What a lovely new world to get lost into! I have missed something like this ever since the Parasol Protectorate series finished and I am so glad a I gave “The Chronicle of Light and Shadow” Series a shot.
I really tried to know draw a parallel between these two paranormal steampunk series, but I was not successful and unfortunately because of this comparison Liesel Schwarz’s new series is just a bit shot from perfection.
The plucky and ahead of her time heroine, Elle Chance, is a delight to read. She is smart, resourceful and a blast. I loved reading about her, her relationship with the world around her and with the secondary characters.
I really liked the hero as well. Hugh Marsh is plenty swoon worthy and perfect for Elle. I loved their interaction, though I wish we had a bit more to read of them both after the adventure ended.
A Conspiracy of Alchemists is a historical thrill ride that I utterly enjoyed! I really do need to put my Parasol Protectorate comparisons to rest, since Gail Carriger’s voice is one of a kind. All on its own, this beginning of a new series is full of promise and I for one am definitely along for the ride. =)...more
I am a huge fan of Devon Monk's Allie Beckstrom series, so when I read that Shame was getting his spin-off... I was over the moon!
I loved Hell Bent, I loved getting a glimpse into the characters I fell in love with through the years and also meeting a host of new characters and getting to know this new, post-catastrophe world.
Shame was always a favorite of mine and I worried that his darkness would make a not so enjoyable book... I shouldn't have worried so much, Shame is still in a very dark place, but Devon Monk did a great job in balancing that out in the story.
Hell Bent would have been worth 5 Loveys, if not for one details I can't go into in lieu of spoilers... However, I do comend Devon for being a fearless writer!
If you enjoyed the Allie Beckstrom series, this is a MUST! If you haven't read the previous series, it's totally ok too... Any Urban Fantasy Lover will get sucked in this awesome new series!...more
Hot Blooded starts off almost exactly where Full Blooded ended. Jessica is not only a target to many supernatural races,Minor Spoilers of Full Blooded
Hot Blooded starts off almost exactly where Full Blooded ended. Jessica is not only a target to many supernatural races, but her Mate was kidnapped by God who thinks she has the dibs on Jessica’s man.
Now it’s up to Jessica, Tyler, Danny, a human and two vamps to ride to the the rescue. If only it was that easy! If the journey doesn’t kill them and if they survive the bitchy God’s wrath, Jessica still has to deal with the deal she made with the Vamp Queen in order to get two Vamp trackers to help her.
Hot Blooded is another action-packed installment to the Jessica McClain series. The novel starts full-throttle and it doesn't let out until the very end.
We get so much Danny and Tyler goodness in Hot Blooded! They are such fantastic secondary characters. We also get a great surprise from the Vamp corner in the form of Naomi and let’s not forget Jessica’s dad Callum, always a treat!
We get very little of Jessica’s Mate, but he is still as hot as ever and I cannot wait to read about him and Jessica spending more time together. I am trying really hard to not spoil anything. Just know that Full Blooded was not a fluke, Hot Blooded was even better, if that’s possible! I expect the Jessica McClain series to carve out an even bigger piece of my heart with every new novel! Thanks Amanda!
Anytime Molly Harper has a new book in the pipeline, it makes me ridiculously happy! I love her writing, it's always hilarious and heart warming at the same time.
How To Run With A Naked Werewolf is no exception by any stretch. I loved getting a glimpse of the heroes and heroines of the previous Naked Werewolf novels.
I didn't know who the main characters would be for this one, but I was very pleasantly surprised. How To Run With A Naked Werewolf is a fantastic comical paranormal romance with heart, if this is the kind of book you like to to read, this is a MUST!
I really hope Molly Harper has more Naked Werewolf novels in her... I can't wait for more!
I love Molly Harper's Books. She writes hilarious characters and has created a great paranormal world. I miss Jane Jameson's stories in her Nice Girls series, but this spin-off series is the perfect substitute.
Half Moon Hollow is a hot bed of paranormal activity and in A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses we meet another delightful heroine in Nola Leary.
Nola is desperate. Her grandma passed away and left the responsibility to save her family's magical heritage in Nola's hands. However to do so, she must travel from Ireland to Half Moon Hollow to find four magical Elements.
There are some secrets revealed and great twits in A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses and let's not forget about the great cast of characters that show up to help Nola out. Including the great Jena Jameson, her husband Gabriel, Dick and Andrea.
I loved A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses! I read it cover to back in one sitting and had a blast in doing so! The book stands on its own, but I recommend checking out the Nice Girls series books and the previous Half Moon Hollow books as well. You don't need to, to understand A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses, but they are so great that you shouldn't miss out on them all!
This newest Molly Harper romper is fantastic and a must if you enjoy paranormal romances with a funny twist. Don't miss out on this incredible series and book!...more
I have totally enjoyed the Time of Transition series since book 1, The Wish List. I love the concept of the series and haRating: 3.5 Stars
I have totally enjoyed the Time of Transition series since book 1, The Wish List. I love the concept of the series and have been looking forward to each installment as they came. As You Wish was a great sequel and it made hunger for the finale to this very cool trilogy.
In Wishful Thinking we finally get to know the third and final new Fairy Godmother, Stormy. Stormy is the daughter of two artists and has lived in an artists colony for most of her life and being an artist herself, she finds great comfort there.
On the hero side of things, we have Hunter, a guard to the council of the Arcani (People with magic) and oath bound to follow the council's rulings. He is designated as one of the guards that "protect" Stormy and keep her away from the other Fairy Godmothers, who have been considered traitors of the Arcani race.
Wishful Thinking a great last book to a great trilogy and I have been dying for the end game in the Time of Transition series for a few years now.
However, the one thing that put me off about Wishful Thinking was the rushed ending. I realized that since there are only three Fairy Godmothers, the trilogy would be dunzo with Wishful Thinking, but all of the sudden I was only 15 pages away from the end of the book and the final showdown had not happened yet. So i started thinking, "wait is there going to be a fourth book?", I mean "can it all be wrapped up in 15 pages?".
Yes, it was all finished in 15 pages. After all the issues and heart ache of these three books, we get a quickly laid out ending that only basically describes how everything turned out after the showdown. It felt too easy and too fast after all that these characters had been through. Even though I love the characters, the world, the story, i think the ending was not what it could have been and what they deserved.
All in all even though i was not happy with part of the end of Wishful Thinking, I did enjoy the book very much and the last chapter was very sweet. =D

The Bad: The only bad thing for me it is that it's too short.
The Action & Heart: As much action and swoon as you can have in such short installment.

Stacia kane is a wizard with words. She has been able to turn a unrepentant drug addict into a likable heroine that you can't help but root for. Of course, you do want to jump into the book and kill her from time to time, but after Chess gets into your heart, you are done for.
I have to say though, that a lot of that likability is on the hero’s shoulders. I mean, what would the Downside Series be without Terrible? I don’t know, but it would definitely be much less enjoyable.
Terrible is as fantastic and reliable as ever. Sacrificial Magic was a wild ride, but I LOVED Chasing Magic even more. It is hard to love Chess sometimes, but I absolutely adore the interactions between her and Terrible, not to mention that you can’t help but keep rooting for these two kids to find happiness together.
Even though Chess can get on my nerves sometimes, the glimpses we get from her past, makes me want to join her in her drug induced numbness.
Regardless, Chess and Terrible have become one of my favorite couples and Chasing Magic is another emotional roller coaster that you don’t want to get out of.
Besides the romance, Chasing Magic is full of nail botting and intriguing action that will not let you stop reading for a second. I love how Stacia Kane is able to balance both sides of the series and deliver not only an action-packed novel, but a heart wrenching one as well.
Sacrificial Magic is my favorite Downside book so far and I hope there is more Chess and Terrible’s adventures to come, because I cannot get enough of it!

Larissa Ione has done it again! Lethal Rider is a fantastic romance with incredible fast-paced action that will leave you breathless and break your heart.
With every book I read from Larissa Ione, I am more and more amazed with her ability to write with the perfect balance between HOT Romance and an Action packed adventure. I can honestly count on one hand’s finger how many author have that incredible talent. Every single book I read by Larissa Ione feels so effortless and is absolutely impossible to stop reading for a second!
Lethal Rider is the story of Thanatos, the Horseman of the Apocalypse also known as Death. Than’s road to happiness started back in Immortal Rider, but we get the whole of it in Lethal Rider and what an amazing ride it is.
Than is damaged, to say the least, and after 5 thousand years of life, a terrible curse, uncountable deaths and losing a brother to Evil, Happiness is the furthest thing from his mind and heart, regardless of how much he might desire it.
Regan is a Guardian/Warrior of the Aegi, the human organization that hunts demons. Ever since the dominos have started fallen and the Apocalypse has become more imminent, the Aegi has been changing its ways, allying with Demons and Vampires with like minds and trying to find a way to save the World.
When Regan follows an order from the Aegi in accordance with a prophecy, her fate interconnects with Thanatos’ and both their lives will never be the same. Regan is just as damaged as Than, she just has had a shorter life span. Born from an Aegi Guardian Mother’s coupling with her Guardian Husband while possessed by a Demon, Regan has incredible powers that the Aegi fear and therefore treat her like a freak.
Feeling unwanted from birth, Regan has only the Aegi to call her own, but when her fate joins Thanatos’, life as she knew it will never be the same and it is time for her to create her own destiny.
One of the most incredible things about Larissa Ione’s novels is that they are never just about the Happily Ever After of a couple. We have so much going on and so much fast-paced action that it is impossible not to be enthralled by the stories Larissa weaves. Not to mention her talent in making the Demonica and the Lords of Deliverance series almost one and the same by giving us glimpses of our favorite Demonica characters! All I can say to that is: YAY!
Lethal Rider is the perfect addition to the amazing Lords of Deliverance series. If you have yet to read this series or author, get off your butt and so right now! If you are a fan like me, you will absolutely LOVE Lethal Rider!

Terry Spear delivers another amazing installment in her Wolf series, Heart of the Wolf. I so love this series. The smex is always hot, but there is also an interesting plot to keep you entertained and glued to the book.
I love how her characters from different books end up being interconnected in some way, even if they never meet. not to say that you should not read A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing without having read the previous books, but I honestly think you’ll enjoy it more if you do. I feel only a couple of books in the series are really completely disconnected, the rest the threads of family or pack can be found between books, easily.
Now back to A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing, we met Meara in the third book in the series, To Tempt The Wolf. She is the sister of that book’s hero and was fascinating even then. I remember being intrigued by her spunk and sauciness and was looking forward to reading her story. We finally get it in A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing.
I bet it was so hard for Terry to create a character up to Meara’s standard, but Finn definitely fits the bill, ten fold if I may so. He is hot, smart, strong, determined and understanding. Despite being an ALPHA male he does know how to respect Meara’s wishes and tends to steamroll them in much lesser degree than most ALPHA males would.
I loved this couple and how much they fit each other, even though it took them long enough to figure that out. The intrigue surrounding them made for a very compelling plot as well and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing is a great addition to such an awesome series not to mention that it introduces more characters that I hope Terry Spear will not leave behind LOL.
If you are as much as a Paranormal Romance lover as I am and just can’t help loving wolves, this is definitely a series you should check out. if you are a fan, A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing should NOT be missed!
I have been such an avid fan of the Katherine “Kitty” Katt series from the get-go. Hilariously sweet, kick-ass, problem prone and sarcastic leading lady Kitty had me from her first right on the money comment and it has been a love affair ever since.
Of course, all the outrageously gorgeous Armani or non-Armani clad men in the series help a great deal, but it is definitely the combination an incredibly fast-paced storyline, interestingly appealing characters and Kick-ass action from different worlds that make this a must-read series.
Alien Diplomacy is the 5th installment in the series and I have to give cuddos to Gini Koch for not dropping the ball once in the series so far. I might get a bit lost sometimes with the addition of more and more characters with each and every single book, but Gini does a suberb job in helping me keep it all up.
In Alien Diplomacy, Kitty is back and even thought she is now married with a baby to take of and has just changed careers, she is far from getting complacent and forgoing all the action, or should I say that the action is not forgoing her? Hard to keep track, though Kitty is definitely a problem magnet to the n-th degree and being a Diplomat in DC will not change any of that one iota.
Alien Diplomacy gives us all of old and beloved characters like Christopher, who is now just as smitten as Martini once was, Amy, Reader, Gower, Ace, Richard (who has fallen into his new job quite awesomely) and so many more. We also get introduced to a host of new characters that will make all the Washington intrigue all that more, well... intriguing hehe.
If you are a fan of this amazing series, Alien Diplomacy is not only a must but essential to your reading health. However, if you have not read the series yet, that is just simply dangerous to your health in general, because I will kick your ass! ...more
YES! YES! YES! This is exactly what I was waiting for when I signed up to read this new Contemp. Romance series by Victoria Dahl. Bad Boys Do is a fabulous novel and not just because of the romance but for it’s emotional depth and look into family dynamics.
As I have said before, and it is worth mentioning again, I LOVE Victoria Dahl’s writing! She has been the only Contemp. Romance author that has enthralled me so much that she has become an auto-buy author for me.
After agreeing with ALPHA reader when she said that Good Girls Don’t had “too many uninteresting and intersecting stories detracting from the main romance.”, Bad Boys Don’t is proof that Dahl can write one hell of a book.
The Donovan Brothers Brewery trilogy follows three siblings on the road to love, but with a lot of obstacles and bickering.
I really enjoyed the romance between Luke and Tessa. However, I was completely sucked in by Jamie in Good Girls Don’t and was thrilled he got his HEA in Bad Boys Do .
Jamie has basically been the family for years and even though he has grown up and changed, he has the worst time in proving it to his older brother that he is fit for more responsibilities in the family business.
The family rift is a big plot line in Bad Boys Do and it’s extremely necessary not only for the storyline of the book but for the character’s growth and his romance.
Olivia is the older woman, the scorned woman, left by her husband for being “too plain and boring” and stuck in a life she did not choose. She then decides that some fun is in order and Jamie might be the perfect person to have fun with. What she didn’t expect was falling in love and finding in him a partner that not only is hot as hell but actually believes in her.
I LOVED Bad Boys Do ! Yeah, some characters really annoyed me at times, but that is just part of life, isn’t it? I mean, the annoying, overbearing and condescending older brother is not really anything new and I was glad Jamie and Eric’s relationship did get better, but it made me worry for the third and final book in the trilogy, Real Men Will, since it will be Eric’s book and he is just SO self-righteous!
But I digress, specially since this was Jamie and Olivia’s book. Bad Boys Do is full of family drama, but the main romance was sexy, heartbreaking and beautiful, all at the same time.
Good Girls Don’t might have been bittersweet for me, but Bad Boys Do was AMAZING and even though I’m afraid to read Eric’s book, since I don’t really like him, I most definitely will!...more
I still LOVE the world Wendy has created and I love that we never know what she has in store around the corner. Katla’s voice as a protagonist is amazing as well and you can’t help but be completely enthralled by her plea.
I really loved Jack in Stork, but I don’t know, I feel that maybe we need another strong male lead to create some tension in the story? I enjoy plot lines where the main couple’s love is tested by stronger forces and all, but I felt that Jack was too easily compelled and after all that he made Katla go through he simply wasn’t grateful and apologetic enough.
I don’t think this is something negative about the book per say, but it’s definitely something that made me annoyed, along with Katla’s single-mindedness about Jack.
The Young Hearts:
As I said about above, the romance left me unsatisfied in this one. I like Jack and all, but maybe there is someone out there that is better for Katla?
That is something I feel Wendy Desol did extremelly well! Great plot, world buiding and adventurous journey for our leading lady.
All in all, Frost was a great and one-sitting read for me and it definitely made me hunger for more from this world an characters. It’s originality and characters have what it takes to take you into the story and not let you go and I will be eagerly waiting for the next book in the series....more

For a while now I have been having issues with Y.A. novels. I can’t seem to just open myself up and try new Y.A. books or series, even of the Paranormal nature. However, there are a few series that I simply love and will keep on reading as the authors deliver awesome books.
The Mythos Academy is definitely one of these series. Jennifer Estep has created such a rich, scary and captivating world and characters that you can’t help but feel and root for them time and time again.
I love the heroine, Gwen, specially how different she is from other Y.A. heroines. She is strong, brave, smart and not perfect in the least. It is her flaws and shortcomings that make her such a lovable and believable heroine.
Dark Frost starts off not long after the end of Kiss of Frost and the we get punched in the gut with the action right off. I absolutely loved how Jennifer Estep is not afraid to bring out the pain and mayhem, specially in a world where the Pantheon, the God of Chaos, Reapers and a whole cast of myths are real.
We get tons of action throughout Dark Frost and a lot of surprises as well. I am so happy that Estep has forgone the Love Triangle in this series, Gwen already has enough obstacles in her life and heart, having to choose between two boys would have just been contrived in my point of view.
I can complain about anything in Dark Frost, it would be that at times there was some background information in weird places. However, that did not in any way, shape or form take anything away from me enjoying the book.
I really don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say that Dark Frost is fantastic! A great installment in a very exciting series and full of surprises. After the sneak peak of Crimson Frost in the end, I am even more excited for the next novel in the Mythos Academy series.
YES! This what I’ve been hoping for this series and Jennifer has delivered it in spades!
I was worried where this series was going after such a huge arYES! This what I’ve been hoping for this series and Jennifer has delivered it in spades!
I was worried where this series was going after such a huge arch had been finished and I am psyched about what Jennifer Estep has done in By a Thread.
The big bad of the last books is dead, so now what? Well, Gin’s life is far from being peaceful, since all the wannabe big bads have decided she needs to go and all that is taking its toll on our dear Assassin.
Gin goes on vacation, but instead of finding some peace and quiet, she not only finds more trouble than ever before, but also a blast from the past that could have stayed buried.
I loved this book! I believe this is my favorite in the series so far. My only grip with the series has been that it was feeling a bit repetitive, but Jennifer has come through with By a Thread and delivered a fantastic piece of Urban Fantasy.
Action-packed and full of heart is the best way for me to describe By a Thread and after this fantastic installment, I can’t help but have high hopes for the next novels to come.
If you have yet to read this series, I utterly recommend it and if you are already a fan, you won’t want to miss By a Thread for anything!
After the mind f*ck that Comfort Food was, I could not wait to check out what else Kitty Thomas had in store and when she requested the review of her newest novel, Tender Mercies, I jumped at the chance to read it.
I am glad to say that Kitty not only doesn’t disappoint with Tender Mercies, but dare I say it, that she delivers a n even better book than the first time around.
One of my favorite movies of all time is Secretary, which is a very unusual love story that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone out there, though the people that I have recommend it to, loved it. Tender Mercies is at its core a love story, not a conventional love story in any stretch of the word, but definitely one nonetheless.
Grace is a has always craved a full-on DOM-sub relationship for years, not only the occasional play in clubs and in the bedroom, but something permanent. So, when she finds out about an island that is a “country” all on its own, where men completely own women as slaves, she decides that that’s the life she wants.
However, the DOM she has chosen is an absolute monster and her life becomes hell in a place where she has no rights at all. When she is sold to Asher after being told that he has killed his last slave, Grace is sure her life is over, but she ends up finding the relationship she always wanted instead. That is until Asher’s past comes knocking and turns her world upside down once again.
One time might be a fluke, but with Tender Mercies Kitty Thomas proves to be an original and talented voice in the literary world. Writing beautiful and unconventional tales of love and acceptance, has brought to forth a new sub genre, Dark Literary Erotica, telling love and sexy stories with a unparalleled finesse.
I cannot wait to see what she will produce next. If you think you enjoy this kind of novel or if you are open for something out of the box, I definitely recommend Tender Mercies. You won’t regret it!...more
Amelia has been going to cemeteries ever since she was a little girl and used to help her dad in his caretaker job. At an early age she found out she could see ghosts, but her father gave her a set of rules to keep her safe, as long as she followed them to the letter.
These are not the friendly ghosts we usually read about, but parasitical entities that have the power to drain the life out of you.
Amelia is all grown up now and with a successful career as a Cemetery restorer. In The Restorer, she is working close to home when a series of dead bodies show up on her domain and she ends up helping the local police solve these murders.
The Restorer was delightfully creepy for me. The cemetery setting and way Amanda Stevens constructed the plot had me wishing I had read this book in day light, an that had never happened to me before.
However, that is not to say The Restorer doesn’t have its faults. I felt the story to be a bit dry at times and Amelia and Devlin’s almost romance to leave a little to be desired. I do hope there are more books in this series and that the author is able to develop these characters more.
Amanda did an incredible job when it came to setting the scene and making me feel like I was right there next to Amelia in such a creepy cemetery. The Restorer is not your run-of-the-mill Urban Fantasy and it should be considered more in the Mystery Thriller genre, a very good one at that....more
