A second chance romance, smokin' hot sex, and some crazy good suspense!! Oh, and did I mention it's HOT. HOT. HOT!!!
Finnley has spent the last seventeen years with the man who she thought was her one, until recently. The lies have gotten worse and more frequent, to the point where she can't even really care anymore. Our story begins with Finnley finally throwing Jordan out for good.
When her best friend insists they need a night out, they end up at a bar they used to frequent as kids, only to run into Collin McDaniels, Finnley's one who got away, and boy did he grow up GOOD!!
Collin has never forgotten Finnley either, so it must be fate that brought them to this bar only one week after Collin moves back to town, right? Collin is now Captain of the fire department in the next town over and when he finds out that Finnley is separated from her douche bag husband, he decides to waste no more time!!
The sex is amazing!! The story is beautiful, and did I mention the sex is amazing??!
But seriously, I love a second chance love story, there is some crazy thrown in because I can tell you Jordan does not go away quietly, and it gets pretty hairy there for a bit, but I promise you it has a HEA!!
Can you believe it? All this in 125 pages! I read it all last night, I couldn't put it down, but I promise you there are parts in this book that will have you wanting to put it down to go in search of someone to put out your fire!! ENJOY!!...more
Ok, I just finished my review for book one but I have more to say! I finished book one at midnight a few nights ago and went right on to this one becaOk, I just finished my review for book one but I have more to say! I finished book one at midnight a few nights ago and went right on to this one because I simply couldn't get enough of Drew and Morgan(I finally had to quit for the night at 1:30am because my eyes we crossing) and I wanted to see where this book was going to take their story!
***If you have not read book one please don't continue on, as I don't want to end up giving spoilers.***
When we left Drew and Morgan at the end of book Drew had become a completely different man. He and Morgan we madly in love. He was still a tad controlling and dominating, but that was what Morgan wanted and needed so it's all good. They are living their lives together with their beautiful baby boy, Nicholas and all in all, life is good - on the surface anyway.
I will admit I was shocked as shit when I read the first scene where Drew backhanded Morgan across the face, I actually read it a couple times thinking I was reading it wrong or it was a flashback or something. Nope, that motherfucker was at it again!!
I admit, I was so fucking angry at this, especially when Morgan excused his behavior and made excuses for him!! I was livid!! But then.... I kept reading and although a lot of things in this story bothered me, maybe even more than the first book because I felt like Morgan was just ok with it all, I tried to understand and not be judgy(not sure if that's actually a word, but who cares) - They were going to counseling and working on the root of the issues, which is basically the story here. In this book we get to really know Drew and discover why he is such a fucked up bastard. I grew to love Drew, but I also spent chunks of the story hating him too!!!
Read it! You will know exactly what I mean!!
The bottom line is Morgan and Drew are madly in love, they have specific sexual tastes, and that's ok, they aren't always hearts and flowers and that's ok too. Don't get me wrong, there are HUGE parts of things that go on between them that are NOT OK, but they are a work in progress.
"I'm an imperfect man, and I've made my wife an imperfect woman. We're just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other. She will forever be my always."
This book eventually gets it (sorta) HEA as well and I think you will end up loving Drew, even in all his fucked-up-ness whether you want to or not!! Either way I will say again, if you can handle a story depicting the sometimes ugly side of love and relationships and keep an open mind and not judge you are in for a story that will stay with you for a long time after you finish!!
This girl for one hopes we get to visit Drew and Morgan again down the road!! I'm not ready to give them up yet!! :)...more
I'm not sure I can even begin to describe how much I LOVED this book, but I'm damn sure gonna try!!
Warning! This is not your everyday fall in love roI'm not sure I can even begin to describe how much I LOVED this book, but I'm damn sure gonna try!!
Warning! This is not your everyday fall in love romance. This book contains disturbing situations, strong language, graphic, sexual content - some forced, some not. If it's a happily ever after love story that you are looking for, you should probably move on. If you are up for the ride, stick around and it may just turn into a love story after all.
That describes this story perfectly and I loved every second. I love nothing more than a good story that fucks with my head and HOLY SHIT does this one do that!!
We spend the first part of the story living Morgan's nightmare life with her. Her shitty childhood, her awful wedding to Drew and her horrendous six years of marriage with him. Let me introduce Drew, he is a horrible, fucked up, piece of shit! You will hate him with such a fiery passion that it's almost to much to bear. He is abusive, both physical and sexual and sadistic, both physical and sexual and when Morgan escapes him I literally did a fist pump while reading!
With a little help, Morgan runs and she starts her life over in a small town in Maine. Here she comes alive, makes new friends and even falls in love. Her life is wonderful for a couple years. That is until she finds herself back in Las Vegas and gets into a car accident that steals her memory. Of course Drew is there playing attentive husband and takes her home.
We now meet a completely different Drew than the one we knew. This one is attentive and loving and Morgan is different too, she isn't afraid, she does what she wants and they actually begin to fall in love, for real!! That is until she remembers everything!! But this time she isn't afraid and she is in love with this monster man so she has to figure out what she wants.
"Do you think it's still Stockholm syndrome when you fall in love with the Drew that you didn't know?"
There are a lot emotions in this book and I don't even understand why I feel the way I do about some of it. Your feelings and emotions will fly all over the map and back again - yeah, it's that good!!
There is a somewhat HEA but I will say again, if you can't handle the ugly side of love and relationships and you have a problem reading about abuse, you should really move on right now. This is not for you, but if you are looking for a great story that will leave you begging for more then I can't recommend this enough!! Jettie Woodruff has just become an auto-buy for me!!!
I have to start by saying how much I LOVED this series!! SO much so that it has been a couple days sinc15+++ FANTASTIC STARS FOR THE ENTIRE TRILOGY!!!
I have to start by saying how much I LOVED this series!! SO much so that it has been a couple days since I finished and I can’t seem to get these great characters out of my head! I know I am posting this review on book 3 but this is going to encompass all three books and I am going to try my damndest to keep it spoiler free. I want to try to express how amazing this story was without giving away any of the ‘OMG-Holy Shit-WTF! That did not just happen’ parts.
We start in book one with Caden and Ever meeting at art camp at 14 and hitting it off, they become instant friends. Now, of course they are young and live quite a distance from each other, so they decide to become pen pals at the end of camp. Now, in this day and age of social media, texting and every kid over the age of 6 having their own cell phone, I was just giddy at the idea of pen pals! Actual letter writing, sending in the mail, pen pals! Oh, and their letters over the next four years are just beautiful. I love Cade and Ever together!! However, if there ever was a boy who needed some good luck it’s Cade! Holy Shit, that boy is simply amazing for just not losing his shit over the years. So many shitty things happen in his life that you just want to stop everything and hug him, like every few pages!
But through it all he had his letters to Ever and hers to him and they both grow into adulthood! When they finally get together IRL (in real life) it is simply magical – there is just no other word for it. It’s like they became whole once they finally made it to each other. I like to think this is my favorite of the three books just because it is sweet and hopeful and we need that to get through what’s coming!
Ok, I’m not sure how to go on to book two without giving shit away so I am going to be very vague, sorry but all I can say is YOU NEED TO READ THESE!
“I love you. No matter what. Forever and Always.”
Tragedy strikes at the end of book one. And turns their lives upside down! All of their lives. Including the life of Ever’s twin sister, Eden, who hasn’t had a real big part up until now but is thrown into the thick of it. This is probably one of the saddest, most emotional stories I have ever been totally captivated by! And I was, TOTALLY CAPTIVATED. You can actually feel the pain radiating off of the pages! There were parts that I would all of a sudden realize I had been crying because it was heartbreaking!
Now don’t lose faith, we have to get through the pain to come out the other side, right? Well, pull your sobbing ass through book two and on to book three where we have overcome tragedy, but now there are some issues that have to be dealt with. Sometimes grief and loneliness result in some unwise choices and when those come to light we need to deal with the consequences.
“Sometimes, all you can do is push through. Make mistakes and accept them.”
Book three finds the addition of a new character, Carter, whom I loved btw! Eden meets him when she moves up to Traverse City. I can’t give you a whole lot more, other than there are a lot of things to be resolved in book three and I promise you they are and you will end satisfied, although emotionally drained! All of them and I promise you all of our characters get a hard won, well deserved HEA! ...more
I don't know whether to laugh or cry or scream, but I do know that I did everyone of these things during this boOMFG!!! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??!!
I don't know whether to laugh or cry or scream, but I do know that I did everyone of these things during this book. Ok, except laugh, because this was the saddest fucking book I think I have ever read!!! But I have to give it five stars because I couldn't stop reading, it consumed me and that is what makes a great story in my book!! :)
I HATED it but I LOVED it for the emotion it evokes in me and the realness of the situation!! OMG!! I need to finish, so on to book 3!! All I can say it there better be a HEA in here, someway, somehow or I just might lose my shit!!...more
