When I was reading the last couple of chapters my mind was going crazy. I felt like our world was nothing compared the world of zamonia. There is something new and crazy about every chapter that keeps your brain stuck to this book. Optimus Yarnspinner's travels through bookholm made me feel emotions of every kind. At times, the misfortune of this character made me feel like crying!
Part one is so interesting. All through part 1, I had a grin on my face. I kept thinking "if only I lived in bookholm, my life might not so dull". Or at least it's sounds dull in comparison to the life of Otimus Yarnspinner and his amazing adventure in bookholm. So much cool stuff happens in "The City of Dreaming Books", bookhunters crawl from the sewers, streets are lined bookshops of every type, and reading a book just might kill you. If I lived in a city like that, I don't think the term "spare time" would ever be necessary, for I might always have an interesting book in my hands, or an amazing manuscript streaming through my mind.
When I read this book, I was thinking about how much you always have to learn about yourself. Like before Optimus's trek through the catacombs, I bet he would have completely doubted the fact that he could make his way past life the threatening dangers of Bookholm. I remember when he laughed or cryed out loud for resons he thought he wouldn't have. Like when he was crying with the incredibly fearsome booklings, never before did he think something like that might happen.
This book will definitely stay with me for a very long time to if not to the death bed! I had so much fun reading this amazing book, and I advise any who takes even the slightest intrest in good fantasy, to read Walter Moers books immediately!...more
