Several emotions are touched on as Toni struggles with her feelings for her brother’s best friend and ultimately ends up in a situation with no chance of someone not getting hurt. Not a lot of back story is provided and the night in question that started the drama is only briefly touched on, but still Toni trudges forward and the reader feels her sadness and joy at impending motherhood. She just hadn’t pictured being a single mother. However, there are men in her life determined to help her and yet the one she wants has no clue and continues to break her heart in the process.
My feelings toward Simon are mixed. He is the epitome of handsome firefighter and very caring of his best friends, but completely oblivious and very insensitive to Toni during the most pivotal moments of the story. The cheating scandal he suffered effects his trust of women, but in no way did I believe that he should lump Toni in that category seeing as how he’s known her forever. I did feel it was a bit unbelievable for Simon to suddenly start taking note of Toni when she’s been there the whole time. The circumstance changed, not the girl, but perhaps that’s what gave him the perspective he needed. In my opinion, the mistakes are mostly of his own making and yet, I didn’t believe his remorse or that there was enough suffering on his part to completely redeem his character for me by the end. We experience Toni’s humiliation, embarrassment, sadness, anger, and happiness during her extreme high’s and low’s, which runs the gamut of the story, but I was disappointed that Simon wasn’t given his due in those areas. By the end, there were a couple of other guys I felt better suited for Toni.
However short the story, I give props to the author for packing in so much with enough power to make you believe this story could be real. The sex is not as plentiful as I initially thought it would be, but the story takes charge with more heart involved rather than with lust. A slightly rushed ending rounds out this story and while I had my hang-up’s where Simon is concerned, the story kept my attention from beginning to end and rooting for Toni the whole time. It would have been better had there been an epilogue with maybe even a promise of more to come on the other guys, but maybe that’s being saved for another time....more

The innocence aspect that Grey brings to the story is of a whole different level from that of just being a virgin. The story being told entirely from Grey's POV, gave me the insight to really invest in Grey's journey through several new experiences. Both the bad and good to being independent and trying to lead a good life while overcoming being very sheltered in her previous one.
As much as I a enjoyed getting into Grey's head and listening to her inner monologue, I just the same enjoyed stepping away from it as well. Sometimes the story felt a bit bogged down by it. At times Grey's random thoughts would detract from the scene rather than enhance it, but I definitely wouldn't have minded getting into Dawson's head every now and then. And one more thing... it seemed that Grey's life as a stripper was kind of washed over rather than faced head-on like I would've expected the couple would be challenged with. It just didn't present to be as much of a problem for their relationship, which if it had (IMHO) would've helped to deepen the emotional aspect of their relationship and not just the physical one. Speaking of physical, Grey and Dawson have that part down in spades and Dawson's previously unexpressed inner-Alpha comes out in full force in really brilliant ways, so have no fear because Dawson is definitely more than just a pretty face.
Just a thought... a novella to really wrap up the story and the challenges/scrutiny they face while under the spotlight would be lovely, however, as it is I will definitely be rereading this story!...more
