Over the last few day's I've been on an Urban Fantasy reading frenzy, I'm kind of sorry for all my goodreads friends and everyone on facebook who are witness to my slightly insane and sarcastic book updates over the last few days. Okay, I'm not that sorry.
Arcadia Bell is a Heroine that you don't want to mess with.
I fell in love with Jenn Bennett's world and the characters in it during Kindling the Moon. I was expecting something good, but nothing that great, and although I really enjoyed Kindling the Moon, my enjoyment and love for this series has been growing with each book.
My favourite character? Jupe wins hands down. I was a little sad when Jupe wasn't immediately in the book at page one, but like always, he doesn't take long to appear. I love watching Cady and Jupes relationship evolve, in each book they get closer.
Jupe is the most adorable teenage motormouth in existence, I just want to hug him to smithereens. He breaks your heart (in a good way) a little each book... especially in this one, when the rest of his family rolls into town.
I hope that Jenn decides to write a few books about grown up Jupe one day, because that would be an amazing thing to see!
Naturally Jupe is a package deal for Arcadia with his sexy as sin father, Lon. I must say even though He's a lot older than Cady and his mustache is described as a sexy pirate mustache, I try really really hard to forget he has one. That is his only flaw in my book, I don't care about his age, but the mustache freaks me out.
Arcadia aka Cady is the star of these books, she has crazy magical power which just gets even crazier in this book. I can't wait to see what lengths she'll achieve in the next book. I just hope that she can get rid of her psychopath mother once and for all.
My favourite thing about this book, well any book really is that there aren't a million love interests. Cady doesn't sleep around, she meets Lon in book one and they don't break up at the end of each book, or halfway in between. I always get happy when books like this exist and I hope that Cady and Lon stay together for the duration of the books.
I must say though, the end freaked me out. Only because I'm terrified about what will happen in book four. (MASSIVE SPOILER: (view spoiler)[I don't want her to lose the baby, I really really don't want her to lose the baby. So far Jenn hasn't followed the usual stereotypical lines of Urban Fantasy and I hope that she continues the trend so that Cady doesn't lose the baby. I think that would cause massive problems because, how can she fight her mother while pregnant? and god knows what the psychotic bitch would do if she found out Cady was pregnant, could she use the baby against her? My thoughts go on. But at least if she had the baby she wouldn't be able to run from her relationship with Lon and Jupe.
Although if Cady does lose the baby, that could cause conflict between her and Lon, it could either drive her away to protect them or make them stronger. It would give her free reign to cause hell for her mother. But I think It would be more interesting if she had the baby, but would probably give me a heart attack while reading because so much shit is going down. Anyone who's read the book, let me know your theories! (hide spoiler)] END OF SPOILERS)
I can't wait for the next book, It's going to be torture waiting till April, but hey at least it's my birthday month, so I'm sure that Banishing the Dark will be one of the many presents I buy myself.
So much happened in Binding the Shadows that I could keep writing this review forever, but heres a quick rundown... we discover douchebag Dare's true motives, Yvonne the mother of hell finally shows up, Hajo the crazy junkie makes a re-appearance and kind of made me fall a little in love him and Cady sits down with Jupe and Kar Yee and tells them her secrets.
All the Urban Fantasy lovers out there need to buy Kindling the Moon, if you haven't discovered the amazing world that Jenn Bennett has created, you're missing out, big time! It was such a beautiful, inspiring and emotional read! A book that rips out your heart yet leaves you smiling at the end of the book, Jessica Shirvington did an AMAZING job and I can't wait to read more from her.
Full review to come - because I honestly can't shut up about this book!(less)

Jessie Darker, is another great kick-ass heroine that Jus Accardo has cooked up for all of us. I must say for everyone who is a big fan of Accardo's Denazen series, Darker Days does have all the amazing unique things I love about Jus's writing, although don't go in expecting Jessie to be just like Dez... because she isn't. But I'm not saying that in a bad way. Both girls are awesome, and both are different, just as they're meant to be.
But that doesn't make me love Darker Days any less. Jessie although badass, isn't as rough around the edges as our lovable Dez is. I didn't want to compare the books, because I hate doing that but I thought that Jessie was just an interesting comparison compared to Dez and I'm looking forward to reading more of both worlds and especially other characters that Jus will create in the future.
I want to compare Kale and Lukas too, I'm sure everyone already has but I can't help myself, both are equally delicious. I love how they both can be completely bad-ass, yet sexy and completely clueless to some of the rules of society in the same way. Kale obviously is a bit more oblivious to the ways of the world since he practically grew up in lock down. Lucas on the other hand is from a completely different time and would be considered a gentleman - which I'm sure that Jessie, as well as myself love but wishes he wasn't so 'gentlemanly' at times.
Okay enough comparing, time to talk about the book itself.
I love detective stories, so when I read the synopsis and discovered its a detective paranormal agency I was excited. Everything about the book was unique. I swear no one in the YA industry can write a book about a teenage detective without people scoffing and thinking about Veronica Mars and then comparing the book closely to the popular teen hit while they read. I've been guilty of doing this in the past and I'm happy to say that this didn't happen at all while I read Darker Days, maybe it was because of the paranormal aspect but once I started reading it didn't cross my mind at all until I was finished.
The only thing that made me a bit apprehensive about reading Darker Days was the mention of the seven deadly sins, but I shouldn't have worried at all. It was very well done and I really enjoyed what crazy antics the different sins brought to the table.
I thought the creative way that Jus used demons was great and I can't wait to find out more about different demons, and the ones we already know in the next book... things will clearly get a little crazy with everything that happened in the end.
I recommend Darker Days to all Jus Accardo fans and especially to readers who haven't picked up Denazen series, this book is definitely worth checking out for all paranormal YA lovers out there. (less)

Spartan Frost, is a delectable novella about our favourite Spartan Logan Quinn... I can just hear all my fellow Mythos Academy fan-girls sighs... Okay so drooling might be more accurate, on my behalf anyway.
Oh Logan, Logan, Logan. Our poor tortured sexy Spartan, I couldn't say how happy I am that Jennifer decided to put me out of my misery by writing this short novella to satisfy my Logan cravings... and to tell us his side of the story, of what had everyone (hopefully not just me) screaming for more after the painful cliff hanger in Crimson Frost.
But in normal Jennifer Estep fashion, she only puts us loyal fans out of our misery... until we get to the last page and we are thrown off the cliff once more. Damn you Estep, damn you! Not really, please forgive me, I love you.
Okay I need to stop tuning my inner crazy chick. I suppose this is what happens when you haven't wrote a review in a while. I apologise.
I really enjoyed seeing things from Logan's point of view, especially with how everything ended in Crimson Frost. We see how damaged he is after everything with Loki... and well, how damaged he was before Loki also.
Watching how both Logan and his father try to work on their complicated relationship was really touching too, both of them are so much alike and it will take time for them to rebuild their relationship, but you can see that although they are awkward with each other, they love each other and want to understand each other more. I'm hoping to see more progress on their relationship in Midnight Frost.
Another think I'm interested to see in Midnight Frost is if we will we get to read in Gwen and Logan's POV to see what's happening? Or will we just stick with Gwen all the way through like usual and hope that Logan appears soon enough. In all honesty I don't mind either way because Gwen is amazing and I never get bored reading in her POV, but think it would be interesting to have Logan their also to see how he deals with all his issues.
My only dissatisfaction about this novella... is that there is no Logan on the cover. Yes I'm being dramatic and petty, (bet everyone who read this thought I had something normal to be dissatisfied about) but since Logan is appropriately in love with Gwen, I'll let this one slide... also because whoever would have got picked for Logan probably wouldn't have satisfied my wildest fantasies anyway.
As you may have noticed, I'm beyond excited to get my hands on Midnight Frost now more than ever... because as stated above, Jennifer Estep really knows how to hurl us fans off a cliff and then as we climb dutifully back up again with the next book she kicks us right back down again... but I wouldn't have it any other way!
I want to quickly put this in here before I write a review! I really really really really really hope this isn't the end of the Curse Workers series!

I loved these books a lot more than I thought I would. It's an amazing world and although I loved the end, there's soooo much more Holly Black could go with and I would love a little more explanations and what will happen in the future!(less)

Lucid was spellbinding, very much like it's predecessor: Brightest Kind of Darkness, it keeps you enthralled, trapped in suspense and trying to unravel mystery after mystery until the very last page, where like Nara... you feel satisfied, yet not at the same time! *snigger*
P.T Michelle is a mastermind at keeping you on your toes!
Okay so after book one, we know that Fate is out to get our little heroine Nara... yes I'm saying little, even though - according to Lainey - 5'8 is really tall! (I laugh at that, because I'm 6'1) I'm just going to jump in and say I love that Nara actually said '5'8 isn't that tall' I could have just kissed her and P.T for that. Why? Because in a lot of YA fiction, girls are either really really short, and voice it several times or at 5'8 would voice that they are a giant. So for all the tall and short girls out there that groan and roll our eyes at those little parts that are overused in all those amazing books... I thank you P.T for being different!
So I started Lucid in great anticipation to find out what could possibly happen next to our delightful heroine and her steamy leading man Ethan and got quite a shock. Ethan, was away for most of the book, trying to mend his relationship with his parents.
So like Nara, I went through Ethan withdrawals.
Usually with books this is when another sexy man comes in and makes the heroines love waver for the original sexy, sexy man.
Meet Drystan... sexy sexy Welsh man who had girls coming left and right just to listen to him whisper sweet nothings in their ear with his sexy Welsh accent.
Worst part: Still going through Ethan withdrawals and terrified Nara would waver like every other nitwit heroine out there.
Best part: SHE DIDN'T WAVER!!
I should have never doubted Nara, or P.T!
Drystan is an amazing character, who like Nara isn't all that he seems! Their friendship was a fantastic part of Lucid, and I'm really really interested to see what will happen to that friendship in book three now that the leading man Ethan is back! (He better be back for the majority of book three or I may just curl up into a ball and cry) I hope that it stay's a friendship. Dryst needs to find someone else... like me for instance! I wouldn't mind stealing his heart away from Nara, although I would probably go to jail for it. (oops)
When Ethan did come back... oooh boy, it was worth the wait! (just LOVED the feather concept)
I want to quickly mention Gran, who has got to be one of my favourite characters in this series, I just love her... she's a woman after my own heart! She has wacky competitions with her evil neighbor! Runs away from her retirement home and climbs up trees to get through windows!
As I said before, P.T is a mastermind of mystery and suspense! There's soo much that I want to know about certain characters and mysterious powers that my mind is reeling, sure we find out some information but the big secret is still that... a secret! I bow down to you P.T for keeping such a tight lid on it and not making anything too obvious! I'm sure when you unveil the mystery, the pieces will click into place, but until then I'll be salivating for book three... not only for the romance, but for the amazing intrigue of this splendid series hopefully coming to light... and not to mention Ethan's pants finally coming off... hopefully.
I could go on talking about Lucid forever, and I doubt I remembered to type out everything I wanted to say! So despite my crazy rambling, I hope that I've intrigued you enough to pick up your own copy of Lucid, or Brightest Kind Of Darkness if you haven't picked it up yet... because you are definitely missing out if you haven't! I need to read it right now! But now I'm going to have to hunt it down in a bookshop pronto or order online and wait patiently... :'( I hate you Amazon... right now at least.
And it's time to wait patiently for the order... I guess it's not too horrible, I love the covers and actually want to get a copy of each, instead of just having them on kindle. (less)
