I am very surprised by In The Company of Wolves. The blurb really caught my attention and the actual book more than delivered.
I am still reeling from this thrilling story. A not so mentally stable hero whose perception is far from trustworthy is our main guide in James Michael Larranaga’s thriller. There are different points of view in the novel, but the hero’s one is definitely the most important.
Quin is our hero or should I say Anti-hero? I really don’t want to spoil any twists and turns, so let’s just say that Quin is a hero of many surprises and not all of them are pleasant. However, throughout In The Company of Wolves I couldn’t help but root for him, especially over the awful pack of wolves he gets involved in.
Quin is a bounty hunter hired to infiltrate a company of “Death Brokers”. They buy out life insurance policies of terminally ill patients for less than they are worth and make a profit when they die. When I read about it in the novel I went straight to Google and found out that this is an actual thing! How creepy!
While on assignment Quin realises that this company is actually expediting their clients’ death so they can have their paycheck and he decides to put a stop to it. In The Company of Wolves is Quin’s ups and downs dealing with this extremely hungry pack of wolves while overcoming his own shortcomings.
In The Company of Wolves is a thrill ride from start to finish and I for one cannot wait for more! I read in a lot of reviews on goodreads people complaining about the cliffhanger, but it’s not so bad and it definitely made me want to read much more.
One more thing I want to mention and that I really enjoyed was the whole parallel with wolves’ nature and the little facts about them before each section. I loved that they connected with what was to come and gave us a great insight into the characters behavior.
I really enjoyed In The Company of Wolves and thoroughly recommend it!(less)

I love a good Shifter Romance series, so the Black Meadow Pack one really called out to me.
Sharp Change is the story of Sophia and Chase. Chase is the Pack Alpha and Sophia is his sister-in-law. These two have been panting for each other ever since their respective siblings got together, but had yet to do anything about it.
Chase is a pretty good character. Hot and all Alpha-male. He has wanted Sophia ever since he first laid eyes on her, but she seemed to not like him at all. We don't get to know what Chase does for a living, though.
Sophia I had a harder time liking. She is a Geneticist, supposedly extremely intelligent and calls herself a geek. I didn't witness any geek or brilliant moments from. I was actually very annoyed when she couldn't put two and two together and realize what was happening to her in the beginning, even after she realized she didn't even need glasses anymore. That got on my nerves REALLY fast.
The action was pretty good for such a shot story. The villains were creepy enough and the suspense was the perfect amount. The Sex was plenty hot and steamy, no complaints there =)
I really enjoyed the secondary characters and they made me very interested in getting to know them better, so that was an enormous plus.
All in all, Sharp Change was a very quick and HOT read. Despite not being a fan of Sophia, I did like her and Chase together and the story was plenty enjoyable.
What a lovely new world to get lost into! I have missed something like this ever since the Parasol Protectorate series finished and I am so glad a I gave “The Chronicle of Light and Shadow” Series a shot.
I really tried to know draw a parallel between these two paranormal steampunk series, but I was not successful and unfortunately because of this comparison Liesel Schwarz’s new series is just a bit shot from perfection.
The plucky and ahead of her time heroine, Elle Chance, is a delight to read. She is smart, resourceful and a blast. I loved reading about her, her relationship with the world around her and with the secondary characters.
I really liked the hero as well. Hugh Marsh is plenty swoon worthy and perfect for Elle. I loved their interaction, though I wish we had a bit more to read of them both after the adventure ended.
A Conspiracy of Alchemists is a historical thrill ride that I utterly enjoyed! I really do need to put my Parasol Protectorate comparisons to rest, since Gail Carriger’s voice is one of a kind. All on its own, this beginning of a new series is full of promise and I for one am definitely along for the ride. =)(less)

Hot Blooded starts off almost exactly where Full Blooded ended. Jessica is not only a target to many supernatural races, but her Mate was kidnapped by God who thinks she has the dibs on Jessica’s man.
Now it’s up to Jessica, Tyler, Danny, a human and two vamps to ride to the the rescue. If only it was that easy! If the journey doesn’t kill them and if they survive the bitchy God’s wrath, Jessica still has to deal with the deal she made with the Vamp Queen in order to get two Vamp trackers to help her.
Hot Blooded is another action-packed installment to the Jessica McClain series. The novel starts full-throttle and it doesn't let out until the very end.
We get so much Danny and Tyler goodness in Hot Blooded! They are such fantastic secondary characters. We also get a great surprise from the Vamp corner in the form of Naomi and let’s not forget Jessica’s dad Callum, always a treat!
We get very little of Jessica’s Mate, but he is still as hot as ever and I cannot wait to read about him and Jessica spending more time together. I am trying really hard to not spoil anything. Just know that Full Blooded was not a fluke, Hot Blooded was even better, if that’s possible! I expect the Jessica McClain series to carve out an even bigger piece of my heart with every new novel! Thanks Amanda!

Jessica has always been the odd girl out among the werewolves in the Pack and in the world. The only female born in a all-male race, Jessica has suffered hard core bullying and all-out murder attempts ever since she can remember and all because of a prophecy and she is not even a full blooded wolf. Who knew wolves were so superstitious?
Now Jessica is in even more danger, because against all odds after ten years of nothing happening, Jessica has finally shifted into a wolf. Not only that, but she apparently has more powers than even the strongest werewolves out there. If the wolves felt they needed to eliminate her before, imagine now? Let’s not forget that the whole supernatural world is watching and waiting to see what she can do.
Adding to Jessica’s problems, she has found her mate. The one man she is meant to spend eternity with. Can her life get any more complicated? In a genre that is full of nearly the same creatures and stories, it is very hard to deliver a fresh Urban Fantasy series. The Jessica McClain series is not really adding anything new to the genre, but it is a very compelling and entertaining addition to it, nonetheless!
Jessica is an amazing heroine that I fell in love with right from the start and Amanda Carlson’s world building is definitely top notch and gripping.
Full Blooded is action packed, but still full of heart. Adding to the awesomeness that is Jessica McClain, the secondary characters of her father, the Alpha, her twin brother, best friend, James, her secretary and so many more, is what makes this series stand out in the midst of an UF sea.
The Jessica McClain series has already carved out a piece of my heart and I already and jonesing for more! if you love Urban Fantasy, you NEED to try this series out!

I have been intrigued by Kaleb for a long time, but have always been afraid that I would have a hard time believing in him as a hero. I shouldn't have worried, because Nalini Singh once again has written an amazing addition to this awesome series, one that might even be her best work yet!
Kaleb had everything to be the series biggest villain, but it's instead the series' most complicated character to date. He was taken at a young age, tortured and conditioned by a serial killer to continue his legacy. He has the potential to level the world and destroy the psynet and his race, but his love for a woman he met 16 years before is all that has kept him from this destructive path.
7 years ago his best friend and owner of his heart was taken from him violently and his unstoppable pursuit of the girl he has always loved but had believed he didn't deserve, has finally paid off.
I don't wanna ruin this book for you guys, but the Heroine of Heart of Obsidian is the best heroine of this series! She is so amazingly strong and steadfast even thought she had every reason to be simply the victim, that I dare you not to love her.
Heart of Obsidian is a fantastic addition to one of the best Paranormal Romance series in existence. Kaleb and the heroine's story had me in tears, the romance was beautiful, the smex was got as hell and the action nonstop.
If you like Paranormal Romance you'll love this series and if you are a fan of the Psy-Changelings, Heart of Obsidian is a MUST read!(less)
