We need not hope for grace, we merely need to open our eyes to its abundance. Grace is all around us, not just in the hopeful future but in the miracle of now." | Alan Christoffersen

Yes, go ahead and join in this touching, soul-searching, miles-and-miles-of-walking journey with Harold Fry in his quest to save the life of his terminally ill dear friend, Queenie. Set in the English countryside and full of so much wisdom and lessons in life, it's an easy 4 out of 5 stars for a book filled with self-discovery, true friendship, acceptance of faults, appreciation for life, and ultimately finding that individual purpose and meaning for each of us in this world we live in, while acknowledging the greatness of those we hold close to heart.(less)

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Ignore negative reviews. Discard unfavorable Martha Beck preconceptions you may have adopted in your pre-read research. Open your mind. Refrain from religious judgment. Refrain from judgment, period. Listen to this memoir. Don't stop halfway. Read it. This is clearly one of the best books I've devoured in my crazy reading life.

Oh, the escape of a life lived through books. I embraced this story and all of its love, kindness, family, loyalty, and characters of strength. Oppositely, the nasty souls herein are just speed bumps in this novel where hearts soar and goodness prevails. A gem of a journey; although heartwrenching, so wondrously told and fiercely felt.

It is the skill and humor and courage within, the ability to build your own fires and find your own peace." Audrey Sutherland, kayaker and writer(less)

Blogger Jenny Lawson wore us all out on her kooky rollercoaster ride of life in this "mostly true" memoir. I'm pretty sure it's all true, and that's what makes this book pretty much deranged, with a really small tad of inspiration. MR star ratings range from 2 to 4 out of 5 stars.(less)

And I really wanted to like Anastasia more when this book took off. The intimacy for me wasn’t felt as these are two lovers with different agendas, one wants to be loved, the other just wants to…well, you know. Ultimately, repetition was ignored, and I became hopeful for Anastasia and her happiness. Yes, I cared for her. And that’s the main reason why I’ll be Darker and Freed later this summer. I insist she have her fairytale ending. Hopefully there’s mutual love expressed down the road and all this sex will be even better…but only the vanilla kind, thank you.
