I received a copy of A Veil of Glass and Rain for an honest review.
Brina and Eagan have known each other for a long time and after Brina stole a kiss from Eagan she ran away. Now, years’ later Eagan has come to Rome to be close to Brina to try and win her heart once and for all. Brina doesn’t know what to make of her friends sudden reappearance in her life and while trying to suppress her feelings for him she realizes she needs to come clean about everything so their relationship can move on. Eagan surprises her though when he proclaims he has been in love with her all this time and after so many years apart they begin to build their lives together in Rome.
I hate giving negative reviews, I do everything I can to avoid writing them but I promised to give an honest review so here it goes. A Veil of Glass and Rain seemed to me like a poorly written book that mocked the entire genre of New Adult. I loved the description and thought it would be about two best friends falling in love. Instead the entire book was more or less to two in love (who need some major counseling I might add because Brina definitely suffers from anorexia and maybe depression while Eagan probably suffers depression and anger issues after his best friend was killed) who are more or less addicted to each other and have lots of sex and little interactions that have nothing to do with sex when the two are together. There are a lot of back flashes of Brina and Eagan’s life together which I thought were executed poorly and seemed very random. While the book could have been great given the sights and their careers..it just wasn't good.
All in all, the novel A Veil of Glass and Rain was a story that fell very short in every aspect. There was no character growth instead the characters only became worse in their addiction and obsession for each other. There were a lot of grammar problems that were hard to ignore and seemed worse in this novel than any I’ve ever read. The writing seemed like the author was trying too hard and ended up coming out wordy and sounding ridiculous. I personally wouldn’t recommend this book but I don’t discourage anyone from reading it. Everyone has different tastes and preferences and A Veil of Glass and Rain just wasn’t for me.(less)

This book goes back and forth between Ella's perspective and Micha's perspective. This book is recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual situations.
The book starts out on a bridge with our two main characters. Ella has taken some medication and is trying to get through the pain of her mothers death when Micha shows up and makes her come down. That night, she packs up and leaves her home town and Micha without a word. She heads to college to change her life around and to become a new person. Her plan was working, but that was until she had to go home for Summer Break. The home and everything she tried so hard to leave behind, including Micha.
Back at home for the last year Micha has been searching frantically to Ella. After she dropped off the grid he dropped all of his activities and basically everything in his life in his search for her. Now she's home, only she's not. She looks and is pretending to be someone else. Someone who isn't his best friend, and the girl he's been in love with since he was 16.
Ella and Micha both have some insane emotional problems, lots and lots of emotional baggage. Most of the time Ella is struggling with the problems she left behind and trying not to deal with them. Micha on the other hand is trying to bring his best friend back, and that means making her deal with them. There is a crap load of sexual tension in this book too which was freaking sexy:
“I dare a kiss against her shoulder, relishing the softness of her skin, wanting her so God damn bad I’m getting a hard on just thinking about it. Ella notices too and squirms around in my lap, making it worse.”
There a bunch of scenes like that one hehe loved it.
When Ella and Micha finally get together I have to say it's epic, and awesome. Their personalities are so perfect together. When life takes them on separate paths they do their own thing which I really liked. I think the fact that they could move on together without actually being together every second made their love and the story more realistic. That and the fact that even though they finally got together their problems weren't suddenly fixed. They still had problems they had to deal with and I had to admire that.
If you are looking for a quick amazing read I would highly suggest this book. Also there will be more books so be on the look out! 8) Like my review please let me know that also, I love comments!(less)

Pleasantly surprised but I did have to read it a couple of times to get all the symbolism and meaning behind everything. None the less I did read anther book not from this century and I wanted to gloat! Yippee for me and I was so proud when I went to class and was able to answer a lot of questions. Thank you English class for helping me broaden my library!!(less)

The story had its' twist and turns and completely surprised me at some parts. I was happy with how everything turned out, and I wasn't mad at Ivy this entire story either. Everything ended up working out. Ivy turned out to be super strong, and less of a pain in the ars, which I liked. (less)

Thank goodness no one was around or that would have been embarrassing. I love what Dawsons' back story gave to the Lux series, because it helped with other parts of the story, like why Deamon is such a bootie hole, and why he's so protective. I still despise Andrew though, he's such a dirty rug muffin. I also liked that Adam talked in this one cuz he didn't do much of that in Obsidian. Dawson was all kinds of alien hotness, I can see that even though Dawson and Daemon look the same, they have very different personalities. I really liked Bethany too. She's some what similar to Katy where they both have passions for things. I love how even though Bethany falls head over heals for Dawson she still remains an awesome character and not like drooling over herself until she sees Dawson again. Which is another reason all of Jennifer L.'s female characters rock. Ugh, I hate waiting to see what happens, but I think this series is worth it. 8)
""A spork," Dee said, grabbing her bag. "What is a spork?"
Bethany's mouth dropped open. "You've never seen one?"
"Dee doesn't get out much," Dawson replied grinning.
"Shut up." Dee pulled out the fork and spoon in one and smiled. "I've never seen one of these! Ha. This is so handy." She looked over at Daemon eyes dancing. "We could get rid of half of our silverware and get like ten of these and we'd be set for life.""(less)

I finally figured out what all the excitement was about with this series. Jeri Smith-Ready is a complete genius. I can't wait to start the next book.
I have to say I cried A LOT during this entire book. This book hit so close to home.
Logan is honestly the perfect boyfriend, and a great ghost even. I have to say even though he did stupid things, he was still an amazing person.
Zachary was equally amazing. Wowza men with accents are super sexy, with secrets of his own.
Aura was an amazing character to read about. She was such a realistic character. As was everyone is this book. I just loved it.
This book talks so much about the affects of loss. How everything reminds you of that person, how everyone wants you to move on. Shade just completely captures the difficulty and pain that happens when you lose someone you love, or care for.
The cover is so perfect for this book. The purple is the color of the ghosts and I just love how it surrounds Aura with the hand reaching her.
There are no words for how amazing this book is, and I hope you enjoy this book too.
Favorite Quote: "Haunting, yeah. So much fun. If I want to be with my family, it means watching them cry. It means knowing that I put those tears in their eyes." hr looked at me across the courtroom. "As for Aura, I hung out with her after I died, and even though she made me happy, it killed me not to touch her, it killed me to know we had no future. And now, because I died, I've lost her."(less)

The cover is amazing, and I was anticipating finding out what a Glimmerglass was.
While I was reading Glimmerglass, I was fairly certain I wasn't going to write a review on his book. I know the rule is: If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all. I try to follow that rule in my every day life, even so that is why I almost didn't write a review. However, I ended up sort of enjoying the ending a little bit, and figured I could write a little on it. Now keep in mind, this is only my opinion. If you liked/ loved this book please let me know what you enjoyed about it. I would love hearing from you.
Throughout the first two hundred pages of the book, I honestly thought I was going to have to quit reading this book. I was not a big fan of the character who to me was just whinny and immature, and just completely unlikable to me. The story-line was so slow, but when it picked up it really picked up which was great. Reading about Avalon was so amazing, I seriously wished I could visit it in reality because it sounded so amazing. There are hottie guts, blooming friendships, major conflicts, and from what I could tell possibilities for a love triangle angle. There was also, mythical lands, fairy powers, and power plays. Also, this book is extremely descriptive, and consists mostly of inner dialogue.
Characters: My favorite character had to be Keane. He was super sexy, although when reading it sounded as if ALL the male characters are super sexy...another reason I would seriously need to visit Avalon. To me it seemed as if any character but Dana had a strong personality, and to me were more likeable. Dana became likeable to me towards the end of the book which means that I will probably need to go out and get the second books. Which is called Shadowspell.
Overall, if you are struggling through Glimmerglass, I would suggest finishing just in case you end up like me, and like the ending.
Favorite Quote: To me this scene was incredibly funny. "Glad to hear it," he replied with a cocky smile. "Now why didn't you go for my balls when I slung you over my shoulder? I let you hang low enough to have a shot." I pushed myself up to a sitting position, ducking my heas to hide the blush I was sure colored my cheeks. "Only in your wildest dreams am I touching you there."(less)

After an incident at school that had the entire school freaked out she was asked to be schooled elsewhere and to only come if there was testing. With that she attends a school where she is tutored about Alchemy. Donna is training to be and Alchemist much like her parents were before the accident that left her father dead, her mother in a mental house and Donna a freak.
When Donna was seven she was attacked and running away in the woods while wood elves and other vicious creatures from the fairie world. Having been saved by her father she was still critically wounded forever and now her arms are encased with magic iron that covers both of her hands and arms.
Keeping everything a secret is hard for Donna, especially from her best friend. After a strange occurrence at a party Donna goes searching for answers, and what she finds changes what she thought she knew forever. When Navin goes missing after being kidnapped by the wood elves that have been stalking her she seeks out Xan, a half-fae who has a past with the wood elves as well. Together the embark to find some answers, and to get her best friend back.
This book felt very predictable to me. Every time I thought something was going to happen it did, total buzz kill for me. Donna was an alright protagonist but nothing special to me. Overall I found this book to be a complete drag and it was difficult for me to get through much of it. (less)

I was not a big fan on werewolves and thought this series would be about a girl who lived with wolves and wanted to be one because she felt left out. Much to my surprise this book was like nothing I expected. Therefore, after falling in love with the series I was dying with anticipation for the conclusion to Jennifer Lynn Barnes Raised by Wolves trilogy. I raced right to the store and bought Taken by Storm without hesitation. Then I do what I usually do when one of my most favorite series is coming to an end. I stalled on reading it. It was very hard to do because I swear that beautiful purple cover just called to me. So I started reading and couldn't put it down. I have to say I wanted to toss the book out into a storm after I picked up on the foreshadowing(although I will not share what that was in case you haven't read it). There are no words I can use to describe this book without giving anything away so I will just say that I laughed A LOT, cried...more than a lot, and was taken by surprise at almost every turn of the page. I have to say Devon will always be my favorite character because he is so funny, and managed to stay true to himself always. It broke my heart when Bryn or anyone else would talk about the female weres in the werewolf society. I truly do love the way that Jennifer Lynn Barnes brings everything about her characters, and the rules they live by to life. The way secondary characters are just as important and have their own stories, just as much as the narrator. The way she described every aspect so that when a character felt something it almost felt as if I were feeling it too. Truly impeccable writing.
What I didn't like: I totally saw everything coming that happened in the end, I knew was going to happen. I kind wish there was a little more of a surprise factor. The foreshadowing was way to obvious for me. To be honest this book was my least favorite in the series.
Favorite quote was: "His thumb traced the lines of my jaw. I leaned into his touch, opening my eyes and staring into his, so blue that I could have lost myself in them, if only for a moment. "Ahem." Chase broke away from the kiss, and the two of us turned to our left to see Caroline and Lake standing side by side. Lake had a good nine inches on Caroline, and though they were both blonde, they looked nothing alike-but the expressions on there faces were almost identical. This wasn't awkward of anything. Lake who'd known me longer and was less capable of keeping her smart mouth shut, broke the silence. "Sorry to interrupt, but we weren't sure if you crazy kids were going to come up for air." I wondered how much, if any, of our fight they had overheard. "I mean, really, B., you and lover boy here ought to look into careers in deep-sea diving."" (less)

Well let me just say...HOLY CRAP ON TOAST THIS BOOK IS MADE OF AWESOMESAUCE!!!! Seriously I was hooked to this series from the very beginning. I love all of Cassandra Clare's books and City of Lost Souls was no exception. I love all different point of views there were from the different characters. The multiple POV's definitely made the story more enjoyable because we could figure out what was going on and how almost everyone was feeling. I still love Clary though. She's so amazing. In this story she never lost sight of what she was doing, and she always knew exactly who she was throughout the entire story. I have to say Jocelyn was pissing me off a bit. Oh and I loved the insight on Sebastian we got in this book. It was the most I've seen of him and it was amazing. He's such an amazing manipulator and at times I almost believed him. However, that nasty bleep he pulled towards the end pf the book was so sick I swear to whoever I wanted to kick him in the face. Ew factor to the extreme. I swear the dilemmas that come up in this story are so real life and not it's amazing. Like relationship problems...it's not like almost everyone hasn't or won't deal with that at some point and the way the characters go through them it's so close to what we all deal with...sort of not the I'm your brother but still super attracted to you type of thing but yeah. Anyway I loved the different locations the characters went to. Magnus was his usual amazing self. Alec really pissed me off at some parts, but like I said I could understand why he did what he did a lot of the time. Many of the pages had me laughing so hard. Each page in this book made me want to read more and more and kept me interested throughout the entire book. Which is seriously amazing. I'm super duper sad that I have to wait until 2014 to read the next Mortal Instruments book, however I know it will be well worth the wait.
Favorite Quote: Every time I read this quote I laugh. Hehe “Jordan doesn't really care about the blood," Simon said now. "His whole thing is about me being comfortable with what I am. Get in touch with your inner vampire, blah, blah." Clary slid in next to him onto the bed and hugged a pillow. "Is your inner vampire different from your...outer vampire?" "Definitely. He wants me to wear midriff-baring shirts and a fedora. I'm fighting it." Clary smiled faintly. "So your inner vampire is Magnus?”(less)

NOOOOO!!! Why must it end!?!?! *Sigh* Once again H.M. Ward is messing with my fragile emotions with yet another jaw dropping cliffhanger. Oh the agony!
It’s Sean and Avery’s last night together. While Sean offered Avery the title of permanent call girl Avery had to accept for her pride and her wellbeing for if Sean ever left Avery would once again be on her own with nothing to show for herself. To end their night together Sean makes love to Avery which I was like “whoa! Sean is being very swoon worthy right now!” Seriously after reading about him in Damaged 2 I totally see him as a giant butt head. I mean I never thought he was a peach but I didn’t think he was an ass…he totally is though!! Anyway when Avery goes to work the next day with Henry he surprises her with anger and she’s forced to leave while Gabe takes care of him. Now on call for another job the next weekend Avery doesn’t know what to do or feel and with Sean gone Avery just feels lonelier and lonelier (8() When Peter shows up to tell her to go after Sean Avery doesn’t believe her ears. After deciding not to go after Sean Avery goes to her appointment and gets the shock of her life….or at least of the day.
I have to say Arrangement #8 felt a whole lot like a filler which I could care less because the humor and great writing by H.M. Ward made the whole experience enjoyable. I loved the IHOP scene where I was seriously wishing I had friends like Avery’s and that the guy had said yes because I have to wonder what Mel would have done then…oh well the mysteries I will never know. I also loved the scene with Peter and I have to wonder what would have happened if Avery had brought those antique guns with her since I now know the identity of Avery’s new client. All in all, another amazing edition to The Arrangment Series and I highly suggest everyone pick of their copies of this amazing series so they can join in! Oh Oh and there was a mention of Trystan Scott which totally blew my mind because I was like “OMG I READ THAT! I KNOW WHO THAT IS!!!WOWZA!!” Okay so yeah pick up this series asap! Seriously!!(less)
