The House of Trent series is on the very top of my list as one of the best series I have ever read and I am so eager to see each and every Hawkins sibling have their day in the sun.
Sam Hawkins has been secretly working for years for the English government to protect the Regent and the crown against any harm foreign or domestic. His mission this time, is to eliminate the Earl of Duthorpe, who has been in league with the French against the English crown for many years. Upon the Earl's demise, Sam realizes there is a witness to his crime in the form of Lady Elise Dunthorpe, who had been hiding under a table while Sam did the deed. Discombobulated and angry with himself, Sam grabs the lady and takes her to await further instructions from his superiors.
The French born Elise has adopted England as her homeland and protective shelter. France was not good to her as she lost all she loved and cared for before fleeing with the friend Marie. Married in her tender years to the older Earl, the marriage was a fiasco. Elise was unable to bear the Earl an heir and she was treated poorly for it as well as being harangued for being French. Elise knew deep down that her husband was in league against his own country, but she couldn't prove it and when her husband finally meets his end, she is hardly the mourning widow.
Sam knows she must hate him for what she saw, she may even be involved in his nefarious plots against the crown. Then why is he so damn attracted to her? Sam has had a tumultuous life. Raised as a Hawkins, in the House of Trent, all bets are off when his mother disappeared over a year ago and the siblings find out that most are illegitimate. They scramble to discover the Duchess of Trent's whereabouts and even now, Sam and his brothers and sister are close to answers, but first Sam needs to take care of the issue of Elise. That becomes the most difficult of tasks, when he finds himself falling hard for the beauty who insists she is innocent of any wrongdoing other than not being sad the Earl is gone.
When order from high places make Sam choose a side he never thought he would, he and Pippa end up both on the run from both sides of the coin and almost on top of the Duchess of Trent. Sam's hard choices and new discoveries change his life forever, will that life continue with Lady Elise or not?
So many questions answered and new beginnings! THE SCOUNDREL'S SEDUCTION by the impressive Jennifer Haymore is yet another notch in her belt of winners as far as I am concerned. Her unconventional take on romance attracts like a moth to a flame. Such an intriguing character, Sam gets to show the reader there is more to his illegitimacy and the heart this man has only draw one in deeper. Elise is refreshing as the woman finally free of her awful marriage and once she gets to taste what true passion is she grabs it by the horns and never lets go. Even when faced with the undeniable fact that her life could be forfeit at any time, she holds her head up and continues on with dignity. You never know what your going to get with Ms. Haymore, but you know it's going to shine. I happily recommend THE SCOUNDREL'S SEDUCTION and all of the previous reads in the House of Trent series by Jennifer Haymore. Disappointment is not a possibility.

Coming into this series at the present book and I will admit that there is much in the past I would like to have known better. Nonetheless, I was entirely engrossed in this tale.
Audrey Cringlewood wants to be loved and be in love when it comes time to marry. Her parents did not have the loving relationship that Audrey dreams of and her father is aloof to her and her gambling drunkard of a brother. Audrey's had a few seasons, but the only man who has sparked her interest is the handsome Lord Trent Runtherford. Trent may find Audrey attractive and appealing, but deception in his past has turned him off the idea of marriage. Even after a passionate kiss and Audrey's complete sensual awakening, Trent let's her down with his telling her they can be friends, but that is all.
Lord Trent Rutherford spent some time in France helping the English crown with information. While there, he fell in love with a local beauty, married her and was betrayed by her. After her death, he returns to his homeland a changed man. No longer can he be trusting and caring. He needs to keep all at bay. When he returns to England, he throws himself into a full on bachelor lifestyle of loose women and gaming, until his meets the innocent beauty named Audrey, who turns his insides out and makes him want to run for the hills. When other suitors begin taking interest in Audrey and one of them Trent seems unsavory, he sets out to protect Audrey from the rogue, only to fall hook. line and sinker for her whilst in full denial all the way.
When an inkling of acceptance makes Trent want to male an offer for Audrey's hand, a letter arrives from France changing the game and when Audrey is faced with not only her ruination, but her heart breaking, she is left with making decisions that go against all she ever stood for. Once Trent finally realizes Audrey is absolutely the one for him, he now has to set out to convince her of his sincerity, because in all honesty, the man has completely made a mess of things.
DANCING WITH A DEVIL by Julie Johnstone is intrigue, passion and excitement. When characters make me want to throttle them with a cane then hug them to pieces, the author's job has been expertly done. Now that I have come in on the third tale, I am excited about going back and seeing where it all began and eagerly await anything else that the ever so talented Miss Johnstone has to say. DANCING WITH A DEVIL had me up until the birds began chirping and I read the last word. Now that's good book!(less)

When there's a knock on her door one morning, she could never have imagined handsome new neighbor Simon Austen to be at her doorstep with an interesting package in hand.
When Simon sees scruffy looking Eve, he is instantly attracted to the sleepy-eyed woman. The two being a hot and heavy affair, that is so hot, they agree to re-examine the relationship in six months time. Where will they be in six months? Read Apartment 4B and find out?
What a great story. Not very heavy on the BDSM... just a bit of a dabble. The novella is well told and the characters are so good together. Both Eve and Austen have been single for several years and relationship wary. I really enjoy the direction the Tethered Arms books are going and I think you will too. Sahara Kelly has a knack for romance and a great sense of humor. Loved this!!!

Adam is a grade school teacher married to Laura,a lawyer, for the past five years. Things are beginning to become a little ho-hum in the bedroom. Although they love each other immensely, their lives have become utterly routine..
That is until Laura discovers that Adam has been withholding from her a side of himself he locked away when they became a couple. Adam was a Dom, and quite accomplished at it as well. Can high-powered attorney Laura give her husband what he needs. Can she let go and become the sexual submissive that Adam as never even attempted to draw out of her? Silly people... you must read this one to find out!!!
Oh wow, I really enjoyed this one and found it inspiring. Sahara is no holds barred. Sometimes I have to admit that when I read a novella, afterward I feel cheated, that something was lacking. This is definitely not the case with these Tethered Arms stories. I am eager to read the next 2 and hope that Sahara has more planned.

Apparently most of the ton believes he did and it makes it quite difficult for the man to find a new wife. His prerequisite for the woman in question is she be a biddable and easy going female, who stays in the background and doesn't attract any undue attention. The only issue for Noble Britton is that he meets the half- American Gillian Leigh and his prerequisites sort of fly out the window when she piques an interest in him like no other can.
Gillian Leigh is not your usual female. The pretty lady is quite a calamity Jane with a extremely outspoken personality. One of Gillian's attributes definitely is her honesty. When Noble and Gillian, who have two totally different meanings for marriage, finally end up together, their union is nothing like each expected at all. Noble insists that Gillian learn to be the type of wife he has in mind, always obedient and attentive. His over-handedness is driving her to distraction. On their wedding day, when she finds she is now stepmother to a young boy she didn't even know existed, she throws herself into being a mother the boy never really had, confusing Noble to no end. The more Gillian does, the more the wall Noble has built around his heart begins to crumble with each day in the unconventional Gillian's presence. Even his running off to London to gird his loins, so to speak, against his beguiling wife is no protection from her sheer determination to break down his resistance and open him up to her good intentions and the love she so easily gives those around her.
Mishap and mayhem seem to follow Gillian and Noble in their quest for a peaceful marriage, not all of the mishap the fault of the quirky Gillian. When Gillian sets out to get to the root of Noble's issues, she puts herself in danger, awakening Noble's feelings as well as the protective side that was all but hidden.
NOBLE INTENTIONS by Katie MacAlister is a stupendous read. I simply love when two so different characters with such strong-willed personalities come to the realization that they are so meant for one another. Noble comes to terms that he can't mold Gillian into that perfect little package that he set out to achieve, and he truly wouldn't want to, because with all of her surprising and odd behavior, she is perfect as she is, even if she burns the house down around them. Gillian was from the get-go so accepting of everything Noble threw at her.. She was grab it, own it and fix it like she only Gillian knows how, with humor, caring and a touch of insanity. This is my very first read by Katie MacAlister and I yearn for more. What a talent! Grab NOBLE INTENTIONS by Katie MacAlister as soon as you can, and enjoy the ride.

She and her toddler son have wormed their way into the hearts and lives of her adoptive townspeople and she even has a protector in the form of Josiah McClintock, who has his own secrets and crosses to bear. Laura has not had it easy. Her young life has so much tragedy it's amazing how this woman can take it and not want to just lie down and cease living.
Josiah McClintock has been watching out for Laura since she came to Alder Gulch. There's just something about her that make him constantly have her in mind. Laura cannot understand they whys of Josiah's interest. She's nobody, broken and alone but for her precious boy. Josiah has never told the occupants of Alder Gulch and it's surroundings the true facts of his life. He wonders if they knew, would they still accept him. He thrives on the day to day. He isn't afraid of hard work and there's just a peaceful quality about him that is attractive. Josiah watches his friends marry and have children and is torn about whether he wants the same for himself. Josiah knows that Laura still has nightmares of her life with Frank, who she is sure is dead. What if he isn't dead? What if Laura's leaving his home and seeking refuge with her sister and her family leads to more anguish? These things are never far from either Laura's, or Josiah's mind for that matter.
When her nightmares become reality how will Laura survive losing all that she holds precious? It takes Josiah's staunch determination and his willingness to open his heart for Laura to realize she is better in this world instead of the next.
BLUE HORIZON by Hildie McQueen in the fourth novella in the Shades of Blue series or Western Romantic stories and it not for the faint of heart. BLUE HORIZON is a tear-jerker with so much feeling. There is tragedy and there is hope and understanding. Josiah and Laura are fabulous additions to the cast of characters in the Shades of Blue series. They stand on their own and are as unforgettable as is BLUE HORIZON. I truly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it to all. Be prepared for some tears or sadness and then some of joy, something Hildie McQueen is so great at writing.

Miss Matilda Sheldon could care less what people think about her. Unlike her sisters who always the height of fashion and comportment, Matilda thrives to disappear into the background wherever she goes. Her only interest is opening and running an orphanage and to care for those orphans who have nothing. Her lovely but dim-witted sisters are on the lookout for suitors and consistently peck at Matilda about her drab appearance.
The Duke of Thornsby needs to find himself a bride, one that would fit into his lifestyle well but not overtake his life. The clock is ticking for the duke though, for unless he marries by the time he turns thirty he stands to lose his inheritance, but his scandalous reputation keeps the eligible ladies and their marriage minded mothers at a distance ans the pickings are slim for the handsome duke.
The Sheldon sisters, daughters of the 6th Earl of Bisset are quite the trio. While two are quite attractive and social, they are pretty much airheads, and Matilda, the middle daughter while dull in appearance, is intelligent and quite mouthy when she feels it's necessary. When the duke meets the outspoken Miss Sheldon, neither of their lives will ever be the same. While the duke needs to marry, and quickly, Matlida wants nothing to do with it. When the pair are caught in a compromising position placing Matilda's reputation at risk, instead of going the marriage route, she runs the other way leaving the duke in a state of confusion. Matilda is quite confused herself, for even though she says she will never marry, she has developed feelings for Thornsby and doesn't know what to do about them. In the wings, Matilda's beloved grandmother and the duke's sister champion for the pair to wake up and smell the proverbial coffee.
When Matlida refuses Thornsby's suit he needs to find an alternate solution to his problem. His subsequent proposal to an unsavory lady of the ton prompts quite a few displeasing incidents, one of extreme import is the disappearance of the two children who were left in the duke's care by their mother. a servant of the duke's who passed away, leaving the children alone. When the duke realizes his huge mistake in his proposal to the obnoxious lady he quickly dismisses her, but not before she threatens to make his life miserable. Now Thornsby must make an attempt to court Matilda, for as he finally realizes, she is definitely the lady for him.
CHARMING THE DUKE by the smart and sassy Holly Bush, is a fabulous read from beginning to end. Holly's unbeatable sense of humor and her remarkable storytelling shine through in CHARMING THE DUKE.. I thought the duke was going to be a stodgy bore of a hero and was so pleasantly surprised by his reaction to Matilda that he has wormed his way into being my new book boyfriend. Matilda's bright determination make her such an interesting heroine. Miss Bush is as comfortable in Regency England as she is in the American Mid-West and I will follow this brilliant writer anywhere.

You get DASH OF PERIL by Lori Foster, of course. DASH OF PERIL may be the 4th and last book in the Love Undercover series, but you can read this as a stand alone if you haven't read the last three.
Lieutenant Margaret (Margo) Peterson's doesn't end when her shift is over, this determined and gutsy woman is always business. Determined to bring down the low-lifes who are kidnapping women off the streets and leaving them for dead. Using herself as bait hasn't been getting her anywhere until her car gets t-boned by some of these bad guys who want her eliminated. Lucky for Margo, Dashiel (Dash) Riske, who has a serious case of the hots for the lieutenant and decides to tail her to make sure she gets home safe from her outing, when he sees the frightening accident happen, he springs into action to save her.
Margo comes away with a dislocated elbow among her cuts and bruises, but she also comes away with Dash as her personal chauffeur and bodyguard until things get back to normal. Only this highly strung, take charge woman is not used to taking a back seat and she is extremely uncomfortable with any help from this man, who is the brother of one of her officers.
Dash knows how to play Margo like a fine tuned piano in more ways than one. He gets the always in work mode Margo to slow down and experience a feminine side she never knew she had, while allowing her to be the bad-ass cop on the job. When the heat is turned up and now civilian Dash is thrown into the mix, Margo is more determined than ever to bring down the pornography ring that has a hit out on her now. In addition to that Margo's past is coming back to haunt her from her department cleanup, which included her own cold as ice father.
What a way to end a series. DASH OF PERIL by the indomitable Lori Foster is a gripping and sexy read. I absolutely love Dash's demeanor. This is a man with a plan and once he decides that Margo is going to be his, he is brilliant about making that a reality. He is sexy but not cocky about it, he is all man with the knowledge of just exactly what his woman needs. Margo hasn't had the perfect up-bringing and that has affected her to this day. Always seeking acceptance from her father who has never shown her any outward affection or understanding and has even openly shown his disdain for her. Margo rises above all that in the professional department, but is completely out of sorts when confronted with her attraction to Dash and his willingness to allow her submissive in the bedroom and tough nails lieutenant outside of said bedroom. These two characters play off each other so well and even have all of their surrounding counterparts with eyebrows raised. DASH OF PERIL is a great read that I highly recommend. (less)

Jace thinks his best friend's little sister is beyond annoying with her foul mouth and flippant attitude and Tara thinks Jace is overbearing and obnoxious and then they end up being traveling companions on the Central States Rodeo Circuit and the gloves are off... or are they on?
When the car that Tara purchases to help her complete her sports medicine internship decides to die, Tara is left at the mercy of Jace Mills who needs to get out of "Dodge" real quick. Even though Jace broke up with his ex, Jacqueline a year ago, they still have a love/hate relationship going on in the form of extreme booty calls and knock down fights that Jace now feels he needs to avoid like the plague. So Jace thinks it a good idea to get back on some bulls, stay far away from his stalker and help Tara with finish her internship. All the while, this high strung female and sexy alpha male agree that their mutual dislike of one another will be the perfect reason to travel in each other's company. In addition to his wanting to run away from his ex, Tara needs to distance herself from the man she has been in love with her former neighbor, Logan Hunt, who up and married Emma, leaving Tara heartbroken. So two broken emotionally impaired people, who say they dislike one another decide to travel around the central states a in truck, stay in the same hotel room and remain platonic? Who are they joking? Especially wen author Cat Johnson is involved.
Tara is clearly out of her league with the attention she is garnering from all the rookie bull riders, but once she is determined she wants something, not much can stop this force to be reckoned with from seeking out some of the sexual experience she is over eager to get. When Jace catches her in a broom closet at a bar playing an "adult" version of Seven Minutes in Heaven with a newbie bull rider, his alpha male is in full gear and he decides to show Tara the difference between a boy and a man. From the first kiss the pair's passion sizzles and threatens to ignite. Jace can't get the thought out of his head that this is his best friend's little sister and he would in no way want to betray the trust that Tuck has bestowed on Jace when he placed his baby sister in Jace's hands. Tara has other ideas though and they involve getting as much sexual experience as she can possibly get from Jace and still retain the status quo of indifference... Haha, whatever Tara.
Jace has no idea the monster he has unleashed by just awakening the passions in Tara with his kisses and the resolve she has to get what she wants makes Jace no match for her feminine wiles.
The one word that comes to my mind immediately when I think of Three Weeks with a Bull Rider by Cat Johnson is HOT, and Cat knows very well how to write HOT along with a fabulous and memorable story. Those readers invested in The Oklahoma Nights series think they know the characters well, until they read this book. Let's face it, Tara is a brat in Two Times As Hot, and even when this story begins, I was a tad in "hate" with her. On the other hand, I always loved Jace. Yes, I like the underdog. Jace's personality was always one that shines through for me. I was so excited to see what Cat Johnson would do with him in this book and I am exceedingly happy with the outcome. The intimate scenes are explosive, but never overboard. Tara's need to explore is enticing and romantic, even if she thinks it isn't. Three Weeks with a Bull Rider is my new favorite, maybe until Tyler's tale, we shall see. Cat Johnson ability to come up with something fresh and evocative makes Three Weeks with a Bull Rider a remarkable read. I highly recommend this exceptional ride, along with every book in the Oklahoma Nights series.

Making up for the kidnapping of Francesca Chastain, this Irishman from New York who ran with the bad crowd was now working a wagon train to Oregon helping settlers get to their new futures. Among the crowd, Josephine Chastain, self-proclaimed bookworm and former governess eyes Declan with suspicion but also with interest. Josephine, sister to Francesca began to notice the gruff and bearded Declan more and more each day on the trail and became smitten with the big, brooding male when he paid attention to her. Declan is also attracted to the bespectacled lass but knows deep down he is deserving of no one because of his upbringing and his past indiscretions.
When Josephine falls seriously ill with Typhoid fever, Declan remains behind in a town along the route to nurse her back to health, promising her parents that he will see her through her illness and return her to her parents the following season. After three awful weeks in the clutches of the fever, Josephine awakens to the shock and surprise that by some twist of fate, she is now Mrs. Declan Calhoun. Not too disturbed by the revelation of being married to the now clean shaven and gorgeous specimen of a man, Josephine takes this marriage of a sign and wants to make the marriage a real one. Declan on the other hand attempts to steer clear of the blossoming Jo but finds it extremely difficult with her forthright tongue and her eagerness to become a wife.
Declan and Josephine escape their quarantine when Declan realizes it's a false one and he is being milked dry for every penny he has by the unscrupulous town dentist, Frank Drummond and his henchman Parker. Declan must get Josephine to her sister Francesca and her new husband John, but with the men in pursuit and and even the wilds against them time is not on their sides. As the days go on, Josephine has come to the realization she is in love with her brooding Irishman and needs to convince him their relationship is one worth fighting for, even when Declan, who is every bit in love with Josephine as she is with him, knows he can never be what Jo needs and wants. When Declan finally tells Josephine a truth he has been withholding from her, she doesn't know if she can forgive him, and Declan doesn't know if he wants to be forgiven.
In typical Beth Williamson fashion, The Prospect draws the reader into the action, the danger and the seduction of the story. The intricate web of trust and understanding woven between Declan and Josephine is the basis for the ultimate letdown when Josephine is told Declan's truth. The woman she has become since the beginning of the journey from East to West will not stand for deception and for pity, and Declan's realization of that throws him for a loop.
I truly loved The Prospect. I love stories about bringing people together from seemingly different walks of life, and Beth Williamson is a master in the scheme of things.

I begin by saying that NIGHT OF PLEASURE by Delilah Marvelle has me in awe of her ability to tell a story, grab the reader and not let go until the final word. Delilah's writing is evocative and sensual.
Since the young age of seventeen, and upon his beloved father's deathbed, Derek Charles Holbrook, became and Viscount and a husband to be in the same day. Although he has come to accept and even look forward to the day when his betrothed American heiress, Miss Clementine Grey, becomes his wife, she has other ideas which don't include marriage to the in need of funds Holbrook.
For close to ten years, Derek has prepared himself for this marriage. He has an image of exactly how his bride will be, how his life will be and even how is children will be, but when Clementine and her father travel across the Atlantic for the upcoming nuptials, she isn't going to make his dreams come true. In fact, Clementine is going to turn Derek's world upside down while he figures a way to fulfill his legacy and the promise he made to his father.
Clementine is a stubborn one. She has her mind set on traveling to Persia where even though she is unsure of the outcome, prefers the exotic unknown to marriage to an honorable man of the English ton. She's befriended by a Persian prince who has plans for Clementine but when she attempts to explain her situation to Derek without actually giving the true nature of her relationship to the prince, his mind immediately believes there is something more going on and he will stop at nothing from discovering all there is to know, even if it happens to put him in danger. Will Derek persevere and get the stubborn Clementine where he wants her? Will Clementine put her misconceptions about marriage behind her and see what's in front of her? Please, you really don't think I'm going to tell you, do you?
Delilah Marvelle has cemented her place at the top of my must read list. Delilah writes a sensual romance like no other. She is a brilliant writer and I am always in awe of what she puts to pen, so to speak. The School of Gallantry series only keeps getting better and better, if that's even possible for the perfection I believe that this amazing writer has already achieved. I declare that I am total team Derek, as I have loved him since he first appeared in the School of Gallantry books. He is sexy, smart and oh so honorable. So much has been placed on this man's back that I wondered through the entire story if he would break. Clementine, as stubborn as she is, is a great heroine, despite my wanting to have the ability to strangle her on occasion while reading NIGHT OF PLEASURE . Delilah Marvelle just has that innate ability to suck me in and completely mess with my emotions, and that to me is awesome! I highly recommend NIGHT OF PLEASURE by Delilah Marvelle to all, and every other book in the School of Gallantry Series, for they are well worth the read.

After her own marriage fails, she feels somewhat unworthy of love and the daily reminder of her scars are proof enough for her to hide behind. A nurse in the military hospital, Jen deals on a daily basis with soldiers and their life threatening injuries unbeknownst to them, she is somewhat able to relate to them.
When Jen accompanies her friend out to a bar the night before the friend's husband leaves for his deployment, she finds herself attracted to the handsome but intense Sergeant When the evening ends in a kiss that neither soldier knew was coming, it changes them irrevocably.
Shane goes off to war with the constant reminder of that kiss while Jen remains on the home-front with it lingering in her mind. When the unthinkable happens and Shane is badly injured and sent to the very hospital Jen works, both must overcome their heartache and the ills that could make or break them.
I was very impressed with Because of You by Jessica Scott. Her first book, Because of You is gritty and honest. The reality that Jessica Scott may have lived through situations like this by way of her own military experience is daunting. This book has given me a greater respect for those you fight to protect our freedom as well as feel a sadness due to the trials and tribulations they must deal with on their own turf. It's not an in your face love story, it's subtle and cautious. Shane and Jen have more against them than the average couple and watching them work through their issues while trying to be productive and needed individuals in their daily lives is so refreshing. There are several back-stories going on that only add to the story and make one think, what's coming next. I eagerly await the release of the Jessica Scott's second book and recommend Because of You to all.
