Tempted to Rebel continues with Zack and Devon taking the next step in their relationship. Although Zach tries to warn Devon about his darker tendencies when it comes to sex and that vanilla sex doesn’t satisfy his need to control it doesn’t scare her off and only peaks her interest. Very smexy times ahead.
Zach totally has Devon under his sexual spell and what a naughty boss making Devon “suffer” and leaving her on edge all day at work with his little surprise he forced on her in the previous instalment.
“Delayed gratification can bring you to heights of pleasure that you never dared imagine Miss Reid.” Mmmmm is that a promise or a threat? Either way Zach delivered in spades.
And right at the end we see a tiny, tiny glimpse that Zach has some even darker demons driving him. (less)

I'm not the only one who does that right?
Well Belle and Jared are certainly a smoking hot couple. I'm amazed they didn't spontaneously combust whenever they were within each other's space. Lots of walking erections and wet panties for sure!
I'm going to assume Belle's best friend Kate and Jared's bro Tyler may be getting their own book. (less)

The book starts off with a hot, anonymous make-out session and doesn’t let up. From the instant Jordan asks Adeline if she wants to f#ck him at a chance meeting in a bar on a Friday afternoon I knew I was in for a sexy, wild ride. Kinda like Adeline was. After all Jordan puts the c#ck in cocky...ohhhh ya.
Jordan doesn’t do “next times”...well at least he didn’t. Adeline was only supposed to be a booty call even if Jordan thought he was too old for that term. He’s 32 to her 22 not a huge age difference, but in terms of their sexual experience it may as well have been 100 years and not 10. Their casual, sexual hook-up has further consequences come Monday morning when real life returns.
Adeline is smart, focused on her finishing her degree and looking forward to her internship at Foster Architectural Designs until she’s shocked to discover who she’ll be forced to see daily and work with. And I don’t mean the witch with a “b” Vera like the designer Wang.
Ahh I love these kind of surprises. Forbidden affairs; oodles of sexual tension; the boss and the subordinate; two people who can’t keep their hands or mouths or thoughts off each other no matter that careers could be ruined and school grades compromised.
I loved Restoring Jordan. And the title of this book suits it to a tee.
I will definitely be reading more books from Elizabeth Finn.

That being said, yes I did enjoy the 1st instalment of this series and I did get sucked in and felt compelled to continue the journey of Ian and Francesca’s story.
Beth Kery is an excellent storyteller and when you’re only providing 2 chapters at a time it’s easy to leave the story at a crucial point guaranteed to tease and leave the reader wanting more. I’m also extremely glad I waited to attempt this series once all the instalments were published.
I never would have paid over $2 bucks for a book that is 2 chapters long. So for 8 serials it would have cost me close to $20 bucks. No e-book is work that much to me without making me feel like I’m being gouged...no matter how good the story. But I got all these books for 1/2 price at Books on Board and with some bonus bucks it only cost me a little over $5 bucks - that I can live with.
Price aside, overall this is a fantastic, sizzling hot, compelling series by Beth Kery and I really enjoyed it. Ian and Francesca are great together, their story complicated and I was fully invested in their HEA. This series is definitely worth reading...for me just not a $2 bucks a pop for each instalment. I am definitely confused by Matt's methods of proclaiming his love for Savannah. Seems he went way over the top and literally kept Savannah up in the air and definitely on the sexual edge. Wow what a crazy contraption they rigged up to sexually arouse and/or torment the girl not to mention all the time and effort to set the scene.
I can't deny that she was the beneficiary of a lot of male loving and attention including toys and many orgasms courtesy of multiple partners.
Seems to me Matt could of just taken her out for a nice dinner and movie if he wanted to pursue a deeper relationship with Savannah since he so obviously loved her? Seems like it would have been a lot less trouble...if not quite as fun for all involved.(less)

Why are stories about firefighters so damn hot and sexy? Ronan O’Rourke is the poster boy for hot and sexy...he knows how to start a deep burning fire, fan the flames and ignite the passion. Yesssss! Huh...I think I need to start a fire and hope my own Ronan shows up *wishful thinking*.
Thea Moretti is a bit of a damaged, emotionally closed off soul. She doesn’t want a traditional relationship with Ronan but she does enjoy their no strings attached sexy booty calls. He nicely errrrr...fills that void in her life.
Anne Calhoun certainly makes you feel for the heroine, understand her pain and grief and gives incite into why she’s so emotionally closed off preferring the music and isolation provided via her ear buds and Ipod. Then Calhoun provides a way back to the land of the living for Thea through the gorgeous Ronan. He knows Thea has deeply buried all her emotions and he's convinced that no matter the words coming out of Thea’s mouth...her body doesn’t lie.
Thea resists all attempts by Ronan to deepen their relationship. She’s quite happy with their orgasmic, mind blowing status quo. Do things like “that” really happen on the New York Subway system and in change rooms of lingerie boutiques *fans self*? So illicit and forbidden and super sexy.
There’s a lot of emotion backed into this short story and I thoroughly enjoyed Breath on Embers. (less)

There was no question I would after finishing Captive in the Dark. Although not a cliff-hanger ending there was definitely unfinished business between Livvie and Caleb.
I thought their journey would pick up and continue from where it left off. I was right...sort of, but I was also sooooo, sooooo wrong.
4 months later? WTF? OMG? HOW did we get to this point? NOOOOOOOO!!
Ms. Roberts was more than happy to fill in the gap and totally mind-f#cked me in the process. Let the games begin...or continue.
Through a series of flashbacks mixed with present day events the story continues in the heart-wrenching love story (seems weird to write that), but ultimately that is the fitting description for what Livvie and Caleb are...a love story...a triumph of good over evil against insurmountable odds.
So this was how it was to be. I knew the end. Now I was compelled to find out how we got there. It was not the ending I had envisioned. It saddened me.
Captive in the Dark was...dark. Seduced in the Dark...even darker. More graphic, more detailed, more intense and the sex scenes more varied, humiliating and cringe-worthy. But not gratuitous. They served their purposed whether to punish, train, incite fear, push someone away to show you are immune to them or in some cases to showcase exactly how evil monsters truly are.
The pain and anguish both Livvie and Caleb face from the choices they had to make was at times palpable.
Now what about the mind-f*ck the author pulled on me again with the total and unsuspecting plot-twist when she finally revealed the full and sordid details about Caleb’s past. I mean sure she fed us scraps along the way but I didn’t see it coming and couldn’t have predicted it. Totally had a WTF moment. Kudos Ms. Roberts. You got me.
I can tell you that as Captive in the Dark builds to it’s climax (HA!), even though I “knew” what was coming, the tension was nerve-racking, my palms were sweating and my heart was practically beating out of my chest...I didn’t want it to end the way I “knew” it would. I was scared to keep reading…I was scared about what was about to happen to the lives of...fictional characters.
The first time I read the words “The End” I screamed at my e-reader NOOOOOOOOOO! It can’t end like this? Well played Ms. Roberts. You got me with that one too.
This is a series I won’t soon forget. I still think about Livvie and Caleb now a week after having finished Captive in the Dark.
Why can’t all books be this good? Answer: Because then I couldn’t truly appreciate it when I do find an exceptional read. (less)

Wow! What can I say about Captive in the Dark? Mere words seem inadequate. I read this book in one sitting because once I started I was unable to stop.
The whole premise of someone being kidnapped from their daily life, trained as a sex slave and sold into the industry is a daunting, dark and definitely erotic premise. CJ Roberts tells an amazing, spell-binding story of self-preservation and survival in Captive in the Dark.
The mark of a truly great storyteller is the ability to take a seemingly evil monster, whose cold-hearted and devious plan to so affect the life of another innocent human being and make us, the reader actually feel empathy is a gift. Although at times it was hard to watch Caleb’s nefarious plans for Livvie unfold, somehow I felt sorry him (and Livvie too, but that‘s a given). Well done CJ Roberts!
The subject matter is no light fluff. There are passages that will offend delicate sensibilities. There are no staged scenes or safe words; no caring Doms providing gentle aftercare. Every action Caleb takes, every move he makes has been carefully calculated as a result of years of unspeakable acts perpetrated against his young body.
She was just a means to an ends...collateral damage.
Seek revenge. Caleb has no emotions when it comes to doing what he is driven to do. He is on a quest and will not be denied. He did not count on Livvie. He did not count on her grit, her determination or her resilience to her survive a horrendous situation. He did not count on her ability to get under his skin, lower his defences and make him question his actions.
I held my breath wondering what punishments Caleb would dish out when Livvie aka Kitten refused to be broken during her early days of captivity. She soon learned her stubborn refusal to bend would not be tolerated and she suffered for it. Kept isolated, alone, needing to rely on Caleb for her food, her comfort, her very survival...she soon learned to pick her battles.
You may as well head over to Amazon right now and one-click your way to the next book in this series Seduced in the Dark because although Captive in the Dark does not end on a cliff-hanger, the story is definitely unfinished. (less)

I like my erotica light and sexy or at least not a total degrading and humiliating experience for the heroine. There are some cringe worthy scenes that made my skin crawl and still I felt compelled to find out how many more horrors Mia would be forced to endure. I think I'll go find something light and fluffy to cleanse my reading pallet. Some imagines need to be erased.
It was a quick read but the ending felt rushed and some aspects of the storyline left unresolved.(less)
