The additional understanding of roles that Victoria, Riley and the Volturi play in the war against the Cullen's was also enjoyable and interesting, especially when Bree's account of events at the end confrontation between herself, the Cullen's and the Volturi takes place as you learn a bit more behind some of the original dialogue present in "Eclipse" (won't give anything away).
Overall, worth the read - especially if you are a Twilight fan.
On a side note: I hope that Meyer does eventually release "Midnight Sun" (Edward's version of events for the Twilight series) as the draft that Meyer ended up posting on her webpage had serious potential and like Bree's story delved further and revealed some new thoughts & actions by other characters that were hidden within the original Twilight series. It is a true shame that someone abused her trust and released her incomplete draft on the internet (breaching copyright agreements), causing a halt to her creative process and completion of the book, which in turn has ruined it for all us readers as well. Fingers crossed she re-starts the project again soon.(less)

I was truly pleasantly surprised with this one! I am not much of a fan of YA books and had already half pegged this one as a waste of time, but like I said I was pleasantly surprised. I felt that 'Shiver' didn't take the well used and well known path that I find a majority of YA books do take with their plot/characters/dialogue etc. Stiefvater has constructed an interesting world of werewolves that does not follow the conventional mythological norms. This in its self is worth the read (always interesting to gain new perspectives or versions of well known myths and mythological creatures - in my eyes). I also appreciated the telling of the story coming from both of the main characters; Sam & Grace. Both of whom were nicely constructed, believable, and most importantly lacking in the usual teenage-annoying-angst that I find in so many YA books these days.
I will definitely be continuing on with this series as am completely invested now in finding out what happens next!!(less)
I didn't enjoy this book at all. The plot was slow, repetitive and so predictable! The characters were unoriginal, annoying and a total cliché!...

I found that all of the possible avenues of interest and intrigue that could have been developed within this storyline were skimmed over or not even explored. Instead Fitzpatrick just regurgitated the same events, descriptions and moments again and again and again!! Where other authors have succeeded in this YA genre, Fitzpatrick has not. Complete waste of time and money...(less)
