However, honestly it usually the cover that makes you pick up the book to start with. If the cover catches your eye you will pick up the book. Most people deny that they judge a book by its cover but we are all guilty of it at some. And this cover is one that would catch your eyes in book store. Its looks really pretty in the picture. However it is simply WOW in person. It just gorgeous. A beautiful design that is enchanting. The design is all embosed and just perfect. And as a bonus it has black edged paper. As I said its just WOW
Now. The Taker is one of those story that grips you from the first chapter. Alma has created a wonder dark and enchanted tale of love and obsession and mixed it with a memorizing story that it very brutal at times.
The story line is just wonderful. The story follows Lanny, a woman who has had a hard life and when she appears into Dr. Luke's life everything changes for him, as this beautiful woman tells him her story of her life. As we read about Lanny's past we are introduced to so many colourful characters. Lanny herself is actually rather easy for me to connect with it. She is selfish at times and her love for Jonathan (the man she loved in her past) is a borderline dangerous obsession for her. However, she is tough and wise and survives through all her tough times. We don't really here alot of Luke as this is mainly a story of Lanny's past. He was likeable although I sometimes didn't want to come back from the past as it was just so mesmerizing.
The Taker had me shocked at times and smiling at times. And the twist in the plot was a real shock to me. Usually I can figure out a plot really quick. However, I never knew what was coming next for Lanny and the biggest twist had me gasping with shock. I mean proper mouth opened just staring like OMG.
What I truely loved about this was that in most books its all happily ever afters. However, this is a more realistic ending to the story and I loved it. It truely was the most perfect ending.
If you are looking for a fantastic story that will have you hooked straight away and that it bound to be a bestseller then please as soon as this book is out buy you will not be disappointment.
Finally just a quick thank you to the publisher for giving me a copy for review. I have never been more grateful for a book as now this is one of my favourite reads and looking forward to more of Alma Katsu's novels.
Review I am not really sure where to start with this review. I have so much in my head that I want to say but nothing comes out. The Pleasures of Winter is one of those rare books that has stolen my heart, my mind and my soul. Yip I loved it that much. I was hooked from page one right up until the last page. I got so caught up within the story that I was actually heartbroken when the book finished because I didn't want it to end.
The Pleasures of Winter isn't like most erotica fiction I have read. Usually with this genre you get full on sex from the first chapter but this isn't like that. We actually get an amazing story before all that happens. A story that is thrilling and exciting. Our two main characters Abbie and Jack, the chemistry between them is electrifying. Abbie is drawn to Jack and visa versa even though they are polar opposites to each other. Abbie is a strong, independent journalist with a jobthat is dangerous. She is smart and funny but flawed like any human being. Jack, oh sweet lord. Jack Jack Jack I think I loved him before I even started the book. Why? He is Irish! I can't help myself it's that accent. Mother May I! With his sexy looks and charms that no woman can resist. He is a hollywood bad (Colin Farrell anyone ?? lol) He is obsessed with Abbie and he is falling hard. You can't help but root for them.
The plot is quite simply perfect. It has the right mix of adventure, excitement and steamy sex that just blends in perfectly. The opening of the story is fast paced and exciting, with Abbie trying to escape bad guys who are after her. She finds herself on a plane with Jack and them crashing into a rainforest. At first I was like is this really a naughty read? I wasn't used to having a proper non erotic plot line. But there are hints throughout the beginning that is just the right amount of teasing to get the reader excited for find out more.
I am trying to do this book justice and it just won't happen. It blew my mind, so much so I am actually struggling to convey just how much I loved it. One of the big things I loved about this is that fact it is told from both Abbie's and Jack's POV. Now usually I am not the biggest fan of POV changes but for this is works. You get inside both the characters heads and that is very important for me. I like to be able to feel a connection to a character to really appreciate the story and I sure did here.
Evie Hunter is actually two authors and what a wonderful team! The two authors have created a flawless, exciting and down right steamy read that will stay with you long after your finish. And that is a sign of perfect book to me. I highly recommend. If you like your naughty read, then The Pleasures of Winter is one NOT to be missed.
Cover Talk: I only really add this cover talk into a review if I really really need to talk about the cover and yes i do here Why? Because that is a beautiful, simple cover that actually fits the book. That feather represents a certain scene (no spoilers) and if you have read the book you know what scene I am refering to. Rarely book covers match the story, they usually have nothing to do with the words inside the book and are only there to look pretty. Thankfully this is not the case here.(less)

It's aim at young girls between 9-12 but I have to say I really did enjoy it and looking forward to reading more of the Creepover books.
Truth or Dare is about Abby, a young girl who at a sleepover plays truth or dare with friends and she picks truth and ends up revealing to her friends who she has a crush on. However, in the middle of the night she receives a creepy text message telling her to stay away from her crush, Jake. Soon Abby feels like lots of creepy stuff is happening around her. Is Abby being tormented with someone playing a prank? or is she being haunted by a ghost?
I decided to pick this up to read last night because I have been feeling weird not reading, but I just haven't been well enough to read a big book. So Truth or Dare was calling to me. I curled up in bed in the dark, reading with a torch just to set the mood. And it worked. It was the perfect choice. I devoured this story within an hour. It really keeps you interested all the way through and keeps you guessing. My only negative is that I had no idea what age the characters were. I am guessing at between 12-14 but I am not really sure. And the setting is never clear. I wasn't sure where the book is set but guessing by some of the words, somewhere in the UK.
As I said I am not the target audience for these books. But I enjoyed it alot. For young girls (preteen) I think will adore this series. It's fun, quick and has just the right amount of creepiness to give you chills. I can see this being a book read at sleepovers to try and scare each other. (less)
My Review: I was asked to review this book by an author friend and I am always extra nervous about reading the books of my friends because there is always that chance that I am not going like it and then having to tell them that. HOWEVER, thankfully this was NOT one of those times. Little Red was a fast paced, action packed sexy read that had me hooked from start to finish.
Little Red follows Sam, who on the run and trying to hide from her boyfriend. While trying to find a place to sleep she runs into Ethan Parker. And pretty soon, life as she knew it was torn apart. Sam or Red as Ethan calls her because of her red jacket, is pretty kick ass! Even though at times I wanted to slap her, overall she is a really strong main character. Ethan, oh deary, he is yummy. He cares for Sam and would do anything for her. At times he is pretty self centered but he always comes through to protect Sam. With the addiction of Ethan's 6 older brothers you get a very well rounded bunch of characters. There is someone for everyone to like and relate to.
Little Red is such a fast paced story that you are instantly pulled in. It grips completely and doesn't let you go until end. And I do love a good fast read. However, at times I did feel like sometimes it was going way to fast with certain parts of the plot. A lot happens in a short space of time, it just didn't feel realistic sometimes. That is my only negative. I adored the plot, it was different and exciting and sexy. But the sexy times fit in the story. I hate sometimes when authors put in sexy times just to fill pages but Trista has managed to create these scenes that they just flow beautifully.
As you as tell this a "Little Red Riding Hood" retelling. And lately, thanks for ABC's Once Upon a Time I am addicted to retellings and Red in that show is favourite character, so this just makes this book extra special. It is the only retelling of "Little Red Riding Hood" I have read and it has really set the bar on future reads. Trista knows how to tell a story and she really has put her own stamp on the popular fairytale and brings it right up to date. I am really excited to see what else is in store for her new series "The Believe Series".
I highly recommend "Little Red" If you are looking for a fairytale retelling that is unique, exciting, gripping and just fantastic!! With a addictive story and lovable characters that is sure to be a bit hit among fans of retelling and those who just love a good paranormal romance read.(less)

I haven't read anything that involved Goblins so I decided to finally give this ago. And overall it was enjoyable.
It is set nine year before book 1, which I think I should have read first. It follows Eliza who at a party summons the goblin king to help her get away. When the Goblin King arrives he helps her but doesn't fully grant her wish. He instead start to fell human again and Eliza starts to find herself being attracted to him.
Now, this is a just a quick read with only around 20 or so pages. The author has managed to create a good taster to the story. However, I was left a little confused and not really knowing what was going on. There isn't much of a backstory to the Goblin King but I hope we see that develop in book 1.
On a side note. Now if you are anything like me and see/hear "The Goblin King" you automatically think David Bowie! I did I couldn't help it. Even though the author describes her character with dreadlocks and in goblin form a monster. I still kept seeing Jareth from The Labyrinth because for me there is and alway will be only one Goblin King. Lol.
Go grab yourself a copy of The Summons. It's free on kindle.(less)

Oh My Giddy Aunt!!!!! Evie Hunter has managed to do it again!!! I adore this series (as most of you will know) I devoured the previous books and was so consumed by them that I felt like I was actually a part of that world. And with The Pleasures of Autumn is was no different. I was completely captivated by this wonderful, sexy and exciting story that I forgot all about time and devoured every page, word for word!!(less)

Beautifully written with love able characters that made me devour the book in one day.
Lucy Aimes moves to New Orleans with her family. She suffers from dark and disturbing dreams that only get more intense the longer she is in new home. But she just thinks they are strange dreams. Little does she know that she is about to stumble upon a century old vendetta that threatens to hurt the ones she loves and only she can stop it with the help of a mysterious and handsome young man, Alex who is hiding a dark secret that is intertwined with Lucy and her dreams.
I was first drawn to this simply because of the amazing cover. With the wonderful Gothic looking fence I was a goner straight away. I am a sucker for anything that looks Gothic and then once I read the blurb I just knew I needed it. I am been obsessed with anything New Orleans even since a certain author's vampire books ;) I am drawn to the setting and instantly fall in love. Even though I have never actually been there. So you can imagine that my expectations were very high for this book. And boy, it did not disappoint. I found myself completely enthralled by the mystery of this tale. And being fascinated by the added mix of Voodoo and Lucy's dreams that are set around the time of the Civil War.
Lucy is a very believable teenager. She is not perfect. But when push comes to shove she will stop at nothing to protect those she cares for even if it means breaking her own heart. Alex, was a mystery and unravelling his secret was what kept me reading. It was thrilling as we delved deeper into the past to see how it connects in the presents and my god most of it I did not see coming!! My only issue was that I personally thought it felt just a little rushed. It seems like everything happened over the course of a week or so.
Sweet Unrest is sure to be hit! I hope people read it and love as much as I did. With mystery, voodoo and a thrilling story line that sends shivers down your spine. I highly recommend it. Just don't read in public because if you are like me and cry easily you will end up n tears!! (less)

However, I picked it up in an offer and I am so glad I did. First time I read it a was drawn in from that first page and couldnt put it down. I stay up all night to finish it. I have now re-read it so many times my poor copy is falling apart. Its a story I just love returning to and I always find something new that I have missed on previous reads.
The characters in the story is probably what really drew me in. There are so many different characters and they all bring something different and unique to the story. There is a few that really stand out for me. Rose is my favourite character. Rose is a dhampire (half-vampire, half-human) she is strong, very fiesty and isn't afraid to fly off the handle from time to time. She isn't like most girl that are in book I have read recently. I really like a strong lead role in books and Rose does the job. Her best friend, Lissa, is the total opposite from Rose and that why the friendship between them work so well. Lissa is the ractional one out the two, always thinking things through, whereas Rose is often reckless. At times, I didn't like Lissa just because sometimes I felt like she just so helpless and hopeless in herself I just wanted to jump in book and shake her.
Aswell, as great female characters we get some candy. In the form of Dhampir Guardian Dimitri. He is the strong silent type that I know for fact makes girls and women week at knees. I liked the relationship that developed between him and Rose and how its just screamed sexual tension.
Vampire Academy is the first book of the Vampire Academy Series. It's an excellent start to the series with a fresh and orginal take on the vampire. With its fast paced storyline and intriguing bunch of characters Richelle has created a story that really sucks you in from the very first page.
However, it loses half a star just because of one thing and its a silly thing really but I didn't like it. In the story near the begining Rose is talking about her mum and says she has a ridiculous accent. That really annoyed me because Rose's mum is Scottish, I'm Scottish and I love my accent. As I said its a silly thing but still really annoyed me.
Not Suitable for Younger Readers due to some bad language and moderate sexual content.(less)

I knew there was a film but I wasnt interested in sparkly Vampires. However, one day I gave in to it and bought all four and I read all four in about 5 days. I feel in love. I was never a reader before I got these books and I havent stopped reading since. So having read them all I will do my best to do the review from the first time I read Twilight.
Twilight was like nothing I had read ever before. I had read a few vampire books growing up mainly the Amazing Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Its very unique and at the time of publishing would have been a very unique take on vampires from anything I had read before.
The story its told from Bella's point of view and thats a big plus for me. I love books that are wrote in first person. I get sucked in quicker. Bella's is just the average 17 year old girl who moves to Forks. Her life is turned upside down when she meets the alluring Edward and the story really takes off. Their relationship borders on obession and that what Twilight has turned into for me an obession. There is an eclectic bunch of characters, some we love, some we hate and some we just love to hate. The characters I really like in this book were the Cullans. We learn a small part of there back story that leaves you begging to find out more.
People who know me will tell you I am a Twilight nut. I really am obessed with. However, I will be the first to admit that Twilight is no way a mind blowing piece of literature and most people who have read this know this. It's a quick, dazzling tale of girl meets boy and fall in love and thats the essential story of it.
Overall, Twilight is a extraordinary love story that that captures the imagination of the young and old. And leaves you thirsty for more. It dark, compelling and very seductive a must read to any vampire fan.(less)

Become entangled and entranced in Ruby's latest adventure and relive the magic in "Deja Blue," the second installment of the Ruby Blue Series
Review: Deja Blue is the second book in the Ruby Blue Series. And if you have read my review for Ruby Blue you will know that I 100% adored that book. So I have been waiting in anticipation for the sequel. I was excited so see what other adventures Ruby and the gang would embark on. However, I was really anxious incase it didn't live up to my expectations. Fortunately Julie Cassar has hit a home run! Not one part of this book was a disappointment.
I won't go into details about what the book is about as the description above basically sums up everything you need to know. Deja Blue like Ruby Blue is a fun and exciting its packed with adventure and a bit of romance built. Ruby is one of my favourite characters of all time. She is so funny. Her voice is so unique compared to the current YA protagonists. She is head strong, independent, quirky and overall just a really nice person.
Ruby has three best friends. Jeremy, who gets the best one liners! He is so funny. Anya and Brennan who are fairy royalty. Together they make such a fantastic team. And I predict a love triangle in book 3 between Ruby, Brennan and her current boyfriend Nick. Because it is so obvious Ruby and Brennan have that love/hate attraction. And Nick well he nice enough but he Is no Brennan ;)
As I said this series is just amazing. Book1 we had dragons on the loss. Book 2 we have mermaids fairies and trolls. I highly recommend these books if you are looking for something fun and quick. They are perfect books to help you escape. And if you are like me you will be captivated by the world and characters that Julie has created.
Julie is now without a doubt one of my favourite authors and I hope more people pick up her books. So go get reading!!! (less)
I received this months ago for review and I am kicking myself for not starting it sooner. A Job from Hell is a really refreshing read. It unique, dark but also quite funny. And it's set in Scotland, so YEAH!! Extra goodie points.
A Job from Hell tells the story of Amber a young english girl from London who moves to Scotland to take a job as a housekeeper in the MacAlistar household. One night her brother Dallas comes to visit and they both go on a walk in the wood to find a old shed. However, this night changes Ambers life forever as she is plunged into a dark world of vampires, shadows and other creatures that stalk the night. All the while trying not to fall for sexy Aidan, her boss.
I really really liked Amber as a character. She kinda reminds me of myself. She isn't the tidiest person the world and she uses sarcasm alot. Just like me lol. She is really likable. Even when she is face with stuff of nightmares she takes it all in her stride and just deals with it because she knows she has to. I really love the relationship and chemistry she has with Aidan and Kieran. It's really funny. Aidan and Kieran are brothers and are complete opposites of one another. Aidan come across as a very serious person where as Kieran is more easy going.
A Job from Hell really is one of those story that will keep you guessing as you never know what going jumped out at you. There is so many twists and turns that makes you become totally entraced by the story. I only have a few things that annoyed me a little. The words Mate and Dude are used WAY to much throughout the story. And even though I knew it was set in Scotland I would have like that to play a bigger part in the story.
However, apart from that A Job from Hell is a fantastic story. It fast paced, dark and original with an amazing cast of characters that will leave you begging for the next book. Which I am going to buy as soon as my buying ban is over!!!
Thank you Jayde for letting me review this wonderful novel and I am looking forward to more of your work. :)(less)

I couldn't wait to get started on the finished copy and it did not disappoint me at all. Forever Kansas is a companion novel to the Ruby Series and ideally to be read after Forever Blue. It's is told from Brennan POV and I think is quite possibly my favourite title in the Ruby Blue World.
Forever Kansas is told from Brennan's Pov instead of Ruby's. I loved Brennan in the original books but I fell completely head over heals for him in this one. It was genuinely refreshing to get inside his head and read from a guys voice. (I haven't read many books that the POV is male) And to view the other characters through his eyes was fascinating. Especially Ruby. Ruby is kick ass and awesome but in this installment we see her how Brennan see's her and it's simply magical watching these two characters feelings develop for one another.
The story is fan-freaking-tastic! I was hooked from the first line. It's thrilling, exciting and god damn hilarious! Rarely a book will have my physically laughing out loud. Yes, there are books that will give me a wee chuckle to myself but Forever Kansas and all the books in the Ruby Blue series always have my stitches! Mainly due to the awesomeness of Jeremy! He is just so bloody comical!!
If you have been following me you all should know I loved these books! Julie Cassar is my favourite indie author and her books always seem to get better and better. She is so god damn talented and I hope more people will pick up her books!!
I highly recommend everyone to get started on the author's Ruby Blue series. They are super fun, smart and kickass. With amazing plot twists and lovable characters you will not be disappointed. (less)

Vampires are my first love and always will be. So I jumped at the chance to review it because there isn't many new vampire series. And I was completely blown away by it.................
It took me a few days to get past the first 25 pages of this book. However, that was all me because I am in a weird slump but once I had time to sat down and read with no distractions, I didn't stop until I was finished. It was 100% Fangtastic (haha). I adored everything and I mean everything. Usually for me no book is perfect but Dinner with a Vampire is perfect to me. The characters, the setting, the exciting plot, It all made for a truely outstanding debut novel.

Julie Cassar has done it yet again. I swear this woman can do no wrong!!! She has created yet another awesome story in the Ruby Blue series. And an explosive conclusion to Ruby’s story!!! I have been a weird reading slump (as most of you will know if you follow me on twitter or facebook lol) so I read this quite slowly so I could enjoy and savor the story because this is the last book in one of my favourite series and I wanted it to last as long as I could.

When I was laid up on the couch with a broken ankle and I got book 1 and 2 to take on holiday but ending up reading them before. The Hunger Games truely sucked me into the story from page 1 and kept me gripped right up until the last page. I adore the book. And having just reread it I think I loved it even more this time!

When she asked to review her book I was of course excited and nervous. Excited because I was getting to read it and nervous because I had to review it. lol. However, I had a nothing to be nervous about because Ninfa is an amazing and talent upcoming author who completely seduced me with this wonderful and dark book.
Bites has two short stories. LAST OF THE BLOOD and DEMONICA. Last of the Blood follow Damon, a vampire who over the years develops an inner struggle with his vampire nature. Demonica follows Irina, a young girl who has the mark of Lylith. And is on her way to become the Queen of the Daemonic Court.
I'm not going to go into much details on either of these stories because I feel if I started to review each stories indivually I would give away major spoilers.
Last of the Blood was a very interesting read. I wasn't 100% grip to the story but I did really enjoy it. Damon was a young man when he was turned into vampire and his story takes place over nearly 100 years. Damon was a character that I did like, I didn't love him but I was drawn to his struggle and found that the ending of his story was perfect and sad, it made me cry.
Demonica, now OMG, I loved loved loved this. I devoured this short story. The mythology if the story is what I loved. Irina is such a strong character that it would be hard not to enjoy her story. She doesn't like her boring life with her mother so when she is offered a new life she embraces it. And of course Ninfa has put a certain angel into this story that I have alway been fascinated by, so that gets extra thumbs up from me.
Overall, Bites is a fantastic, well writen book that is dark, sexy and if you are anything like me it will seduce you completely and leave you begging for more!!

His first series , The Sunset Vampires is amazing so I knew that his first step in YA would be nothing short of outstanding. And like his previous books, it didn't disappoint at all! It was 100% amazing.
New England Rocks is the first in the new YA trilogy. It follows Rain after she is expelled from her boarding school and is sent to New England USA as punishment. She doesn't plan on being there long so she doesn't plan on making friends or fitting in. But on her first day at her new school she runs into Jesse. The hottest guy at school. As the two grow closer Rain starts to wonder if maybe New England isn't so bad but Jesse has a girlfriend so things don't go smoothly for Rain.
New England was such a quick fun read. I devoured it in about 3 hours. I was in a weird reading mood and needed something light and this was perfect. Rain I instantly liked! She is far from perfect and trouble seems to just follow her around but she is smart and one of those girls who doesn't really care about her appearance. Even though she is pretty she doesn't know that she is. Jesse he is hot and Funny. Oh and he is in a rock band!!! It is torn when it comes to his feelings for Rain because he has a girlfriend but he can't help fall for Rain. Now I did like the two main characters but I found them rather predictable. And with Jesse I would have liked his story to be a bit more in depth just to get inside his head a bit more.
As I said I read this within about 3 hours. It was a really quick and exciting story. From time to time we all need a light read and this fits the bill. I found the plot very fun and cute but very predictable. I knew how it was going play out but that didn't mean the story wasn't enjoyable. It was really good and there is one small twist that I will admit that I didn't really see coming.
I highly recommend New England Rocks for anyone who likes a quick YA read that has romance and drama but is also very cute and fun but with some serious issues thrown into the mixed! I am really looking forward to the next book with is about Rain's little sister. (less)
Everyone and their grans have been so excited for this book. It has been the buzz of the book world for what seems like forever. So when I got a chance to actually review the UK arc OMG you should have seen me the day it came through. I was so tempted to read it weeks ago but I stayed strong and waiting to closer to the release date. I finally started it last week. And in total honesty, the book was was good but I was slightly disappointed.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone tells the story of Karou a young girl who is brought up in two world. The regular world and a world that is filled with magic, mystery and inhuman creatures. Karou is trying to balance her two lives. However, when she meets Akiva her world and everything she thought she knew about herself is blown apart and who is she is revealed.
Karou is a really interesting character. I am actually on the fence on whether I liked her or not. She is a strong character and is very unique but sometimes she comes across quite immature. But there is no denying the fact that she is never boring. She is also quite funny. I really like that about her. I guess I did warm up to her more when she gets to Akiva, the chemistry behind them is wonderful and draws you into the story.
I really did struggle alot of with this book. It took me about a week to read it. And it kinda annoyed me because it was slow then picked up then when slow again then picked up again. The start of this book for me was pretty dull and didn't really get interesting until we are introduced to Akiva. However, it does drag on for a good bite with alot of world building. Now I like world building in books I do. But there is ALOT in this that it kinda put be off. And it could go pages without any of the characters actually having a conversation. I am one of those people who like alot of conversations between the characters in a book.
HOWEVER, and this is a big however. The last 100 or so pages were OMG, explosive, exciting, freaking amazing! It totally made up for the rest of the book. When I was reading it I set myself a reading goal before bed to only read a little bit but I was completing drawn in to the book and the characters stories that I ended up sitting finishing the book and was left breathless with how the ending turn out.
So overall, I was slightly disappointed in the book but the ending was awesome enough that I can't wait for book two and see how this series develops and what's in store for Karou.(less)

However you NEED to read Deity before you read this one!! Because It will spoiler Deity for you if you read this first.
Set between Deity (book 3) and Apollyon (book 4) this little story is told from Aiden's Pov. It is a really good short story and I think it's essential that you read it. You get to see inside Aiden's mind and experience things from him prospective and of course if you are Team Aiden you are going to LOVE IT! Personally I am Team Seth, always have been but it was a refreshing change from Alex's Pov.
Usually with short stories you don't get a lot but Jennifer has managed to really make the most of it. The readers feel like they are actually reading a proper story. It doesn't feel rushed or forced like some short stories. For me when I read short stories I rarely gave them over 3 stars. They usually aren't my thing even though I can enjoy them so a massive thank you Jennifer for writing one that I actually really enjoyed.
Freak of Nature is my first book by Julia Crane that I have read and it certainly won't be my last. Freak of Nature is unique and exciting. At first it took me a few chapters to get into it but once I did I couldn't put it down.
Kaitlyn is a cyborg. After a horrid accident that leaves Kaitlyn for dead, scientists use her body for an experiment. To turn her into a cyborg. She isn't meant to have any of her own thoughts or emotions after being remade but she does. However, she doesn't let on to those who experiment on her in case they get rid of her. However, while she is trying to keep her emotions in check she is falling in love with Lucas, a young scientists.
Now I can't even begin to go into this without giving away spoilers. It's just one if those books that you need to read. Julia is an excellent story teller and really knows how to grip the reader attentions. After the initial start which I found a bit slow and boring, I was completely blown away. Freak of Nature is so unique and the love story is so romantic and has a Starscrossed-lovers feel to it. And come on who doesn't love those kind of reads.
Kaitlyn and Lucus are two very intriguing characters. And I feel like the readers are going to fall in love them. They both are struggling with their feelings and it is causing them to have inner battles with themselves but together they have this attraction that just defies reason.
If you are looking for something completely different and exciting them get your hands on Freak of Nature. I can't recommend it enough. Apart from the fact it took me a few chapters to get into the story and inside the characters heads it's nearly perfect.
I can't wait for the next instalment and finding out what happens next. I also look forward to discovering more of the authors work and seeing if they are as good as Freak of Nature. (less)
Fever is book 2 in The Chemical Garden Trilogy and after reading Wither I was super excited to get my hands on Fever. However, even though overall I did enjoy the book it just wasn't up to the same standards as Wither.
Rhine and Gabriel have escaped! They are on the run trying to reach Manhatten where Rhine hopes her brother Rowen. However, it's not all smooth sailing. They end up being trapped in a carnival where girls are forced into prosititution. Trying to find a way to escape proves to be very difficult especially with Vaughn on their tale who is hell bent on getting Rhine back to mansion.
Now, I did enjoy this book for the most part. The beginning was very exciting and thrilling but it seems to slow down alot in the middle and doesn't pick up again until the last 60 or so pages. I didn't really like Rhine in this one. In Wither I was unsure about her but this one I just didn't like her. At times she comes across really selfish and her relationship with Gabriel just isn't believable to me.
Fever really feels like a filler book. Wither was amazing and this just felt like a set up book for the final book which I honestly think will be better because the ending to Fever was OMG, Epic! I did not see that coming. The last 60 odd pages where so good but the slow and at times very boring middle let the book down for me. I am really excited for the final book because I hope Linden will have a bigger role in it. As we don't really see much of him in this one. And I do like him. I know alot of people don't but there is just something about him that draws me to him.
Lauren DeStefano has created a very unique and thrilling story that is dark and at times very depressing but it works for this. I hope book 3 renews my faith in this trilogy. And I do recommend reading Fever if you have read Wither. And if you haven't read Wither then go now!!(less)

Immortal Obsession is a fast paced book that centres around the life of a french vampire Christian as he trys to protect Amanda, a woman who he believes at first that she is his descendant. However, as the story continue we learn that not all is as it seems.
There are two main vampire characters Christian and Michel. Both French (swoon), both incredibly sexy and has the females throwing themself at them, especially Michel. Christian is very easy to connect to, for a vampire he is still in touch with his humanity and through Denise's wonderful writing we really get inside his head and can feel everything he is going through. Michel is the ladys favourite in the story they are all falling over themselves to get him. Even though is does come off very selfish and arogant. That didn't stop me liking him though. The friendship between the two is still as strong as it has been when they were human and after centures they still have a very strong bond to each other.
The main human character is a woman called Amanda. She is brave, strong and when introduced to the world of vampires she isn't afraid. She feels a connection to Christian and we get to read the ups and downs of their lifes with some amazing twists you do not see comin.
The thing that I truely loved about this is that even though there is a romance at the centre of the story its not that lovely dovey make you sick romance. Its doesn't get in the way of the plot which I find not alot of authors can do.
So if you want a a truely amazing and unique read then pick this up. It will not disappoint with its fast paced story and wonderful characters that will take you into their lifes in the past and the present. And whats not to love about French Vampires? (less)
Cinder is retelling of Cinderella but with a fresh and funky twist. Set in the future in New Beijing, this Cinder is a mechanic, slaving away to support her wicked Stepmother. However, Cinder is your ordinary home girl, she is a Cyborg! And when her stepsister Peony catched the plague, Cinder lifes is turn upside down and secrets from Cinder past are revealed!
Honestly when I first heard about this I was sooooo excited. I had heard nothing but good things about it and when I got a chance to review it I am over the moon. However, I personally found the beginning to be very slow and it didn't grip my imagination straight away but my gut told me to keep reading and when that happens I do it. And boy I am so glad I did. Cinder is like nothing I have ever read before. After the first 100 pages I was completely engrossed in the storyline that I simply couldn't put the book down.
Cinder is such a strong heroine. She is smart, strong, witty and really stands out against some of the YA Protagonist's that are in books just now. I really enjoyed the relationship she had with Iko the family android. It was a really fun and caring relationship and Iko is adorable! lol. When Cinder stepsister, Poeny gets sick she is devastated because Peony is the only one in her family that cares about her and Cinder truely loves Peony. It was heartbreaking reading the aftermath of it. However, being a such a strong character Cinder deals with everything even though she is scared. (So trying not to spoil anything LOL)
Of course being a YA it wouldn't be complete without a romance right? Well there is one kind of with Prince Kai. Now I personally didn't think this was a great part to the story.I get that its Cinderella you need a Prince Charming but Prince Kai just doesn't come across as a "Prince Charming" he lacks personality. But in a way that's good because the romance doesn't take you away from the actual story.
As I said, it was a slow start for me but once I got into it, it was unbelievable. It was truely different to anything that is out there at moment. The storyline was a bit predictable and I knew exactly where it was going but there was no denying that the ride along the way to there was freaking magical, exciting and full of drama that keeped me from the book down.
Marissa Meyer has delivered a fantastic debut novel. If this is how her debut is I am really excited about reading the next book. But I don't think I can wait until 2013 for it. So if you like your fairy tale retelling with a twist I urge you to give this ago!! (less)
Let me just start with thanking the wonderful Patricia Williams for asking me to review this ebook. I had never heard of it before so when I read the description I knew I was going to at least like it. I didn't think I would fall head over heals in love with this superb Young Adult Sci-FI.
Wasteland follows Becca as she is trying to recover from a car accident that she caused a few month ago. She tries to stay invisible and just get through school. However, when the handsome and mysterious Luke starts at her school, her world will never be the same again.
Becca is one of those rare characters that you can like from start to finish. Some characters in books you can go off them throughout the story. However, with Becca she is just so likeable it hard not to like her. At the start of the story she is very shy and just wants to stay invisible but when she meets Luke she starts to come out of her shell and we see that she is a very strong teen who doesn't shy away from really hard and important tasks. Luke is introduced a little into the story (usually the Luke interest is there from the very start) Luke is very sweet, funny and quite complex. I really like the relationship that developed between Becca and Luke. Becca didn't like Luke at first and it not until about half way through that she realises she might. I thought it was clear that Luke liked Becca very early on.
The story is flows just perfectly. Its very quick read that will captivate you and leave you needing the next installement like yesterday. I read it over two nights. I would have finished in the first night. However, I kinda needed to sleep. lol.
So do I recommend that book? HELL YEAH! If you like Young Adult books that has an intense story and likeable characters then this is the book for you. (less)
Unleashed was my first book by Nancy and Debbie. I have heard of their books before but never got around to reading them. So when I got a chance to read this book early I jumped at the chance. I have been eying it up since I first heard about her and I am so so so happy I read it.
Katelyn McBride's has her entire life turned upside down when her mother dies. She has to go live with her grandfather in the middle of nowhere. However, Wolf Springs isn't what it seems and soon hidden secrets are revealed. And Katelyn is faced with a frightening situation that will change her life forever.
I admit I wasn't hooked on this book straight away. I found it a tab slow and familiar. Yes, it reminded me a little of twilight at the start. But only near the start. Katelyn or Kat I didn't love. I just couldn't connect to her. I still really enjoyed reading about her I just couldn't get the connection I usually get with main characters. She is well balanced, good at school but likes to have fun. But sometimes she comes across very whiny. Now I know she is trying to get over her mum's death and that would be hard for anyone and I felt for her I really did. But I just couldn't connect. She did grow on me. Especially when she was around Trick. They just fit together perfectly. He is adorable and is there to protected Kat when ever she needs him. However, Kat befriends Cordelia who seems nice but is clearly hidding something. Cordelia and Trick don't like each other and I don't think if it was even explained why? (If it was let me know via email I may have simmed over it lol)
There are quite a few characters in the novel and apart from the three I mention there is another one who really stands out. Justin. He is Cordelia's cousin and him and Kat have this connection. They are drawn to each. He can't resist her and I am really excited to see how that plays out.
Even though I wasn't that impressed with the Kat as a main character the storyline sure makes up for. WoW, it fantastic! I loved how it just gradually unravels and secrets are revealed along the way. It's fast paced and different. I loved the mythology behind the wolves and how the packs work. However, the start reminded me of Twilight. Not in a bad way I love me some Twilight. And it was only at the start. The rest of the book is nothing like it and what an ending! Seriously can't wait for book 2!
Unleashed is full of suspence, family drama, myths and of course romance! And what YA paranormal isn't complete with a love triangle? Yes, I think we are going to see a very interesting love triangle develop as the serious continues. All I am going to leave you with is a question:
Review All I have to say is WOW! That is it! I honestly I have no words that can describe just how much I adored this book. I will try but be warned I may ramble and not make sense. So here goes..............
Usually when there is a lot hype around a book it rarely lives up my expectation. However, Beautiful Disaster is without a doubt one the best I have ever read. I was completely blown away by this. I had been told on many ocassions to read this book. And I have no idea why it took me to so long. I was hooked from page one.
Beautiful Disaster is one of those books that get right under your skin. The Characters are unforgetable. The chemistry between Abby and Travis is what makes this story so awesome. It's so intense and at times dark that just makes it so refreshing compared to a lot of relationships in book these days. And on a personal level I could really connect with these characters because at times during this book I felt like I was reliving a past relationship that was also very intense like Abby and Travis's relationship.
Now I have read a few reviews that talk about the "abuse" in this book. I want to know what book these people were reading?? Seriously? Travis is an intense person and has a lot of issue yes but abusive? God no! To me Travis comes across as this tough guy to everyone but with Abby there is a really soft and sweet side to him that makes me melt. Abby I adore. She is a strong character and isn't afraid to put Travis in his place. The two of them together is explosive and thrilling. They are a "Beautiful Disaster"
I am not going to get into the plot because there is no way I can do that without spoilers. All I will say is that the story is exciting and crazy. Takes you on so many emotional rollcoaster's it makes your head spin.
Jamie McGuire I want to marry your mind!! Her writing is completely flawless. She keeps you guessing as to what will happen next and how the story will end. Which was pretty awesome.
If you are looking for something that will keep you up until the wee hours of the morning then please give this ago. You will not be disappointed!! Beautiful Disaster is also a perfect example on what a crossover novel from YA to Adult should be like.(less)

The st...more I had real high hopes for Clockwork Angel, having read and loved Cassandra's Mortal Instruments Series, I was left feeling very disappointment. The story was very, very slow and didn't really pick up until half way through the book. The characters aren't up to much either. I found then rather annoying and just wanted to slap them. I only really liked one character and that was Will. However, I think that was just because he reminds me of Jace from MI Series. One of the big disappointments of the book was Magnus. I was so excited when his name was first mentioned, then was left feeling totally let down because he only appears twice in the book. One a plus it is suggested that he will have a bigger roll in the follow up book.
Its not all bad, Cassandra has really did her research for this novel and you really do feel like you are back in Victorian time while reading it. And the ending does leave you wanting to know what happens next. I will pick up the next book when it is released and fingers crossed it will be better. (less)
