read this series!

I absolutely love how Ms. Ashley writes her characters. The men are everything a dream man should be..hot, sexy, badass, protective and loving and not afraid to show it. The girls are strong, loyal and a bit crazy. The support characters are a lot crazy and so much fun!
Hank Nightingale is one of the good guys. He's a cop and takes his job of protecting the world very seriously. His life has always been disciplined. The women he's dated have always been nice, calm, no drama, low maintenance kind of girls. Maybe that's why none of them have actually stuck. Things are about to change. Roxie comes into his life and he knows one thing for sure..he wants this one to stick.
Roxie Logan is on the run from her wild life with her ex boyfriend. He wasn't always the best boyfriend, but she loved him and stuck by him. That was until it's been brought to her attention that his extracurricular activities are less than legal. She's on the run and wants as much distance from him as possible. Stopping in Denver for a temporary layover to see her Uncle Tex seems to be a great idea. You know what they say about well laid plans. In true Rock Chick fashion her plans fall apart. Billy, her ex, and all his problems catch up with her. Not to mention, she meets Hank and the things he makes her feel are feelings she doesn't think she deserves. If only she could have met Hank one year later after she has her life sorted.
"Sweetheart, I'm thirty-five years old and I've had a fuck of a lot more lovers than you counted on your fingers last night. I've come to the point, with women, that I know what I want when I see it and I haven't seen anything in a long time that interests me as much as you."
This is such a great story. Roxie feels because of the mistakes she has made in her past she doesn't deserve a great, honorable, upstanding guy like Hank. Hank does everything he can to show Roxie that people aren't a product of bad decisions as long as they are making the right ones now. We not only have this great couple, but we get the sexy Nightingale guys, the always awesome Rock Chicks (including Stevie and Tod), the crazy Fortnum's crowd. You can't go wrong!

Jet McAlister is the self proclaimed boring girl never living up to her interesting name. She's always been the one to step and take care of the family when her less than savory father popped in and out of their life. She's the one who took care of their mother when she had a stroke. Doing all of this, so that her sister can have the fun life that she feels she will never lead.
Eddie Chavez is one of the good guys. He's a cop, but the kind of cop that does what needs to be done when it needs to be done. When Jet started working at Fortnum's she caught his eye, but avoided him at all costs. When her good for nothing father shows up bringing a boatload of trouble with him Eddie steps up to be the protector that Jet needs. This is his perfect chance to show win Jet over and show her how great they can be together.
You get a chance to do a good deed, you do it. That way, when you need a good deed done, it'll come back to you. Karma.
I can not say enough about Kristen Ashley and her characters. The men are hot, hot, hot. The women are tough (even when they don't realize it) and the cast of misfits that accompany the Rock Chicks are laugh out loud funny. You will thank me, read this series.
ADDENDUM: This series is narrated by Susannah Jones and she does an absolute great job with this wild and crazy bunch. (less)

Rock Chick is the first book in the Rock Chick series and it is a hit. So many first in series books struggle trying to establish the background, setting up the characters for future books, etc. But, not this book.
Indy Savage is a self proclaimed rock chick, always getting herself in one predicament or another. Thank goodness she has always had Ally Nightengale as her partner in crime. From the time they were small children they could find trouble just about anywhere. The Nightengale's were like a second family, but the feelings she had for Lee were nowhere near sisterly. After a blunt rebuff years before she has given up on her many schemes to get Lee to notice her and she's moved on with her life.
Liam "Lee" Nightengale has spent his life trying to keep his attraction to Indy at bay. Knowing his life often operated in the gray areas he felt it was safer for all involved. Now, that he's settled back at home and is running a successful private investigating service he's ready to make Indy his.
Ack! I can not say enough about this book! Indy and Ally's antics will have you in stitches. I swear they are the Lucy and Ethel of Rock Chicks. Lee is hot, hot, hot and so badass. The supporting characters are just as amusing and wonderful. Read this book!!! You'll thank me.
That's what friends do. They don't drink so they can drive you home when you're drunk. They like your boyfriends when you're with them and then trash them after you've broken up. And they find you a safe house when people are shooting at you.

Kane "Tack" Allen, is the head of the Chaos motorcycle club. He's worked hard to clean up their act and be as safe and legal as a badass, edgy motorcycle club can be. That's not to say they don't toe the line a lot, because they do! But, he doesn't want to have to watch his back and worse watch his brothers in blood die regular like. He's dealing with a bitch of an ex-wife who treats his kids terrible. Enter Tyra Masters. Picking her up at a Chaos party one night he had no idea the things she would make him feel. Now he has to learn to tread gently with Tyra and not be his usual "in your face, tell it as bluntly as can be" self.
"Love scales twenty foot, steel-reinforced, concrete walls. If it doesn't, it isn't love."
Tyra Masters was raised very religious and conservative. She has an office job that is sucking the life out of her, actually life itself is sucking the life out of her. She's living in black and white. One day it all becomes too much, she ditches everything she knows and runs away from it all. With her nest egg dwindling she takes a job at Ride as the office manager. Invited to a party by the woman she will be replacing Tyra meets Tack and knows immediately that he's her Dream Man. He's the one she has been waiting her whole life for. At least that's how she felt until she slept with him and he walked away without a backwards glance. Just 2 days later she shows up for her first day at work and she sees him kissing a brunette that he clearly spent the night with. Deciding that she needs this job, but she does not need Tack Allen in her life or bed she pulls up her big girl panties and digs right in. This is made all the more difficult because Tack Allen runs in a different world, speaks a different language (bikeer badass) and has decided that Tyra Masters will be his. The only thing she knows for sure is when Tack is in her life it's in vivid color.
"Life's a roller coaster. Best damn ride in the park. You don't close your eyes, hold on and wait for it to be over, babe. You keep your eyes open, lift your hands straight up in the air and enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts."
I absolutely loved this book! No surprise there. What did surprise me was the amount of emotion Tack brought out in me. I was rooting for the couple to make it, of course. But, there were also times I was shouting "Tyra kick him in the shins, don't let him talk to you like that". I loved him, I hated him, I wanted to strangle him. But, in the end I loved him oh so much and am so glad they made it.
This book ushers in the end of the series, but spawns a spin off series coming soon. The Chaos series will begin with the story of Tabitha (Tack's daughter) and Shy (Tack's brother in blood). I can not wait to re-visit this group and see how daddy dear handles this.

Mara Hanover has escaped her hell of an upbringing (if that's what you can call it) by the skin of her teeth. Raised by trailer trash she left her home 13 years ago and has never looked back. The only ties she has with her family is through her loser of a cousin's kids. She rescues these kids on a regular basis. When the loser cousin goes on a binder the kids run away and call Auntie Mara to come get them. She feeds them, cleans them and clothes them, then take them back to their father when he's sobered up. This time he has gone too far. He is drugged out and completely oblivious to the children and what he's putting them through. Unlucky for him, this all goes down at the time when Mara seems to have attracted the attention of her super hot police detective neighbor, Mitch Lawson. Mara has to learn to deal with her biggest enemy first...her self image.
"You look nice. You dress nice. You smell nice. You have a fantastic fucking laugh. You're loyal. You're loving. And, honey, every time I'd see you in the breezeway or at a party, it was cute as all fuckin' hell even as it was just as frustrating how you'd tuck that hair behind your ear, avoid me like the plague and get the fuck away from me as fast as you could. Since that moron you used to date left the picture, I've been waitin' for my shot and it sucks that it comes with you cryin' in my arms and those kids learnin' early that life can really suck. But if takin' that shot means puttin' up with that shit and comes with you bein' where you are right now rather than hiding behind your door and retreating into that world in your head, I'll put up with that shit in order to take it".
Mitch Lawson has admired Mara for over 4 years, but she avoids him like the plague. He sees that she's shy and uncomfortable around him, but he can't seem to figure it out. She's so outgoing and personable with the other neighbors. He has no idea that the reason for her discomfort around him is she has this really whacked rating system, where she sees him as a 10.5 and her barely a 2.5. Seeing she's gotten herself in a situation with taking in her cousins and trying to give them the life they deserve is the perfect chance for him to get close to her. The fact that he's fallen in love with the kids himself is just a bonus.
"Life goes like I hope, you'll be dancin' with Mara at your wedding and your sister will be dancing with me at hers."
This book was amazing! I completely fell in love with Mitch Lawson. This book would be a 5 star rating for sure if it wasn't for the fact that so much of Mara's dialogue with Mitch revolved around the word Uh or Umm. This really drove me crazy. I get that she is shy and feels like she is out of her league when it comes to Mitch, but jeesh after the first 100 pages or so I think she should be able to form a sentence.
However, you will not be disappointed. Mitch Lawson will always have a special place in my heart, Mara is a wonderful person to take on her cousins and give them the life they deserve and the kids are fantastic and funny. (less)

Wild Man is book #2 in the Dream Man series, although it's not my favorite Kristen Ashley book, it still was pretty great!
Tessa O'Hara has had just about all she can take from life. She falls in love and gets married, only to find out this guy is a monster and not the man she fell in love with at all. He is abusive to her in so many ways. She finally gets up the nerve to leave him and start a life on her own, only to find out that he is now dragging her back into his problems in a huge way. He's a drug lord and he's gotten himself in some serious trouble with the DEA. And he's pulling out all the stops to get back into her life.
Brock Lucas has had to do some pretty disgusting stuff as an undercover DEA agent, but getting into Tess O'Hara's life isn't one of them. One look at her and he knows she's different. But, to protect her and do his job he befriends her and dates her for 4 months. One night it all comes out when she is extracted from her home by the police and taken into custody for questioning. Feeling used she says she never wants to see him again. He gives her some time, but now he's ready to make his play and convince her that she wasn't just a job for him and that they would be great together. Unfortunately, he is also dealing with a crazy, manipulative ex who is using his kids against him and family issues that go long and deep.
When my phone rang at the bakery, this usually meant someone wanted to order a birthday cake. When Brock's rang at the station, this usually meant someone had a cap busted in their ass. My job way way better.
This is such a great story. I highly recommend this and any book in the Kristen Ashley library. She writes such amazing, real characters with real life pasts and problems. Don't get me wrong, most of us will not be abducted and beat by crazy ex's, but it happens. The characters are flawed, but good people at heart and when it counts. I can't say this enough...read anything Kristen Ashley you won't be disappointed.

All I can say is thank goodness she has the Dream Man series I was going through some serious withdrawal. No one writes a character like Ms. Ashley.
Mystery Man is the first book in the Dream Man series and I confess I was really afraid to read it. I read the premise and immediately thought "are you kidding me?". I mean I love Kristen Ashley, but really a woman allows a man that she doesn't even know his name sneak into her room at night for over a year, has wild (albeit amazing) sex and then he's gone in the morning and it's fine? Very far fetched. But, once I started reading the story I was able to get over that with no problem.
Cabe "Hawk" Delgado is a flawed man, by his own admission. But, he's also everything a man should be. First, he's a "real" guy, not watered down or feminized (which is what I love most about Ms. Ashley's guys), he loves his family, he's protective, he's thoughtful, he's caring, he's a take charge and get things done kind of guy. He has a past that haunts him every day and has pretty much lived the last 8 years of his life making sure he doesn't ever have to relive his nightmare.
"For him to be special, he has to make me feel special."
Gwendolyn Kidd lives in a dream world. She meets a guy at a bar, takes him home with her and has the best sex of her life. That part? Not so uncommon (unfortunately). However, she continues to get visits from this man for the next year and a half. She fantasizes that one day he'll want her for more than a night, here and there. However, her fantasy does not include her very "wrong side of the law" sister dragging her into some very serious trouble where Hawk has to come to her rescue. Once there relationship is forced into the light, so to speak the sparks fly.
"I'm here 'cause when you come, you come hard, you don't hold back but you do hold on and you do it tight. I'm here because when you call me baby in this bed, I feel it in my dick. And I'm here because you don't hesitate throwing attitude when every other woman I know doesn't have the guts to say boo to me. Seein' you scared and wantin' to do something about it was just an extra reason that made me want to be here."
This book is great. It is so good to know that the Colorado Mountain series wasn't a fluke. Kristen Ashley is amazing! I have never read anyone that can consistently write such fanatastic characters and stories. Be prepared to fall in love with everything Kristen Ashley when you read this book. It seriously has it all. I cried, I laughed and I sighed (A Lot). (less)

Lauren Graham has given up on special. She spent her whole life looking for it and thinking it was within her reach. That is until her husband of 15 years announces that he's leaving her for her best friend, with whom he's been having an affair with for the last 5 of those 15 years. She leaves her suburban home, plush job and travels aimlessly for 3 months looking to make a new life. And now she's found it in Carnal....a small motorcycle town in Colorado. She takes a waitressing job at the local bar, makes some wonderful friends and is ready to settle down to wonderful, normal (not special) life. And then she meets Tate Jackson...
Tate Jackson had it all. A high school football star, turned college football star, turned professional football star, he had it all. Then it all came crashing down around him. Due to a late hit in the end zone his football career ended 2 games into his professional career. Years later Tate is not living the life he envisioned for himself. Dealing with a crazy (and I don't mean just a little nutty. I mean raging bitch crazy) ex, hurts that he can't seem to let go and grudges with friends that plague him his life is just no fun. The only thing he does enjoy is his job as a bounty hunter (that he's damn good at) and his son. Then he meets Lauren Graham and his life changes almost over night. She's it for him. He just has to find a way to share his crazy life with her and not scare her off, get over his issues with her being "high class" and him being "trash" (his words not hers) and let go of the past (so, they can have a future).
"Two kinds of women get under your skin. The ones who do damage, they don't feel good there but once you're fuckin' stupid enough to let them in you got no choice but to take the time it takes to work them out. Then there are the ones who don't do damage, who feel good there, feed the muscle, the bone, the soul, not rip it or break it or burn it. The ones you don't wanna work out." ~Tate explaining to Lauren the difference between his ex and her.
This book has it all...a hot, hot, hot (did I mention he's hot?) male lead, a female lead who makes you love her from the second you meet her, awesome love scenes, all kinds of crazy ass drama and a serial killer that needs to be stopped.
My only warning is that these books could ruin you for all other books. Kristen Ashley writes "real" men. They don't tiptoe around a girls feelings, they tell it like it is and they don't check their language, but they are protective and amazing mates. The problem is when you read a different book the men just don't seem manly enough. If only everyone had problems like these :)(less)

I am there! This is my first Kristen Ashley book and it will definitely not be my last. This book has it all...romance, hot male lead, strong female lead, witty banter, suspense, wild and crazy suporting characters, and did I mention hot, amazing sex scenes? I didn't, weird. Well, now I'm mentioning it. Hot, Amazing sex scenes.
Nina Sheridan has had it with being ignored by her fiance in London. They don't fight exactly, they just don't do anything. She has decided to take a break to think about things and run away to Colorado for holiday. Does the fiance beg her to stay, worry about her while she's gone, heck, even check on her to make sure she made it okay? No, No and No. All she can do is thank god that she has seen it now and come to her senses before she actually married him. Since she can't seem to get him to listen to her when she calls, she has decided to email him explaining why they are not going to be married.
Holden Maxwell, is a great guy. He's a mountain man guy that puts up with no shit and tells it like it is, but he's a great guy! When Nina Sheridan shows up on his doorstep, cute as can be, and madder than hell that a booking error has messed her lodging plans. He falls instantly head over heels in love. By his good fortune she ends up in a ditch and then horribly sick from the flu. He does what any good guy would do, he brings her home and nurses her back to health. Now, he just has to convince her that she is meant for him, even if it's only been a week. Thank goodness he has the help of the crazy townspeople and her mother and step dad.
This book really is amazing. Throw in a murder mystery, bitchy ex-girlfriend and sister, crazy meddling neighbors and you get Nina and Max's story. READ THIS BOOK! (less)
