It has just a touch of paranormal but not enough to call it a "paranormal romance." Let's call it "old school" LOL! I also love that it was a "sweet" story. There isn't much in the way of explicit scenes between the two main characters so it was a refreshing story. I thought the characters were great...including the cat! The cover makes it appear to be a scary story but it really isn't. It reminded me of a story like Jennifer Crusie's Maybe This Time.
Now it is an older book that was originally pubbed in 1994 and re-issued in 2008 so you might have to look around a little bit if you want it. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered another of Kay Hooper's books called Haunting Rachel. I think it'll be good!

I completely enjoyed this fantasy and the world building that was contained within the pages. I will admit to be slighty confused at first because it's almost like a fast forward to what was going to come. But then once it "slowed" down I was totally drawn in.
I loved the main character Sam, with all her spunk and determination, she made an excellent chick! I think semi-tomboys would probably really enjoy this one.
If you like to support Indie authors then this might be one to check out. (less)

I loved it of course...but I had to say I was expecting a much bigger BANG to the whole thing. I don't know why? Maybe I was expecting to much...but I still loved it! There were lots of shocking moments when secrets started to come out. I almost felt saddened when I found out that some of my favorite characters were not what they seemed. All in all though, it was another great book by Ms. Moning.

I enjoyed it. I liked the characters, the setting, and the storyline. It was all enjoyable. I did have one "issue" with the book though. I'm not a "clean" reader so to speak. I can handle "rough" language and curse words. Heck, I can even curse in french....but I found that for the target age group there may have been more strong language used than necessary.
I think it's fine for the OLDER YA readers and adults like myself who like YA. I also think it fit in with the story because let's face it...this is not a "girly" fix my makeup at a sleepover type book. I'm just pointing it out for those readers that don't like strong language.
Otherwise, I liked it and enjoyed reading about places I know and have been to. I'm interested to see what happens to these characters in the future. Ari is an interesting girl with some interesting issues so I imagine that there may be more twists and turns to this story before it's all over with.

It was a touching book that dealt with a difficult subject. It was interesting for me to read this one because I was fascinated by the fact that a teen wrote it. I liked seeing how a YA story was written from a YA perspective.
Paige does seem to be a descriptive writer who wants you to really know what's going on in the story. For a contemporary YA I thought it was a good and I can't wait to see this author grow over time.

This is one that the man or woman in your life can read and find enjoyable. It has a great balance for all. You'll be pulled into this one and flipping pages to find out what happens next.
This is book 5 in a series but I'll say that it can certainly stand alone. I haven't read the first four but I think I'll be searching for them soon.
I'll say that I think Lawson is awesome! (I rhymed!)

The Immortals After Dark Series has always rocked my world so I had been looking forward to this one. Sometimes I worry when I get excited that I'll end up being dissapointed. Not the case!
The plot twist is great and these characters are just spectacular. I love Regin and well; Aidan/Declan...gotta love the bad boys. We always want to straighten them out. *shrug*

It's a seriously enjoyable read that I think you should check out if you want to find something far away from romance and fluffy bunnies...oh and it has some cool pictures!

Skyler has written a thought provoking piece of work that will leave you asking deep questions about love, life, and how far that love can go.
It's not a book that you can speed read...you have to soak it in and take your time. You'll get caught up in these characters before you know it.

KT Grant's writing is smooth and flows well. (even though I have to admit that sometimes it seemed all odds were against the characters) She created a fun and sometimes serious story of two women from different walks of life. I often found myself rooting for them.
I'll say that this author can also write some extremely steamy "scenes." *ahem* (In keeping the site pg I'll leave it at that) I've seen this book being called erotic but my thought is this...I think (personally) it's classified that way because it's F/F. It has the same amount of "intimacy" you'd see in a M/F romance. Maybe I'm wrong but I saw it as just that, a romance.
Overall, I enjoyed the characters, the storyline, and the fast pace of the book. If your looking for a good F/F romance or just something different in your romance reading then maybe this one is for you.

I'll tell you that when I saw the summary on Librarything I went a little *crazy* trying to get my hands on one. *smile* The author was kind enough to send me this as a gift after noticing my intense desire to read it. I really appreciated that!
It was a completely engaging book with such unique content that I finished all 400 + pages within a day and a half. I COULD NOT put it down and when I did I was thinking about the next time I could read again.
Kathleen Winter's writing is touching, poignant, and just flows beautifully. I felt very connected to the emotional struggles of these well-written characters as I followed their story. This was so much MORE than just the subject matter...it was about human nature and our desire to fit in at any cost. (this is what I thought) Our psychology, our beliefs, society as a whole...it was a very deep and thought provoking.
For me, this book was a complete package and everything I could have hoped for. If I had to give an outstanding recommendation to a book right now, this would be the one.(less)

This first book really hooked me as it introduced me to the coven and Shauni. (She's the main character in Book 1.) I love how Suza made each of these characters so different and interesting. She really opened up the way for a great series!
I simply adored this book and personally found it to be different and refreshing. If your a paranormal fan and looking for something new then maybe this is one for you to try! (and Suza...I expect you to fill me in on the next book...*grin*)

I'm not even sure about how to describe it. You think it's paranormal at first but it's more of a sci-fi story. I'll say this much though...I adored it. Melanie's writing style is excellent and she draws you in with her fast-paced story development.
The characters are great and a very "real" bunch of teenagers. There are surprises at every turn and the storyline was unique. I really recommend this one to YA and "fallen angel" fans as I think you'll find something totally different and intriquing in this book.

1. I knew I'd like it because it was based on "small town" Louisiana. I tend to be harder on these books because I like to see an author capture the right "feel." Saundra did it here. She literally got the feel of summer in LA and the general everyday craziness that is our special blend of people LOL!
2. I liked the mystery of the story and the ghostly events that made it such a mystery. It was great following this group of kids as they tried to figure out what was going on.
So overall, I REALLY enjoyed it! I hope you'll check it out if you haven't yet!(less)

As much as I love YA I think that it tends to be "cleaned up" too much. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I often see. Forget You depicted "real" teenage characters in my opinion.
I can see where this wouldn't be for everyone but let's face it...they have teens who drink, smoke, curse and have sex. Maybe not all at the same time, but I promise you that it happens.
I think Echols did an awesome job of portraying that reality and what teens face on a daily basis. What did I think the theme was? Choices maybe? How we have to make them and how they affect our lives. You can find several messages within the pages of this one depending on how you interpret it.
I really, really thought this was a fantastic mainstream YA!(less)

I enjoyed the author's fast paced writing style; there was no fumbling over words or over descriptivness. (Is that even a word?) It was a meat & potatoes story right from the start! (Hopefully everyone knows what that expression means LOL!)
It was a refreshingly new storyline (for me) and the characters were very "interesting" shall we say. The lead character Andie was totally spunky and determined.
My only complaint....I don't think the cover matches the story. The cover made me think that it would be a much more "romantic" story but it had just a bit of romance and in my opinion a lot of spook! While looking at the author's website I saw that there were quite a few covers that were looked at. You can see them here. I think they could have gone with a "darker" one.
Really though, that is irrelevant to the story itself. I thought the book itself was excellent and this is an author that I plan on reading more of.(less)

I enjoyed Brenda's mix of romance and suspense very much but I'll say that there was MORE suspense/thriller to it than romance.
It was good though, because there was a ton of tension building between the two main characters which made you want to keep reading.
I liked the story line a lot! I've always found cult behavior quite interesting so this book kept my mind racing.

I enjoyed Sophie's character for the most part. At first, I kept wondering why heck she didn't stand up for herself! There were a few characters that I totally despised through the entire book. But...these characters are what make a story interesting. *shrug*
All in all, I was happy with the way the story turned out and delighted in watching the main character grow. I liked the message of the book also as I think it's an important one for all of us. Standing up for yourself and realizing that yes, you are important and in charge of your life.(less)

I truly was laughing out loud while reading this one. This author has a really great sense of humor that shows in her writing.
The storyline was entertaining and funny; the characters were unique, colorful, and relatable. I had a hard time putting this one down because I never knew what funny catastrophe or line would come next.
For example: (The main character has just gone to the grocery store for "singles" shopping.)
"It must have had a bit missing somewhere as it made a loud squealing noise like a mouse on ecstasy. The only way to steer it in a straight line was to try and twist it in a diagonal manner so it looked like I was purposely heading towards people, like a kamikaze shopper."
If you are looking for some light and fun romance then I would say to check this one out. I'm glad I read it!
