I had never heard of this book at all. I seen it on netgalley and it was the cover the caught my attentions. Its very striking with the black background and the image of the girl and the exploding lamp. I am so happy that my request to review was accepted as I devoured this book with just a few days (would have been sooner if life hadn't gotten in the way lol)
Spellbound follows the life of Emma, who has suffered a horrible life in the past few years. Her twin Ethan dies and a year later a mother dies. Leaving Emma in the care of her stepfather. Who is a drunk and ends up nearly killing Emma in a car accident. This leads to Emma moving in with her Aunt Christine and enrolling is Vincent Academy in New York. Soon Emma discovered the mystery behind her necklace and faces a hard choice that could prove deadly.
WOW!! yes just WOW. Review finished. Lol.
I honestly wasn't expecting much from this novel. I thought it sounded good and it was so much more. Emma is one of those characters who you just love. She is been through so much in her live and it only seems to make her stronger. She starts a fresh at her new school where she decides not to tell people about her past. I totally understand why she would do this. I think I would do the same. As soon as she starts school she ends up on Kristins hate but she stands her ground and just an overall strong willed main character. She is also very sweet and funny at times. I adored that relationship she had with Brendan. Brendan was sometimes really annoying but most of the time he was too cute for words. The secondary cast of characters in this are also wonderful . Some I loved and of course some I hated. You need a character to hate in books. Well I actually had two in this. Anthony and Kristin. Seriously those two go right on my nerves from there first appearance. Yet they were great to read. :)
Spellbound is the type of story with just draws you from the start and you will not put the book down until you are finished. Cara has manage to spin a wonderful and fascinating story that will be enjoyed by young and old. She also creates a intriguing back story to the necklace that is truely enchanting that will leave you wanting to know about the story.
As far as I know this is a stand alone novel. However, the ending is done in such a way that there could be another story maybe from another characters point of view. I really hope so as I just loved this story and really want to read more about the characters....more

I am usually not one for short stories because they are usually a hit or miss. However, Miracle was one of the first that really made me love a short story. I love the characters, the simple plot and setting. The Idea of a Museum of Broken Hearts is well... its fantastic! I would so go to something like that. And our main character Rose, she is so wonderful. A romantic to the core and you can't help but want her to find her Mr Right.
Having already read one of Talli's previous books, I knew I that would at least enjoy this. I went into it think it would just a fun light read and yes it is that but its so much more. Talli has managed to make this a little gem. Full of hope, romance and coming to terms with family problems.
If you haven't tried any of Talli's book I suggest start with this! It's light and quick and gives you taster of the talent that Talli Roland!!!...more

I feel in love from the first few pages and this now has a special place within my heart.
Firebrand is the first in a new fantasy series by Gillian Philip. It is set in the 16th Century Scotland at the times of religious wars and witchs hunts. The book tells the story of a young Sithe (Faery) Warrior called Seth and follows him from being a young boy being sent to life with his father who doesnt want him right up until he is a man who is in love. Seth is the type of character that is it easy to bound with. He is arrogant, selfish and complete brat. Yet, he is vulnerable, loyal and a joy to read. One of the things that I really liked about him was his love for his brother Conal. He is devoted to him, even when he disagrees with him. He loves his brother so much that when Conal is exiled by Kate to the "Otherworld" - the Full-Mortal world. Seth without a doubt goes with him. And this is where is story really get going.
Gillian really has a way with her word. With the story being set in 16th Century I really thought I was there along side Seth on his journey through life. I could see everything he saw, I went through the motions along with him. I could even smell what he could smell, just though Gillian powerful and beautiful writing.
Firebrand is a novel that if you are 13+ you have to read it. Young or Old. It has something for everyone. However, there are some swear words throughout and sexual contain so I would suggest if you are a parent read it before you let your kids read and its up to you whether you think they should read. I personally think this should be a book that is taught in school and would enrich all the youngsters with a love for reading.
So if you want a novel that is packed with action, adventure, superstition that will take on a whirlwind rollcoaster of emotions then please get out there and read this novel. It will truely amaze you. And captive your very being as it has did with me
My only negative is that I now have to wait for the next one. LOL
Claudia is trying to get life back back on track and trying to lead a normal life. However, being a very special soul things don't go to plan. She soon finds herself in danger and is "kidnapped" by the Earth Angels to keep her safe from Aliah who wants her soul! But only Claudia can defeat the evil Aliah. Will she be strong enough to defeat Aliah?
After reading Crossroads and being so excited for the next book. When I got a chance to review it early I was like HELL YEAH!! and it doesn't disappoint.
Between is one of those books that sucks you in. It truely captures your imagination from start to finish. And its the chemistry between all the characters that I feel does this. Claudia, I love. I am mean seriously she is adorable. When faced with dangers she is like "bring it on" even though she is terrified! Her relationship with Michael will make you melt. Michael, oh dear, Michael. It's forbidden for them to be together but he would do just about anything for Claudia. Their romance is quite lovey dovey but not in a omg this is too much kinda way. It's perfect! And then Mary throws another guy into the mix to spice things up and Yeah, I feel, big. Austin. He is smitten with Claudia and they share this weird connection. They care for each other but they annoy each other as well. It's so cute! And of course my fave Davin is back!! And he is better than ever! He is so funny and sweet and I want a Davin.
With Crossroads I found it a little slow to start but Between is fast paced from the start. Introducing you to new characters and dangers start away it get your attention completely. There is never dull moment for the gang. Whether it's spending time in cosy situations or being put in danger and fighting for their lifes. It's nothing sort of amazing!
So overall, did I like it?OMG, Yes, What a ride!!! I adored Crossroads but Between oh lord! It blew it right out the park!! It's bigger and better. Full of danger, excitment, passion, betrayal and above all love! If you haven't started on this series yet, please, I beg you go now because Mary Ting is such a wonderful author who leaves you breathless with each book and begging for more!...more
Putting Alice Back Together is just one of those heartbreaking story of a woman who has some series issues going on in her life, past and present. Told between present day Alice at age 27, struggling to deal with her debt and past Alice, a normal seventeen year old teenage from England who loves piano but we slowly discover a dark secret that is tormenting Alice in the present day,
I haven't read much Women's Fiction but from what I have read I do enjoy it and this one of my favourites. Alice is one of those characters that even though she is seriously flawed I found it really hard not to love her. She is a very vulnerable, even though on the outside she comes across as very strong and out going. For ten years she has been living with a tragic secret that is eating away at her. When we read about seventeen year old Alice, she is a shy girl who falls in love with the piano. I felt like I was teleported in to those pages through the highs and lows for young Alice. I think that young Alice people are either going to love or hate her because of how the story is but I loved her and just wanted to hug it through everything,
Carol has created such a fantastic story that isn't short on drama. Usually jumping from present to past in book doesn't work for me. However, with Putting Alice Back Together it works perfectly. Carol has managed to divide the time just right that gives the reader a real and raw insight into Alice's head and what she is going through. .
Aside from the emotional storyline, Putting Alice Back Together also has a bit of humour and a fantastic balance of relationships between Alice and her friends. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes women's fiction or if you are just looking for a really quick and real read that will stay with you long after you finish it. Can't wait to read more of Carol's work....more

Now, I won't do my own description like I usually do because the one above pretty much tackles everything without giving away much. I don't think I could do it without spoilers.
Hemlock was one of those books that I wanted because of the cover. Yes, shameful! But come on how amazing is this cover. It's perfect! So when I read the blurb I knew straight away it was one I actually needed. And let me tell you, where some books fail to live up to the cover, Hemlock isn't one of those. It exceded my expections and had me to gripped all the way through.
Hemlock (as far as I know) is a fictional town in USA. It's set in a our world but werewolves are real and everyone knows it. After Mac's best friend Amy is murdered by a werewolves her whole town in up in arms and call in a group of Trackers who are there to find and capture the werewolves. Mac and her friends are still trying to come to terms with the death of Amy and they slowly begin to grow apart. Mac who is being haunted by Amy in her dreams decided to go on a murder mystery hunt to find the wolf. I really liked Mac. She has had a bad childhood and lives with her cousin. When she moved to Hemlock she became friends with Amy, Kyle and Jason. Her world is completely torn apart as she uncovered the truth behind Amy's death. She is a fighter and I like that. I think a very good role model. She is strong and very independent and cares so much about everyone else. Her relationship between the two boys is tested. But she still manages to bounce back and keep going. Kyle and Jason are the total opposite from each other but they seem to bring out things in Mac and just make you love the characters.
The story itself is not what I was expecting. I knew it was a werewolf story but I didn't realise that there would be a big mystery murder hunt as well, which I loved. It was thrilling, exciting and very dangerous. However, I pretty much figured out who the wolf was about half way through the book. That being said it didn't stop me being engrossed in the story and waiting for Mac to figure it out. I keep wanting to shout at her who is was Lol. Like you do at scary movies lol.
Kathleen Peacock has delivered an outstanding YA novel that is packed with mystery and thrills that will captivated any reader. There is twists and turns with some romance thrown into the mix just to stir things up. I am really excited for book 2. I need to find out what happens next....more

A book where the tables are turned on the human girl/vampire boy. Here we are a very strong alpha female vampire, Katrina. She is a mix of both Traditional vampire (kills, drink human blood, cant go out in sunlight) and the new vampire that is books just now. Katrina is very an old vampire and in my head with Jaz's skillful writing I could hear that she was old the way she spoke. Caleb is the human, who is a real treat to read. Not often do I read a novel where the male is the human. Caleb has an innocence about that it real intriguing.
Although neither them was my favourite character. I love Paige, she is just fun to read. A perky vampire who would be a great best friend but never get on her bad side. She also had the best line in the whole book. "Friends may help move furniture. But best friends help dispose of body parts"
Sunrise at Sunset is a fantastic read that really kept me on my toes wondering what was going to happened next. There was never a dull moment while reading it.

Chain Reaction follows the stories of Luis the youngest Fuentes brother and Nikki. Luis is the brightest of all three brother. He knows what he wants for his future. But he loves taking risks in life. Nikki after going through an awful break up believes that all men are complete asses and doesnt trust anyone. When they meet its clear that their an undeniable connection between the two. Luis falls hard for Nikki but Nikki is always pushing him away. And just when Nikki starts to open up to Luis the Latino Bloods come to recruit Luis. Soon Luis is forced in to the dangerous gang world and hidden secrets are revealed.
Simone, Simone, Simone. I have said this I think on every review I have written on her books. She is a genious. What a story teller. I am sucked into this book from page one. I had been so excited for this book and my god it did not disappoint at all. I just loved loved this story.
Luis is one of those characters that is cocky, full of himself, knows he a looker but you can't help buy love him because he is a smart and knows what he wants in life and well he is just loveable! We see him going through a hardtime with the LB and with his brothers. You can't help but want to jump in the book and hug him.
Nikki OMG poor Nikki (trying not give spoilers) That poor girl has some serious issues with guys after the breakup of her boyfriend and honestly I totally get it. At the age of 15 she goes through something that is truely awful. I was in tears. Two years later and she has serious trust issues with guys and when Luis and her meet they chemistry is crazy. She tries her hardest to deny her feelings for Luis and is always pulling away from him. But when she does open up to Luis they are just so super cute!!!!
And of course with this being the final book it wouldnt have been the same if Alex and Carlos weren't in it. All three brother together oh yummy. One what make a girl swoon but all three together just sends you into overload.
The story itself like any of Simone's work is simply wonderful. We see so many issues tackled in this book e.g Gangs. I honestly know nothing about gangs the "gangs" over here are just stupid little boys who think they are thugs but with these books Simone must have did a lot of research involved gangs because I felt you get a feel insight into them and it scary. Even dealing with serious issue I love how Simone has entertwined romance in this book flawlessly. Its has a perfect balance.
There is one hell of twist in the storyline though, that I honestly did not see coming. I was sitting in total shock I couldn't believe. but it think it really adds to the story and everything does tie up perfectly
My only grip and this is nothing to do with the story itself its just me lol. I would have loved to have seen more of Kiara. I loved Carlos and Kiara I thought they were so funny and the banter between then is fantastic in Rules of attraction so would have been nice to see her more in the Chain Reaction.
Chain Reaction of course was bloody fantastic! They story is fast paced and deals with so many serious issues that keeps the readers on their toes you never know what around the corner. I am so sad to see this series end. Perfect chemistry is the book that made me fall in love with realistic/contemporary fiction and I can't believe there isn't any more book about there super yummy brothers. I will miss them so so much. If you haven't read any of these books where have you been? Go now and read them!!!!!...more

Excited becausAfter finishing Forgive My Fins and completely falling in love with it, I was both excited and anxious about starting Fins Are Forever. Excited because I was looking forward to reading more about Lily and her story but anxious because usually the sequels rarely live up to the first book. However, I had nothing to be anxious about. Fins Are Forever is every bit as fun, cute and quick as the previous book.
Fins Are Forever continues about a week (I think) after the end of book 1 when Lily realises she is in love with Quince. They are officially girlfriend and boyfriend and every is going smoothly until her cousin Dosinia shows up on her door step after being exiled for Thalassinia and its Lily's duty to set Dosinia on the right path. But of course things don't go to plan and soon Lily is finds herself being forced back to her kingdom where she meets an old friend who offer Lily a solution to giving up her royal title. Soon poor Lily is questioning herself and her choices. Will she make the right decision? Will she be true to her heart or her duty?
So yeah, once again I adored it!!! I really think this series has to be one of the cutest I've read in a good while. With a colourful cast characters, beautiful settings and a fresh and witty storyline it has it all for a fun quick read. And with this installment we have a bit more depth to the storyline.
Lily has grown a little from the previous, and that's mainly due to her relationship with Quince. They are just too cute. She is forced into making some hard decisions in regards of her future royal title. And you really feel for her at certain points because she is trying to work things out and the added pressure of Dosinia showing up doesnt help anything. Now, I have to admit I Love Dosinia. Yeah, she comes across as being selfish and has that I-don't-care-screw-the-world attitude but deep down its clear that she wants to be loved. She needs to be loved - enter Brody, Lily's ex crush. Lol. I really grew to like him. In book 1 I didn't like him. But he matures as a character in this one and I can't wait to see how the the relationships develop between all the characters especially when Tellin, (the old childhood friend) is thrown into the mix. Pretty exciting stuff.
Can't say too much incase I completely spoil the story. The storyline as I said has a bit more depth to it. But it still a very fun read. And super quick because it draws you in and takes over your imaginations making it quite impossible to stop until you get to the very end.
I'm really looking forward to the next book. I have no idea we get it in the UK but hopefully we don't have to wait too long because I have a feeling book 3 is going to be bigger and better!!!...more
Why haven't I read this before now? I have no freaking idea. I am kicking myself for not reading it. Boys Don't Cry is suchPost to Blog Coming Soon!
Why haven't I read this before now? I have no freaking idea. I am kicking myself for not reading it. Boys Don't Cry is such a fantastic read that is realistic to life in the UK for many teenagers.
Boys Don't Cry follows the story of Dante. He has his life all planned out. He plans on going to uni and becoming a journalist. However, his world is blown apart when his ex Melanie turns up on his door step with a baby. His baby. Dante agrees to look after baby Emma so Melanie pops to the shop. However, she doesn't come back. And Dante world is changed forever.
I was a teenage parent so I really could related to this story. OK I thankfully had a wonderful family and friends for support unlike Melanie who just couldnt cope. People would probably read this and hate her for leaving her baby. Honestly I just felt sorry for her. Its hard to bring up a baby even with help. I can't even imagine the struggles poor Mel had to go through that she had to abandon her baby. Now Dante who at first is rather comical when it came to dealing with Emma when Mel ask him just to her. He hold her away from him and its just funny to read. Especially when it came to the nappy. However, he is thrown into the deep end here. Poor Dante, at first he doesn't even want to change his life because he doesn't think Emma will be staying with him. As the story continues though he grows to care for her and there is one point in the story that I screamed "YES!" when he finally says she is her daughter.
As well as reading Dante's story of struggling with single father hood. We are told Adam's story along side. Adam is Dante's younger brother. He is gay and isn't afraid to show it. I really loved him. He is always a glass half full kinda of boy. However, after a horrible, horrible incident he becomes closed off from his family and friends. I was such a shame to read this. I was heartbroken for him.
Malorie has created such a realistic story about what goes on in society just now. She doesn't sugar coat anything and just tells the story like it is. This could easily have been a non fiction story. These are issues that people face everyday. Single Teen Parents. Homophobic behaviour. And yet she manages to create a story that is full of hope and love and humour that had me crying alot with happiness for the characters.
What I really loved. Was the fact that this focuses on a single teen father. In today society, all the focus is on teen mothers. And this show the point of view of the dad. There are single dads out there but they hardly ever get a mention. And I want to applaud Malorie of this.
I was 19 when I had my son and I thank god everyday that I had people around me for support. His dad even though we weren't together he has been there since day one. Always being involved in my son's life. So even though Boys Don't cry is different I can relate to it because its hard being a teen parent. You get pigeon holed and people look down their noses as you Just like they do with Dante and its not nice. This book holds a special place in my heart and even writing this review I have a lump in my throat and the tears are coming so I am going to stop writing now and just going to say one thing:
First I just want to thank Julie for sending me this fantastic book. I was in a reading funk when she kindly offered to send me her book. I decided to First I just want to thank Julie for sending me this fantastic book. I was in a reading funk when she kindly offered to send me her book. I decided to pick it up the other day and I didn't expect to read it within the matter of hours. It was a perfect read that flowed wonderfully.
Ruby Blue follows seventeen year Ruby, a normal girl who loves ice cream and oh yeah, she can see Fairies. Ruby tries to balance her normal life and this gift but having two best friends one that is a normal human and one that is a fairy is hard. Especially when a dragon from Fey enters her world and with the help of her friends she must stop the dragon before it destroys her town.
Ruby is one of those characters who you can instantly connect with. She is a normal teen girl who is smart and funny but with this extra ability to see fairies. Which us kinda cool. And she is very loyal, she knows that fairies exist yet she won't betray them, not even to tell her best friend. She is also very brave, she tackles the dragon situation head where if it was me I would be running in the opposite direction. lol.
The story itself flows perfectly. It has the right amount of magical fairy element, romance, action and humour that completely enthralled me. Usually I'm not a huge fan of fairies but Julie has such a way with her words that has me hooked. There is a perfect balance between reality and fantasy that not many authors can create.
I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a quick, wonderful and cute story filled with romance, friendships, fairies and dragons. You will not be disappointed!!!...more

This omnibus edition comes with specially designed end-papers, red paper-edging and a place ribbon.
This book is simply beauitful. The Cover its pure perfection to the storys and fits them perfectfly. I really love the blood splatter on the books and the blood at the corner of the girls mouth. Very subtle yet very effective.
The Morganville Vampires Series is one of my favourites. Rachel Caine has managed to create a very unique story with the vampires. It a refreshing read and truely mesmerizing. The story is mainly about four friends who are trying to survive in a town that is run by vampires. The characters in the books are fantastic and there is someone that everyone can related to. The four main characters in these books are Claire, Eve, Shane and Michael. Claire comes to morganville to go to college and gets sucked into the world of vampires and dangers. Eve, Shane and Michael all grew up and Morganville and know how dangerous their town can be. Each character are ver interesting and add something different to the story. They aren't the usual teenagers I have read before in YA novels. There is also many other characters that are in the books and even though there is alot of characters Rachel has managed to interwine all their storys perfectly. My favourite character off all is Crazy Vampire Myrnin. I have a real soft spot for him.
Rachel Caine has managed to deliver a fast paced, action packed, whirlwind rollcoaster of a read. The Morganville Vampires really will suck you from page one and leave you begging for more with every book. They are loved worldwide by young, old, male, female. It doesnt matter who you are. There is really something for everyone in there storys, love, action, danger, adventure. This is one of very few storys that has it all and everything its intergrated just right.
Rachel, Thank you for a fangtastic story that will always stay with me forever....more

The Virals series is about Tory, Tempe Brennons Great Niece, who after her mother was killed is sent to life with her father Charleston. In book one she befriends three teenage boys and they all just clicked. However, they contract a parvovirus that gives them new strange powers. Almost Wolf like senses and thus bonding them into a pack!
In Seizure, Tory and the boy are still trying to figure out how to work their powers and what they do with them. They are closes than ever, however, due ot college the lack funding Loggerhead Island Research Institute is being forced to close down and they are faced with the possibilities that they will all be split up. Tory comes up with a plan to to go on a crazy treasure hunt of the famous pirate Anne Bonny to try and save Loggerhead and friends from being separated. However, they soon discover that they aren't they only ones after the buried treasure. "Can the Virals survive their toughest Challenge yet?" - Cover tagline.
What an fantastic thrill ride of the book this was. OMG, Kathy Reichs had be glued from page one like I knew she would. I have missed the Virals. They are such a refreshing change of characters that are in YA just now. They are all smart kids and would stop at nothing to protect themselves and there little world, even if it means almost getting killed. Tory is only 14 year old and they is no doubt that she is the pack leader. They boys; Ben, Hi and Shelton all look up to her and she her as their Alpha. Even though at times they all think she is insane coming up with crazy ideals but they will follow her to no end. All three boys bring something different that just makes the group likable. They al stand up for each other and all love each other. Hi is probably my favourite, he gets some really good funny lines. However, Shelton got to shine in the books. And he gets the best and funniest quote in the book:
"You'll start talking, and pretty soon we'll all start nodding, and then the next thing you know, I'm hang gliding off the Eiffel Tower at night, being chased by ninja vampires"
So yeah, I adore them. They are probably becoming my favourite characters in a YA series. :)
Now they story itself? well, what can I say that can do this wonderful book any justice? Probably nothing, It was just so freaking AMAZING. Yeah, Amazing!!! Lately, it's been taking something really special for to me fall in love with book. And this has. I think it was the fresh and unique (to me ) plot. Hunting down pirates treasure in a nail biting treasure hunt. I was loving every minutes of it. There wasn't ever a dull moment. Between trying to work out the clues to running for lifes, I was gripping to the edge of my seat. The thing that I really did love was at some scenes in the book it had a Goonies feel to it and I love the goonies. It's full of twists and turns and the mystery of who the bad guys are.
Seizure feels more of a companion to Virals as they are completely different. I would recommend reading Virals first though for two reasons. One: to get to know the characters better and how they become "Virals" and Two: because its bloody amazing as well!!!
I am now really looking forward to seeing what new dangers and adventures Kathy takes are young characters on next, if it's anything like Book 1 and 2 then its going to be Epic!!!

Legacy was just amazing I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. I was lucky enough for Spencer Hill press to email me asking me review these books and even more lucky to get this ARC. I'm so glad I said yes.
Legacy continues the story of the pupils of Ganzfield just shortly after the devasting events of the Adversary. Seeing the gang of Charms, RVs, Sparks and Minders catapulted back into the quest of destroying the crazy Isaiah who is set on bring down their world and everyone in it.
I felt that in this all the old characters have mature and developed from the past two novels, as well and having some new characters such as Belinda who could Maddie sees as a threat. With Kate's incredible writing styles they characters and their world is so believeable and engaging you find yourself being drawn into the story very easily.
Legacy is in a whole other league to the first two books. There are twists and turns, as well as romance danger and adventure that the other have. If you are wanting a series that will capture you full imagination, spend hours reading without stopping and will keep to thinking even after you have finished the books, then these are the books for you.
Thank you to Kate and Spencer Hill Press for the chance to read these books. ...more

Bites has two short stories. LAST OF THE BLOOD and DEMONICA. Last of the Blood follow Damon, a vampire who over the years develops an inner struggle with his vampire nature. Demonica follows Irina, a young girl who has the mark of Lylith. And is on her way to become the Queen of the Daemonic Court.
I'm not going to go into much details on either of these stories because I feel if I started to review each stories indivually I would give away major spoilers.
Last of the Blood was a very interesting read. I wasn't 100% grip to the story but I did really enjoy it. Damon was a young man when he was turned into vampire and his story takes place over nearly 100 years. Damon was a character that I did like, I didn't love him but I was drawn to his struggle and found that the ending of his story was perfect and sad, it made me cry.
Demonica, now OMG, I loved loved loved this. I devoured this short story. The mythology if the story is what I loved. Irina is such a strong character that it would be hard not to enjoy her story. She doesn't like her boring life with her mother so when she is offered a new life she embraces it. And of course Ninfa has put a certain angel into this story that I have alway been fascinated by, so that gets extra thumbs up from me.
Overall, Bites is a fantastic, well writen book that is dark, sexy and if you are anything like me it will seduce you completely and leave you begging for more!!
