Or the one that could lead to passion and excitement.
Marshall Hud Savage has been second guessing himself since he allowed imposter Camilla Northland, who posed as Dana's long lost cousin, into his home to terrorize his family. How could he have let someone that unstable near his precious family? How could he have been so blind? These thoughts go through his mind constantly nowadays and he worries that his days as Marshall are numbered. Even though she is apparently tucked away in prison, Camilla Northland plots her revenge on Hud and Dana. Is her arm long enough to reach Cardwell Ranch?
It takes all of these people involved to try to solve the murder mystery plaguing Big Sky and the clock is ticking. The question is, can all be solved before time runs out?
Lord, do I love picking up a B.J. Daniels book. I always know I am in for a good time. B.J. gets the reader's mind a flutter with all the facts and the possible resolutions. She is a master at telling more than one story at a time with incredible ease and sucking in the reader until the very end. It is so nice to be back in Big Sky, Montana and with the Cardwell Clan and its extended family especially at Christmas time. Watching the evolution of these awesome characters is always part of the charm mixed in with all the mystery and suspense. I loved B.J. Daniels' CHRISTMAS AT CARDWELL RANCH and I know you will as well. (less)

I was lucky enough to have read her book Apocalyptic Moon, which I’m still waiting for the next installment of, and loved every page of that book. When I was given Lycan Gladiator by her to read and review, I couldn’t wait to sink into this new and exciting world she had created. She gives such detailed descriptions without making the reader want to say hurry up all ready lol. I could imagine the clothing, to the surrounding, right down to the last detail and was completely enthralled the entire time. In this paranormal story Ms Gordon takes you back to the Roman times and gives a twist to the Gladiator games where there can be only one winner. Only instead of throwing a lion in to fight a man, they have a lycan who defeats his opponents to save his fellow pack members who are also being held captives. Her fight scenes are not for the faint of heart. They are graphic, but they make the book so much better in my opinion. She doesn’t fill the pages with unnecessary filler, or fluff. Each page you read keeps you interested and on the edge of your seat and wanting or needing to read more until you’ve reached the end. And last but definitely not least, the thing that makes all paranormal romances a good read in my opinion is the love scenes. Again, Ms Gordon doesn’t let us readers down. She gave us the sweet, bone melting, sensual love making that Cassia needed while still giving Ulric the fulfilling any Alpha Lycan needed as well. The way she seamlessly blended the sweet Cassia and rough-tough-hardened Ulric made this a truly wonderful read to me.

When there's a knock on her door one morning, she could never have imagined handsome new neighbor Simon Austen to be at her doorstep with an interesting package in hand.
When Simon sees scruffy looking Eve, he is instantly attracted to the sleepy-eyed woman. The two being a hot and heavy affair, that is so hot, they agree to re-examine the relationship in six months time. Where will they be in six months? Read Apartment 4B and find out?
What a great story. Not very heavy on the BDSM... just a bit of a dabble. The novella is well told and the characters are so good together. Both Eve and Austen have been single for several years and relationship wary. I really enjoy the direction the Tethered Arms books are going and I think you will too. Sahara Kelly has a knack for romance and a great sense of humor. Loved this!!!

Adam is a grade school teacher married to Laura,a lawyer, for the past five years. Things are beginning to become a little ho-hum in the bedroom. Although they love each other immensely, their lives have become utterly routine..
That is until Laura discovers that Adam has been withholding from her a side of himself he locked away when they became a couple. Adam was a Dom, and quite accomplished at it as well. Can high-powered attorney Laura give her husband what he needs. Can she let go and become the sexual submissive that Adam as never even attempted to draw out of her? Silly people... you must read this one to find out!!!
Oh wow, I really enjoyed this one and found it inspiring. Sahara is no holds barred. Sometimes I have to admit that when I read a novella, afterward I feel cheated, that something was lacking. This is definitely not the case with these Tethered Arms stories. I am eager to read the next 2 and hope that Sahara has more planned.

Miss Haymore changes the game completely when writing romance and I for one am happy to be along for the ride.
Widowed for sometime now Beatrice Reece has been shunned bu the ton and accused of having to do with the murder of her abusive husband, the Marquis of Fenwicke. Two years after his death, she exists away from society in solitude. Her dear friend Jessica, insists she attend Madame Lussier's masquerade ball as the Greek goddess Persephone, to if only a while let down the wall of loneliness that Beatrice has been secured behind since her terrible marriage. There is complete anonymity, Beatrice can pretend to be free of all the societal misconceptions that have her all but in a noose since her husband's demise.
Andrew Sinclair, now the Earl of Weston dislikes mixing with the ton, preferring to be ensconced away with his love of botany. When Madame Lussier herself, insists that Andrew make an appearance at the masquerade ball, he begrudgingly agrees only to appease her. Making his masked appearance at the ball breathes new life into Drew when he sees the Greek goddess and knows exactly who it it under her mask. He had always been in love with Beatrice Reece and even had a notion to ask for her hand in marriage before he found her betrothed to the Marquis of Fenwicke. Now years later and after seeing her from across the crowded room, she has once again piqued his interest and stirred feelings he had forgotten he had for the lady who he knew had been terribly misused by her husband before his death
Behind their masks they both lower the shields and bask in the romance that anonymity has provided. He knows who she is, but she has no clue who is behind his mask, only knowing that she is attracted to him like she has never been to any other in her life and wants to immerse herself into the moment for as long as she can, for once he finds out her identity, he will toss her aside like the rest of society has.... or will he?
ONE NIGHT WITH AN EARL by Jennifer Haymore is teeming with romance and excitement. I fell in love with Drew from the get-go. Such intensity his feelings for Beatrice that I was wishing I could be in her place. Jennifer Haymore has such an innate talent for writing such depth and feeling, even in a novella. I am consistently in awe of Miss Haymore and crave the next dose of her medicine in the form of her written word.

Th...more Once again, I am floored by Jennifer Haymore's intrinsic ability to mesh, murder, intrigue and steamy romance into a little package called a novel. The House of Trent series is on the very top of my list as one of the best series I have ever read and I am so eager to see each and every Hawkins sibling have their day in the sun.
Sam Hawkins has been secretly working for years for the English government to protect the Regent and the crown against any harm foreign or domestic. His mission this time, is to eliminate the Earl of Duthorpe, who has been in league with the French against the English crown for many years. Upon the Earl's demise, Sam realizes there is a witness to his crime in the form of Lady Elise Dunthorpe, who had been hiding under a table while Sam did the deed. Discombobulated and angry with himself, Sam grabs the lady and takes her to await further instructions from his superiors.
The French born Elise has adopted England as her homeland and protective shelter. France was not good to her as she lost all she loved and cared for before fleeing with the friend Marie. Married in her tender years to the older Earl, the marriage was a fiasco. Elise was unable to bear the Earl an heir and she was treated poorly for it as well as being harangued for being French. Elise knew deep down that her husband was in league against his own country, but she couldn't prove it and when her husband finally meets his end, she is hardly the mourning widow.
Sam knows she must hate him for what she saw, she may even be involved in his nefarious plots against the crown. Then why is he so damn attracted to her? Sam has had a tumultuous life. Raised as a Hawkins, in the House of Trent, all bets are off when his mother disappeared over a year ago and the siblings find out that most are illegitimate. They scramble to discover the Duchess of Trent's whereabouts and even now, Sam and his brothers and sister are close to answers, but first Sam needs to take care of the issue of Elise. That becomes the most difficult of tasks, when he finds himself falling hard for the beauty who insists she is innocent of any wrongdoing other than not being sad the Earl is gone.
When order from high places make Sam choose a side he never thought he would, he and Pippa end up both on the run from both sides of the coin and almost on top of the Duchess of Trent. Sam's hard choices and new discoveries change his life forever, will that life continue with Lady Elise or not?
So many questions answered and new beginnings! THE SCOUNDREL'S SEDUCTION by the impressive Jennifer Haymore is yet another notch in her belt of winners as far as I am concerned. Her unconventional take on romance attracts like a moth to a flame. Such an intriguing character, Sam gets to show the reader there is more to his illegitimacy and the heart this man has only draw one in deeper. Elise is refreshing as the woman finally free of her awful marriage and once she gets to taste what true passion is she grabs it by the horns and never lets go. Even when faced with the undeniable fact that her life could be forfeit at any time, she holds her head up and continues on with dignity. You never know what your going to get with Ms. Haymore, but you know it's going to shine. I happily recommend THE SCOUNDREL'S SEDUCTION and all of the previous reads in the House of Trent series by Jennifer Haymore. Disappointment is not a possibility.

Coming into this series at the present book and I will admit that there is much in the past I would like to have known better. Nonetheless, I was entirely engrossed in this tale.
Audrey Cringlewood wants to be loved and be in love when it comes time to marry. Her parents did not have the loving relationship that Audrey dreams of and her father is aloof to her and her gambling drunkard of a brother. Audrey's had a few seasons, but the only man who has sparked her interest is the handsome Lord Trent Runtherford. Trent may find Audrey attractive and appealing, but deception in his past has turned him off the idea of marriage. Even after a passionate kiss and Audrey's complete sensual awakening, Trent let's her down with his telling her they can be friends, but that is all.
Lord Trent Rutherford spent some time in France helping the English crown with information. While there, he fell in love with a local beauty, married her and was betrayed by her. After her death, he returns to his homeland a changed man. No longer can he be trusting and caring. He needs to keep all at bay. When he returns to England, he throws himself into a full on bachelor lifestyle of loose women and gaming, until his meets the innocent beauty named Audrey, who turns his insides out and makes him want to run for the hills. When other suitors begin taking interest in Audrey and one of them Trent seems unsavory, he sets out to protect Audrey from the rogue, only to fall hook. line and sinker for her whilst in full denial all the way.
When an inkling of acceptance makes Trent want to male an offer for Audrey's hand, a letter arrives from France changing the game and when Audrey is faced with not only her ruination, but her heart breaking, she is left with making decisions that go against all she ever stood for. Once Trent finally realizes Audrey is absolutely the one for him, he now has to set out to convince her of his sincerity, because in all honesty, the man has completely made a mess of things.
DANCING WITH A DEVIL by Julie Johnstone is intrigue, passion and excitement. When characters make me want to throttle them with a cane then hug them to pieces, the author's job has been expertly done. Now that I have come in on the third tale, I am excited about going back and seeing where it all began and eagerly await anything else that the ever so talented Miss Johnstone has to say. DANCING WITH A DEVIL had me up until the birds began chirping and I read the last word. Now that's good book!(less)

Apparently most of the ton believes he did and it makes it quite difficult for the man to find a new wife. His prerequisite for the woman in question is she be a biddable and easy going female, who stays in the background and doesn't attract any undue attention. The only issue for Noble Britton is that he meets the half- American Gillian Leigh and his prerequisites sort of fly out the window when she piques an interest in him like no other can.
Gillian Leigh is not your usual female. The pretty lady is quite a calamity Jane with a extremely outspoken personality. One of Gillian's attributes definitely is her honesty. When Noble and Gillian, who have two totally different meanings for marriage, finally end up together, their union is nothing like each expected at all. Noble insists that Gillian learn to be the type of wife he has in mind, always obedient and attentive. His over-handedness is driving her to distraction. On their wedding day, when she finds she is now stepmother to a young boy she didn't even know existed, she throws herself into being a mother the boy never really had, confusing Noble to no end. The more Gillian does, the more the wall Noble has built around his heart begins to crumble with each day in the unconventional Gillian's presence. Even his running off to London to gird his loins, so to speak, against his beguiling wife is no protection from her sheer determination to break down his resistance and open him up to her good intentions and the love she so easily gives those around her.
Mishap and mayhem seem to follow Gillian and Noble in their quest for a peaceful marriage, not all of the mishap the fault of the quirky Gillian. When Gillian sets out to get to the root of Noble's issues, she puts herself in danger, awakening Noble's feelings as well as the protective side that was all but hidden.
NOBLE INTENTIONS by Katie MacAlister is a stupendous read. I simply love when two so different characters with such strong-willed personalities come to the realization that they are so meant for one another. Noble comes to terms that he can't mold Gillian into that perfect little package that he set out to achieve, and he truly wouldn't want to, because with all of her surprising and odd behavior, she is perfect as she is, even if she burns the house down around them. Gillian was from the get-go so accepting of everything Noble threw at her.. She was grab it, own it and fix it like she only Gillian knows how, with humor, caring and a touch of insanity. This is my very first read by Katie MacAlister and I yearn for more. What a talent! Grab NOBLE INTENTIONS by Katie MacAlister as soon as you can, and enjoy the ride.

She and her toddler son have wormed their way into the hearts and lives of her adoptive townspeople and she even has a protector in the form of Josiah McClintock, who has his own secrets and crosses to bear. Laura has not had it easy. Her young life has so much tragedy it's amazing how this woman can take it and not want to just lie down and cease living.
Josiah McClintock has been watching out for Laura since she came to Alder Gulch. There's just something about her that make him constantly have her in mind. Laura cannot understand they whys of Josiah's interest. She's nobody, broken and alone but for her precious boy. Josiah has never told the occupants of Alder Gulch and it's surroundings the true facts of his life. He wonders if they knew, would they still accept him. He thrives on the day to day. He isn't afraid of hard work and there's just a peaceful quality about him that is attractive. Josiah watches his friends marry and have children and is torn about whether he wants the same for himself. Josiah knows that Laura still has nightmares of her life with Frank, who she is sure is dead. What if he isn't dead? What if Laura's leaving his home and seeking refuge with her sister and her family leads to more anguish? These things are never far from either Laura's, or Josiah's mind for that matter.
When her nightmares become reality how will Laura survive losing all that she holds precious? It takes Josiah's staunch determination and his willingness to open his heart for Laura to realize she is better in this world instead of the next.
BLUE HORIZON by Hildie McQueen in the fourth novella in the Shades of Blue series or Western Romantic stories and it not for the faint of heart. BLUE HORIZON is a tear-jerker with so much feeling. There is tragedy and there is hope and understanding. Josiah and Laura are fabulous additions to the cast of characters in the Shades of Blue series. They stand on their own and are as unforgettable as is BLUE HORIZON. I truly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it to all. Be prepared for some tears or sadness and then some of joy, something Hildie McQueen is so great at writing.

After all, he is the one that all his men look to and look up to. He is a good man who feels he doesn't have much going for him after he allows his unfaithful ex have everything.
On the eve of the deployment he is goaded into taking time out with the men and some of their wives and girlfriends at a bar. He reluctantly goes along. The last thing he was thinking about was meeting a woman who would spur his interest, but that's exactly what happened.
Jen St. John has been through her own bit of anguish and has scars to prove it. After her own marriage fails, she feels somewhat unworthy of love and the daily reminder of her scars are proof enough for her to hide behind. A nurse in the military hospital, Jen deals on a daily basis with soldiers and their life threatening injuries unbeknownst to them, she is somewhat able to relate to them.
When Jen accompanies her friend out to a bar the night before the friend's husband leaves for his deployment, she finds herself attracted to the handsome but intense Sergeant When the evening ends in a kiss that neither soldier knew was coming, it changes them irrevocably.
Shane goes off to war with the constant reminder of that kiss while Jen remains on the home-front with it lingering in her mind. When the unthinkable happens and Shane is badly injured and sent to the very hospital Jen works, both must overcome their heartache and the ills that could make or break them.
I was very impressed with Because of You by Jessica Scott. Her first book, Because of You is gritty and honest. The reality that Jessica Scott may have lived through situations like this by way of her own military experience is daunting. This book has given me a greater respect for those you fight to protect our freedom as well as feel a sadness due to the trials and tribulations they must deal with on their own turf. It's not an in your face love story, it's subtle and cautious. Shane and Jen have more against them than the average couple and watching them work through their issues while trying to be productive and needed individuals in their daily lives is so refreshing. There are several back-stories going on that only add to the story and make one think, what's coming next. I eagerly await the release of the Jessica Scott's second book and recommend Because of You to all.

A fan of the Beartooth, Montana series from day one I again was beyond happy to have a chance to read the third installment, FORSAKEN before its release date. FORSAKEN by the ultra gifted B.J. Daniels grabs the reader's attention from the first paragraph with her knack for suspense and keeps the reader enveloped in her mystery until the very end.
Bentley Jamison is the new kid on the block. The handsome lawyer from back East comes to the West as Deputy Sheriff for the town. Sheriff Frank Curry is away to see the daughter who was institutionalized for trying to kill her own him. While Curry is away tragedy strikes. From out of the mountains races sheep rancher, Maddie Connor's young tender Dewey, terrified out of his mind about what just happened up in the mountains, where he and sheep herder, Branch, we tending Maddie's flock. The boy appears with blood on him and says he can't recall all that happened.
Maddie Curry is the last of a dying breed of sheep ranchers Even after she loses her husband and son in an avalanche she, continues what she believes is her legacy, but with her dear friend and sheep herder, Branch missing and possibly dead, Maddie knows her days as a rancher are numbered. When she meets Deputy Sheriff Brantley Jamison she scoffs at him, thinking that because he isn't from the area that he is completely out of his element. The two set off on a difficult trek into the mountains with a bad snowstorm nipping at their heels to find Branch and see to Maddie's flock. Maddie soon finds herself wrong about the handsome Deputy and at the same time attracted to him during their misadventure.
In the meantime, back in town, store owner Nettie Benton, who has been in love with Frank Curry for years, still finds herself being pushed away by the love of her life and she's finds it becoming tiresome. When bad boy of old, J.D. West comes back to town after a very long sabbatical, Sheriff Curry finds the need to watch his back because J.D. has eyes for Nettie. When J.D. saves Nettie's life after she is almost run down by someone from Frank's past, J.D. finds himself as savior to Nettie and possible paramour.
While Deputy Jamison and Maddie try to solve the mystery up in the snowy mountains, Sheriff Curry deals with his own issues. When the past becomes a danger to his future Frank needs to decide what is more important, settling scores or his relationship. Jamison has a similar dilemma with the refreshing yet stubborn widow. Maddie and Brantley still dwell on their pasts, but their emerging feelings for one another can overcome anything if they can just get through the storm.
I honestly don't know how this woman does it. B.J. Daniels can write several stories going on at the same time and keeps the reader enthralled with it all. There is a lot of nail-biting and gasping that goes on from cover to cover. So much more happens on in FORSAKEN that I can't even begin to tell you about because I don't want to give anything away. Just know this, FORSAKEN by B.J. Daniels, is well worth picking up. Ms. Daniels to me is a Goddess of Romantic Suspense and I tip my hat to her for giving us another well written and intriguing saga. In addition, the romance that occurs between these mostly, what are considered middle aged men and women are so refreshing, they make me smile from ear to ear. Finally, someone who understands that not just twenty somethings can have gripping romantic interludes and knows that love can be found at any age! Now if she will only give my two favorite characters their day in the sun, I will be a very content reader, until then, I guess my nails will be nubs. Pick up your copy of FORSAKEN by B.J. Daniels when it releases on September 24th and if you haven't read the first two books in the Beartooth Montana series, UNFORGIVEN and REDEMPTION, or the Prequel to the series, FALLEN, you got your work cut out for you because I recommend them all highly!(less)
