We all are faced with the challenges of labels and being placed into a certain group especially during high school and seventeen year old Bianca PiperWe all are faced with the challenges of labels and being placed into a certain group especially during high school and seventeen year old Bianca Piper is no exception when being labeled the Duff. Having to deal with the destruction of her family on top of school leaves Bianca to deal with some heavy issues about love, family and self worth. Dealing with all theses issues Bianca never in her wildest imaginations expected that the person who she would run to would actually listen and understand wouldn't be her best friends Casey & Jessica, but the popular, womanizer Wesley Rush the one who labeled her as the Duff in the first place. Kody Keplinger did a great job creating an entertaining story filled with well developed characters, interesting plot and a story that at the end of the day I felt had a great message. I really enjoyed Bianca and how independent and strong she was with everything falling apart around her she was still able to keep her head up and facing Wesley and his crazy tactics, she was still able to hold her own and stand up for herself. Bianca wasn't the girl to stand by and let people define her and Wesley quickly found that out much to his surprise and my entertainment. The chemistry between Bianca and Wesley was what made this story engaging and exciting for me. With both of them having such strong personalities their chemistry blazed off the page. I really enjoyed reading how their beginning hate and indifference for each other slowly turned to something more as they realized how much they had in common. Bianca was able to take a once offensive and degrading word and turning it around and making it fit her. Showing Wesley and everyone that labels shouldn't and wouldn't define her. ...more

In Murgia’s novel Angel Star we follow Teagan McNeel on her journey to find love, identity and purpose. While living her life Teagan find her self drawn to the mysterious Garreth Adams. Through these feelings she has for him, she finds that Garreth isn’t just any boy and their relationship becomes far more complicated than she ever planned. Teagan then finds herself in the middle of an epic battle of the angels between the ultimate good and the ultimate evil, with her having the power to alter the entire human race. Talk about pressure!! The plot of this story caught my attention instantly and I was anxious to see how Teagan would manage being thrown into this crazy conflict while building the courage to do what needed to be done. I could relate to Teagan’s character, though on some situations her actions had me frustrated at times. I enjoyed Garreth character as well bringing spice and mystery to the story. The relationship between Teagan and Garreth was a nice addition to the story but instead of nice and sweet I could have gone for a bit hotter and intense moments. The semi love triangle between Garreth, Teagan and their ultimate enemy Hadrian had me very interested and pleasantly confused. The feelings she starts to have for both of them was so sudden it gave me whip lash flipping through the pages! This is a good story with huge potential to turn into a great series. I feel that readers should give this book a try.
Clarity a.k.a “Clare” can see things and not your normal things. Clare has the supernatural ability to see into a person’s life by touching an objectClarity a.k.a “Clare” can see things and not your normal things. Clare has the supernatural ability to see into a person’s life by touching an object that belongs to them. The more intense reaction the person have while holding the object, the more Clare “sees”. This pulls Clare into her town’s murder investigation. Which ultimately has her fighting against time to clear her brother’s name and save the next victim. What would you do when all the signs point to your loved one being a murder? Clarity is a classic “who done it?” story with a supernatural twist and I enjoyed how it kepted me guessing. With all these interesting characters the murder suspect became interchangeable, which led to an entertaining read. Since this story is written first person through the eyes of Clare, it was important that I could connect with her and be able to understand the world through her eyes. I feel that she was a solid character with sass, independence and vulnerabilities that made me want to read more of her story. Clare had a lot of stuff going on in her life from dealing with her unpredictable power, family, the investigation and on top of all that dealing with the feelings she has for Gabe and Justin. I liked the added romance within the story. Though I would have liked for more intense moments with Justin and Gabe to crank up the intensity within the story to balance all the murder and supernatural elements. I was looking for something more unique and special between this love triangle that wasn’t fully explored yet. But there is a lot of potential there. Clarity was a great read that had me entertained while kept me in the dark with what was really going on in that Cape Cod town. Kim did a good job with the story’s pacing and description, I felt like I was really there. I really enjoyed how Clare wasn’t the only one with powers. Her whole family had special gifts and with the support of her family she wasn’t alone in her uniqueness. Clarity was an enjoying read that kept me questioning until the end. Readers who love mysteries rolled in with the supernatural will like the taste of Clarity. ...more

In Bonds of Justice the romance gets steamier and the suspense is filled with even more danger. Being a top level justice Psy, Sophia Russo has to battle the mind of a serial killer, while working on a big case for a Psy Councilor while making sure she stays alive from her very own people. Plus dealing with the instant raging feeling she has for her partner, the strong sexy cop Max Shannon, all merged together in this 46th chapter book, made for a very exciting read! Singh knows how to draw me into the lives of her amazingly interesting characters. I love how strong and independent her characters are both male and female. Sophia and Max, though strong characters also have huge vulnerabilities that humanized them, making them real and relateable. All of the drama that they have to deal with on top of their searing romance makes this story so intriguing I couldn't put it down! Singh had me questioning whether or not Max and Sophia, forcefully brought together as a team, could solve the mystery of who was after the Psy councilor while besting a killer and figuring out whether or not they would act on their feelings. I loved Max, the strong hearted cop with his determination and how he recognized his feelings for Sophia and had the strength to act on it, while recognizing and acknowledging Sophia's strength as well. What impressed me the most was how Singh was able to bring in so many different issues and make them so cohesive, forming an enjoyable imaginatively complicated world. Since this is a paranormal romance, the powers of the Psy was dangerously creative and the romance was so hot and intense it practically singed the pages. I've enjoyed Nalini's Psy-Changeling novels from the very beginning and they seem to keep getting better and better, building upon each other to form an amazing world. I would definitely recommend it to readers who love a great paranormal romance!

We meet two girls from Australia who at face value are totally different but as I read on were alike in many ways. Charlie is the shy quiet one who is invisible to those around her but has a passion for music which is were she escapes to and lets out all her built up emotions. Then we have Rose who’s loud and popular and has an in your face attitude but is secretly smart and wants to continue her education in the city. I quickly began to fall into their world by how cleverly Crowley wrote their dual points of views and I saw how both girls viewed the world and how they both had a desperate wanting to find out who they were and to begin to live their lives. The plot and characters were very engaging and had me wanting to find out if Rose was going to be able to go to the school in the city and if Charlie would finally put her self out there with her music and gain friends and the romance she’s been wanting. This story was so beautifully written, that I could picture my self there in the Australian country with the sun on my skin and the sand beneath my feet. This story holds a lot of depth and discovery that made it a real enjoyable read for me. I loved the added romance and action which was a total plus. I really love the cover and the different art for the girls points of views and the songs from Charlie within the pages as well. I would recommend this book to everyone out there. ...more

She’s placed on the adventure of her life with her father to find the secrets of her mother’s disappearance and whether she is still alive. Maggie finds way more information out in the wonders of Yellowstone like the history of her parents relationship, what was going on with her mother before she began going crazy and then disappeared and surprisingly love. The story is all about discovery and finding one true self in the face of the demands of others. When I first read the plot of the book I thought the book would be totally different than what it actually is. I didn’t realize that it was a historical book set in the nineteen hundreds and I thought the main focus would be more on the romance Maggie discovered with the handsome boy named Tom who she meets and instantly felt a connection to. As I read along I could feel some emotion between Tom and Maggie but not the burning hot passion that I crave. Like I said before the story really focuses on Maggie’s journey to find her mother and along the way she finds who she truly wants to be and who she wants to love. What I enjoyed the most about the story was Fox’s descriptions of Yellowstone. I’ve never been out west but reading Fox’s words I felt like I was out there experiencing the wildlife and wonders of Yellowstone as well. As for characterization I had a tug of war relationship with Maggie, in the beginning she really annoyed me with her views on life and her aspirations, making her seem very naive and self centered. At times I wanted her to focus more on what was going on with her family then her social life and what others thought of her. Although towards the end she redeemed herself in my eyes with seeing what was really important and standing up for herself and her dreams. I would have loved to learn more about Tom, his dreams and aspirations for his life. I felt that besides having more passion between them I would have liked to read more about their time together and their growing love. All in all I enjoyed reading the story though I couldn’t help waiting for something amazing to happen. The story did have it’s moments that had me very engaged flipping through the pages to see what Maggie would find out next about her mother and whether the feelings she had for Tom would grow to something more. I recommend this book to those who love a historical piece and a story about self discovery and mystery with a sprinkle of romance....more

In this second installment we find Bertie and her gang heading out of the theater and into the real world, broadening the landscape of the story and introducing new situations and characters into the story. We know from the ending of the first book that Bertie is on a mission to save her love the pirate Nate from the evil sea goddess from the little mermaid story. Along the way Bertie finds out more about her family, her self and her powers in discovering her father and the path that he plays on her journey. What captured my attention the most in the story was Bertie learning how to deal with her amazing powers as well as the clever way Mantchev weaved Shakespearian and fairy tale characters together and formed her own unique tale. The characters are well defined, each having their own unique quality. I really enjoyed reading the interaction with Bertie’s faery sidekicks. I’m a real sucker for a hot, intense romance and the love triangle between Nate, Bertie & Ariel made for some intense situations, though I felt that Mantchev had all the right elements between the characters she could have pushed the drama between them a bit more. Though the plot also had me turning the pages to see what would happen next. The scenes that Mantchev created were unique and different, adding to the story and giving it an added depth. From the beginning of the story I was pleasantly enchanted by this story and I am looking forward to a next installment since the end left me wanting more...more

The story had a nice flow starting soft and light in the beginning then building in suspense and surprise that had me turning pages to figure out what troubles Mia and her cousins get into in the Hampton and whether the feelings she and Simon had would grow into something more. The characters felt real and interesting. The interaction within the family setting felt real adding to the tension and suspense of the story. Mia voice felt genuine and I could relate to her and the struggles in her life. Mia's crazy cousins Corinne and Beth added the spice and intrigue to the story as well. The romance between Mia and Simon felt special and real, tugging on my heart strings every time they were together. I enjoyed their journey, learning about each other and exploring the feelings that were growing. I feel a lot of girls can relate to Mia with her dilemmas, insecurities and peer pressure that all of us have to deal with in our lives. I liked Simon and how independent he was, not caring about what people though about him. He made a great fit for Mia, helping her as well as himself. The first person narrative was great, it made me get into Mia's mind and understand what she was going through internally as well as dealing with outside influences. Howells captured the essence of a teenage girl trying to find her way and experiencing life so well. I felt that I was in Mia place dealing with all the family drama and unexpected romance. Howells really captured my interest and emotions, taking me on a wild entertaining ride. I would totally recommend this story to readers!

I really didn’t know what to expect with this story but was pleasantly wowed by Downing’s writing. I’m quickly introduced to Chastity Bryan a.k.a Chaz and instantly I know she’s a no holds bar type of girl wanting desperately to leave her home town and experience life. She says what she means and goes after what she wants. More so who she wants and it’s the new kid in town named Sebastian. I really enjoyed Chaz’s daring in your face personality. I was flipping the pages non stop to see whether or not Sebastian would succumb to Chazs play. I appreciated Downing writing such a daring story from a girl point of view who’s view of life and love differ from so many around her, making her deal with important topics for her self and her friends. The romantic chemistry between Chaz and Sebastian was very hot and mysterious and I really enjoyed the role reversal of the romantic chase. Who was pursuing who? What was great about the book besides the great characters was the journey Chaz went through and how she grew as a person. She went from having these crude dejected views of life to opening herself to love and new possibilities. This is a very daring entertaining story filled with humor, spicy romance and thought provoking situations that everyone deals with in their lives. All the characters played an important role adding depth to the story. I defiantly recommend mature readers reading this book, due to some semi graphic sexual scenes in the story. This is a great story and I will be looking forward to more of Downing’s work.

When Jessie is thrust into the position of becoming a school guide to the new guy named Pietr, she finds herself dealing with the strange feeling of being drawn to him. Even though she knows that something about Pietr isn't normal or safe. Soon she discovers the Pietr is more than your average student and the feelings she has will stir up her life more than she ever respected it to. I really enjoyed all the elements that Delany brought into the story that made it more that just a regular paranormal romance and more about self discovery with the romance an added bonus. We follow Jessie as she tries to understand what she wants to do with her future while trying to be strong for everyone around her. Through out the story Jessie tries to control everything around her, slowly sacrificing her self, little by little and I like how Pietr suddenly comes into the picture and shakes things up for her. The secondary characters really made the story more intruding and interesting to me with their back story from Pietr's family history to the back story between Jessie's friends. Delany made the story more intimate writing in first person and letting us see the world through Jessie's eyes, dealing with the events and people with her. The relationship between Pietr and Jess with their back and forth antagonizing that looks to be slowly developing into something more was great to read. As well as the growing danger that Jessie and Pietr find themselves in with not a lot of solutions. 13 to life turned out to be a great entertaining read that will become an amazing series which I can't wait to continue to read!! ...more

To be wanted by someone, knowing that somebody other then family memberLove is something that mostly everybody wants, whether they realize it or not. To be wanted by someone, knowing that somebody other then family members, cares for you and wants to be around you. In this story we meet teenagers on a search for finding love. Maddie Fisher and Rich Ross have come to a point in their young lives where they want a steady relationship, wanting the real thing but searching in the wrong places. Maddie is your average semi popular girl who is used to being looked over and tagged as the "friend", she then sets her sights on one of the poplar guys in school who she feels could be the one. While Rich is more of a loner, keeping to himself and not caring about what anyone say or thinks, finds himself liking one of Maddie's friends who is also one of the popular girls. Through their interaction with each other in their journey in finding love Rich and Maddie realize through trials and tribulations that the person they least expected, the one calledu friend, could be the persons they were meant to be with. I enjoyed reading this story, following Rich and Mad's journey to finding love. They both were easy to relate to with all of their strengths and insecurities. I liked the added depth with Maddie's strained family dynamic as well as Rich. The romance was slow to bloom bit it raised the anticipation with each encounter between Rich and Mad. Though i could understand Maddie, I felt that she was a little bit naive letting people do what they want regardless of her feelings. Though as the story progressed she became a bit more confident in herself and what she wanted to do with her life which saved the story for me. The story was well written with some plot twist to an otherwise predictable plot line. I felt sorry for Maddie's friend but at the end of the day and all the things she did karma came back to bite her, hard. But she defiantly brought the drama to the story. What I enjoyed the most was the romance between Rich and Mad and how deeply and intense their feeling were toward each other after weeding through their crazy crushes. This turned out to be a nice romantic read that had me feeling the love....more

Angelfire is such a uniquely interesting story filled with so much drama, action and romantic tension that it left me equally stuffed and wanting more. Ellie was a great down to earth character that I could easily relate to. And she was such a kick ass character as well. Speaking of which, this was such a kick ass story period. Filled with discovery, action, romance, mystery and even more action all rolled into this amazing story that had me anticipating what would happen next. Being reincarnated blows the mind. But being a century old reincarnated warrior destined to fight these huge crazed demon monsters set on destroying you, sets things to a whole new level of mind blowing. I really enjoyed how Ellie handled discovering who she really was and what she had to do to stay alive and protect the human race. Loved her guardian Will and the mystery and romance that came with him. Though he clearly had built up feelings for Ellie, he didn’t handle her with kids gloves. He treated her like the warrior she was meant to be. Aside from shying away from his feelings. From the beginning the story hit the ground running, taking me on an amazing ride. There wasn’t a long dry spell with Ellie trying to deny who she was, moments of confusion yes, but not flat out denial. How could she with crazed demons attacking her left and right. The potential romance between Will and Ellie really brought an intensity that added to the development of the story while balancing out all the intensity of fighting monsters. Ellie and Will clearly have some unfinished business and I can’t wait to read how they intend to solve it. Angelfire is an intense novel filled with a rich storyline and characters that will draw you in and won’t let you go. Courtney’s writing flowed like water and kept me entertained from beginning to end. I can’t wait to see what’s in store. ...more

Reenter Nalini Singh’s unique world filled with angels, vampires and guild hunters (vampire hunters). Elena is one of the top active guild hunters and from the beginning of her story to now, her life has taken a drastic turn that she could have never imagined. What do you expect from a woman who hunts vampires for a living, right?
Elena now finds herself in love with Raphael, the archangel of New York and a newly turned angel herself, which was impossible, up until now. Elena tries hard to get her life on track while dealing with being a newly made angel, her relationship with Raphael and the new and unknown threat to the world. She defiantly has got her hands filled. The story brings a whole new twist on the phrase “guess who’s coming to town”.
I really enjoyed Nalini’s writing an Archangel Consort is no different. With the guild hunter series Nalini breathed new life into angels and vampires that are strongly unique but actually works within the story. There’s a dark edge and power to the angels and vampires that intrigues me.
I enjoyed the journey that Elena goes through and how things didn’t come easy for her. There was a lot of blood, sweat and tears that she went through in trying to solve this case. She didn’t just wake up and was this all powerful being now. She had to learn and grow and fight for what she wanted. Including her relationship with Raphael. There was a good balance of steamy sexy scenes and scenes where Raphael and Elena got to know each other better as well as their relationship as a couple. Showing their secrets and vulnerability to each other with the situations tossed at them. No instant happily ever after here, which I really appreciated.
There are so many great characters within the book, mainly Raphael’s Seven (you’ll understand when you read it), with such interesting backgrounds themselves that I wanted to more about them. I wanted them to have more of a presence within the story then they already had which I don’t know if that is a bad or good thing? Possible branch off series?
There was a lot of mystery and intrigue with finding out who the threat was and I love the added danger. Nalini really kept me guessing all the way to the end of the story with how the story would pay out. In reconciliation or bloodshed? And I have to say that the ending left possibilities that could be further explored while leaving me satisfied. Archangel Consort really kept me entertained from the beginning of the story all the way up to the end. The world that Nalini Singh created had all the danger, intrigue, mystery and romance to keep a reader entertained. ...more
