Although the ending may not have been what I would have ideally wanted, it was done well and I can respect Will's decision, as hard and depressing as it may have been. This was definitely an unexpected love story but I loved reading how they fell in love even in their circumstances. I just can't express enough how much I loved this story. (less)

If the entire book had read like the last half of the book I would have probably given this one more star. Serena is the absolute worst character, I could not see pemberton's infatuation with her. Blegh. I did enjoy the ending...it was satisfying and a great way for it to end. (less)

What can I say about this book? I know a lot of people did not like it for how it ended and I can understand that, really, but I felt that it was right for this series. Placing in a spoiler break now because I do not want to ruin this for anyone.
(view spoiler)[You see so much of this book from Spook's point of view and it was interesting to say the least. He really does grow as a character and is no longer just a weird kid with eastern slang ;)
Sazed's character arc in this story was very disheartening, to see my favorite character struggle this way really broke my heart. To see him give up on his religions and have no faith was so sad and so unlike him. I was so glad to see that he gets his faith back in the end and ends up being THE HERO OF AGES! Can I just say here that I actually thought this was going to be the ending in book 2 and was shocked that Vin actually took the power for herself! There could not have been a better character to have turned into a god.
My heart was aching for Elend this entire book, you could tell he so badly wanted to be the kind of emperor he always thought he would be...fair, kind, and merciful. Instead, reality hits him and he realizes that he has to be cold and ruthless at points for the greater good. Even though he had to make decisions that would kill hundreds you could tell it bothered him, he never made the decision easily and in the end when it came to raiding Yomen's city, he didn't. He couldn't. He is a truly great character.
Vin & Elend's deaths...this is the part of the book I bet is the reason why people did not like the ending. I personally felt this was a good ending for them...the best? no, good & acceptable, yes. Now, did I want my favorite, wonderful, husband Elend to die? NO WAY. But I did love how in the epilogue Sazed stated in his letter that he thought they could use the rest. I was in tears at this point. They were in death together and they were happy, no more struggling and worrying. Of course, I wish they had lived on so that series could never end and we could see the rebirth of the new world with blue ashless skies and green grass, with sazed as their god and with everyone living happily ever after in the world they helped to save. Sorry My review could not be better than this. All I have to say is, this series is definitely worth the read. I did not want to leave this world and I am amazed at how much I grew to love a series that is only 3 books long. Not long enough to spend with such great characters! I will definitely be revisiting this series at some point. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

IF I HAD TO PICK a book to like least it may be this one? maybe?...maybe not. I loved this one too. Now a spoiler break to gush about my favorite characters... (view spoiler)[ This book introduced me to one of my absolute favorite characters, OreSeur. Let me tell you, he starts off and he's rude but then you just grow to love him! At least, I did. I was absolutely devastated to learn that he was the mole -heart crushed-, I'm telling you...it's always SOMETHING with my favorite characters. Elend, Elend, Elend, How do I count the ways ...OMGILOVEYOUSOMUCHYOUAREPERFECT!! His character arc is so amazing to see him go from this young, care free boy into a strong man trying to make decisions and run a kingdom. You see him struggle with what's right and what's wrong and he follows his heart, always! When he got stabbed at the end my heart sank, there was no way I was going to accept his death in this book. no way. Thank goodness he lived on to see another day! And a Mistborn?! YES PLEASE. Sazed, let me hug you bby, you are awesome! and what happened to Tindwyl was just not fair. BUT DON'T YOU EVER SCARE ME AND MAKE ME THINK YOU ARE GOING TO DIE! My heart cannot handle that kind of stress. (hide spoiler)]
back to the review. Vin did bother me a bit in this book and there were times I found myself pulling my hair and yelling "no!" "don't you dare!" "what are you thinking!?" but since this book takes place during war I guess I can cut her some slack for not making my perfect decisions ;) This book will definitely have you on the edge of your seat with the tension and the suspense of not knowing what's going to happen and not knowing whether or not if anyone is going to die. I remember at one point I actually had to set the book down and sob because I thought something was going to happen, picked the book back up and found out it didn't happen(vague enough?)...I was pleasently relieved for the briefest of moments.
I love the relationship between Vin & Elend, so real. It's not this honeymoon relationship you see in other novels where they are completely obsessed with each other and describe the other person in detail down to their golden arm hair. No thank you. This love felt real, like real love between 2 people who are complete opposites. I love the way they are together.
This book really made me quetion whether or not killing Lord Ruler was a good idea...onto book 3 review!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>(less)

I have grown so tired of reading stories with clumsy, boy obsessed, naive female leads. The main protaganist in this book, Vin, is a female who from her past experiences would have a reason to be a weak and naive character who would need rescuing. She is not, she is strong and cautious and I love it. I love reading a book where the girl can hold her own. FINALLY a book where the girl does not need constant rescuing and at often times may be the rescuer. Not only do I love Vin but I absolutely fell in love with other characters as well. Sanderson did a great job at writing from different points of view, which I find can often be confusing but not at all with this book, each character has their own style and personality. This book would completely engulf me in it's world and by the end I was ready for more!(less)
