There isAuthor Christi Caldwell's Montlake debut, THE ROGUE'S WAGER (Sinful Brides Book 1), is a shining example of brilliance encompassed in a book. There is simply no other way to describe this work of art.
Lord Robert Dennington is a cynic when it comes to women and relationships. At the impressionable age of 21 he walked in on the fiancée he thought he loved, in a very compromising position with his own grandfather. That defining moment altered Robert from the young man in love to the rogue who keeps everyone at arm's length. Robert knows that someday he will have to do right buy his title of Marquess of Westfield and marry to secure the next generation, but he is determined that the woman he chooses be interested only in his title. Until that time however, he will do as he pleases, and in excess.
Helena Banbury, a bookkeeper in a gentleman's club, is a Miss of dubious beginnings and a savant when it comes to numbers. Her job as her "brothers" club's bookkeeper keeps her busy and well away from the public... that is until the night when a very soused Robert Dennington wanders into the private area of the Hell and Sin club and wakes up on on the wrong side of town and in the bedroom of Helena Banbury. The plot thickens when Helena's brother, upon discovering his sister had the Marquis in her abode, sends her to live with her father in town. Helena is an unwanted reminder of her father's infidelity to his wife and is treated with disdain by the woman. Helena however, has the determination of steel, for even though she would much rather be back at the Hell & Sin Club, she won't let anyone make her feel less than she is.
Although from two different worlds, Robert and Helena's acquaintance steadily becomes a friendship and much more. Robert's trust issues are at the forefront and Helena's abusive childhood and its lingering effects make for one of the most amazing and intense love stories to date. Not a read for the faint of heart, A ROGUE'S WAGER by the prolific Christi Caldwell is the journey of a lifetime and a veritable roller coaster of emotion. Christi Caldwell never ceases to hold this reader well within her grasp with every golden tale spun. This first in the new SINFUL BRIDES series is a winner and I eagerly await the next one! A SPRING DECEPTION, the second book in the SEASON'S series by the wonderful author, Jess Michaels is a brilliant intriguing suspense and well as sizzling romance. I have adored every book I have read by Ms. Michaels so far, but this book is definitely a favorite with it's twists and turns. This book has me biting nails and swearing throughout as Celia, so completely deceived but so deeply desired discovers she cannot take everything in front of her for fact. Aidan/John is a fascinating character with a past that will melt hearts. A SPRING DECEPTION by Jess Michaels is a tale, not to be missed. ...more

Terrified out of her wits, Prudence has no idea if she will survive. The spinster had high hopes of finding herself a husband when she arrived on the Bride Train but as the other woman before her have found their Happily Ever Afters, Prudence still is searching.
When Archer Childers misguided brothers show up at his doorstep with an unwilling bride, he must make things right before they all land in prison, but a bungled attempted escape leaves Prudence unconscious and injured, Arch needs to nurse her back to health and convince her to marry him.
The plot thickens when Prudence, although taken in by the handsome bounder whose sly smirk could melt an iceberg, is certain the pair just won't work. When she learns of his profession, Prudence is more determined to run the other way due to her staunch Christian upbringing and ideas. Before Arch realizes it, he has fallen for Prudence, but breaking through her steel exterior is a harder than he ever thought possible.
I simply love E.E. BURKE'S Bride Train series. It's well written and exciting with TEMPTING PRUDENCE as no exception. I adore how Arch opens Pru's eyes to look at herself for the woman she is and put behind her the unfeeling words and actions those in her past said and did to affect her so. Arch is a patient and understanding hero. When his brothers essentially break the law and kidnap Prudence, he's left with the aftermath. TEMPTING PRUDENCE is a great addition to E.E. BURKE'S Bride Train series and I look forward to the next one! ...more

Two weeks before his wedding, Darius, the Earl of Redgrave leaves his betrothed bride jilted while he flees to marry another under nefarious circumstances. Now, four years after the incident and his wife's death, Redgrave is back in London to choose a wife. Redgrave has some idea of what he wants in a wife, but no one compares once he sees Lady Mary.
Shocked and dismayed that the Earl of Redgrave would have the gall to show himself in town after his ruination of her sister, Lady Mary is perplexed when she can't get him out of her head. The cad left her sister two weeks before the wedding. Granted, out of that scandal, her sister found her one true love, but the journey there was a bitter one that the family is scarce to forget.
Avoiding Redgrave is impossible since he has taken on the the charitable task of helping out in the orphanage where Lady Mary also works. Those evening delights of ton balls and gatherings don't help much in the avoidance realm either.
Once Mary begins to see the man inside the handsome exterior, she wonders if what happened those fateful four years ago was entirely William's fault. Secrets between them keep one another at arms length but when those secrets begin to come to light William's protective side take over and he will risk it all to make sure that Mary isn't hurt again, even if he must take himself out of the equation.
Mary is wary of giving her trust to another man after an incident with another man left her skittish of men in general, so while she begins to open her heart to William, that incident years before comes to the forefront, when the bounder from her past reappears making her rethink her relationship with William.
THE EARL'S RETURN is the final book in the Marriage Mart and Mayhem series by Callie Hutton, but can be read as a stand alone. This book is an enjoyable and well written read that will make you run the gamut of emotions whilst watching William and Mary reach for their HEA....more

I hope that author Tracey J. Lyons continues to write stories like this one, because I am now hooked. This well written historical set in the Northeast opens a whole new realm for this reader and I crave more.
