Ever read a book you wish you could go back and unread so you can experience it for the first time again? That is how I feel about The Boys and the Bees; I loved every word of it and would not change a thing. I found it perfect and the message resonated strongly with me.
Mark Johansen lives in a small town called Why Yell, Iowa which is like pretty much a description of Mark's character. He's a gentle giant whom goes through life making the motions and living to help others. He has a job he doesn't love all because his parents told him to take it, he can't seem to make a connection to the opposite sex or even of that of a same sex relationship. He's just there helping with a slew of nieces/nephews and immature siblings. Mark finds himself at local co-op picking up groceries with plans of making himself a fabulous meal when he runs into Jaime. He remembers Jaime from high school as being out and proud, and 100% himself (a quality he always liked) since he's practically uncomfortable in his skin. Accidentally Mark leaves behind his wine, and Jaime brings it too him. Jaime admits he had a crush on Mark in high school, Mark invites him to stay for dinner and the sexy time commences. For the first time sex becomes something for Mark, he feels a connection to Jaime and wants too see more of him.
The book gives the slow progression to Jaime and Mark's relationship, and you get to know their characters in-depth. Both their lives are filled with this richness of family, but also with heartache that comes with it. Jaime must care for his ailing father, which puts a strain in their budding romance, and Mark must deal with the reality that he might lose his family for being gay.
Mark's family is a big part of the story and a strain to read because they are just a draining bunch, but is it’s with them I realized how strong Mark is. It boils down to the fact, that Mark does not need them, they need him. He seems like a pushover because of his selflessness but Mark can walk away and thrive, even with his coming out and facing their harsh dismissal (he was the glue).
Mark and Jaime together are so sweet; it makes my heart super happy. They are both so different but provide a wonderful balance for each other. Jaime the fanatic for the environment, and Mark who’s willing to put up with his crazy ways. I just loved the development of their relationship, the pacing and timing is so perfect that you will just believe in their love.
As I said, I really love this book and it will be going on re-read shelf (I wanna go read it again right now). It's a very romantic read, with some hard-hitting realistic elements (unaccepting parents and the religious crazies that fuel them) and unforgettable characters; Mark is going down as one of my faves. I loved his gentle ways, and he seems one dimensional on the surface, but you find out he’s brave and just loves with all his heart.
Should You Read It? Yes, do not even walk to get it run and get it. I am looking forward to more from this author, because The Boys and the Bees is really something special.(less)

I was expecting to like Foxe Tail but man I didn’t expect to love it, and guys do I love it. For the first time in a long time I am tempted to read books in a series back to back (my schedule won’t allow it) but I am thinking of breaking all the rules and buying them all and reading it over wine.
Skyler Foxe has fulfilled his dream of being a teacher in the town he grew up. He got a job at his old high school (which is like a dream come true) so life couldn’t be more perfect. Too bad he’s gay and has to keep that part of his life a secret, and too bad there’s a flamboyant trick outside beating the shit out of his car with a baseball bat. If that doesn’t out him, then he’s one lucky SOB. Needing a little time to unwind (and perhaps a nice hard fuc…) you get my point. Skyler decides to hit the club with his best friend Sidney who happens to be detective. While getting some fresh air Skyler discovers the body of young man, and opens a whole can of worms.
Suddenly Skyler is caught in the midst of murder investigation, and he wants to figure out who that killer is. Because said murderer has made it personal by shooting at him and his friends. As much as Skyler thinks he’s some sort of Sherlock Holmes, he needs to realize that he’s more the Pink Panther type of guy, and should leave it all up to the professionals but Skyler isn’t known for his listening skills or being smart skills. Factor in the weirdness going on at the high school and he has crazy coming from both sides.
There is just so much to love about this book, just so freaking much. I think my top is Skyler’s friends the S.F.C (The Skyler Fuck Club) his previous lovers turned best-friends even the crazy car bashing trick. They all have so much personality and never once felt like character filler. The budding romance between two of Skylers students was so awesomely sweet. I think he really shined as a teacher/person with the handling of his students. Just so much happening, this means there is so much to love.
Foxe Tail can’t be called a romance yet, but hopefully that is where the series is leading in the future. Skyler is getting his slut on just a little too much; then again he’s young and hasn’t found the one person he wants to be with. For a teacher, he never seems to take his work home with him, dude clubs just a little too much. I believe those things sort of irked me but not enough for me to dislike his character.
Overall, I really loved reading this book. It was so entertaining, fun, and the writing is awesome. I can’t wait to read more.
Should You Read It? One word: YES, so freaking awesome and so much fun. I am totally surprised I didn’t come across this one on my own, there should be a lot of buzz about this series, cus it just became crack for my soul.(less)

There’s nothing that gets me more excited than a ménage, and when you throw a Japanese character into it O_O well… I just about lose my mind. The Hot Floor felt like it was written for me cus it embodies all the things I love to read. I am pretty much easy to please, but I do know what I want to read about in order to make a trias relationship work. I think the author did a really good and I can believe in their HEA.
Whenever Josh hangs out with his quirky friend in her apartment, he always gets an earful from the floor above. Denise's very sexy neighbours Rai Nakumura (cus I gotta put in his whole name) and Evan kinky love fest is enough to give Josh a heart attack, but somehow he finds himself lusting after the men. He thinks about what it would be like to get all down and dirty with them, but Josh knows all it will ever come to be is fantasy. First, he's too shy and blushes at the mere mention of sex, and his last boyfriend who dumped him told him he sucked in bed. So he really does not have the confidence to strike up a conversation with them. When Evan and Rai approach him, Josh is shell-shocked. It comes as a surprise when a friendship begins to develop between the men, friendship with an underlying of “I wanna rip our freaking clothes off”.
When Josh literally comes crashing into Rai and Evan's life he fins himself wrapped up in between two men experiencing the most amazing sex of his life. With sex comes doubt and Josh fears driving a wedge between the men, and losing the two men who comes to be his closest friends. Seems it won't be a onetime deal, but Josh still fears the unexpected. What if the flame goes out and suddenly he's being kicked to curb, and Rai/Evan move on to their very established relationship.
The author did some wonderful things making the sex apart of the foundation of their relationship. The friendship part of the story provided a building block to long lasting but it's with all the loving that I think Josh was able to get it. Nothing was ever perfect from the get go, and all the troubles that they encountered really provided a realistic feel and made their relationship all the more believable.
Josh is like the yin to their yang, he's like the personality trait that Ran and Evan are missing. Rai the flamboyant sexphine, Evan the big manly cuddle bear, and Josh shy and undemanding. He is the balance they never even knew they needed. So when it comes to what’s going on in the bedroom, shit is explosive. My pants have disappeared and I am waiting for them to return cus I must do a bit of grocery shopping.
I only had one thing that bothered me, and that’s when Josh was preparing a gift for Evan and Rai. As a glassblower, Josh gets to make beautiful things so I was excited to read about him presenting his gifts to the boys. I didn't get it, and I felt like it would have been a beautiful scene so I was all let down. Though one of the gifts eventually gets buried balls deep in him >.<
Yes, I liked the crap out of it, and loved how their relationship was presented. The ending felt a bit rushed to me (but that could be cus I wanted more). I am down for a Jo Myles ménage any day, she can keep writing about Asian characters I am always down for that. Loved It!!(less)

His life is even more dull because he is magic less in a world filled with magic. He is doted on by his parents, and protected like a newborn because he has no way to protect himself. So Llyskel spends his time painting, and watching his brothers and soldiers train. There is that odd time when he gets to spend a little time by himself but it takes a bit of scheming and hoping he isn’t caught by his brothers or guards. In that solitude, Llyskel can think about Ariv, the man who turns him on like no other.
Ariv is a Captain of his father’s army, and he alone knows the desire that lies with Llyskel's heart. Together the men discover an explosive passion, and it sets the course for life changing events for Llyskel. There is more that meets the eye when it comes to the fifth son, and he will discover his confidence and uniqueness in the arms of the man he so longed desired.
What a surprising short this one turned out to be. It brought the sexy, a little action, and romance. That one hell of a combination and with the magic it was just down right entertaining. I really enjoyed Llyskel, he embodied youth with the right amount naiveté and maturity. Love him and Ariv together they were so hot and did some surprising things in the bedroom 'you naughty boys'. There is a bit of drama and enough characterization to keep the reader engaged and helps with keeping the story from falling flat. Taking Llyskel out of his comfort, and offers him the chance to blossom on his own.
Overall, I really liked it and I am surprised. Blaine is really good at creating a fantasy world and interesting unforgettable characters. I am peeved it wasn’t longer, but that seems to happen to all the good books. They are never enough, but I believe my pants are quite thankful.

I was so sad it was a short because it had such a great plot to be a great book. So when I heard there was a novel in the works, my heart felt super happy. Jason and Ferran had in me few short pages, just imagine the impact they would have with their own book.
Changing Worlds does include the short where Jason and Ferran meet for the first time, so interested readers can just run out and get the book with no worries. Here’s a quick recap for new readers. Jason Kim is Captain of a merchant ship and he isn’t happy learning that he will be taking on Perels as passengers on his ships. He’s not a big fan of Perels because one was a reason his relationship of a year ended suddenly. Their sexual energy envelops all around them and Jason wants no part in it. He’s an all work and a no play kind of guy, but is surprised when he finds himself drawn to Ferran and wants a relationship with him. Their happy ending doesn’t seem meant to be because Ferran will have to return home, and he will just become a thing of the past for him.
That changes when Jason is invited on Perelan, and is to be husband to Ferran. He accepts without doubt because Ferran makes him feel, and though life will forever be, different Jason isn’t willing to give up the Perel he loves. Jason and Ferran have a year to prove that their marriage is strong, and Jason has to prove to the Perels that he’s more than just an alien on their planet.
I loved reading about Perelan, and their matriarchs. These big beautiful females ruling so many around them and have their word striving ‘female power’. It’s really hard to impress mothers so Jason has his work cut out for him, when not everyone accepts his place on Perelan. So not only does he have to come to terms with his new life, but suddenly he’s fearing for his life and those he holds dear.
There is enough action to keep the reader interested, the politics and daily life of living on Perelan will keep you glued to the pages. Jason and Ferran together are lava hot, and set the pages on fire. Their road is not an easy one, but you will love the ride their journey takes you on.
Overall, I loved this book! This story is more than a human falling in love with an alien. It’s a human story, one that says love has no bounds and person is willing to do everything to protect the ones he loves. If you’re fan of science fiction, and love a little human/alien relations then do pick a copy of this book up. Cari Z is super cool and I look forward to reading more.(less)

This was my first time experiencing Anne Tenino’s writing, and believe me folks it will not be my last. I loved this story, and it was free O_O who said the best things in life aren’t free? Clearly, they had no idea what they were talking about.
Nik ‘Nikhil’ has a chip on his shoulder, and that chip is his hometown. Being adopted from India and living in a predominant white town hasn’t always been easy for Nik, and to make him even more of an oddity he’s gay. So he’s now the gay dark skin Indian guy, and the attention he got wasn’t always good. Now he’s home from college on a school break, and the only reason he comes back is because of his parents. Otherwise, he would stay clear of the place he grew up in.
Then he meets Jurgen Dammerung (sex on legs with a licence to carry) and Nik is instantly attracted, but he doesn’t want to end up the dark notch on another white guy’s belt. He’s feeling Jurgen though and Nik’s inner slut is saying go for it (his inner slut is fierce). He can’t deny the attraction he feels for Jurgen, and when the fires burn and a bike beckons, Nik just has to hold on for the hot ride.
I freaking loved this story! I laughed, lost my pants, and had heart failure all while reading the same freaking page. Jurgen… is like some kind of sexy and Nik I just love that snaky bastard. I can’t believe this story is FREE; I would seriously pay 4.99 for this (seriously).
The story moves with Nik not being confident that the relationship will last, which adds the right amount of angst and provide some conflict. It’s a hellaciously hot story, and I love the contrast of Nik’s darker skin and Jurgen’s lighter tone. The hand job scene is what dreams are made of. I love it!
Did I mention it was Free O_O, its mind blasting. This is the first story I have read by the author, and folks it won’t be my last. I am going at Anne Tenino hard (that sounds dirty), because I like what I read. Grab this one folks. A guaranteed pants losing!

Mark has just been dumped by his boyfriend to be expected when he was caught cheating. Mark is broken and sad because he loves his boyfriend Craig, and he’s hoping that they can just move on from it. He’s been having the best of both worlds, the love and security of Craig and the hot carnal lust of Richard the man he’s been having an affair with. When both his worlds collide, he’s left in shock but he can’t deny that he wants both.
With Richard, the sex is hot and nobody does it better. With Craig, he has someone to do boyfriend things with, and most importantly, he can present him to the world. Richard is a man of god, and Mark will always be his piece on the side both figuratively and in actuality. When you’re caught between two men, the outcome is never positive.
It’s easy to call Mark a cheating bastard and say he got what he deserved. I honestly feel very sad for him. He’s in love with the idea of loving Craig, because its safe and he’s dependable. Though it’s Richard, I feel he really wants, but he’s grown accustomed to the situation. He’s his dirty little secret, his quick f*ck outside when the weathers nice. When it all ends, he puts on his collar and goes back to what he loves the most, being a priest. I feel that Mark both accepts it and loathes it and so he found someone who created a balance for him. It’s a sad situation for all three men, but I feel it's sadder for Mark. Richard will ask for forgiveness from his god and move on, and Craig might find solace and love from his family and friends. Mr Mark though is left with nothing.
My first time reading anything by Anne Brooke and folks it won't be my last. I always talk about short stories being worthy of novel praises and this story is one of them. Anne Brooke is an excellent writer with a gift to portray emotions on pages. Sometimes we don’t always get what we want, and we leave behind the things that we need. That being ruled by lust and desires can be nice but when the desire is sated, all that is left is emptiness. This story with a just a few pages was able to share that with me the reader, and if that isn't excellent writing? I don't what is!
I hope to read about Mark again because I feel that he deserves his happy ending, finding that one person whom he both wants and needs.

Where has Josephine Myles been all my life? It’s been such a joy to read a Myles book; I am in deep obsessing fan love. Her characters are always diverse; her writing filled with such beautiful description and the heat always singes a hair or two. I am all about the pants losing, but I think I might have lost my underwear with this one. Barging In is splendid and I am happy I read it.
Dan Taylor is on an assignment to write up an article on boating holidays. He has no idea how to handle a narrowboat even with the fifteen-minute tutorial he got from the boat rental place. Trying to avoid crushing other boats while steering, Dan eyes get caught on the sexy tattooed and pierced god chopping wood half naked. Dan is thinking that his work is about to become good with a little play.
Robin Hamilton life is his boat and Dan is about to f*ck that up. There is no way he will fall for the established slut, because that is exactly what Dan is. He makes no apologies about it, and Robin isn’t looking for someone like that. He has been down that road before and it only left him heartbroken. Well… Dan is hard to resist and Robin wants him in his bed, and besides the relationship wont be long-term because Dan will have to leave and head home eventually and what’s wrong with taking something/someone he wants?
Can I just say this book is a total surprise of freaking awesome! The relationship between both Dan and Robin is unexpectedly sexy and emotional filled. Both men a far from perfect but together they just fit perfectly. Dan believes he will never be a one-man type of guy, and Robin is an itch he has to scratch but slowly their days and night together become something more to him. Robin is afraid to love someone again, and so he hides behind a surly ‘I don’t give a crap attitude’ to keep potential mates at bay. Though Dan is getting under his skin and it’s hard to resist his outrageous flirt.
With a colourful back drop of boats and equally colourful supporting characters. Barging In is a wonderful book, and I am just in awe. There is always diversity offered up in a Josephine Myles book. That love is something that conquers all no matter what you look like and where you came from, what we perceive on the outside is never true once we look in. That’s one of the reasons why I love this book.
Lets get serious, Dan and Robin are to die for all that sexy had me losing my pants all over the place. I love Dan because he remained true to himself to the very end, that man is no pretender. I love Robin because he’s sex on a boat. He was surly in the beginning, but that man is an onion and Dan knows how to unravel all his layers. I love them together!
I can’t dislike any part of this book, even when they were both pulling douche moves it just went right with the story. I am sad it ended, and I would love to read about these guys again. I recommend a Josephine Myles book in a BIG WAY. (less)

I am so happy I read this book, even though anthologies are my least fave to read. Well I have no complaints, I loved this book every freaking story had me grinning, and getting feelings in my heart. A perfect Christmas read, about the joys of the holiday. It could have been all ‘happy love is all we need’ but each story had a little something more. Every story has a uniqueness that stand on its own. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one.
Lucky Dip by Clare London We find Andrew Jackson a teacher preparing for the school’s annual Christmas party. The stress is high and the kids are rowdy but he can’t disappoint them. When he is paired with his ex-boyfriend Gregg who dumped him a few weeks before. Andrew is feeling like things can’t get any worse. When both men get locked in a storage closet they both have to face the feelings they still have for each other, and Gregg has some grovelling to do.
This story was super cute. I loved the kids and Andrew is this clumsy and sweet man. Greg seems like a go-getter, all suave and charming. I really liked the theme of this one, lovers finding their way back to each other over the holidays. It’s definitely the tamest story when it comes to sex, but what it lacks in hot sure makes it up in cute.
Butterscotch Kisses by Chrissy Munder Mathew Morrison is the shy guy, not as outgoing as he wants to be. He is determined over the holidays to get over his fear of heights. He feels that he can make the climb to the top of the hill and kick fear in its butt he will finally get the confidence he lacks. A series of attempts prove unsuccessful, but the 'cute ticket guy' surely lifts his spirits. Mathew decides to try his fear conquering on one of the coldest and its cute ticket guy to the rescue.
I enjoyed Mathew. He is such an endearing character, he will so definitely capture you heart. I wanted him to have everything he wanted. His determination might even have given him a chance at love. This story was super sweet.
Wintertide by Lou Harper Two men have a meeting at a Santa Monica Pier just weeks before Christmas. Jem a young man finding his way in the world, and Oscar the older man slowly making his way from losing his partner of many years. Their meeting leads to a night of hot sex, and a little misunderstanding on Jem’s part that might keep them apart. This novella stood out to me, it has a small paranormal aspect to it but nothing that is too unbelievable. I loved that Oscar’s POV was included, it made the characters richer and in the end, you wanted them to both find happiness and love with each other. This story made me sad and happy at the same.
When In Amsterdam by Josephine Myles I am seriously jonesing for this one. I loved this sexy little Christmas kink story. Brandon is visiting Amsterdam with his new boyfriend Jos for their Sinterklass celebration. It’s a new and budding relationship but you can tell that both men feel strongly for each other. There is the shyness from Brandon who feels that he might not be able to offer what Jos needs sexually, but he blows that out the water.
It is…. I can’t even find the words, but it’s my absolute favourite in the entire anthology. I loved the diversity with which you always find in Josephine’s writing. I love the interracial love, just makes the story so much more. I am just in love with this one, an awesmazing job.
A Pint of Beer, a Bag of Chips and Thou by J.L Merrow Last but certainly not least is my second fave short in the anthology. It’s quirky and its fun and I love the witches. Liam is the only man in a house full of women, making it by playing the sax at King’s Cross-station. There is a man who always captures his interest, but can never find the opportunity to make a move. When his mom and Aunt’s give him some crazy Christmas gifts, Liam might actually land the man he has had his eye on.
This was super cute and funny, with a mix of sexy. I loved all the quirky characters and the playful dialogue, definitely a winner by J.L Merrow. It was a joy to read.
Overall, this anthology was super awesome. There is a story in here for every reader. Each one offers its own unique writing style and though the theme here is all about Christmas, none of the stories can be compared to each other. It’s the erotic, meets the sweet and in comes the sexy. This one caused a whole lot of pants losing, and I am still at this moment searching for them. It will warm your heart and have you burning in other places. Fantastic! (less)

I am at a serious loss on how to write a review for this book. I wanna say some profound stuff and be articulate about it (doubt it). Heads up, you wont find all that here (told you). Catalyst is dirty, sexy, and crazy goodness. I had no expectations when I started this book. My eyes were all over the beautiful cover, and I knew I was going to be reading a BDSM novel. I got so much more than anticipated; Catalyst is all you will love in bdsm novel. Its dark with the right amount of kink, offers a soft side, but not too soft and the plot is insane with its content. I never saw so much darkness coming, and it was from the least expected character.
We meet Logan, who is meeting with his Psychologist for the first time. Logan has a blood fetish, and he’s feeling that it’s become unsafe for him to have a partner since he put his last submissive in the hospital. He is afraid that the hunger he has for tasting his partner’s blood during intimacy will lead to lack of control causing him to harm yet another person. Therefore, he seeks help from Dr Kasper Bromley, in hopes he will be able to control and then stop his urge for blood.
The sessions between Logan and Kasper are dark, and could be somewhat disturbing to most readers. Logan talks about his fixation on blood, the taste of it the smell of it, and it how it brings fulfillment during sex. His doctor is not unaffected by these sessions, the chemistry between the two is strong, and the Dom in Logan calls out to Kasper. However, a patient/doctor relationship is strictly forbidden and both men will risk it all for the heat flaring between them.
I thought to myself ‘there is no way this book could get any more intense’; man was I in for a surprise. The relationship between Kasper and Logan is hellaciously hot but equally unhealthy. Kasper, as Logan’s doctor before knows him in a way others don’t. His uses the information to be manipulative, knowing that it will cause Logan harm or possibly himself. You see, Kasper has gotten a taste of the BDSM lifestyle and he is finding it perfect for him. Suddenly it becomes all about Kasper, without a care for Logan, because Kas will strive to be the best ‘pain slut’ the bdsm scene has ever seen. It all spirals out of order, because the once Dr Control, has lost control.
I absolutely enjoyed this book talk about new and exciting. I loved the blood (yep). There is something very sexy about the forbidden and living on the edge. Nothing more deliciously forbidden like wanting to drink or taste someone’s blood (I.E obsessions with PNR and vampires), and the spanking and being tied up just adds a heightened sexiness. This book is more than sex; it delves into ‘how far are you willing to go satisfy your needs’. Kasper and Logan portray every element beautifully. I loved these characters, and the world created by the authors, this alternative lifestyle is kicking ass.
It is very clear that a lot of research and thought went into writing this book. Though I am fairly new to the BDSM reading scene, I have total respect for this book, because it offers great respect to an alternative sexual lifestyle. It’s more than just kink, it’s more than just what others may view as a weird way of getting off. Catalyst is the book that proves this; the characters prove this. Pain and humiliation is not what it’s all about, the control and creating a safe environment and knowing your limits is the true way of BDSM
(All though the pain/humiliation can hurt soooo good).
Overall, a truly pants losing read. A nice balance of romantic and intense mixed with the darkly forbidden. I recommend this if you are looking for a different type of read, because sometimes ‘normal’ sucks.(less)

This book played on every emotion, every single one of them. The strongest emotion I felt was anger; because there are so many young people going through these same issues that Jeff expresses so wonderfully in this book of short stories. He manages to capture everything in these stories, with an underlying of hope and most of all love. I cried through out reading the entire book, and I commend Jeff in sharing issues facing LGBT youth.
Jeff possesses a gift. A gift of connecting to the reader and making you feel for all his characters. I never cry for any other books as much as I do for a Jeff Erno book. In Bullied all seven of these wickedly emotional stories had me in tears, whether from sadness or from pure joy.
The Stories: Blending In, Chuckie, Saved, Different, Invisible, Shame, Kirby. All these stories could have been a repetitive mess, but instead each story offers up a variety of content. Though the victims all seem familiar, in the end it’s a realistic view on what some people might think “a male should not be”. Because males are supposed to be tough, grow 6ft tall, and play extreme sports (gimme a break).
What makes this book truly special is the talent the author has to make each character believable. From the bully, to the victim, or the mom trying to wrap her mind around her son being gay. It was like reading a story about real people, and their struggles. Though you might think. Man, this book sounds depressing. This book mostly is about friendship, love and the power to overcome all.
I have to say Kirby is my favourite story in the bunch. The fat kid who was bullied, by none other than someone who claims to be his best-friend. After being humiliated and made to feel horrible about himself. Kirby still came out on top. Loved it so much. My least favourite (not because it sucked) and the saddest (the reason) of them all is Different. Different manages to touch on gay hierarchy, where another gay person feels that they are better than the other is. I guess if we are going to stop discrimination, we need to start on the inside. Different was very hard for me read, and though the ending is optimistic, still left an ache in my heart.
Overall, I recommend this read. One of these stories is guaranteed to resonate with its reader. You might really love one or you might love them all. I can honestly say this is one powerful book.(less)
Hot Head is critically acclaimed (by me), this book was the Kool-Aid, and by Kool-Aid, I mean the shit. I loved every fecking minute of it. It’s rough, raw and ready (wait a sec is that, not some other book). Well those words describe this book perfectly; stuffs on fire, feelings are blazing hot. The men like it rough, and they are always ready. Forget it; this is starting to sound extremely cheesy.
So the setting is New York, years after the September 11th attacks on the Trade Centres. It’s a big celebration within the city. Honouring, the firefighters, and cops who died and worked hard to rescue people. Therefore, they had overcome, and tragedy led to unity. Fun side! It’s a big dick and pussy fest, horny for firemen, women come out to play and firefighters and other city workers know they be getting their dicks wet (man this book makes me wanna type all dirty).
So Griff the firefighter is having strong feelings for his best friend where that sounds totally cliché, this cliché works. This is no sappy I have feelings for you, and as I confess my undying love we have the most amazing sex. Griff emotions are realistic, his love stems from a long friendship. Not just a close friendship, but it borderlines brotherhood, Griff, the adopted member of Dante’s family. They know him, they love him and he’s dying to fuck (there I go again) their son, their brother, their uncle and his best friend.
Dante is having some money troubles, so he hits up making a little porn. What’s wrong with a little whack fest to make some quick money? Not a damn thing Dante, not a darn thing. Well Griff has a problem with it, but that won’t stop him from a little whack fest of his own. When push comes to shove though Griff has Dante’s back, in more ways than one. A little porn experiment might lead to some big things, some *real big* things.
Alright lets get serious. I love this book, the characters are strong and the story though not romantic is captivating. This is a man struggling with his feelings for another man, in a profession and life where being gay is a death sentence. Because nothing makes you less of a man, like loving another man (or so those bigoted bitches say). For a long time Griff has struggled with his feelings, and what you realize is the heart wants what the heart wants. Though the outside world might hate them when their together, first they must figure out the whole ‘I am in love with best friend’ before they can worry about anyone else.
However, some readers might find the whole porn thing questionable. Who hasn’t risked their job for a little porn? I risk my job as a perfect parent with the amount of man love I watch, read, and think about. I think if anything it made the book stronger, because what we know is that nothing brings two people closer than making porn.
Loved Dante, he was my sexy Italian hottie I wanted to eat him up. Griff was adorable and sweet and you just want him to get his HEA. How can you not fall in love with someone who is willing to do anything for the person he loves. It’s a great GFY (gay for you), and I hope I get more from my HotHead boys. So many wonderful things in this book *HOT MAN SEX*, and that other stuff about feelings ‘winks’.
My checklist of why this book was awesome. 1. Japan 2. Japanese Men 3. Yakuza 4. Interracial Love 5. Hot Man Love
I was somewhat iffy about this book in the beginning; it was a bit stereotypical of Japanese culture. With the cell phone, and the cos play and all that. Then internally I mulled it over and realized that almost everything in this book has some actual truth. This culture is all about family and honour, though conservative they are just rich in history and culture.
This book had me at Shigure Matsunaga. Shigure is a Yakuza, the English equivalent being a Japanese mob boss. He is from the lowest of the lowest when it comes to his family background, but he worked his way to the top of the food chain. Now he is a respected Yakuza, at a big fancy party mixing with the richest in bloodlines. His appearance tells you what he is, and though the upper class Japanese people hate to rub elbows with him, they need him and his men. At this party is where Shigure meets his Gaijin (non- Japanese).
Kenneth Harris is a gaijin in Japan, even though he speaks fluent Japanese and knows the customs. He still is treated like an outsider. To add more fire to the flame he has two different coloured eyes. Not only an outsider but also a freak. He feels very much the alien at a ritzy party of the Japanese upper crust, so he gets lost in his own world. Until the man with the dangerous aura captures his attention. All his instincts are saying Shigure will be bad for him, but… his cock and his heart are really into Shigure.
The attraction is instantaneous, and the bathroom stall knows it (hot getting off scene). The men begin a tentative fire cracking relationship. Though Ken is willing to give Shigure everything, Shigure is reluctant to move forward cus he is hooking up with an outsider. It becomes a battle of the feelings, and some serious rough housing between Ken and his Yakuza. All that rough housing led to some seriously Hawt scenes. Ask the back of a car and the people on the sidewalks, cus they got a show.
The plot thickens when Ken is kidnapped and tortured, which leads to some serious bro-mance between him and someone who once hated him. I really liked Ken, he is far from a normal uke (bottom), he is one feisty little ass kicking thing. Shigure had me at “Moshi moshi”. Together they are dynamite, sexy, and crazy. Just had one hell of a time reading it.
SideNote- Interracial love is the shit. I am all for it, and I think everyone should do it (lol). The world is filled with so many different races and cultures, so why not dabble. Its a sad shame that being of different races keep people apart. Think of how less ignorant we would be, if we took the time to learn more about another culture/race/person. Thats just my two sense.
My checklist continued… 6. Hot men in a bathhouse 7. The hottest description of some serious ink 8. Bro-mance 9. Japanese Men (think I wrote that already, but it’s very important) 10. Criminal/Upstanding Citizen

For all that is sweet and holy, I freaking loved Conquest. Consider me one of the groupies’ cus Jesse and Evan has me as a notch on their belt. Let’s leave out the fact about female parts; I have a mouth and all that. Ooops did I just write that? You damn right I did.
I definitely consider this book an insta love, but in the sense of finding your soul mate and really connecting with another person. Jesse is an up and coming music star, all he needs is his big break. It’s looking gloomy though, cus his band keeps getting the boot when they send their demos out. He has hope though, but he is wondering how long he can keep the dream alive. He is gorgeous, has the voice that would make your mouth hit the floor in awe and he’s gay. His dream is to be making music like his idol Evan Arden. Well Jesse is about to get his wish with a whole lot of Evan on the side, but the journey in making his music won’t be easy.
Evan Arden is back after a long hiatus, with no idea why he’s back to the life he wanted to escape but he knew he just had to be back. Looking for a really good music scene, he gets the recommendation to check out a band called Conquest in a not so excellent looking bar. Well Evan is not disappointed when lead singer Jesse steps onto the stage. The young man has presence and is musically gifted, and the world should hear him sing. Evan does what he can, brings in his old contacts from his record company, and leaves the rest up to them.
Jesse and Evan’s first meeting and sparks are flying. Evan is hellaciously hot and Jaime is fire breathing sexy. A night of hot love and deep connection lead to both men finding something, but will the world of fame and fans pull them apart? Read and find out.
I loved Jesse and Evan, LOVE THEM. They have serious attitude with its own pair of gloves that will slap you in the face. Jesse is just super awesome and sexy and is playful dialogue just makes the book all the more better. Evan sounds like a dream wrapped in whipped cream. I love Evan’s possessiveness over Jesse, just so freaking hot. If they would invite me, I would be down for a “ménage et trois” or I could just watch them.
Love these guys, love the story and can’t wait to get some more of Evan and Jesse.
SideNote- Tim was a douche bag, that girl drummer in the group needs to get the hell out. She really pisses me off. Greg needs to shut the feck up and back up. Brandon needs a hot man. (less)
