I laughed out loud a few times, but the book on the whole was a hyperbolic display of ADHD. Ellen is awesome...and she should stick to television.(less)

I am one of the three women on earth who did not read Eat, Pray, Love, so I entered this book without bias. Chapter Three is a veritable goldmine when it comes to arguing for marriage equality. I will return to that chapter more than once, I'm sure. The sections on other cultures were interesting, too. But the rest read like a long journal entry and I kept wondering why I should care to continue reading. Check out Chapter Three...skim the rest.(less)

Seriously valuable information about how nutrients and irritants relate to ear infections, anxiety, stomachaches, picky eating, rashes, attention/hyperactivity, meltdowns, sleep irregularity, delayed growth, autism and more. In my opinion, this should be read by every parent, every pediatrician, and their moms. I never underlined so much in my life.(less)

This book takes you through it with the benefit of time and reflection. His feelings are raw and he spares none of them. Best is the hopeful ending with regard to a dad and his daughter and the good they're doing for others, turning their pain and loss into compassion and assistance.(less)

No textbook or manual comes close to helping the reader understand what it's really like to be ruled by the "drill sergeant" Portia describes in her memoir. Anyone working in mental health needs to read this book. Anyone who has battled with food, body image, or feelings of self-worth needs to read this book. Anyone who has daughters needs to read this book. In a word -- incredible. What an incredible, courageous survivor lives in these pages. Thank you, Portia.(less)

Thoroughly researched and grounded. Cullen writes in a way that makes you want to intervene to prevent the massacre -- and then you remember that it already happened and you're rife with despair and helplessness. This is the truest account of everything Columbine -- basically, everything you know about Columbine is wrong.(less)
